My Macbook Pro would essentially make 3D models and documentaries. What hardware and software do I need?
This would be the first time I would be using a MacBook.
I am familiar with the basics of a Mac, but am not with accessories and real-time necessities to get my home studio up and running.

I've tried everything and can't seem to get it to work. The apple tv icon show up in itunes and I can stream everything to my tv through the apple tv on itunes, but it won't let me mirror my screen like it does with my iphone 4S. Everything I read says that a macbook dated early 2011 or later should work. My macbook is dated late 2011 and the icon for apple tv doesn't show in my menu bar or under system preferences>display. I recently (Jan 2012) acquired a MacBook Pro (MBP) running 10.7.4 and an AirPort Express. I also have an old PPC G4 tower (Digital Audio model) running 10.4.11. The OS software on both machines is totally up to date. AirPort Utility on the G4 is 5.4.2 and on 6.0 on the MBP. I bought a used AirPort card for the G4, I believe it is 802.11b compatible, and the wireless data rate is specified at 11 Mbps. Being a newbie to wireless, it took me many days to get these two machines to link up. This network is not connected to the internet, and there no other networks in the vicinity.
My last problem to solve is the very slow file transfer speeds between the two machines. The transfer time seems to vary depending on which machine I use to initiate the transfer, and which direction the transfer is going. For example: If I initiate the transfer from the G4 and send a 5.4MB file to the MBP it takes 1:32 (min:sec), while the same file going from the MBP to the G4 takes 27 seconds. On the other hand if the transfer is initiated on the MBP, going from the MBP to the G4 takes 2:56, while going from the G4 to the MBP takes 1:59. I realize that these times are not actual wireless transfer times but includes the entire transfer process.
Both machines and the AirPort Express are within a 4-foot radius. Both machines are set to radio channel 2. The AirPort Express is set for 802.11n(802.11b/g compatible) with WPA/WPA2 Personal wireless security.
Any help would be appreciated.

Yes, I could connect them by ethernet if all I wanted to do was transfer files, but I would like to network them so I could use wireless internet. The machines are not always so close together, I did that to simplify the testing. With the very slow transfer speeds I am reluctant to move ahead with the internet step.

I have a 2010 macbook pro running osx 10.6.8 and would like to interface my mac to my HD tv. Are any instructions available to reliably make this connection and if so what is needed on my part. Is the software compatible or do I have to upgrade to a later version OS. Thank You,
GeneI purchased a mini to HDMI cable and tried to connect to the TV but the TV is not recognizing the computer. I attempted to set sound and display settings under the "my Preferences" utility with no success. Again, I'm not sure if I need to upgrade my OS software Any Suggestions?

The technology that does this is called "Xgrid." It requires first a fast network; wireless wouldn't be ideal. Xgrid must be enabled on all computers, with one set up as a controller. The controller can then send a portion of certain processing tasks to the other machines, when supporting applications are being used.
Xgrid can be used, for example, for transcoding video. It can be used for complex modeling in some scientific applications. It cannot be used to increase performance in a video game.

As of today feb 15 i have been waiting for 78 days. Finland doesn't have an official apple store (only authorized resellers) It was my mistake because i should have bought from apple.com. But i think 2.5 months is too long and i have no information about when i can get it..The low-end 15” rMBP with a 8 GB or RAM and a 256 GB SSD costs $2,000.
The low-end 15” rMBP with a 8 GB or RAM and a 512 GB SSD costs $2,300.
With 16 GB of RAM and a 512 GB SSD it costs $2,500.
The high-end 15” rMBP with a 16 GB of RAM and a 512 GB SSD costs $2,600.
All cost $500 dollars more with a 1 TB SSD.
So the SSD size is not a differentiating factor unless you prefer 256 GB.
If you think you need 16 GB of RAM and a 512 GB SSD then you might as well spend the extra $100 for the high-end model.
The high-end model will make a difference on gaming and graphics-oriented applications.
They tend to run other applications at about the same speed.
Both models are rated with 8 hours of battery life.

On the Unigine Heaven Benchmark benchmark they ran at about the same speed.

is it safe to use a 60 watts mag safe adapter for my macbook pro 15 inch mid 2009 model. i went to istore to have a battery replacement and they advice me to change my 60 watts mag safe to 85 watts because it is not compatible.....
use the 85w charger.

In my macbook pro 15 inch mid 2012 model, my cpu and gpu will get very hot, when gaming or rendering sometimes over 200F. The fans only spin at max about 2900 rpm, when their max is 6400. I downloaded a fan control app, but how can i fix it?

After sleeping MacBook Pro 15.4" mid 2012 model (running Mac OS X 10.10.2 Yosemite) for overnight and pass 24 hours time, upon wake from sleep-- the dock background is white for a few seconds and then it turns back to the normal color.
Is this normal? Should I be worried? Is my GPU defective?
My specs:
MacBook Pro 15.4" Mid 2012 model, Ivy Bridge Quad core i7 2.3Ghz CPU w/ hyperthreading,

What cable should be used to connect a macbook pro, 13 inch, early 2011 model to an external projector so the project displays the image on the computer screen?
You will need a cable or adapter with a minidisplay connection for the MBP. That will be inserted in the Thunderbolt port. The other end is dependent upon the connections of the projector which you have not listed.

HT1338 the Macbook Pro would not even detect the external monitor.
My Macbook pro will not connect to an external monitor after moving it. It has been running on this same monitor for 8 months. I switched to a new Desk last night, after hooking it up, the Macbook Pro would not even detect the external monitor. It was only showing the Macs monitor in Display. It did not even have where you could "Detect Display" available. Is there an update that I may have missed. I have tested all the Monitor connections with another laptop they all work.

If nothing displays but you hear normal startup sounds, then it's possible this is a video issue, and you should take it to an Apple store or AASP. -

Maybe once every hour or 2 hours.Rather than uploading the file, and await our responses, why not take the product back to Apple? My guess is that you accidentally changed an alert sound but, since you claim you didn't do anything untoward, who knows.

Now that you mentioned it, that might be the source of the problem. Something was definitely wrong with my graphics card before the incident happened. You mean that particular batch of graphics cards had some inherent issues, right? I went to the genius bar, and the 'genius' there, without trying to diagnose the problem properly, just adviced me to buy a new mbp! He said Apple will no longer try to fix or touch macs older than 5 yrs. Mine is 5.5 yrs old...

Is there any signs of damage on the outside? Under warranty? If no signs and still under warranty, take it to the applestore and play dumb. If there are obvious signs of a fall, then your warranty will be voided and you have the option of paying for the repair or living with the sound and waiting for a failure of some sort.
