My Macbook turned off on it's own, charger light is very dim

Hey everyone:
After plugging in my Galaxy S3 to my MacBook,  it shut itself off at 90%, and now won't turn on. When any charger is plugged in, the charge light is an extremely dim green. What should I do? Thank you in advance.

Hello brainy cat
Take a look at the troubleshooting in the article below for issues with your Mac not powering on. See if you can get access with a different charger to test and also try to reset the SMC.

  • My MacBook Pro is not switching on and my charging light is very dim green

Hey ! My MacBook Pro is not switching on. I was trying to charge my iPhone through the lead attached to the MacBook. I suppose the iPhone charging lead might not be a original. Hence it kept saying that this accessory will not work. So I took it out. As soon as I did that my mac switched off and it would not switch on again. The charger light went really dim green. It usable is more brighter. I've waited for a while. It's not switching on. I was trying to do smc reset but I suppose if I'm doing it right it's not working. I was reading online and I didn't find much help. I live in Pakistan so I can't go to apple store. Please tell me a solution !!?

  • MacBook turned off and won't charge now

MacBook turned off and it won't charge now.
I tried two different charges I finally see a faint orange charge sign.
Is my battery dead? I have only had this MacBook for 3.5 years

Go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info (and then System Report if you are running 10.7 Lion, 10.8 Mountain Lion or 10.9 Mavericks), then select Power from the left hand column of the System Profiler. Copy and paste the Battery Information from the top of the page back here.

  • Iphone 4 turns off on it's own with 5.0 and 5.01

So I had a problem with my iphone 4 about a week ago and took it to the apple store. When I took the phone there, the phone wouldn't do anything but make phone calls, so they did a restore and the phone went back to normal, or so I thought. They also noticed I hadn't updated the phone to 5.0 so they said they would do that for me while I was there. Well since they did that, the phone randomly turns off on it's own. It also has the battery problems others are talking about. I can have it fully charged before I go to bed, and when I get up, the phone is dead. Thats without doing anything with the phone! But the whole phone turning itself off is what is really getting to me. I have no idea how many phone calls or texts I have missed because I haven't noticed the phone is no longer on. Whenever this happens just pushing the power button does nothing. I have to hold the power and home buttons together for quite awhile until the phone turns on. Its also not like the phone stays on on for a certain amount of time beore this happens. Sometimes it will stay on for hours without me touching it, sometimes just a few minutes. It's completely unpredictable. I downloaded the new 5.01 and nothing changed at all. I know the battery problem is common, but has anyone else had the problem of the phone shutting off completely?

  • Battery shows 34% and the Macbook turn off

I am having a problem with my battery it shows that the battery has between 30% and 35% of charge but my macbook turns off and I can't turn it on until I plug the power. If I press to see if there is battery it flashes 3 lights.
I tried to upgrade the battery software but I already have the last version.
Is there a recall for batteries of macbook aluminium?

Your full charge capacity is far too low for just 98 cycles. Apple suggests that you should still have 80% capacity (perhaps 3600 mAH) at 300 cycles. "Verify the battery" is also a bad sign.
    Try resetting the SMC:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1411
And if that doesn't change your information, call AppleCare and demand a new battery, as yours has experienced a failure beyond the normal expectations.
Be certain that after you get your new battery, you calibrate it regularly (every 4-8 weeks):

    Hello Alex,
I would be concerned too if my MacBook Pro was booting just to the gray screen with the Apple logo on it.  I recommend following the steps in the article below for the issue you are experiencing:

  • Imac keeps restarting and turning off on it's own.

Just recently my iMac 21.5" 2010 (10.7.4) has been restating and turning off unexpectedly on it own. I've had this Mac for over a year and have never had this problem before and haven't even changed any settings or done anything to it.
The biggest thing I've done to it was update it's software.

Hello, have you blown the dust ou tlatey?
If it's cooled foran hour or so dies it Boot?
Do you have the extended 3 year AppleCare?
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair Disk, (not Repair Permissions). Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.
    If 10.7.0 or later...
Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partitiion & use Disk Utility from there.

  • When Unplugged my MacBook turns off

Like the subject says my MacBook turns off immediately after I unplug it. Also it continuously states that its calculating the battery. It shows the little plug inside the little battery outline and the plug's light is green. What should I do?

Try to reset the SMC (System Management Controller).
Have you done the battery update? About Battery Update 1.2. Depending on your model you may not need it. read the instructions.
If none of this helps I suggest you contact Apple support for more help. You may have a bad battery.

  • My macbook turns off randomly but not completely because when I tap the touchpad it goes to the password screen and I am back to it in seconds. It's really annoying. HELP!!!

My macbook turns off randomly but not completely because when I tap the touchpad it goes to the password screen and I am back to it in seconds. It's really annoying. HELP!!!

    1. Non volatile random access memory (NVRAM) is where the computer stores user's settings, like time and date, speaker volume, energy saver settings etc.
    2. Reseting NVRAM has no impact on anything on your hard drive, or anything else on the computer.

  • My MacBook turns off immediately when it is not plugged

Hi all, I've had this macbook for about 2 years now.
It had no problems at all. (I didn't use my macbook for like months)
Then I needed it for my school, so I installed windows 7 using bootcamp a few days ago.
and I've noticed that my macbook turns off immediately when it's unplugged.
i thought it is because of windows at first time,
but I booted on with Mac OS and it has same problem.
It just turns off immediately. and it won't back on until I plug it to charger.
Is it battery problem? or could it be anything else?

Sounds like the battery to me. Usually they don't like being left for months especially if fully charged.
    Check the battery health
Click on the Apple icon at the top left corner of the screen
    Click on "About this Mac"
    Click on "More Info"
Under Hardware, click on "Power". This will show you information about your battery, including how many cycles the battery has been through, it's charging ability and so on.
    Thanks
    Glenn

How do I turn off my built in camera (green light)? It's always on.

That's my next move. Just read about other people having the same issue & turning it off (not re-starting) & waiting a few minutes before turning it back on has worked for some & not for others...
    Wish me luck.

  • How to turn off sound Ipaq mini when charging

I still kepp My Ipaq mini on , then I turn off screen only. Plugin charge . But later , It make noisy short sound , and repeat all time un till i disconect charge  . Even I Power off , I paq automatic on again and sounding while charging . I don;t want to minimum sound from setting. But I want to disable that sound . Someone help?

I have to agree this is the most annoying thing about the iPhone.  The chirp when it charges.  I had a situation the other night where my phone was on analog roam (uses a lot of power) and ever couple of minutes it would chirp (assume it was because it found a network, charged, and then went analog and discharged and the cycle repeated!!).
The phone was next to my bed since I use it as an alarm clock.  Basically using the mute switch toatally makes the iPhone usesless as an alarm clock which is why it was next to my bed!  Apple seriously needs to fix this issue.
Dear Apple, please make the battery notification sound user selectable.  Thanks.
