My macbook pro isn't connecting to any wifi. HELP?!

My macbook had all of a sudden stopped connecting to my wifi, I've restarted it and still nothing worked. I've tried to connect my macbook to other wifi's and still the same, it has a tick next to the correct wifi but says 'no internet connection' but when I go into Network it doesn't say I'm connected at all. I can connect to the internet fine when it is pluged into an ethernet cable or my USB.
Does anyone have any suggestions??

1. SMC reset
Category: Hardware power related
Instructions: https://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
Problems solved: Machine is not booting, power button pressed and nothing happens, problems with indicators, Magsafe has wrong lights, battery is not charging, monitor and graphics issues etc.  If the battery is not charged (from like letting it sleep too long), let the Mac charge up awhile first.

Magsafe issues: https://support.apple.com/kb/TS1713   https://support.apple.com/kb/TS4127
Check battery status: Hold the option key down while clicking on the battery icon in the menu bar, top right corner.
2. PRAM reset
Category: Hardware related
Description: PRAM stores certain system and device settings in a location that Mac OS X can access quickly. Exactly which settings are stored in the computer's PRAM varies depending on the type of computer as well as the types of devices and drives connected to the computer.
Instructions: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.6/en/26871.html
Problems resolved: Depends upon hardware and connected devices.

Care to share which OS you are using?
Have you read for possible solutions over in the "More Like This" thread over here?----------------------->
Change your router channel number.  Most times this works & is all you have to do.
    System Preferences>Network
    Click the Assist Me button.
In the next window that pops up, click the Diagnostic button & do the necessary.

Setting up new ipad 2. Won't accept my PW for my Airport Extreme (Wi Fi network?)  Where is the PW for my Wi Fi? I am stymied. Can I set up through my MacBook Pro, which IS connected to my WiFi network?

If you could provide the make and model number of the modem that the AirPort Extreme will be connecting to, we can likely tell you a bit more about what to expect in the way of getting the AirPort set up and working.
Unfortunately, "plug and play" does not apply here. You will need to set up and configure the AirPort Extreme using your iPad or iMac to name the AirPort as a device, assign a device password, name the wireless network, assign a device password and a few other things.
Once the AirPort Extreme is set up, you can connect the PC to one of the LAN <--> ports on the AirPort Extreme using an Etherent cable.
The iPad and iMac will connect to the wireless network that the AirPort Extreme provides.

  • My macbook pro is not connecting with my iPhone, help?

my macbook pro is not connecting with my iPhone 4S, help? I followed the instructions but somehow the Iphone doesn't connect!

I am having the same problem.  First on a new ViewSonic, which I sent back thinking it wasn't working.  Now the same problem on my new Powerbook Mac with a new Epson projector.  Apple support hasn't been helpful.

  • Macbook Pro isn't connecting to the internet unless it's on the guest profile

I recently purchased a brand new Macbook Pro less than a week ago and I've never been able to connect it to the Internet on my log in. This is my first Mac and honestly I don't believe it was worth the price since I can not use the Internet on it. The only way I can use the Internet is if the computer is on the guest profile. If the computer is logged onto my account the Internet stops working on all the other devices in the household(2 laptops, 2 iPhones, and 2 iPads). I've tried everything possible to fix this problem and nothing helps. The closest apple store is over 100 miles away so it is out of the question to go into the store. Any and all advice will be greatly appreciated.

Your warranty includes 90 days of phone support. Call AppleCare. If you don't get satisfaction that way, return the unit for exchange or a full refund within 14 days of delivery.

  • One of the USB ports on my Macbook Pro isn't working. Any way I can fix this or will I have to take it into the store to get repaired?

I bought a Macbook pro this July. Everything has been normal except about a week ago I started noticing I had to plug things in a few times in order for them to connect. Today I realized that one of my USB ports has been the problem, not my devices. THey connect right away when plugged into the right USB port next to the SD slot, but not at all when plugged into the left slot by the firewire hookup. Is this a problem that has a quick fix or am I going to have to go to the mac store?

    Reset the SMC and PRAM
    SMC Reset:
    Shut down the MacBook Pro.
Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
    PRAM:
    Shut down the MacBook Pro.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R.
    Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    Release the keys.

  • My Macbook pro won't connect to any other wifi except my home wifi.

Everywhere I go , my computer wont connect to any other wifi . I'm currently visiting a friend in Florida and I tried connecting to her wifi and it says it's connect but there is no internet connection . I know her router is fine because my iPhone is running off of it perfectly but it won't let me use internet on my Mac .

I suggest you try to join the Network at the Genius Bar of an Apple Store. Be sure to make an appointment, as they can be crazy-busy. It's free.

  • IMac and Macbook Pro no longer connecting to the Wifi?

    Hi there,
I've been in London this weekend, only to return home to find issues connecting to my wifi. Weirdly, it's only the iMac and Macbook Pro having trouble, everything else is connecting fine e.g iPad, Phone, Android Tablet etc.
I'm getting disconnected around every 20 seconds and cannot figure it out! It's so frustrating as I'm wondering if there's been an update released for OS X that it has downloaded recently? Especially seeing that when I run windows from bootcamp on my iMac, it doesn't disconnect. And I also don't believe it's an issue with the hub.
Has anyone got any suggestions? I've tried removing the network and re-adding, help for about an hour but still not much use.
    Thanks, Matt

  • My macbook pro will not connect automatically to wifi after restarting or asleep

My Macbook Pro will not automatically connect to wi fi after restarting or sleeping. Any ideas?

Few have this problem. But there is no single sure solution for this.
Until a solution is found, manually connecting to wifi after sleep is the way.
    Best.

  • Macbook Pro Retina wont connect to college wifi

I just recently purchased a new macbook pro retina and was really excited to use it at school and for classes.  Well at my school when you select the network, it will connec to it, and once it connects a popup window will come up in your browswer and you will type in a username and password.  once you do this you can use the internet.  Well i try to connect with my laptop and it wont bring up the popup window and will just show an ! over the wifi signal display.  When i open network preferences it says its connected, but i can access the internet.  the IT guy at my school tried for hours, and get get it (although he didnt know much about macs) and i cant seem to get it either.  Can anymore help me?

    Something else to check ..
Open System Preferences > Network then select the Wi-Fi tab.
Drag the school wi fi network name to the top of the list.
You can open System Preferrences by clicking the System Preferences icon in your Dock
Or click System Preferences from your Apple menu icon top left in your screen.
    Or, from your Applications folder.

  • IPhone 3G won't connect to any wifi help?

Help required my iPhone 3G hadn't been able to connect to my internet at home for quite sometime it used to be able to but know it can't and I also can't connect to any other wifi, e.g mcdonalds I would enjoy some help on this topic

Tell me something about the wireless router you use.  What sort of security do you use? Is there a shared password? Do you use MAC address filtering on the router that only allows devices with certain MAC addresses to connect?  What sort of rules and services have you allowed on your router?  If you are able to connect to other wireless networks all I can think of is that it might be a router setting that has changed.

  • My macbook pro will not connect to the internet, help pleaaaase?

I have literally been to countless forums and nothing has worked. I restarted the router for the internet, but every other computer in my house is connecting to the internet just fine. I don't know what to do, and this is incredibly frustrating. Can anybody help me?

When you see an exclamation point in the Wi-Fi menu, from the menu bar, select
     ▹ System Preferences... ▹ Network
Click the Assist me button and select Assistant. Follow the prompts. You may get a warning that Wi-Fi is not available, that you're too far from the base station, or that you're using the wrong password.
Assuming that you've ruled out those possibilities, click the lock icon in the lower left corner of the preference pane and authenticate, if necessary. From the Location menu at the top of the window, select Edit Locations. A sheet will drop down. Click the plus-sign button to create a new location. Give it any name you want. In the new location, set up the Wi-Fi service with the same settings you used before. Click Apply and test.

  • Macbook Pro suddenly stops connecting to wifi

So yesterday, my macbook pro suddenly stopped connecting to any wifi sources at all. Instead after trying to connect, it just gives me the icon with the ! mark, saying that there is no connection made. I've tried multiple routers/sources, and they all don't work. The only reason I'm even connected to the internet right now is through tethering via usb (when I try to make my phone a hotspot, my computer doesn't read it, of course).
Does anyone have any idea why this would happen?
My software is up to date, completely. Macbook Pro, 2010 model, OS X Lion 10.7.3

Back up all data before proceeding.
Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Keychain Access in the icon grid.
Select the login keychain from the list on the left side of the Keychain Access window. If your default keychain has a different name, select that.
If the lock icon in the top left corner of the window shows that the keychain is locked, click to unlock it. You'll be prompted for the keychain password, which is the same as your login password, unless you've changed it.
Right-click or control-click the login entry in the list. From the menu that pops up, select
              Change Settings for Keychain "login"
In the sheet that opens, uncheck both boxes, if not already unchecked.
    From the menu bar, select
Keychain Access ▹ Preferences ▹ First Aid
    If the box marked
              Keep login keychain unlocked
    is not checked, check it.
    Select
Keychain Access ▹ Keychain First Aid
from the menu bar and repair the keychain. Quit Keychain Access.
