My macbook pro order completely disappeared...?

I ordered my first ever apple product (15in macbook pro) yesterday.  I checked my order history this morning and was told that I hadn't ordered anything from apple. I called customer support but the automated robot hung up on me due to an extremely high number of calls. I should have printed my invoice but I didn't because I foolishly believed that I would be able to access it online later. All day yesterday, apple was telling me that they had received my order and were waiting to process it. Apple never sent me an email telling me that my order had been cancelled and I don't want to reorder until I know that my first order actually never went through or was cancelled. Has anyone ever had a similar experience? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Same situation for me after ordering last night. Order was showing as processing yesterday, but completely gone today.  Finally spoke to someone at Apple who could not locate the order but suggested waiting a few hours and calling back.  Seemed to suggest that there may be some issues due to the high order volume on Black Friday.

    Hey guys!
    Kinda my first post here (go easy on me!)
    I ordered my MacBook Pro first thing Wednesday 26th April morning... and it said same day it shipped, which is good!
    On the order status page it now says
    "Shipped on Apr 26, 2006 via Flextronics c/o Express Cargo"
    "Estimated delivered May 5, 2006"
    Apparently now according to the sales rep I'm just waitin for my Apple Care plan to come from Holland? :S And I should call them next wednesday if I dont have it.
    The guy said to me that it was in Northamptonshire, and waitin for the AppleCare package or something
    (Even though the status of that on the Apple Order Status is "Complete")
    Who knows the workings of the minds of the Apple delivery system!
    I just wondered what everyone elses experiences were with this stuff...

    ya most of the time they are righ refurb products sometime take about one to two days after that ship date for some reason but every time i order from apple it is early.
    enjoy your macbook pro they are awesome if i had the money i would have bought one instead of my macbook but i love it.

  • I keep getting the endless blue circle when trying to watch netflix on my macbook pro, despite completely uninstalling/reinstalling silverlight?

    I'm putting this question in the Macbook Pro category because I'm not having this problem on a similar age Macbook Air, both of which are running Lion, so I'm wondering if its not something to do with the graphics card or something else specific to this laptop?  The software suite isn't the same between the two computers, so that could also be an issue, if anyone has any ideas about what software may be interfering.
    The long and short of it is that when I try to watch netflix on my 2011 Macbook Pro, I get the Silverlight blue dots that spin around in a circle in the middle of the screen, and that's it.  I assumed it was a silverlight problem, so I completely uninstalled/trashed the silverlight plugin and all its associated files (having read other forums where detailed command-line instructions were given) and reinstalled, and I still have the same problem.  And it occurs in 3 browsers: chrome, firefox, and safari.
    And here's the real kicker -- I'm running Windows 7 in Parallels.....and when I try to watch netflix on my VM, I no longer get the blue circle....BUT the movies/shows don't play.  I can scroll through the entire show and the current frame will come up, but it will not play --- the play button is depressed (ie, I can only see a pause button) but nothing happens -- it's as if the

    There are several issues for sure you may be dealing with all of which may be related. I would start by saying that you experienced a "Kernel Panic" during the boot camp partition, described in article http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1392. I would advise that for the heat issue and the kernel panics in conjunction, may be a good push to get diagnostics at a retail store or apple service provider.

  • Battery LIfe in Macbook Pro 2012- complete joke

    Hi All, just got a new macbook pro for xmas. It was a refurbushed one from July 2012 which comes with warranty etc etc.
    Firstly am pretty annoyed as think Appple is really going downhill fast (iphone 5 have seem issues with battery but service in hk ***). The battery on this new computer has a complete life span on 2.42hours. This is with only this webpage open so thus my concern. It is just crap. That cant be right i am guessing as the website says up to 7hrs.
    I timed it to take 16% of the full charged battery within 20mins using nothing but very light web browser.
    I used to have a macbook pro 2010 which was great but this just seems rubbish. I live in hong kong though and find any issue you have is not recieved with the neccessary service that i am used to in my home country in Australia. They will just tell me to take it to the repair centre. Personally think this is unacceptable as why should i have to do all the leg work on there new computer which is faulty.
    Is this a common problem re battery? Also am i in my rights to the peopleat the store that it simply isnt god enough and they should do the legwork rather then me having to take it to the service centre.(i brought it off the apple online store)

    Yes the 2010 MBPs were the most efficient MBPs made in terms of battery life (and the 10.6 OS).  I have one.  The subsequent quad core/10.7 OS changed that some what with a lesser battery life span.  I also have a 2011 MBP. 
    I would say that 2,42 hrs would be disappointing to me as well for light duty CPU loads.  Now understand that Apples battery life claims are based on Ebenezer Scrooge setting.  My rule of thumb that for my 'normal' use will be about 2/3s of Apples advertised times.
    I do note your general satisfaction, but as a fellow user there is nothing that I can do to assist you in that area  All I can do is point you to these two articles that may give some strategies where you may be able to increase the battery life:

  • Macbook pro retina airplay disappearing, need help

    I just bought a macbook pro retina and an apple tv. So, this all week i was doing some search and reading forums but i`ve never seen anybody have this problem yet. I can use my apple tv with my Ipad and Iphone perfectly, but my macbook pro refuses to work. My airplay sign in the right-top side of the screen is keep disappearing and i can`t see my apple tv there. They are both connected to same Wi-Fi and i restarted both, I reset all my settings on both, vs.. Nothing changed so far. My macbook pro and apple tv is up-to-date too. So is there anybody can help me ?

    You are still under warranty.  Call Apple Care. Make sure you get a case number as all repairs have an additional 90 days of warranty.

    #4 - If you've purchased an AppleCare Protection Plan, your warranty last for 3 years.   You can obtain AppleCare anytime up to the first year of the purchase of your computer.
    Take FULL advantage of your warranty.  Posting on a message board should be done as a last resort and if you are out of warranty or Apple Care has expired.

  • Refurbished Macbook Pro order suddenly got cancelled without any reason

    Hi,
    Yesterday I ordered Refurbished Macbook Pro (http://store.apple.com/us/product/FC721LL/A). I got the order number as well but didn't get any confirmation email. I talked to customare care and they said that it will reflect after 30 mins. But today morning when I checked my order on apple online store, it says that My order status = Cancelled. I checked by bank account and they have already processed my debit card and it is showing as "Transcaction is Processing". I don't know why they suddenly cancelled my Order? Is anybody has any idea?

    I have a 27inch iMac with 1 TB of storage - so I store all media, etc. on there so not too concerned with the small space on the Macbook, will jsut house files I am working on at the time on the macbook pro, everything will live on the iMac.
    Will use the Macbook pro for safari, itunes, maybe a littke iworks and some minor video editing...
    Any feedback on the purchase

    Wont be going mobile too much... will take it with me the odd time, was going to buy a nice back pack from the apple store for when I travel with it, but it will mainley stay at my home.
    As for the 17inch, wanted to go big as possible... the 17inch is the only thing I was not thinking of changing... anything else is in play... staying within that 3 K budget of course (which I am at with the specs above)

  • MacBook Pro port icons disappearing from Unibody...

    Hi,
    I was wondering if the following issue is normal. I have a mid 2010 MacBook Pro and today I looked at the ports of the computer and noticed that both the icons that indetify the ethernet and magsafe ports are fading away.  Most of the time the MacBook Pro is stored in its original box after use (wrapped in its plastic cover). Only on Wednesdays and Saturdays, I place it in a laptop suitcase for college. Is this normal for a computer that is 1year and a half old? Is this normal wear and tear? I can understand the icon fading away in the magsafe port as I charge the computer after using it with the battery, but I can't understand why the ethernot port icon is fading away as I never used that port.

  • Brand New Retina Macbook Pro - Mouse Cursor Disappears

    Just bought this new MBP Retain, 13" with the 2.6ghz processor and have not installed much on it. I think the only program I've installed is Spotify.
    Aside from that, I'm using it as is, out of the box. No external mouse, keyboard, or any other application aside from an equally new iPhone 5S.
    I've had this issue 3 times within the 3 days of ownership, where the mouse cursor will completely disappear from the sceen and it doesn't come back. The computer still functions and I can still do a few things like type (if I'm inside a textbox already, I think), as well as change the volume, brightness and activate the Power button (however, I can't select anything).
    I have to do a hard reset to get it back.
    This is pretty frustrating for a brand new product. I don't think it's linked to any external factors as nothing additional has been added.

    VMWare and Chrome are not running at the same time. I'm describing two separate tests.
    I'm saying any program that uses a moderate amount of CPU (15-25% of total available CPU capacity) causes the MBP to exceed 200ºF with fans running full speed. Chrome is not the problem, it's an example. VMWare is not the problem, just another example. Probably if I fire up iMovie and start rendering video the same thing will happen. I just don't understand why the MBP can't keep its temperature below 200ºF with the fans on full speed.
    If I max out all 8 cores by running 8 instances of "yes > dev/null" in Terminal the temperature reaches 213ºF.

  • MacBook Pro internal speakers disappeared and keyboard won't light up

    yesterday I realized my internal speakers were not working on my MacBook Pro. The red light comes off in the headphone jack. I tried to plug my headphones and take them out to get my computer to recognize the internal speaker but nothing seems to be working. i was using mountain lion so I decided to install yosemite to see if that would fix my problem but it did not. In fact this morning after Yosemite was installed I noticed that my keyboard lights were also "locked" just like my speakers. I tried the PRAM reboot and the sudo terminal code but none of these have worked so far... Any ideas of what I could do?
    I Would like to specify that in my preferences for sound nothing is muted not is the wrong device selected, there are no devices available as if my internal speakers had disapeared

    1. Applications > Utilities > Audio MIDI Setup
        Audio Devices window
        Side Bar
        Click the Built-in Output.
        Under Mute any of the boxes checked? If so, uncheck it.
        Make sure that CH1 and CH2 volume sliders are at the middle and matched.
    2. System Preferences > Sound> Sound Effects
        Play sound effects through:
       Select "Internal speakers" and then back to "Selected sound output device".
    If this does not help, you have to take the computer to the Apple store to have it checked out.

  • My brand new Macbook PRO crashed completely after it went through the iOS 10.7.4 update, I lost everything and Apple just wants to replace the HD and let me deal with the hassle.

    Last Thursday May 10th I received a prompt from the Automatic Update to update the iOS to Ver. 10.7.4, set the start and was watching the progress when it stopped with an error message saying that it was not able to update, right below there was a buttom "RESTART", pressed the buttom and waited to re-boot.....That was the end of my computer, somehow the update crashed my HD beyond recover, it would only show the gray screen with Apple logo in the center and kept beeping, BEEP BEEP BEEP.....PAUSE.....BEEP BEEP BEEP.....PAUSE.....on and on and on and it never past that.
    Friday May 11 I took it to a retailer where I received the bad news that the HD was crashed and the teck couldn't even try to copy anything from it as it couldn't locate it. I checked iCloud on a hope that all my stuff would be there but new surprise, iCloud didn't kept all of my stuff as it was programmed to.
    Now here is the funny part, the tech from the retailer informed me that the only thing they could do was to order a new HD for my 4 months old Macbook and that the time to have my computer back will be at least 15 days, now that is the funny part, I fail to understand why do I have to suffer the hassle of loosing all my data plus wait at least 15th days to have my computer back (meanwhile loose work) on a problem caused by Apple, PROBLEM, not machine defect, clearly my computer had no problem untill I followed the procedure to update.
    On Saturday May 12 I contacted Local Apple Support (I have failed to mention that I live in Brasil) and they informed me that what the dealer said was the only thing that could be done, too bad for me if I lost everything, going to loose several days of work and whenever I receive my computer back will have to re-construct all my life and deal with the forever lost data.....DEAL WITH IT
    After a couple of discussion with Apple Support and the Dealer, I made my decision to take the Macbook to the dealer today for repair and meanwhile I'm opening a case with the Brazilian Justice to have Apple honor with all the trouble and hassle that it is causing me, it's said that I have to take this type of action as I'm a very fan of Apple and it's products, have had several iPods, iPhones, Macbooks, Keyboards, Mouses, Apple TV, etc.....This i the first time I have a problem with a Apple product and got a taste of the "Apple Care", it seems like Apple is more concerned on seeling products then keeping long time customers happy.
    One last thing, today when I was at the dealer to drop my computer for repair, the Technician informed me that he also had a computer crashed and the HD erase on Sunday May 13th in the same way of mine, after the update everything was gone, also he said that we were not the only ones, iPads and iPhones were going trough the same situation, update causing complete breakdown.
    WORD OF ADVISE, BE 1000% SURE THAT YOU HAVE EVRYTHING BACKED UP BEFORE YOU GO THROUGH AN UPDATE.

    That's exactly what Time Machine does for you.  It backs up every hour, so you don't have to.  While it is backing up, you keep on working.  Time Macvhine came with your Mac and you chose not to use it.
    The 10.7.4 update did not cause your hard disk to fail.  Hard disk fail due to mechanical causes.  They are extremely reliable, but that doesn't mean every hard disk will last a long time.  Your mileage WILL vary!
    If you are dependent on your computer and the data stored on it, then you should make sure you have AT LEAST two copies of all data and probably three or four.  You should use at least two means of backing up in case the backup software has a problem.  And you should consider having a backup computer if you live in an area where replacement takes too long (whatever too long is for your business).
    Apple hardware and software is very, very good.  You have documented your experience of this.  But NO hardware or software is perfect.  You also have experience of this.
    It is YOUR responsibility to ensure that your system is set up to protect your data and availability of computing resources.

  • MacBook Pro order still Processing????

    I placed an order for a base model 15" Pro on friday... the order status is still "Processing Items" (4 days now) I thought these were supposed to be in stock?? it says delivers Nov 27th which is tomorrow... anybody else getting delays like this? any idea what is up?

  • 2011 Macbook pro wont complete bootup. Is hardrive dead?

    My macbook froze today on the desktop after I logged in. I was forced to turn it off by holding the power button and now I am unable to get it to boot up. It will turn on and get about 2/3rds through the progress bar, then the progress bar and apple logo disapear and I'm left with the grey screen
    I suspect the hard drive has died but I need to be sure before I fork out £100+ for a new 500gb SSD. How can i be sure this is the problem?
    I've tried the usual PRAM and SMC resets, they appeared to work but still no boot up. I'm also able to hold Option at startup and choose to boot into bootcamp or the Recovery Partition, but these also greyscreen/blackscreen after attempting to boot up for a few seconds
    Finally, I've tried doing a safe boot by holding Shift+CMD+V and I've recorded it on my iPhone. It shows the log and cuts out at the same point every time:
    Is this helpful? would it be naive of me to post a full video? because I can do this if it would help diagnose my hard drive as dead

    LATEST UPDATE: So it seemed to be periodically working and my 3 year warranty has been out for a little while now so I was kind of happy with that, but then it finally died and never got past the grey screen again, so I reluctantly took it to an apple store to see how big the repair bill would be.
    The 'genius' ran some pretty cool diagnostics (which the geek within me enjoyed) and agreed with what we'd eventually concluded here, that the graphics card had died. He then confirmed that my warranty was way out of date, but then instead of quoting me a huge repair bill, tapped away at his iPad for a few minutes and said that since I'd bough the Macbook direct from Apple and from the UK online store, he could put it through for free repair based on UK Consumer Law?!?!?! FANTASMICAL NEWS!!!!!
    So its currently being repaired completely free, saving me at least £400 already, as well as a small list of other potential fixes we then discussed... since it was free
    I have since looked quite a long way into these consumer laws. In short, it guarantees you to get some decent mileage out of a product that would be expected to last a long time (up to 6 years).
    In the real world, this will usually translate into having an argument with a bloke from Currys about your dishwasher that broke after 2 years and him saying you only had a years warranty. They tend to deny knowledge of these laws in the hope that you'll give up and go away, and you might need threaten to go through the small claims court before they actually sort it out for you. Alternatively, at Apple they seem to treat it like a free 6 year warranty for everyone (2 years for iPhones/iPads) and will tell you about it even if you didn't know
    tl;dr Apple customer service is awesome and saved me big monies

  • Apartment number missing from shipping address on my Macbook Pro order. Anything I could do?

    The shippment form didn't like it when I included the apartment and building number on the same line (ex: 123-46 Downtown st.), So I wrote the apartment number on the next line, which is designated for that. However, in the shipping information I've recieved after having ordered the product, the building address is correct, but instead of the apartment number underneath it says the name of the building. Is there any way to deal with this? Also, If I'm not there to personally answer the door for the UPS employee twice, the package goes back to apple? If that happens, do I get all my money back?
