My macbook pro screen keeps turning blue?

This just started about ten minutes ago but its happened three times so I'm kind of concerned. My screen background on my Macbook Pro turned blue after I refreshed a Netflix page. None of my open windows shut down but the image I have as my background was gone and the light blue screen took its place. When I went back into my settings to put the picture back up, it showed that it was still set as my desktop screen, even though it clearly was not. I had to click on another image and then click back on the one I wanted to get it to reset. Is there any reason why this is happening? And can I fix it or do I have to take it in to the apple store and see if they can take a look at it?

A few suggestions:
When troubleshooting, disconnect all devices from your computer.
Restart in Safe Mode:  Mac OS X: Starting up in Safe Mode
Boot up from your install DVD and run "Repair Disk" from the Utility menu.
Restart
After you reach your desktop, repair permissions and again restart your computer.  Directions are in the OS Help Menu if you need assistance.
You should call Apple tech support before your standard warranty runs out.  Hopefully, you have AppleCare.
Hey, thanks for your suggestions but when I tried the first part which was the run in safe mode it only made parts of it, specifically safari, lag even more to the point where I could not load pages without it lagging. For the second part about the repair disk, is that the same thing as re-booting your mac or is it different thing? Thanks again for your help!

  • MacBook Pro Screen suddenly turns blue

I have a MacBook Pro that I've had for about two years now.  Lately, I will be surfing the net (generally use Firefox), and my screen suddenly turns blue.  If I close the lid, reopen, and push the power button, it fires back up.  Anyone have any ideas what might be causing this problem?

I have exactly the same problem 3 month ago and until now it still happen. I took my macbook pro into apple store two time. first time, they check that diagnosis of the hardward generated and it turn out clear. nothing happen to it. then they check my software and find that there is something wrong with safari. so they decided to reinstall everything.
And they told me to not install everything back from your time machine just install the folder that I want. And try that for 2 weeks. Since that it been working fine until last week, macbook suddenly turn blue again but this time it shown random colour with line and shape before it turn to blue screen.
Now i dont know what to do as mine warranty just expired 3 days before it happen. I think it gonna cost a lot without warranty.

For several months my MacBook Pro screen randomly shuts off. The keyboard is on. To fix it I use the power button to shut the computer off. Today the entire computer turned off. It took several tries to turn it back on. What is causing this?

    Are kernel panics occurring?

  • MacBook Pro screen randomly turns black on me for no reason while I'm using it? What's wrong with my MacBook?

I have a MacBook Pro from 2009 and the screen randomly turns black on me for no reason while I'm using it? It takes anywhere from 5 seconds to 1 minute to turn back on and no matter what I do it just has to fix itself so idk if it is going in to sleep mode or what. Anyone know the issue? Thanks.

Run through them and stop after #16 or if the problem stops, or if something tells you something severe (like hardware test giving a error)
If you can backup your personal data off the machine, you should do that first.
Hardware issues we cant' fix, only a few things may fix it.
Software issues we can fix, but right now we don't know what is causing your issue as we can't see it obviously.
So your going through a process of elimination to try to give us a clue what's the problem and then we can advise a course of action.
If you feel this is way over your head, then just make a appointement with Apple and/or your local PC/Mac specialist.

  • MacBook pro screen wont turn on mechine turns on but front sleep light is dim

So I was just browsing on chrome on my MacBook pro and suddenly the screen froze and from the top of the screen it started to get dim and came down right to the center of the screen and then another black shade ontop of that came down and stopped in the middle it did this until the top half was completely dark but the bottom half is ok and nothing happend oh by the way I was just on Facebook I wasn't on a website that was harmful to the Mac so any ways I then I held the power button until it turns off thinking it would work normaly but it didnt, when I turned it on I heard the fan turn really fast and then it slowed down and the front sleep light came on and it stayed like that, i could also hear the hard drive spinning inside I closed it and the sleep light is on  it but now it brighter and it's not even going dark and bright like its supposed to do when it's sleeping. Can someone please help?

    Try a SMC reset:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
If no joy try a pramreset: power off the MBP, power back up, before the start chime press and hold optio, command, P, R, and continue tohold them until your the chime 2 times then release. Reboot.
If still not happy try a safe boot, power up  holding the shift key, continue to hold the key until you the progress bar and gear then release. This will show if it could be a third party software problem, this will boot the MBP with only essential applications running. Be patient as this takes longer than normal. Try things out, if normal, shut down and restart and see if things are still messed up.

  • MacBook Pro screen keeps going odd colours

My Mid 2009 MBP's screen keeps going a single colour full screen. It has happened several times. I have attached an image to show what happens.
I have tried to replecate it, but the first time it happened I was tying. The second time (turned grey) I moved the MacBook and the third time (burnt orange) I moved the display. I have since tried shaking the laptop, and moving the screen, but nothing.
    Is this a common thing?

I don't know how much you're willing to spend to get a 'like-new' notebook, but you may want to take the machine into one of your local Apple Stores and ask about Apple's flat rate repair pricing. I don't know that it's available worldwide, but at least it's worth asking about.

  • Macbook Air Screen keeps turning off while in use

    Hi all,
I've had my Macbook Air for about 10 days now - it was working fine for the first 5 days, then I went away for a long weekend break, came home, switched it on and now it is all messed up.
Randomly and frequently while the computer IS IN USE the display will turn off for a seemingly random amount of time then come back on with no input from me.  So just to be clear, this is not the power profile, or the energy saving setting... what happens is that while I am mid-typing or in the middle of a mouse movement (it has happend a couple of times during me typing this first paragraph already) the display on the Macbook will go completely black, as in the blacklight goes off and nothing can be seen on the screen - then, no matter if I carry on typing or if I just take my hand off the keys and give it no input what-so-ever, after some time (as short as 5 seconds or as long as 30 seconds) the screen will pop back on as if nothing had happened.
    Some other things to note:
If I carry on typing when the screen goes dark the chracters i've typed are there when the screen comes back on - so it seems to be only affecting the display.
Whether I wiggle the mouse, bash keys or just sit back in frustration has no bearing on how long it takes for the screen to come back on.
It appears to occour more often when the macbook is on a solid surface like my desk as opposed to on my lap - though it has occured in both locations.
I have power cycled, restarted, rebooted etc a million times.
It happens in both OSX and Windows boots
It is truly random, I can go as long an hour without it happening, then it will happen 20 times in 5 minutes.
The keyboard backlight stays on throughout (if it is on already)
If this was a 5 year old laptop I'd be straight away assuming this was a display cable, inverter cable or lid-close switch problem, but it's only 10 days old!  I'll be very annoyed if this is a hardware issue this soon.  What should be my next course of action?? Phone Apple?  Or take it straight to an Apple store?
My only worry is that its impossible to recreate the fault on demand, its very random - however I did record a video on my iPhone of it doing it constantly for a 3 minute period while I was using the computer (complete with my sighs of frustration as a soundtrack!!).  Will that be enough to convince them if I'm unlucky (or lucky depending on which way you look at it!) and it doesn't display the fault when they inspect it??
I tried to embed the video but the video button above is greyed out, whats up with that?!
    Thanks,
    Seb

    Step 1
Select "System Preferences" from the Apple drop-down menu at the top left corner of the desktop. Alternatively, you can open the System Preferences window by clicking the “System Preferences” icon in the dock.
    Step 2
Click the "Energy Saver" icon in the Hardware section. The Energy Saver window opens.
    Step 3
Click the "Settings For" drop-down box and select "Power Adapter" from the drop-down list. Click the "Optimization" drop-down box and select "Custom" from the list.
    Step 4
Click the "Computer Sleep" slider and drag it all the way to the right. The slider will stop at "Never." Click the "Display Sleep" slider and drag it to "Never" as well.
    Step 5
Click the "Settings For" drop-down box again and select "Battery" from the list. Select "Custom" from the Optimization drop-down box. Move both sliders to "Never."

Looks like an issue with the GPU or with VRAM. You do have a third-party extension loaded, so you might try working in Safe Mode to see if the panics cease. If they do then uninstall the software for VaraAudio to determine if its driver is the cause. Also disconnect any third-party peripherals.

  • TS1367 My MacBook Pro screen won't turn on makes a repeating 3 beep sound

The screen to my MacBook Pro screen wont turn on and when I push the power button it just makes a 3 beep sound repeatedly. Is there any way t. Fix this or should I go to the store?

    Take it in for service.

  • Macbook screen randomly turns blue, then restarts

This has happened twice and it is frustrating. I'll be working away as usual, then my Macbook's screen suddenly turns blue (like the start-up blue before your desktop loads) and then it behaves just as if it restarted. The first time Firefox didn't remember any tabs, but the second time it did.
I have done a little research and saw that people are saying it has something to do with Rosetta apps. Anyone have a solution apart from saving my work frequently?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
That is odd behavior, and I'm not sure what would cause it. You might try a PRAM reset and see if that helps:
