  • Ok so my iPod is fine except when I am listening to music and is too it and lock the iPod and then turn it back on and listen to music again it won't register the head phones! But they have been plugged in the whole time! Just if anyone can fix it tell me

    More explanation:
I was listening to music today in class and was asked to put it away. So naturally I locked it and left the head phones in. Later on in the day icame back to it to listen to some music and I unlocked it ( it still had the head phones in it ) an was going to listen to some music but it started to play through the external speaker and the headphones were still plugged in so I unplugged and repluggedthem on and it worked! But it just keeps doing this and I keep having to unplugg and replug them in and that is really inconvenient! So I was just wondering if anyone has had the same problem and maybe you could tell me how to fix it? Btw I have a forth gen iPod just invade that helps.
    Thanks, Matt.

    The Basic Troubleshooting Steps are:
Restart... Reset... Restore from Backup...  Restore as New...
    Try this First...
Close All Open Apps...  Sign Out of your Account... Perform a Reset... Try again...
Reset  ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons.

If you try all these steps and you still have issues... Then a Visit to an Apple Store or AASP (Authorized Apple Service Provider) is the Next Step...
Be sure to make an appointment first..

  • 17" Macbook Pro won't start at all.  I shut it down last night at 80% and now there is only black screen, no light, no sound.  What to do?

My 17" Macbook Pro won't start at all.  I shut it down last night at 80% and today I get only a black screen with no sound, no light, nothing.  The power cord light does show orange when plugged in.  I don't know exactly which OS it is. It's model # A1286. I've tried all the tips about holding down different keys to no avail.  Anyother ideas?  (The serial # is w8******agu if that helps.)  Many thanks.

I had the exact same issue...  Macbook Pro late 2008 with Core2Duo.  Went to all the steps suggested in the knowledge base, tried to reset the SMC, but to no avail.   Took it to the Macstore in Mexico, the wanted to replace logic board for $800....  Finally, I sent it to a logic board repair service, where they "fixed"  the logic board for $200.  It worked perfectly for 4 months, then happened again
Any ideas??  I would appreciate any help!!!!!

  • My Macbook Pro won't print with my HP Photosmart 7515. I get the following message, " Print file was not accepted" Printer does work with our PC??

My Macbook Pro won't print with my HP Photosmart 7515. I get the following message, " Print file was not accepted" Printer does work with our PC?? Checked for software updates and are none. Talked with HP help and they say it's an Apple problem

I noticed that you said you uninstalled the printer, but you didn't mention resetting the print system.  Resetting the print system will reset the drivers the Mac has installed and make them work like they should.  Give this a try and see if it gets the printer working like it should.  The document below will expalin more about doing this.
Basic Printer Troubleshooting Steps for Mac
If that doesn't help, see if you are using the AirPrint driver, or the printers driver.  By default 10.8 uses the AirPrint driver if the printer supports it, so I'm betting that's the driver you're using.  If it is, try using the driver for the printer itself.  To do this, access Print and Scan.  Click the + sign to add a new printer.  Select the printer from the list.  Click the dropdown next to Use and select the 7515's driver.  Let me know what happens.

  • My iphone will shut off and then turn itself back on

I plugged my Iphone in( at60%) and then made a facetime call during the call I noticed my phone was still stuck on 60% after the call I unplugged the phone, plugged it back in nothing happend. So then I hard reset it and it said I had 97% then I decied to turn it off and back off and it went down to 92% now it keeps randomly shutting itself off and turning itself back on every 5-10 minutes. I tried restoring it but Itunes says it cant connect to the update server and to try again. What do I do?

You should try backing up the data, restoring the device as new and try if that solves the problem. NB: set up as NEW device, don't restore with backup, because a software issue will also be in the backup. If the issue persists after restoring as new, the device needs service.

  • I have an iphone with icloud, when I deleteed my photostream, after I down loaded them to my computer and then turned photostream back on it re loaded them back to my phone, also it says anything i download with icloud goes to all my devises it doesn't

can any one tell me what i'm doing wrong I've gone to support and it tells me nothing, my icloud does not send what I download to all my devices, I also can't seem to delete the photo's I have on my phone, I do what it says to do then when I turn photo stream back on it re downloads the same pic's to my phone. what am I doing wrong?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Have you got Photostream enabled on the same account on the other devices.
turning Photostream off on a device just stops it syncing with that device it doesn't reset photo stream, you have to do that by resetting from iCloud.com (click on your account name)

  • When I shut my iphone 4 off and then turned it back on it said it need restored. But when I tried to restore it on itunes it said it couldn't go through with the task. What do I do?

    What do I do?

Has the phone ever been jailbroken or hacked in any way? Has the computer you are using ever been used to hack any iPhone, or downgrade one with a utility such as tinyumbrella? If so the hosts file on your computer is corrupted, and you will have to fix that.
This problem has also been reported by people who tried to install a bootleg copy of iOS 5. Could this be your problem?
If none of these apply your security software may be blocking access to Apple's activation servers. Try disabling it or using a different computer. And you can always take it to an Apple store if convenient and they will restore it for you or fix it if it's broken.

  • 2009 Macbook pro won't start after 10.6.3 upgrade

Updated my macbook pro this morning when I received the software update notice, received an error message that the process encountered an error, upon restart the macbook pro hangs on the grey screen with the apple in the middle, then turns off. Won't restart in safe mode, but will restart in single user mode (not that I know what to do there). I also started from the snow leopard disk and went to disk utility, tried to repair permissions, but received an error message there as well. I even tried re-installing snow leopard from the disk but received the message " installation of the contents of this disk can't be changed". Help!!!!

Loaded up the snow leopard disk, used disk utility to erase and reformat the HD, re-installed SL, then installed the combo update, all is fine again. Worst upgrade experience I have ever had to deal with....

  • MacBook Pro won't Sleep or Shut Down

My MacBook Pro won't go to sleep or shut down.
    Sleep
The behaviour is the same whether I press the power button and choose 'Sleep' or whether I choose 'Sleep' from the Apple menu. The computer stays awake, but it loses the ability to respond to Keyboard Shortcuts, such as those used for Expose, and can get stuck in some Apps. If I close the lid the computer stays awake but the screen blacks out. Re-openning the lid does not re-illuminate the screen so I have to force shut down and re-boot.
    *Shut Down*
The behaviour is erratic. Sometimes the computer simply ignores me (although it does close the 'Are you sure you want to Shut Down now?' window), and sometimes it goes to the blue screen with the progress circle and hangs.
    *What I've tried already*
    - Resetting the SMC
    - Checked the Firmware versions are the latest

Sorry for the repost. New to this forum and I hadn't seen the answers to the last time I brought up this topic here:

Reboot into Safe Mode (hold the shift key down at the sound of the chime, release when the progress bar appears) Safe Mode will take longer to boot than normal.

  • 15" i7 Macbook Pro from early 2011.takes the mac laptop two or three tries to boot successfully. It would turn on, show gray screen, shut down, turn on again, show gray screen, shutdown, and then turn on, show gray screen, before it can finally get

    Hello All,
I have a 15" i7 Macbook Pro from early 2011. The past few weeks, it has been getting increasingly difficult to get on my computer. It takes the mac laptop two or three tries to boot successfully. It would turn on, show gray screen, shut down, turn on again, show gray screen, shutdown, and then turn on, show gray screen, before it can finally get to the dark gray log-in screen. Even when I finally get logged in to start working, thinking it would be okay now, it shuts down randomly.
I've ruled out the possibility of a software problem because I've just done a clean re-install of Mac OS X Mavericks on my computer just yesterday.
I did upgrade the RAM recently, about a month and a half ago, from 4GB to 16GB, I went to the apple store four days after that upgrade to have them do a hardware test, and clean the inside of my laptop, which helped with previous heat issues. When they did the hardware test, the hardware was all registered as fine from their system.
I've tried resetting the SMC, PRAM, and doing the internet recovery hardware test, but to no avail. I thought I could at least find out what parts needed to be replaced from the hardware test but it seems that when the hardware test is almost finished, the computer just shuts down, So I am unable to see the results.
My computer is also having battery issues, under battery condition, it says "replace now," parts have been ordered, waiting for arrival. But if the battery health is low, it should still boot up fine, it would just hold a significantly less charge.
Could this be a hard drive issue?
Has anyone had similar symptoms and how was it resolved?
Does anyone know what I can do to alleviate this issue?
I haven't had time to take it to Apple because I'm currently taking a 21 credit semester academically. I'm an art and design student so my computer is basically the bane of my existence. Help! Any constructive advice is welcomed!
Thank you so much for your input!
    -Christina C.

my macbook pro 2006 fan goes high and then makes a fast beep and shuts down it been happening since i updated it should i update to lion?

No, this problem should be solved.
The MBP shuts down when too hot, to protect itself. First see if it is a process running astray: start Activity Monitor (in Applications/Utilities) choose <all processes> and click the %CPU column: are there processes that are using more than 50% cpu power? If yes click it and quit it, and tell us which one.

Wait for advice on repairing a damaged filesystem.  Forceshutdown stops processs in mid-stream and leaves some parts not-valid.
