My macbook pro mid 2009 keyboard and trackpad is not working. it was working perfectly fine a week ago and it stopped. i tried using a external wireless mouse and keyboard but only the mouse will work!! They keyboard lights up when it is booting up but when i try to sign in, nothing types or the mouse wont work. i am fine if the mouse doesnt work because i can use an external one but can someone please help me?!
The best option is an appointment at an Apple store genius bar and have the technicians diagnose the problem.

I'm using MBP 15" late 2008 with Maverick OS. A couple of days ago, the internal keyboard and trackpad are not working at all. I did all the troubleshooting. I even reformat it; installing the snow leopard and re-installing the maverick but no good result. I believe there's no problem with my keyboard because i can still do PRAM on my lappy. Everytime i'm booting up my MBP, it always looking for bluetooth trackpad and keyboard. I have not used those bluetooth peripherals from day 1 i've started using MBP. I just read on the internet about the same problem has happened on MBP 13" retina and APPLE fixed it by updating the software. I wish Apple will also do something for the old MBP to fix the intermal keyboard and trackpad problem.

I have the late 2009 Unibody Macbook Pro and just yesterday both my keyboard and trackpad have stopped working. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this and know of a solution. I made upgrades to the macbook (added more memory and a better HD) but that was back 9 months ago. Ive tried reseting the PRAM but I can't because the keyboard just doesnt work at all. I had to run out and buy a temporary external keyboard to plug into the USB. Any help would be appreciated. There is no water damage. So please, do not say this may be the problem. My mac is only around 2 months old. I was using my keyboard and trackpad fine, when i looked away, and when i looked back nothing worked at all. No keys, nor the trackpad work. My Macbook Air (13", mid 2011) right after I did the Maverick OS update. My keyboard on Macbook Air is not working and it says "There isn't a keyboard connected" (Bluetooth Keyboard Setup). I do not use a wireless keyboard. Apparently my bluetooth works because my wireless mouse works. I am currently stuck at my login screen not being able to get in because I can't even enter my password. I am, however, able to login as guests and get to the Keyboard viewer to type things with my wireless mouse. I really need my keyboard to work to use for my job. I need help please!
I forgot to mention that my power button did work but everything else, keyboard and trackpad, didn't! Macbook Pro 2010 Model Keyboard Issue - Middle keys not working
Hi.
I have a Macbook Pro 2010 model, for no other reason other than my cat sitting on it (tiny cat, very dry...) the middle row of keys (A,S,D,F,G,H,J,K,L) all stopped working, CAPS still works, as well as : ; " ' and the enter/return key.
I've done nearly everything I can think of, reset everything, reinstalled OS X... Other than pulling the thing apart.
Any suggestions or ideas of how I might fix this cheaply? Or what the problem may be?Hello AJTheGamer
Check with the Keyboard Viewer to make sure no other keys are being pushed down to prevent it from the keys that you are typing to be registered. Another thing you can check is to try and create a new user to see if the issue carries across the system as a whole.

Macbook pro mid 2009 - beach ball spinning after one hour
Hi,
I have a problem with my macbook pro mid 2009. After one hour of working the beach ball starts spinning and you cannot work anylonger.
You have to force shut down the macbook pro and restart it. The same problem appears once I wanna do a back-up on my time capsule, but then I receive at least a report after restart:

I just found the problem. I just have to update the firmware of my SSD:
Crucial M4 and RealSSD C400 SSDs 5184 hours power-on time BSOD issue
Crucial M4 and RealSSD C400 SSDs with firmware earlier than 70H / 07M could become unresponsive after 5184 hours of Power-on time. The drive will recover after a power cycle, however, this failure will repeat once per hour after reaching this point. Update firmware to version 70H / 07M or later.
My SSD has now 5690hours... -
My optical drive on my macbook pro mid 2009 series is not working all the time.
I have a Macbook Pro mid 2009 series and just recently my optical drive is not working all the time. At times it decides to not spin a disk that has been inserted in the drive. I am currently deployed in Afghanistan and this is one of the very few things i have to distract me from the day to day haul. This is something that just started to happen and its very fustrating since i have limited support for this.
Another help source (if you haven't already done so).
Go to your OS Help Menu. In the search field type dvd
Click on all the troubleshooting topics & Support Articles that pertain to your issue.
You can also do the same in Disk Utility. Open same up.
At the bottom left of the window, click on the purple button w/the "?" in the middle.
This will bring up the Help Menu.

The many "failed" warnings that etrecheck sometimes spews mean nothing. Those warnings are not a reason to reinstall the OS, or to do anything else at all. They should be ignored.
The better your description of the problem, the better the chance of a solution.
For example, if the computer is slow, which specific actions are slow? Is it slow all the time, or only sometimes? What changes did you make, if any, just before it became slow? Have you seen any alerts or error messages? Have you done anything to try to fix it? Most importantly, do you have a current backup of all data? If the answer to the last question is "no," back up now. Ask if you need guidance. Do nothing else until you have a backup. -

My optical drive is non-functional and I want to dual boot with win7. The only problem is my macbook does not boot from USB at all, even when I hold th ALT key down when it is starting up.

I updated to OS X Mavericks and now trying to run Logic Pro X on a MacBook Pro mid-2009, using an M-Audio Axiom 49 and an M-Audio Fast Track Pro... Logic keeps telling me that Mac OS X MIDI Services are not available... How do I solve this problem?
I just checked to see if the update to OS X Yosemite 10.10.1 solved any of the issues outlined in my previous post, and to my dismay, nothing has changed -- all of the previous problems persist.
My iMac (8) -- it's renamed itself eight times since the recent troubleshoot with the Apple tech rep -- shows up as a shared device in Finder on my MacBook Pro, but when I click on it, I cannot establish a connection using "Connect As". So I've attempted to connect using the menu "Go/Connect to Server...", using both (alternately) the iMac's name and IP address, to no avail. I get a message which reads: "There was a problem connecting to the server 'Peter's iMac (8)'. This server may not exist or it is unavailable at this time. Check the server name or IP address, check your network connection, and then try again."
Here's what I know:
The server -- Peter's iMac (8) does exist;
The server -- Peter's iMac (8) is available at this time;
The server name -- Peter's iMac (8) -- is correct, as specified in the system sharing preferences;
The server IP address is correct, as specified in the system sharing preferences;
The network connection is active when I attempt to connect.
I'm convinced the problems stem directly from the OS X Yosemite update. None of this was ever remotely an issue in the previous OS X's -- any of them. This is maddening! What can be done? Apple?? Anyone??? -

I installed Windows 7 Professional 64 bit in my Macbook Pro Mid 2009 using Bootcamp 5.1.2 and from the beginning the sound is not working and cant adjust the brightness either. Tried installing all the drivers that people recommended from Realtek, nVidia and nothing has help me fixed the problem. is there a way that i could fix those problems?
