My MacBook Pro October 2012 model just shut off at 53% battery.
Now it won't even light up to indicate that it's plugged it, and won't turn back on. Any suggestions would be much appreciate. I've tried another Power AC Adapter, and still no luck. The SMC Reset requires me to remove the battery, which Apple strongly urges I not do, and it's a pain anyway.
Feel free to request any additional data!
That instructs me to turn on the computer, type a combination, then wait for it to restart.
In case I didn't make it clear, my computer will not turn on. At all. Pressing the Power button yields no result...it's as if it's out of battery, but plugging it in yields no result - it won't even light up. HOWEVER, it's not out of battery...when it crashed, it had about 53%.
Nevertheless, I tried that. Didn't work.
Thanks for your help, got any other ideas?

My Macbook pro Mid 2012 Model Seems to be using too much RAM
Hello everybody, I recenlty bought a Macbook pro Mid 2012 Model and I absolutely fell in love with it! I use it everyday for school, work, and for my musical hobby.
I haven't had a single problem with it until recently, and it seems like the RAM memory is being all used up without me even running programs. This problem barely started rougly 2-3 weeks ago and it's becoming annoying. I do plan to upgrade the ram soon seeing as the extra RAM will help run my engineering software I'm going to be using.
Anywho I'm just looking for tips, suggestions or answers as to why this problem is occuring. Also heard from a fellow employee that Google Chrome can cause this problem with RAM and battery life as well.Stop using Chrome for any number of reasons and stick to Safari. An aspect of OS X memory management is to take over as much memory as possible in order to better manage the memory, however, this does not mean you are running out of memory. You only run out of memory when you try to run too many applications concurrently given the amount of RAM you have. You will know when that happens because the computer will slow down, you will see the beachball a lot, everything you do takes forever, and the hard drive will be grinding away.
About OS X Memory Management and Usage
Using Activity Monitor to read System Memory & determine how much RAM is used
OS X Mavericks- About Activity Monitor
Understanding top output in the Terminal
The amount of available RAM for applications is the sum of Free RAM and Inactive RAM. This will change as applications are opened and closed or change from active to inactive status. The Swap figure represents an estimate of the total amount of swap space required for VM if used, but does not necessarily indicate the actual size of the existing swap file. If you are really in need of more RAM that would be indicated by how frequently the system uses VM. If you open the Terminal and run the top command at the prompt you will find information reported on Pageins () and Pageouts (). Pageouts () is the important figure. If the value in the parentheses is 0 (zero) then OS X is not making instantaneous use of VM which means you have adequate physical RAM for the system with the applications you have loaded. If the figure in parentheses is running positive and your hard drive is constantly being used (thrashing) then you need more physical RAM.
Adding RAM only makes it possible to run more programs concurrently. It doesn't speed up the computer nor make games run faster. What it can do is prevent the system from having to use disk-based VM when it runs out of RAM because you are trying to run too many applications concurrently or using applications that are extremely RAM dependent. It will improve the performance of applications that run mostly in RAM or when loading programs. -
Factory resetting a macbook pro 13" 2012 model with 10.9.4 OS running
Hi. I have a macbook pro 13" 2012 model with 10.9.4 OS running. I want to restore it back to factory settings. I tried the command R at the boot but after downloading the os through internet, it does not allow me to install it. The error is shown that i have a newer os and cannot install it to the older one. So is there any other way to do this?
Also when i use the option key at boot up it shows Recovery 10.9 and when i click on that the mac shuts down, every time.
Thanks.Boot into Internet Recovery mode, ⌘⌥+R, select Disk Utility, and erase and reformat the HD, quit Disk Utility, and restore the OS. That should put the OS the machine shipped with on the HD.
iMac (27-inch Mid 2011), OS X Mavericks (10.9.4), SL & ML, G4 450 MP w/Leopard, 9.2.2 -
I recently attempted to re-install Mountain Lion on my MacBook Pro late 2012 model and the internet recovery is failing. I have absolutely no clue what to do here. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
- Currently if I boot it up there is a flashing folder icon with a question mark in it. I am assuming this means there is no OS because I wiped the SSD and tried to reinstall Mountain Lion
- When I hold Command+R, it prompts me to Choose Network... the problem with this is the wifi constantly is disconnecting. The Retina 2012 does not have an ethernet port so i have considered buying the attachment then returning when done.
Once again Thank you in advance.
Best. There is nothing to do if you don't have a reliable Internet connection unless you have a copy of the Mountain Lion installer application from when you first installed it.
Install or Reinstall Mavericks or Mountain Lion from Scratch
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
OS X Mavericks- Erase and reinstall OS X
OS X Mountain Lion- Erase and reinstall OS X
OS X Lion- Erase and reinstall Mac OS X
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless. -
Is the bumbed MacBook pro the 2012 model?
Is the bumbed MacBook pro the 2012 model?
This isn't 2012, so no, it's not a 2012 model, it's a late 2011 model (which is what Apple probably officially calls it). Whether there will be other new models released next year, no one here can say.
Regards. -
I have a Macbook Pro late 2012 model with intel processor and 4G of RAM. I upgraded to Yosemite and now my system is so slow. I do not have a backup to revert to because of insufficient space. I have ordered a 1T external drive to do a backup now. What can I do to improve my system performance? Do I need to upgrade RAM or do I have to reinstall Mtn Lion?

SSD Upgrade MacBook Pro Mid 2012 (Model: 9,2)
Hey guys!
Well as some of you might already have read, I will upgrade the RAM of my MacBook Pro, and since I decided to do this, I tought that why maybe not do the SSD as well. I want to know which is the best option for an High Quality SSD for my MacBook Pro Mid 2012 (Intel Core i5 2.5 MHz, 4GB RAM (upgrading to 16GB). I've read that Crucial, but I want an SSD with more than 512 GB which is the amount my Mac came with in the default HD.
Thanks!
Later.OWC offers a 960GB SSD with top reliability and storage capacity:
http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/internal_storage/SSD/Mercury_Electra_3G_Solid_Sta te
For a little less, Crucial has a reliable SSD available:
http://www.amazon.com/Crucial-2-5-Inch-adapter-Internal-CT960M500SSD1/dp/B00BQ8R GL6/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1373169624&sr=8-8&keywords=crucial+SSD
Personally, I chose Crucial. -

Great. Then problems with the SDD itself are far less likely.
Yosemite installs fine and I can run normally.
Good. then your Yosemite Installer is not damaged, and your SSD is probably good.
As soon as I put it into the internal the Yosemite install just never finishes, time keeps restarting.
I can see the SSD i can copy files but I can't install Yosemite. what do think I can do??
Then there is a problem with that setup. If you have installed onto it as an external, it is unlikely to be a Drive format problem. But to give yourself the best possible outcomes, use Disk Utility to erase the SSD before the Install.
Be methodical. Use a process of elimination. What can you trust, and what are you not sure of?
It still could be a marginal Drive cable. ifixit and other sellers can sell you a new cable for very little money. -

I got macbook pro about a year and a half ago and up until now it has been running fine.
However, in the last few days, it has been started to run tediously slowly!
It wont allow me to open applications and i have to force quit out of any applications I finally manage to have because they freeze or stop responding.
On Google Chrome, pages become unresponsive every few minutes.
Even writing this post took more than 20 minutes as the laptop kept freezing and the webpage became unresponsive.
It also randomly shuts off and when it restarts, a message comes up saying my Macbook was restarted because of an error.
I haven't downloaded or updated anything that I know of recently that would have caused this.
Ive been reading through some of the fourms on this and I thought it'd be helpfull to post some of the information you may need to help me solve this problem!
Id be very gratefull if any of you could help! Thanks!

This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2. -

My MacBook pro will take forever to shut off sometimes?
When I want to tern off my MacBook pro sometimes it will take forever to tern off so I have to let the battery drain out and then when I use it again I have to plug it back in?
never....ever.....let your battery drain all the way down.....it can do more harm to your macbook or battery....
once you're up and running - open disk utility and verfiy your disk permissions - repair if needed then restart your macbook.....if problem persists, verify your disk and see if there are any errors.... -
Macbook pro charge cord stopped working & shuts off unexpectedly
Hello,
All of a sudden, my charge cord has stopped working - I'm not sure if it's my actual computer or the cord. It does not light up at all anymore and the battery icon says "not charging" sometimes. It also will shut off unexpectedly and when I manually turn it on I get this message "can't verify the identify of the website" and the clock gets set back....helpDoes your MBP get HOT when you are playing games, as they use quite a bit it the way computing cycles and generate a lot of heat. I had this issue with my kids machine, try rasing the MBP up off ahy hard surface you mat have it on while playing. (I used 2 1"X1" strips of wood the increase air flow around the machine. The exhaust vents are in the back under the hinge, keep yhem clear. This simple fix seemed to work, no more problems. There also cooling trays with fans that are commecially avaiable. Are your fans spinnig up to cool the MBP? If not you might want to try a smc reset which controls the fans.

Hope this helps -
MAcbook Pro 10.5.1 intermittently switching off when using battery only
Very recently, my macbook pro has started switching itself off. It only happen when using the battery and the charge meter (on the battery) still shows at least 50% charge. It would appear that I can not reboot wither until the mains are attached again. I no longer receive the warning message regarding reserve power, and have previously run the lappy down to 5-6% charge before a recharge.
I have had 10.5.1 installed since its release, and this issue has only just started in the last week, despite daily usage.
Has anyone else had this or similar issues? It seems unlikely thatt it is hardware and I've cchecked the connections and they appear ok. Please help, its very annoying.
Thanks in advance,
GrahamThis sounds exactly like what was happening to me last fall - around Labor Day. This is a battery problem not an OS problem. I called Apple Care and they sent a new battery (after we tried all the PRAM stuff, etc.). The new battery took care of the problem.
I hope this helps. Good luck.

Adding Oracle JDBC driver to Analyzer 6.5
Hi all,We're currently trying to establish an Oracle Relational Database connection from Analyzer 6.5 (running on DB2 as repository). Unfortunately Analyzer 6.5 did not include Oracle JDBC driver with the installation (it claims it did in the docs).
