My macbook pro refuses to conect to my wifi.
I have internet at my house, it's wifi, every other computer in my house has absolutely no problem connecting. This is my first mac item ever and I'm not too good with it, but for some reason it refuses to connect to my wifi. I have unplugged my router and replugged it, checked the password, everything the Hello booklet told me to do, and all my other computers are fine, just this one is acting up. please help and be specific, I'm the only one in my family to have an apple computer.
Ok two things. One is this product that costs two bucks. My iBook could not connect to my Netgear router and it sucked. One reason was that old unit didn't support WPA and it couldn't handle the N standard. Some units like my iMac can be enabled to handle the faster N standard.

check out that page and use the network utility as described. Pull down the menu to select the airport card in your power book and see if you are running g or n.
The next thing just comes from my suspicions about people. You got a fancy new computer people get jealous and lock you out. Just speculation since nothing you have said indicated that you didn't get all the information about your network.
One additional thing that you may have tried already. Plug in directly to the modem or router with an ethernet cable. The electronics associated with that are pretty standard and stable. You will still need an internet provider and the info from them and you may still need the password to the router though if you make yourself the admin on the router you can make a new network and make sure everyone can get in. My iMac was the computer I used to set up my Motorola Surfboard900 and PC's had no trouble connecting to the network I set up. I ran the setup software with my computer connected via ethernet, put in the stuff from internet provider, created a new network and made sure everyone had the right password to put in their laptops and phones etc. Did the same with the wifi printer. Point being that Mac shares very well and once it is set up the Mac doesn't even need to be there.

After a year of no use and a resulting fully discharged battery, the MacBook Pro refuses to recognize the administrator name and password (both). It has system OS X 10.6 which can not be upgraded without the information. How can I reset or reistall the administrator name and password?
Thanks to all who responded. You are all absolutely correct. However, this Ipad was a gift to my wife who was dying of cancer in the hospital and wanted some entertainment. So I started it out with her Apple ID. After she passed away I moved from Sacramento to Austin and eventually proceeded to get the Apple ID changed from my wife's to mine. Meanwhile when she was in the hospital I opened an Itunes account in my name to buy movies for her. That was the first mistake.
Then during the move to Austin I lost track of the IPAD and later found it and tried to use support but could not remember the proper ID. Later the folks at the Apple store helped me create a new and novel Apple ID that was unfortunately unlike any other.
The botom line is that I am stuck with three Apple IDs and three passwords. I am told by Apple there is nothing they can do about this as IDs cannot be changed or destroyed. I can quit using them or start a new account but when I try to do that the system keeps remembering too many things from the past and resists.
Even if I sold this Ipad and bought a new one, the system memory is still there.
I think the real problem is that destop and laptop computers are totally owned by an individual and that individual can control logins and passwords to his liking. IPADs and similar Apple products are different in that the corporation has built in their own intrusion detection schemes because of the relation to Itunes.
One thing I thought about is to open a new Itunes account pretendding to be a new customer with my regular Apple ID. Perhaps I could do the same with Apple Support.

MacBook Pro refuses to recognize mouse
Suddenly my MacBook Pro refuses to recognize any mouse. Any ideas pn what can be done? I have rebooted and installed new batteries in both an apple mouse and a Logitech mouse but no response from the MacBook.
Have you tried other headphones just to rule out the problem is not with the connector on the headphone? Are all Apple updates applied? Try a SMC reset: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964

Late 2011 Macbook Pro refuses to boot. SMC reset does nothing. Have tried bypassing SMC (nothing).
Magsafe light glows very very faintly (barely visible in a room with lights on).
Have tried reseating the battery connector. Battery indicator status button illuminates no LEDS (despite it being charged before failing).
The mac didn't get wet. Was using a non apple USB cable at the time to tether/charge iphone. Computer just dead after working fine.
Any ideas anyone. Logic board?

So only do this through step #3!
Wait 10 seconds. Push the power button for 5 seconds. Wait 10 seconds. Reconnect the battery. Put the bottom back on don't screw it on just yet. Tape it temporarily in place and try to start it
Even if it's a 15" or 17" try this anyway. Usually when graphics on the logic board fails there will have been anomalies beforehand. -
I have a new macbook pro. I'm seeing my wife's iphone contacts on my icloud. I've done everything I know to do to make sure my apple id is correct and has my information. I can't figure out how to remove her contacts and add my iphone contacts to the cloud or my macbook pro. Any suggestions? Thanks.

How do I set up two separate iTunes accounts on one MacBook Pro in order to manage the wife's iPhone and my iPhone (with separate info on each of course) ? Can this be done? A little step by step would be greatly appreciated; just short step by step though, I can follow fairly well.

I have a MacBook Pro. My mac can detect wifi. But will not connect anywhere. I did get connected via TCP/IP settings but I can't connect to any wifi anywhere. Network diagnostic has a green light for wi-fi and wi-fi settings. Red light for the rest. (Network settings, ISP, Internet and server.)

So, about a week ago my macbook pro started having lots of issues: wifi connectivity, slow performance, sound issues, spotlight wasn't working. After going through the issues with apple support, they decided the best course of action was to erase the hard drive and do a reinstall. Since I have a recent backup this seemed like a good enough option. They were kind enough to send me a copy of the snow leopard disk to do the install since we couldn't get it to complete through the disk utility. Not sure why, since it says we are fully connected, it just never completed.
Anyway, so now that you have the background here is the new issue. The macbook pro keeps spitting out the disk I'm trying to install from. Disk utility and using the 'Startup Disk' function from the apple menu doesn't read the disk.
Can anyone suggest a solution to this vexing problem?

Setting up new ipad 2. Won't accept my PW for my Airport Extreme (Wi Fi network?) Where is the PW for my Wi Fi? I am stymied. Can I set up through my MacBook Pro, which IS connected to my WiFi network?
If you could provide the make and model number of the modem that the AirPort Extreme will be connecting to, we can likely tell you a bit more about what to expect in the way of getting the AirPort set up and working.
Unfortunately, "plug and play" does not apply here. You will need to set up and configure the AirPort Extreme using your iPad or iMac to name the AirPort as a device, assign a device password, name the wireless network, assign a device password and a few other things.
Once the AirPort Extreme is set up, you can connect the PC to one of the LAN <--> ports on the AirPort Extreme using an Etherent cable.
The iPad and iMac will connect to the wireless network that the AirPort Extreme provides. -

Select the wi-fi tab in the menu bar then select "Open Network Preferences..." Select the "Advanced" button, then select the network that it is interfering with your MBP, then hit the - button and it will "forget" that network. Hope that fixes your problem, good luck.
