My Macintosh Classic II Performa 200 has a black screen !!!

my Macintosh Classic II Performa 200 has a black screen, it is making noises when it turns on but exept that it doesnt come on, HELP !!!

Could be a number of reasons for this, such as faulty components (capacitors, semiconductors et cetera).
Some Macintosh computers can even show no-video symptoms if the internal (logic board) battery is weak/bad.
Before you continue, it might be a good idea to  test a PRAM reset (link below), and to try starting from a disk tools floppy.

Finally, a warning. Please note that opening a compact Mac can be very dangerous because of the high voltages involved, and must only be carried out by someone with the necessary expertise.

I've run diagnostics. Can't find device. I've tried resetting. The toggle has been turned on and off.

Cable works fine on my other iPod. Reset by pressing menu and center button together for 6-10 seconds. Left it to charge for many hours. Started acting up while running. Suddenly the music stopped playing but my Nike + was still working for the rest of my run. Took it straight it home and plugged it in to the wall to recharge since the battery was fairly low. Looked like it recharged ok but then screen went blank and now does it not show up on iTunes, does not seem to recharge by the wall charger (apple wall charger plugged into a surge protector in India). I have turned the hold switch off and on many times.
Sounds like a repair issue, which is not easy to do in India :(

  • How do you fix an ipod that has a black screen and it turns on but when it turns on the screen gets a lighter black but you still can't see the apps or anything?

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • My iPhone has a black screen!

Hello apple community. My dad just sent me a used iPhone 4s for my birthday about 1 week ago. Today I was using my iPhone and I went to eat and left my phone on my bed. Then when I came back , I tried turn it on and it didnt turn on. It has a black screen but it functions properly. It might be a display screen error or something. I tried the famous method of pressing the home button and the power button at the same time for like 10 seconds but it still wont work. I also plugged it in on my computer and it shows everything on there but my iPhone screen is still black. I hadthe same problem earlier when I got the phone but it turned on after a little while of charging it. What is going on? I live in a small town in Mexico and there are no Apple stores nearby! What should I do? Please I really need your help on this issue. Thank you very much for your attention and hopefully you guys can help me.

    Hello there, Kevin Barreto.
To make sure if it is a hardware issue or not, the following Knowledge Base article should help guide you further:
    iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts2802
    Specifically the section on:
Display has no backlight or dark screen
Toggle the ringer switch to see if the unit vibrates. If it does, it could be that iPhone is getting power, but is not displaying any image.
Try turning iPhone off and then on again.
While connected to the iPhone charger, try to reset the iPhone.
If the low-battery screen appears, charge the iPhone.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Pedro D.

I have tried everything that i can to get my ipod to turn on.  It has a black screen and hasnt done anything atleast 2 weeks.  Please help.

    1. Can you get it to light up doing a hard reset and holding the buttons down for at least a minute?
    2. Is it charged up?
    3. Is the USB power cable good?
    4. Can you get iTunes to recognize using recovery or DFU mode?

Will not show up in safe mode, will not show when started from Windows 7 DVD.
I suspect the Mac update wiped out my PC video drivers but can not think of a way to re-install?
Can see the PC volume from Mac side with files.
I've looked at all the online solutions so far and have tried most of them without success. Please help!

    EDIT: RESOLVED
For anyone else who finds their way here like I did, this link did it for me: https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/527599/windows-8-issues-solved-please-r ead-if-you-39-re-having-black-screen-and-or-flickering-/
Specifically, the posts by Dunsany and valkyr did the trick.  I booted in safe mode, uninstalled and deleted the Nvidia driver, disabled automatic driver installation, and restarted normally.  I then manually downloaded and installed the previous Nvidia driver for my graphics card (which at the time of this writing was 335.23, rather than the latest which was 337.88), and everything is now bueno!
Two hiccoughs along the way: First, when I tried to uninstall the Nvidia driver the first time, when I restarted I got the login screen (which was a good sign), but it quickly went black again.  I powered down, restarted in safe mode again, and repeated the uninstallation process, and it worked the second time.  Second, when I started the manual install of the 335.23 driver, the computer played a sound similar to the one for disconnecting a USB device, and the screen went black.  I'd seen a lot about trying to increase the brightness (though it hadn't worked up to this point; but if you haven't tried it yet, might as well); I tried it, and it worked! So far I'm back up and running. [/fingers crossed]
    Hope this helps someone else!

My sons ipod touch has a black screen with sometimes white lines and then flashes to colored lines. Also when i try to turn it off it turns right back on and has the apple symbol but then goes back to black screen with lines. what to do?

    - Try:

    - If not successful let the battery fully drain. After charging for at least an hour try again.
    - If still problem time for an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

Is it dead? Is there any way to fix it? It's sitting in a bag of rice right now, a desperate measure.

Are you saying it got water damage?  If not what mende1 suggested, or the following
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3281
is the way to proceed.  If it got wet all bets are off.

Wow- thanks Jim! I removed the case and voila... it worked. Knock on wood that you solved my problem with such an incredibly simple solution. I'll find out where this proximity sensor is and make sure my case does not interfere with it.
    Thanks so much.

  • My ipod has just black screen and the home button is not working. what will i do? help please!

my ipod has just black screen and the home button is not working. what will i do? help please!

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
When it says place the iPodin recovery mode use this prgram.
RecBoot: Easy Way to Put iPhone into Recovery Mode
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • TS3274 my ipad has a black screen and the apple logo and won't do anything else. I have tried to reset it but to no avail.

My ipad has a black screen and the apple logo and won't do anything else. I have tried to reset to no avail.

Try and force iPad into Recovery Mode
    1. Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
    2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
3.While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
    4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears, release the Home button. iTunes should alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then click Restore to restore the device.
Note: Data will be lost. You may have to repeat the above many times.

  • My ipad has a black screen and won't start, any ideas?

My Ipad 1 has a black screen and won't start, any ideas?  It is charged.

If Paul's advice doesn't work try this.
Hold down on the sleep button AND the home button at the same time for about 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears on the screen - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons and let the iPad restart.
BTW ...In order to start up under normal circumstances you only need to hold down on the sleep button for a couple of seconds or so until the Apple logo appears on the screen.
