My Macbook Pro now 10GB RAM is this Flex mode?
Hey everyone, I just upgrade my Macbook Pro Ram. So the default is 2GB + 2GB = 4GB RAM now I took one 2GB stick out and install 8GB RAM in the slot. Now my MAC is 10GB RAM. It run so smooth, but I don't know if this Dual Channel, Single Channel or Flex. Someone told me this is Flex mode because I have 4GB Dual Channel and 6GB single channel. Is there any program to check which channel? By the way my Mac is 15 inch, non-retina, 2.3Ghz, Late 2012 but I bought in mid-2013 Haha.

My older macbook pro now says itunes not supported "on this type of Mac". Only change has been addition of Apple TV. The Apple TV remote is also controlling the Macbook. Is this the problem? How to fix?
Did you recently update OS X? The icon indicates you have a version of iTunes that is not compatible with the version of OS X you now have installed. The current version is Apple iTunes 11.0.2, and it's compatible with 10.6.8.

I recorded some trainings on my iPad2 by using QuickVoice then synced my iPad2 application QuickVoice to my MacBook Pro now I cannot find it on my macbook. I want to save it to my documents so as to have the ability to edit the recordings. How do I find it and move it to Documents?
What happens when you plug in the external HD? It should just mount automatically when connected to your computer and turned on.
If this isn't happening, launch Disk Utility to find out whether it can see, repair, and mount your drive.
Depending on how your internal HD was malfunctioning, you may end up having to replace it. Do you remember what problems were reported when you discovered that it couldn't be repaired? Did you try to repair it from a bootable external drive? -
Can I purchase Mountain Lion and make a flash drive bootable? I do not want to install it on my Macbook Pro. I have Snow Leopard on my Macbook Pro now, and due to my hard drive needing repair, I need to boot off of another source, like my flash drive. I am in Paris and my Snow Leopard DVD is in Texas.
Mac OS X has a built-in disk diagnostic and repair program called fsck or file system consistency check. Here’s how to verify and repair your startup disk with fsck. As soon as you hear the startup tone, press and hold Command-S on the keyboard. Keep holding down those keys until you see a black screen with white lettering. This is called “booting into Single User Mode.” As the Mac boots in this mode, the screen reports each step of the process. The line should end in root#. Right after the root# prompt, enter the following: /sbin/fsck -fy
If repairing the disk in single user mode fails, it means one of two things. Either your hard drive itself is failing (a hardware failure), or the directory damage on your hard drive is beyond the capability of the built-in repair procedures in OS X. -
Why I am buying a new MacBook Pro now, but, first, any major issues?
With the delay of Ivy Bridge, and with my personal view that the next generation of MacBook Pro notebooks will be dropping FireWire 800 to service a better design, I have decided to purchase a new MacBook Pro now.
I just cannot imagine the new notebooks having a FireWire or Ethernet port, as they add too much thickness.
While I keep MacBook Pros for up to 4-years, I think this new purchase will have to be a transition computer, as the next model will probably be too irresitable. Having the option of then moving my data via Thunderbolt to Thunderbolt (Tarket Disk Mode) is very appealing too.
So, any issues with the current line?
Specifically, has anyone had a screen flicker issue or anything else major?
Would anyone dare say Thunderbolt is unreliable?

First, people get their problems resolved here quickly. A majority of the issues here are "Newbie" issues.
I have been a Mac user since 2007, and I have been on these forums since that time too. I have never once seen a horror story like the ones found on the Dell, Lenovo, and HP support forums that pop up on an hourly basis.
Read those forums, and you will get tears in your eyes.
Anytime I have called Apple or visited an Apple Store, they have treated me like a God.
Apple hardware is bullet proof made of the best materials on the planet. A MacBook Pro is far stronger and more durable than any ThinkPad, Dell Precision, or HP Elitebook.
Just open up a MacBook Pro to look at the insides as compared to the disaster zones of the aforementioned PCs.
Oh.... and no bloody stickers on MY notebook.
Everything just works.
Little things come up, but they are always solved.
Now, add programs like Joint Venture, and heaven is a place on earth.
No PC company comes close to treating their customers the way Apple has treated me since 07.
Apple has earned my business for life.
Right now, I can schedule a call with Apple - What PC company does that?
Apple = Unequaled products, service, and support. No PC company can come close to any of those three traits.

I'm having problems with my internet since I have upgraded. I am afraid to upgrade on my Macbook pro now. I don't want the upgrade to slow down my laptops. Any suggestions?
Wifi issues are one of the common issues being reported by users. There is not much you can do at this point but wait and hope that th 10.8.1 update will address these issues.

What's the big difference? Thanks.Upgrade RAM yourself through macsales.com for $60. Use the remaining $140 of Apple's mmeory price and upgrade for $150 to hi-res (1680x1050) and anti-glare. I never regretted that upgrade on mine.

Hello. Although this may not be the right place to post my question, I hope to get some insight from users of the macbook pro. I am going to college next fall, hoping to major in Management Information Systems or Business Administration. My predicament is whether I should purchase a macbook pro now, allowing me to get used to it before college (as I am NOT a mac user, but have become quite interested). Or should I wait until some later release down the road...? Should I wait for a later release of the macbook pro, or allow myself time to get used to the operating system before college (what is the learning curve, and how much of a performance increase will we see before next autumn?) ??? Anybody?

I consider that a very misleading statement.
First, the majority of users will not recognice an issue unless their computer blows up in their face. That's how many companies get away with faulty products. If it wasn't for message boards ( cudos to Apple for maintaining one ) like this one, many customers would't be made aware of the shortcomings of a product they paid good money for.
Second, Apple's support is far from satisfactory, according to my own experience, and many reports I have seen. It might or might not stand out in the US market, but that is hardly a standard, it's just were the majority of user reports come from. -
When I try to migrate from imac to macbook pro my user account says "this user needs attention before migrating". My e-mail does not migrate in the process. This never happened before I updated to Maverick. I have repaired user permissions but this not make any difference
Just a Follow-up - the migration went fine. The migration did not import Little Snitch, Flip4Mac and DivX, stating they were incompatible. It also reported that Intego Back up Assistant has improper security setting (which I have not yet investigated).
I am encountering small problems. Safari would not open embedded pdf documents and instead showed a black screen. This was fixed with instructions found at http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/using/display-pdf-browser-acrobat-xi.html and it now works fine.
Importing 17 years of old mail from Eudora to Apple Mail was time consuming. mostly because of the pre-migration preening i did, but using Eudora file cleaner before the migrtaion helped a lot.
I amy find some more glitches, but so far everything seems to be working. -
If I buy a MacBook pro now, what will happen with it once the Lion OS makes it's appearance? Will I need to buy a new one again?
Lion will run on most Intel machines. It will not run on the following machines:
MacBook Pro (sold before October 2006)
MacBook (sold before November 2006)
Mac Mini (sold before August 2007)
iMac (sold before September 2006)
It requires an Intel Core 2 Duo (or later CPU). Those machines listed above were all Intel Core Duo machines and with the exception of one of the Mac Minis, an Intel Core Solo. So we're talking 4+ year old machines. I have not tested Lion on a machine with anything less than 2GB of RAM.

The biggest thing of note so far is that you cannot install/run Rosetta. Which maybe problematic for some users. -
i have an iphone and i took notes on it today and i want it to appear on my macbook pro. how do i do this. i think the phone is under a yahoo account and my computer is under something else. how do i log out of the yahoo acct and into the other.

Hard drive crashed on macbook pro. now i want to recover all my photos on my iPhone (iPhone photos, favorites, stream, etc..) w/ out loosing. do i simply sync my iPhone? paranoid i will wipe iPhone photos when synching to new hard drive image and new iTunes image.
In addition, i lost all of my music when hard drive crashed (time machine backup was corrupted also), is there anyway to recover iTunes music. Music was a combination of purchased, CD's burned, diverse music library, etc.....

I have a Power Mac G4 (2004) and want to transfer all my files to a new MacBook Pro 15.4". Can this be done thru firewire cable or do I have to transfer to an external Firewire 800 hard drive first?
Do it with a Firewire cable (buy a 800/400 adapter if you need it) - the USB transfer takes a much longer time.
Start up your old PowerMac G4 holding down the "T" key, for target disk mode.
On your new MacBook Pro open "Migration Assistant" in your utilities folder.
Connect the 2 computers by firewire cable and follow the prompts in Migration Assistant.

Way To Turn off mpeg preview in Finder?
