My macbook pro won't log into iMessage or facetime

I've tried several times to fix this issue, by deleting my keychain, unchecking the SOCKS proxy and by restarting the macbook pro, yet it won't log in to Imessage or Facetime. The box that appears says imessage was unable to log in and to check my network connection. My wifi works fine.
Apple Colombia has been less than helpful with this, they don't seem to even have an idea of what they're doing. I'm getting desperate as these are important business tools I need to use for my work. Help is much appreciated!

Ok.  Found something that said to shut down and hold the option, command, p, and r keys on restart.  Held them down for a few restarts and everything automatically signed in and works.  Woohoo!!!

Without knowing what you have tried please open System Preferences - Sharing - File Sharing and select File Sharing. If you still have trouble you can call AppleCare in the morning when they re-open. You have 90 days of telephone support if you haven't already bought AppleCare.

  • My MacBook Pro won't log me in at the log in screen

My MacBook Pro won't log me in at the lag in screen. It won't restart and it's the right password (won't do the vibrating thing that it does when it's the wrong password). Any suggestions?? I really can't do anything on it.... Command-r doesn't work and neither does shift.

You are supposed to press Command-r as soon as you push the power button to turn the computer on.
    I hope I helped.

  • Loaded iOS 8.3 now I can't log into iMessage or Facetime, how do I fix this?

Loaded iOS 8.3 now I can't log into iMessage or Facetime, how do I fix this?

I am having this issue on my IPAD running 8.3.  Can't log in to facetime or iMessage. Cannot turn the apps off and back on (per online suggestion).
I assume Apple has decided that NO ONE should be able to turn these apps off.
Does anyone know whether Apple has acknowledged the issue or is doing anything to resolve it?

  • Cannot log into iMessage or FaceTime it says an error has occured

iimessage was not delivering so tried to log back into iMessage and facetime but it tells me an error has occured during activation and to try again

    Hello meganatherton2000,
Thanks for contributing to the Apple Support Communities.
It appears that you get an error when trying to activate iMessage and FaceTime on your iPad mini.
You mentioned that you signed out of iMessage and FaceTime because messages were not delivering. Be sure to restart your iPad mini before trying to sign back in to iMessages or FaceTime, as mentioned in this article:
If you get an error when trying to activate iMessage or FaceTime - Apple Support
    Restart your device.
If this issue continues and iMessage can't be activated for more than an hour, the article above suggests contacting Apple Support:
Still not activated after an hour?
It might take a few minutes to activate iMessage and FaceTime. If you've waited more than an hour, try these steps:
Make sure that your device has the latest version of iOS.
If you're using an iPhone, contact your carrier to make sure that you can receive SMS messages.
    Contact Apple Support.
    Sincerely,
    Jeremy

  • MacBook pro, won't Log in, debugger called Panic  comes up, and prompts me to restart, when re-started same issue occurs

You need to restart your computer,
My MacBook pro 17inch 8g ram i7 won't log in, it says "unable to find driver for this Platform"  Debugger Called Panic
This keeps coming up after re-starting it.

If remote logins are not enabled, don't know how you can do it now if you can't login.
Do the "other" Macs see the problem Mac in the list of "Devices"?
From a Terminal window on another Mac, try this:
         # assume IP address of problem mac is 192.168.99.10 and the username is xxx
         ssh [email protected]
If you don't know the IP address, there might be a way to figure it out depending on your network setup.
If you get a prompt for the password then give it and it should log you in. If you get a "refused" message of some kind, then you can't login. Also you will get a prompt the first time you "ssh" in about adding the RSA key to your list of "known hosts".
If that doesn't work I'm at a loss. Have you tried booting safe mode? Have you tried Recovery Mode and verify disk? -- never mind just read where you've already done this. Do you have a bad GPU and it's causing the display to do bizarre things?

  • MacBook Pro won't log in suddenly

I have a 2012 MacBook Pro that I mostly use for music programs, such as Logic, Ableton Live, and for work (documents, photoshop, etc.)
Last night it was working fine, and did not install any software as far as I know, and then I woke up and I cannot log in anymore. What happens is when I get to the login screen, the screen flickers and does this weird garbled mess, then I am able to type in my password. It pauses, does a garbled mess again, and then I am again at the login screen. I try again, and same thing. It just won't let me log in for some reason. It's not my password, that for sure is right, for some reason it just won't let me log in.
I did everything that people suggested online - reset the PRAM, tried safe mode, and even booted from disk and re-installed the OS. Still, the same problem. It tries to log in, goes garbled, and then puts me back at the login.
Please help, no time capsule, and I have some pretty important documents I need to retrieve.
    Thanks!

  • Macbook Pro won't boot into safe mode or via bootable USB key

    Hi,
Am running OSX Lion latest version on my Macbook Pro 4,1 and can't get the thing to boot from any source.  Always get's stuck at the grey screen with apple logo.  Have tried all the following...
    - Straight Boot (power on)
    - Boot via Recovery HD (hold option on bootup then select)
    - Boot via Safe Mode (Holding Shift on bootup)
    - Boot via Safe Mode Verbose (Shift, Command, V)
    - Boot via bootable Lion USB Key (Hold option, and choose the USB drive - not the same USB key works on my other macbook pro)
On every one (except verbose) it just get's stuck on the grey screen with spinning timer thingie.
I have done PVRAM reset, SMC reset and have reseated the RAM and all to no avail.  I'm pretty sure the problem was caused by removing battery at wrong time (device not responding after sleep mode started and I plugged in power - should have been more patient!)
I have a Time Machine backup but it's a bit older than I thought and very much want to get my newer photos off it before rebuilding - not that Time Machine would work in current state anyway.
So what are my remaining options?  Will I have to open it up and remove the HD as next step or is there anything else left to try?  Can I remove the HD and connect it via a USB caddy to my existing Mac to recover info (hardrive spins and sounds ok to me)?
    Any advice appreciated...

Yes, once the data is off you can use Disk Utility to Erase the entire drive (Lion + Recovery) with the Zero option (one selection below 7x) then use the Lion USB to install it fresh and stick it back into the machine.
Thanks for the info - I removed the HD and data is all ok on there so very happy about that.  Before I wipe the data (all backed up now) I thought I would try booting the mac without any harddrive installed - using a OSX Lion bootable USB.  However, still can't get past the grey apple screen and circle icon whirling away.   I know the USB works ok, as tried it in my 2011 Macbook Pro and it boots absolutely fine.
I am happy to wipe the HD now and start again, but seeing as the DVD Drive is broken I'll probably need a USB drive boot to install OSX onto the wiped HD anyway.  I'm a bit lost as to what to try now.

When I try logging into facetime and imessage on my ipod touch 4th gen, I get the following error message "the user name or password for "my email address" was incorrect. Try again." However I am able to log into apple id online, app store, game center and itunes with the same credentials without any issues. I have previously used facetime and imessage on this device with the same apple id. Does anyone have any solutions or ideas on how to resolve this? Thanks!

  • Cannot log into iMessage or FaceTime it says an error has occured during activation

i  could not send or receive iMessage would not let me log in to iMessage or FaceTime it says an error has occured during activation.

    Hi Cam-Fox22,
I have had this problem and tried everything suggested without success until last night. I took the plunge and did a Factory reset which cured the problem. Of course you must do a back up to iTunes first. I connected the iPad to my PC via a cable and then loaded iTunes. Log in to the account associated with your iPad and then carry out a backup of your iPad including apps and purchases. Then hit reset option near the top of the page and hit again when asked if sure. It takes a while to download the software but eventually it wiped the iPad and loaded it with fresh software. Keep your iPad connected and then restore from back-up when given that option. When it is all finished you will have your iPad back just as it was before you started but with iMessage and Facetime both working again.
    Good Luck John

  • MacBook Pro won't boot into Snow Leopard

    Hello all,
I've been running Snow Leopard for a few weeks now with no problem, but today my laptop refuses to boot into the Snow Lepoard partition, it is stuck on a grey screen with the logo and a spinning wheel.
I have tried booting into safe mode with no luck. Also I have a Windows boot camp partition which I can boot to and work properly, and finally I have booted from the Snow Leopard disk and run disk utility, the HDD can be verified and the only warnings I get when repairing permissions are about SUID files being modified and will not be repaired. I don't know if that s the root of my problems, any advise will be greatly appreachiated (sp?).
    Thanks

Thanks for the help, but I would like to know what went wrong and how to avoid this in the future.
I've usually found that such problems are accompanied by hard drive damage, but you say it's testing fine, so that's obviously not it. But sometimes vital files get corrupted somehow and you never know why, unfortunately. It could have its roots in some application crashing a year ago.

  • Can't log into iMessage and FaceTime

    Hi there.
I seem to be having a similar problem to a lot of people here where I get an error from both of these applications telling me to check my network and try again.
I have spent countless hours trawling the support forums and even spent an hour on the phone to apple support and nothing is working!!
I have a 2008 macbook alauminium unibody. 2.4ghz intel core 2 duo and 4gb ram, 250gb harddrive. It should be working! My brother has the exact same macbook as me and his facetime and imessage works perfectly well. I also have an iphone and ipod touch and both of these applications work on those on my wifi network. My flatmate has an imac running leopard which I can sign into facetime with but not on my mac.
Apple support put it down to my wifi provider but that can't be the problem if I can facetime and imessage from my iphone and ipod and the imac in the flat can use facetime!!!! Somebody please help!
Apple have been totally useless which i am very dissapointed with and I just can't sus it out!!!
    Thank you!

    HI,
On the cost I would have no idea.
It is supposed to be part of the process in replacing any of the main boards such as Graphics card or main Logic board (Or Motherboard in some older towers).
If you were the one that had the work done then you should have receipts and proof of what the Serial Number is and what work was done.
If the Mac is a refurb then who ever did that refurb should have "replaced" the Serial Number.
Failing you having any of those details you would just have to ask a Store or Apple Authorised Service Provider.
