My Macbook seems to be having serious issues...

So i have had my Macbook Pro (mid 2012)  roughly 18 months now, with absolutely no issues. For the last 8-9 months i have been using an unofficial charger for it, not cheap and tacky....but not as expensive as the apple ones.
I went to bed last night after putting my Mac on charge and woke up to a green charge light....as usual. I took the charger out, turned it on and got as far as the login screen before my Mac completely died on me. Wouldnt turn back on and even when i plugged the charger in i got no lights whatsoever. So i borrowed my sisters official apple charger thinking that was the issue and with hers i got a dim, flashing orange light. I did a SMC reset and even went as far as removing the battery and re-inserting it technique (since my warrenty is long void) and that didnt seem to work either the first few times. Then i finally got a block green light on the charger and the Mac turned on and i thought i was back in business. After logging in i noticed that my Mac was claiming there was no battery detectable. After restarting my computer, doing another SMC check and even opening my Mac up again to check id reconnected it properly i've still had no luck. When i remove the charger my Mac shuts itself off instantly. Im thinking the unofficial charger might have been harming my battery and i may need a new one but i'd love to try some of you guys ideas before i conced to that fate.
Even worse now, i have just restarted my Mac and now i cant even get past the Apple logo page, it just stays stuck there. Im tearing my hair out. I have an appointment booked in a few days for the genius bar, but my local one is about two hours away and id love to save myself the trip (and fortune it would cost me) if one of you guys could make yourselves a hero and get me up and running again.
Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I am having serious issues trying to alter my old iCloud account with an old non-functioning email to my new apple id with a new email address. The message keeps coming up on all my apple products with my old email (which is not available anymore).

I have the same problem - it is maddening. I rely on this iPad for work so this is not just an annoyance! The above solutions of changing the appleid on the device or on the website do not work.
The old email address no longer exists - I haven't used it in a year probably and I no longer have the account.  I logged into the appleid website and there is no trace of the old email address so there is nothing that can be deleted or changed there.  On the iPad there is no trace of the old email address so nothing can be deleted there either. I have updated the iPad software and the same problem comes right back.  Every 2 seconds I am asked to log in using the old non-existent email.  The device is currently useless.
The only recent change to anything was the addition of an Apple TV device, which was set up using the correct login and password.
Does anyone have any ideas? The iPad has been backed up to the iCloud so presumably it now won't recognize the current iCloud account? So restoring may notbe an option?

Captivate 5.5 Question: We seem to be having an issue with the screen capture piece not recording "everything".
We're running 5.5 as an administrator on Windows 7 and my co-worker is trying to capture a webinar (GoToMeeting) with Captivate and it is not recording anything in the GTM window, except the last slide. Anyone have this problem or know a fix? Not much is mentioned in the Adobe forums.

Captivate simply doesn't 'hear' some screen events on certain applications and you just need to resort to doing manual captures at these points.
I usually set up my manual capture button to be F2 so that I can hit it with my left hand while my right hand is on the mouse navigating through the task.

  • Help! Having Serious Issues and need to save my data!!!

This is probably going to be a long post, and I apologie in advance, but before I give up completely, I need to see if there's anything that I can do to save the data on my computer. Also, I'm writing this from work and don't have access to the system right now, so I'm going to have to rely on my questionable memory to relay the situation.
Since the battery update was installed, I was having intermittent issues with my MBP battery - when I was fully charged, it only showed about 1:45 of time left (down from a usual 3:00 or so). When it would get down to about 50 minutes left, the system would shut off with no warning. I was about to take the system into the Apple Store to get the battery replaced last week, but just to make sure, I followed the instructions to reset the battery and after that was done, it seemed like the battery was fine (showed up as about 3:00 fully charged). But... the system started working very slowly.
As a result, I decided to try to back up the system (I use SuperDuper and backup to an external USB drive). The backup failed mid-stream and my backup file was now useless (that's the last time I use the erase before backing up option). So now I don't have a backup of my data (all of my data is on that laptop).
I tried running Disk Utility, by booting from the installation DVD, to Repair the disk and it stopped with an invalid node error. I tried again, but no joy. A third time, it appears to have completed. However, now when I boot the system, not only is it really slow, but it boots into some unfamiliar linux prompt ("I don't have a name#:", or something like that.
Since I still think that there was a file system problem, I bought a copy of DiskWarrior 4. However, I don't want to wait for the bootable CD, so I tried to install the OS on the external USB drive so I could run it from there. Everytime I tried to install to the USB drive, I got a kernel panic when the IT Tunes install script was loaded. Every time. I tried removing the second (add-on) RAM stick, removing the battery, etc. No joy. Finally on about the 10th attempt, this time on battery power only (no power cable connected), I managed to get the OS to install on the USB drive.
Okay, so now I can boot to the USB drive. I installed Disk Warrior 4 and ran it on the internal hard drive. Kernel Panic. Every time I've run it (error is about unlocking mutex). Even more frustrated now, I tried to backup the disk again (since all my data is on there, I can't afford to lose any of it). No joy. The backup (using SuperDuper or CloneCopyX) fails at various spots. I have some folders on the drive that I tried to copy off (about 7GB) that contain disk images and the like. That copy failed.
So now, I have un-backupable (is that a word) hard drive that I can't repair without kernel panics (although, now as I write this, I didn't try DW without the power cord). And what I need to know is if anyone can think of anything that I haven't tried to save my user data off of the system before I have to take it in to the Apple Store and potentially lose everything that's on it.
My number 1 concern right now is losing the data on the drive.
Can anyone help me at all?
Again, sorry for the long post...
    Thanks!
    Jim

You may not have the luxury of having another Mac but you must know someone who does. You need to boot your Mac into target disk mode. This is going to be your best bet as far as saving your files. Keep in mind that everytime you mess with this computer you are further endangering your data. Also, once your Mac is booted as a target disk, it may be possible to mount it on a windoze computer just to copy your files to another drive. I used to have one here and if i still did I would try this for you but I "offed" it in favor on running windoze (Parallels) on my MBP. But, one way or another, you need to get next to another computer.

  • Having serious issues with Photoshop CS4. It quits frequently while I'm working?

Photoshop CS4 keeps quitting or crashes as often as every 10 or 15 minutes. This has happened before but rarely, mostly when I'm working on a large file but it's been happening more often than ever lately. Please help.

  • I seem to be having keyboard issues

i just start typing and after a while look up at my screen and only half the sentence is there...for some reason its not registering the entire sentence

I'm having the same problem on a 15-inch Retina MacBook Pro. It seems to be happening since I installed the recent EFI firmware update. I also have another issue where my screen just goes black and the machine becomes unresponsive. The only way to bring it back to life is to hold down the power button until it shuts down, then turn it back on again.
Can I just ask why repairing disk permissions might solve the keyboard issue? How is that related?

  • My macbook pro 13inch is having an issue.

    Hi there.
My name is Brain and i'm having problems with my macbook pro 13inch.
I got my macbook pro in Hong Kong in August in the summer vacation. it worked pefectlty till novemeber. i hadn't downloaded anything on it or done any of my work but i turned it off properly by shutting it down with the off button then pressed shut down as it usually pops up. the next morning when i turn it back on and it's stuck on a blue screen (the one before it shows the log in information). i had turned it off again by holding the off button as there was no other way of turning it off. i left it for five minutes and it still was the same. i then left it over night with the blue screen on and the next morning it was the same even though there was no charge. i then turned it off and left it for three months then tried it again and still the same.
i then talked to an apple support person, he helped me step by step and the computer was able to change from the blue screen to a step before it where the apple sign is and a spinning dile was moving. he suggested that i should get my 13inch cd that came with my laptop and insert it and press C. the only problem is now is that i  have misplaced my cd and i cannot find it.
Is it possible if i can get a cd from an apple store or order it online and if possible if i get the new software Mac OS X v10.7 Lion. obviously i would buy it i would just want to know if i had to get snow leapord first and then install lion.
sorry for writing so much but i hope this is helpfull in understanding my perdicument.
    thank you
    Brian

Couple of things.  There hasn't been OSX software on a CD in 5 years or so.  Second, you can ask Apple to ship you new disks for your Mac.  Once you have your issues fixed (and I'm almost certain that they will, you have a corrupted startup item), you can then go to the Mac App Store and upgrade to Lion.

  • Is anyone else having serious issues with Dynamically linked clip render times in CC 2014.2

Short clips stalling and taking forever to render. Longer ones taking several hours???
I've noticed arbitrary little fixes, such as re-opening the after effects window, then going back into the premiere window causes the render to instantly speed back up in some cases.
A restart of the program I believe solves the issue too. As does simply rendering the clip out in after effects.
The problem is that I have long, overnight renders set up that need to run automatically. In this case, 9 clips, all about 30 minutes long. And pretty much all one long dynamically linked comp (I created a picture in picture effect in after effects compiling 2 30-minute video feeds, and then added some color correction). When I left at night, the total time kept creeping up and up to about 2.5 hours for one video. Even THAT sounds like a lot to me, but I let it go. I return to the computer 13 hours later, to see only 3 videos completed, and the one CURRENTLY in the queue saying over 6 hours remaining. I cancel the render.
I feel like there is some breakdown of communication between afx and premeiere happening here.
Anyone have any experience with issues like this?
Running PP CC2014.2 on a tricked out 2011 Macbook pro 17" OSX Yosemite

I'm on windows 7, and similar dynamic issues were a result of having two versions of the same app on the machine, and not associating the files to use the latest version, etc, or a version mismatch.
Another workaround is to close PPro and import the project into AME, rendering it from there.

  • Just this past week, I noticed that Firefox is not keeping my passwords. This is MADDENING. I'm on a Mac, but it seems many are having this issue. I don't see a solution given for this. WHEN IS THIS GOING TO BE FIXED??? I like FF the way is USED to be!

It seems Firefox has stopped retaining passwords. This happens with all of my accounts. I must fill in the password manually.
This password issue is not computer specific either. It happens on my G5 as well.
    What's going on???

    Thanks for that information!
I'm sure I will be calling AppleCare, but the problem is, they charge for the phone calls don't they? Because I don't have money to be spending to be on the phone with a support service.
In other things, it seemed like the only time my MacBook was working was when I had Snow Leopard without the 10.6.8 update download that was supposed to be done to prepare for OS X Lion.
When I look at the information of my HD it says that I have 10.6.8 but that was the install that it claimed to have failed and caused me to restart resulting in all of the repeated problems.
Also, because my computer is currently down, and I've lost all files how would that effect the use of my iPhone? Because if it doesn't get fixed by the time OS 5 is released, how would I be able to upgrade?!

  • Deployed and tried to update to 3.0 - now having SERIOUS issues. HELP!!!

Ok, there's a little bit of a back-story. I'm currently deployed but had 3 days in port and tried to update all of my iPhone/Macbook software in between bar visits. Well, my AT&T SIM card was left on the boat so I didn't have it when I tried to update to 3.0. Upon returning and re-inserting my SIM card my iPhone 3G now stays on the 'slide for emergency' screen with no change nor hope of change. We are no longer in port which means I no longer have access to internet on my personal computer, only work computers with no downloading capabilities due to security issues and painfully slow internet. When I plug in my iPhone, iTunes launches immediately (like always) but then goes to the error pop-up telling me that I need to re-check my network settings and try again. I can click on my iPhone in the side menu in iTunes but NOTHING shows up in the window. Like I said, I cannot access the internet on my personal computer.
I decided to attempt to re-install/revert to my old iTunes and just go back to the way things were and try to update again in the next port - remembering to bring my SIM card with me next time. Well, going into Time Machine and attempting to restore iTunes from my last backup a week ago I get an error pop-up that says 'The operation cannot be completed because you do not have sufficient priveleges for "iTunes"'. I have many various Time Machine backups from the time when my iPhone and Macbook were both working well together but have never had to use Time Machine and am thoroughly unfamiliar with it.
While the iPhone is, obviously, crippled due to lack of network capabilities while deployed, I still use it for my daily calendar, alarm clock, music and movie source at the gym, note-taker and various other network-not-required tools and desperately need it back. Please, anyone, PLEASE help me.

i suspect you will need a network connection to activate the iphone...
...as for the time machine help might want to check in another discussion forum they might be able to help with time machine better in macbook group or macos group or even the !
thanks for your service... hang in there... don't forget your sim next stop!

  • Help! I'm having serious issues with my OS 6 Update for my Curve 9330

First off Facebook is now the default calendar. Really! I sync with Outlook for a reason. It says to go into options and select another option for your calendar but there is no other option listed, just Facebook!
Secondly, my e-mail settings have been deleted. When I go into set up to reconfigure them it won't allow me to login with my user name, just says the user name must be more then 4 characters long. My user name is 23 characters long since it's an e-mail address! It is so long that it wraps down onto a second line in the box provided! Something is seriously messed up here!
So now that I've installed OS 6 I have no connectivity to my e-mail or calendar which is half the reason I have a Blackberry! I'm ready to throw it out the window! Any help would be so appreciated!

I'm sad to report that I have the same issues between three to four times a day.  Before I got my iPhone 4S (first iPhone I've owned, btw) I used to have a Sony Ericsson C902 that I operated along with a bluetooth headset HBH-DS205 that used to work perfectly together.  Now, with the headset and the iPhone 4S I keep noticing that the connection breaks and all I can do to restore it is to turn the headset off and on every time.  I listen to music all day long on the headset and this issue can get to irritating levels.  Also sometimes I feel stupid as at work I'm one of the few 4S owners and, the iPhone being a state of the art device, my coworkers get to see me scrambling to figure out whether I need to bring the phone up to my ear or just one of the earpieces to my ear.  The headset also has a answer/hang-up button that as of late, for the same reason, I cannot know for sure will start or end a call.  I would hate to be forced to drop the headset as I really love it too.

  • I am having serious issues with my iPhone 4s, phone constantly locks up

It locks into speaker phone mode all of the time and people can't here me on the other line.  The only way to fix is to restart the phone.  Happens with Blue tooth and headphones.  No idea what is going on.  Also having issues with browsing the web.  Locks on Espn.com all of the time.  Any thoughts?

weird, i would try to restore through iTunes and set up as new as a test.

  • MacBook "repaired" but still having overheating issues?  Help needed

I just got my 13" MacBook Pro back from being repaired (apple replaced the display and the logic board), and now it is running at 83 degrees C (according to iStat Pro) and the fans are only at 2000rpm. Is that normal? My computer never used to be this hot. I can't even hear the fans running.
    Thanks
PS Can I still call apple free of charge for technical support questions after the 90 day period if I don't have Apple Care (I am within the one year warranty)?

I am only web browsing, and I am holding it on my lap, though my knees are supporting the edges and there is nothign but air underneath of the machine, so the fan air exit is not being blocked.

  • Is anyone else having serious issues with iOS 5 on the 3Gs. My phone keep freezing up and it froze today for like 3 hours finally did a restore now it wont restore through my computer.

    This is driving me crazy!!!!!!!!!!

I had major issues with the iPhone 4s battery, however it’s resolved.
The tech who set the phone up at the Apple store did so with little training.
if you have a mobile me account. First go and move all your data to the cloud by going on your computer and logging in at me.com/move. The cloud has replaced mobile me, so there is no need for those two accounts
Also make sure that for any of your email accounts you set them up to fetch, not push. My tech person set them all to have the email servers push data to the phone. The new iphone4s antenna is extremely strong so it will continually try to access stuff that is pushed–***** a lot of battery life doing this. It makes it worse if you have exchange 2010 accounts. Something about changes made to exchange really suck battery life from devices that access such accounts.
turning of locator and the push notifications from facebook--they have a lot!

  • Seem to be having an issue with similar emails not being picked-up by mail

    Hi,
I'm running OS4 on a 3GS phone. Over the last couple of days I've noticed that when I get multiple emails in short time frames with either the same subject or from the same account (alert messages), they don't get synced to my iphone. We are using exchange with Active Sync and up until the OS upgrade, this was not an issue. I'm thinking it's related to the new threading capability (it's not showing one message with multiple threads if anyone's thinking that).
Is Anyone else seeing this? I downloaded the patch and applied it, but didn't fix this issue. I also had a problem yesterday where the phone wouldn't leave the recent callers screen (had to reboot the phone). Anyone seen this issue either?
    Thanks,
    C

When you look at your yahoo account, is the ebay mail being held in a bulk folder? There's a Yahoo mail option to release bulk mail which Yahoo mail thinks is spam.
In preferences, do you have your mail id's set up as [email protected] (the complete email address) versus just name? Using just name will cause it to ask for the password each time.
I haven't seen the mail application available as a stand-alone download.
