My macbook won't let me copy and paste things like weblinks or even sentences on MS word. Any idea why?

My Macbook pro just won't let me copy and paste or cut and paste anything. I have tried weblinks, MS word/powerpoint. It doesn't let me do it on any program at all.
I have tried the cmd + c, cmd + v keys as well as copying and pasting from the edit option in bar at the top of the screen.
Can some one help me please.

Don't copy and paste. Use eithe disk utility to copy and in future use something like SuperDouper to incremental copy the library.

Please enable guest logins and log in as Guest. Launch Safari and test. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and disable it if you wish.

Copy and paste are still not working even after many workarounds

This usually happens to me randomly. I would say that there is about a 25% chance that my paste works. The copy function seems to work, but when it comes to pasting, my browser does not offer the pasting button and it stays invisible. I have disabled my firewall, disabled my antivirus, resat firefox, started in safemode, disabled all plugins, and even uninstalled and reinstalled java. I have tried everything. This is definitely a browser problem because I am able to copy and paste in any other application with out any problem. I don't like any other browser so I refuse to do so. Please help me firefox team.

I have lots of tabs of eBay search pages which I update every day and from last night (26th Sep) and even now 27th they still have the same problem that the search does not continue but goes to a eBay home page !

When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
(1) Bypass Firefox's Cache
Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.
Alternately, you also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"
If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.
(2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site, either:
* right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
* Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
In the dialog that opens, you can remove your eBay cookies individually.
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

I just restored my 24 inch imac and it seems to be running MUCH slower than before. Any Ideas why? thanks in advance for your help!

I have erased and restored my 24 inch Intel iMac. I have upgraded to the last version of X os. My system is running WAY slower than it was before. Even opening windows seems to lag and the spinning wheel come up for everything. Every task is slow, even typing this! lol

Thanks for the update. It is good to know that the maintenance procedures helped. Regular maintenance and a good backup are key to computer security. Gulliver's article has a suggested schedule. Dr. Smoke's FAQ on Backup and Recovery has excellent information and advice. I part company with him on his insistence on Retrospect, which I have found to be difficult to use. SuperDuper has been shown the best backup software in these tests.
If you usually leave your computer on or asleep, it is good practice to shut down and start up in Safe Mode occausionally. I do it about once weekly.

Why won't Mac Mail let you copy and paste a email address?

I have mail 5.2 and was just wondering why doesn't it let you paste using the track pad to paste e-mail address into the field for To and Cc for, when i click on the track pad like you would normally do it doesn't come up with anything? It lets you paste only into the subject line and nothing else, using cmd v however works. Is this like it for everyone's mail? Or does mine have a problem? Thank you.

Well, don't know much about Mail in 10.7, but here's my 10.4/10.5 notes...
Not certain, but this can fix myriad Mail problems...
Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), it will try to repair your Disk Directory while the spinning radian is happening, so let it go, run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, then move this folder & file to the Desktop.
Move this Folder to the Desktop...
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Caches/Mail/
Move this file to the Desktop...
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/Envelope Index
Reboot.
Note, in 10.5 & up /Users/YourUserName/Library/Caches/Mail/ may or may not exist.

It will not let me copy and paste

I am trying to copy an letter from my affiliate page and put copy into my auto-responder but it says firefox will not allow this. If I can not get it fixed to day I will have to revert back to Internet explorer.

But with my function the program doesn't know if the pressed key is printable or if it's shift, ctrl
or something like thatProbably the easiest way is to check and see if e.getKeyChar() < a space character or if e.getKeyCode() >= 127. You can use e.getModifiers() to get the modifier, etc... -- take a look at the documentation for java.awt.event.KeyEvent class.

I can only guess since you provide no details, but my guess is that these are either not industry-standard MPEG-4 videos but rather one of the offshoots that use the same file extension, or they're a resolution, frame rate or aspect ratio that iTunes can't accept. Can the videos and tracks be played in QuickTime Player? If so, open the Movie Inspector, find the Format information, and post that here along with your versions of Windows and iTunes. That might help people figure out what might be going wrong.

Ok. I disabled hardware acceleration. The only extension is the McAfee Scriptscan for Firefox 15.1.0, which was already disabled. I then disabled all plugins (Acrobat, Google Update, Intel Identity Protection (2x), Java Deployment Toolkit, Java Platform, MS Office 2013, Quicktime, Shockwave, Silverlight), which were all up to date.
Normal or safe mode still has same result. No startup, no option button and no customize.

Anchor tag error, also copy and pasting text comes up "null"

After the recent update I am receiving anchor tag errors telling me to start with an alphabetic letter, which I was. Also no longer lets me copy and paste text onto a page, instead it says "null". Any ideas on a fix ?

I don't see a closing </body> tag in your code. There's an opening tag, but no closing tag, hence unbalanced.
