My Macbook pro keeps shutting down right after I log in. The power cord seems to be fine, so I think the computer has enough power. Right after logging in, it shows a grey background with a loading bar that loads only 1/4. Then it shuts down.
I have had my Macbook Pro since 2011 and it has been great until now. Suddenly, I can no longer get past the grey screen just after I log in. The grey screen appears with a loading bar, and the bar get 1/4 of the way complete, then the computer shuts off. My power cord seems to be working fine because this problem still occurred after using another power cord (from another Macbook). Keyboard does not light up, and the small green lights on the left side of the computer do not light up (this is an older version and these light indicate how charged the computer is). It is using the OS X Yosemite and recently had total clearing of the hard drive as it was transferring from one owner to another, so the hard drive isn't nearly full enough to be causing this problem. I've never run into this problem before with other Macbooks.

Hi. When you were in the recovery drive doing permissions, did you try and run a repair of the boot drive? Did you try single user mode? Try these first and then go back and try to reinstall the operating system.When I say repair boot drive I don't mean permissions. There are both options in disk utilities.When you open disk utilities ,you will see in the left column two drives plus possibly a boot partition that look like an external driv. click on the second drive and in first aid use repair disk. There is not one specific program that it shuts down in, random shut downs and I could be in an Adobe application or another program. It may be be a coincidence, but my shut downs seems to have started after I installed Adobe's Creative Cloud. Apple now has my laptop exploring what may be causing my issues. Their first reaction was that it could be some sort of software conflict. I'm waiting on their diagnosis.

The other night, my MacBook Pro's fans started running at high speed when the computer was asleep. Loud enough to wake me up. And this just kept on going until I finally decided to turn the computer off. Is this normal? Is this anything to worry about?

I booted into Windows 7 on my boot camp partition and was about to play Dirt 3 for the 1st time. I was in the options menu of the game and my MacBook Pro just shut down/turned off instantly.
I turned back on, holding in Option so I could boot into Windows again, but the computer just turned off immediately after the startup chime. I turned on again, this time I didn't hold in Option, so I could boot into OS X (my default startup volume) and the same thing happened - MBP shut down immediately after the startup chime. I tried again, same thing. I tried again, and this time it booted fine into OS X, and all seems ok.

Macbook pro keeps slowing down
My Macbook pro had been playing up lately. Looking at the activity monitor the Memory Pressure keeps going to red and slowing the computer down. A Safari Web
Content process keeps opening up and causes it to use up all the RAM, slow down and a few times caused it to crash. The process is https://autotrader.portal.com. How can i stop this from running? Every time it opens up by itself I have to force quit it to stop it slowing up and freezing.Remove all references to the site in your Reading List and in Top Sites.

I took the mac book pro into the mac store for them to check it out they said every thing is fine seems to be working a little better than it was except when I am on some web pages it shuts it self down and reboots it self I went to the utilities and looked in console I then looked in the Crash logs all I am finding when i click that arrow under that is ADOBE DOWNLOAD ASSISTANT 6/24/11. Symptoms
Apple has determined that a small number of MacBook Pro (15-inch, Mid 2010) computers may intermittently freeze or stop displaying video on the built-in display or on an external display connected to the MacBook Pro. In this situation, you may also see a restart warning message before the video is lost or the display turns black or gray. Affected computers were manufactured between April 2010 and February 2011.
If it seems as if you do have any of the symptoms, get your machine to your local Apple Store or an AASP and have them deal with the issue - which may mean replacing the logic board. But it will be a free fix as there's no expiry date for the problem listed in the KB article.
