My Magic Mouse doesn't scroll vertically after installing Lion.

Prior to installing Lion, I frequently turned the 'Scrolling' option off and on in the Mouse page of System Preferences. This is because my little boy plays minecraft on this mac and he kept accidentally scrolling while using the mouse, so when he plays, I turned the scrolling option off.
This morning, I installed Lion, and I guess scrolling was off before starting the install, becuase I now can not scroll vertically (horizontal swiping to switch full-screen apps, and double tapping all work).
So, I went into the system prefs and then into the Mouse page, but I can't find a checkbox anywhere to simply enable scrolling again.
Can anybody help with this?

Try this out. I got it from another thread:
1. Open Terminal
Copy and Paste the following script into terminal and you will have your Library folder back where it was in Leopard.
chflags nohidden /users/**username**/library
- Remember to substitute **username** for your account username!
2. Find the now visible Library folder in your user folder - go to the Preferences folder.
3. Rename    com.apple.driver.AppleBluetoothMultitouch.mouse.plist   or delete it. Then restart you computer.
Scrolling should be back.
Cheers

  • Magic Mouse, Trackpad, Bluetooth not working after Mountain Lion install

Is anyone else having the same issue after installing ML? I first noticed that my Magic Mouse didn't scroll as usual when I opened Safari.  When I went to preferences, it only gave me tracking & double-click speed options- no scrolling options.  I check the Accessibility preferences, but that didn't seem to help either.  When I tried my Trackpad to check the preferences, it said that one wasn't connected, even though that's exactly what I used to open it in the first place.  Now when I look at the top right hand corner for Bluetooth connectivity- it says Bluetooth- not available in a grayed out font. When I check out the About My Mac and check the Hardware->Bluetooth section it says 'No information found'.
I've tried the SMC/PRAM reset, unclicked "Disable automatic login" option in Security & Privacy preference page.  Shut down my iMac and turned off the keyboard, mouce, and trackpad and restarted them after restarting the iMac.
Now I can seem to find anything else to try.
Does anyone have anything else to try?

    Hi There,
I am having the same issues - is there a fix for it yet?

  • Magic Mouse doesn't scroll on Windows 7

    Hi
Today i setted up my Boot Camp partition with Windows 7 (64-bit, professional). After I installed all the drivers for Boot Camp, my Magic Mouse still coudn't scroll if i make swipes/wishes. I don't know what's wrong with it.
    Any suggestions/ideas?
PS: Yes, I set it up as HID Mouse in the Device Manager.

Similar problem here on my MBP 2011. I installed Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit using bootcamp assistant and exactly following the step-by-step bootcamp setup documentation. Everything went smoothly except for the Magic Mouse. At first, the mouse refused to work at all after installing the latest version of Windows Support Software from Apple, even though it was already showing and recognized as "working properly" in the device manager. My 1st resolve, based on another thread on this forum, was to remove/uninstall the mouse in both Windows and Mac in that exact order, then boot back into windows and re-add the magic mouse, which seemed to be working fine after that (including the scrolling, in both Windows and Mac OS). But then Windows prompted for a bunch of updates and after a few restarts, the Mouse scrolling function stopped working (can still track though) and running Bootcamp repair in Windows didn't help either.
is this mouse really that Magical?

  • My magic mouse doesn't scroll

So, I have a new iMac (late 2012) with Mountain Lion 10.8.2.
Everything works fine, except that my mouse dosen't scroll.
    I've tried everything.
The parameters in Accessibility are OK (scrolling selected), the ones in Mouse are OK (everything is selected). I've tried to reset the PRAM (didn't worked), I've tried to delete the mouse driver plist file from the library, etc.
This is not a hardware failure, because I've tried the mouse on another Mac and it works fine.
    This is really software.
    Anyone have any idea?
As I said, the parameters in Mouse and in Accessibility are good, I don't think the problem is there. The Secondary click works also, it's really just the scrolling, or any other multitouch feature (smart zoom don't work either).
    Thanks!

    Ok, new piece of information:
I've tried with a trackpad (again, a working one), and the scrolling dosen't works there either (only the point and click).
Is there a multi-touch library or something that could be missing?

  • My Safari doesn't work properly after installing Lion.  Don't like it, how can I uninstall? (Cloud not worth it)?

I upgraded ti Lion 10.7.2 for icloud but it's causing other problems with my mac.  My Safari doesn't work properly anymore.  Wishing I didn't upgrade, anyone know how to fix this or do i just have to uninstall?  Thanks,

Wipe the drive clean and install Snow Leopard from your install disk.
Might be less work fixing Safari. Try Resetting Safari.

  • After installing Lion, my microsoft office suite doesn't work anymore, and show this message: Application Power PC no longer available. How can I resolve it?

Is there any possibilty to recover the use of my Microsoft Office suite, which doesn't work anymore after installing Lion?
The programs display this error message: "no puede abrir la aplicación Microsoft Excel (o any other) porque las aplicaciones Power PC ya no son compatibles"
    thanks for your help

You will need to upgrade your suite of MS programs.
Older suites, like MS Office 2004, use program versions written for Macs with PPC processors. In order to use those apps in pre-Lion OS's on an Intel-processor machine, it was necessary to install Rosetta, software designed just for the purpose of using PPC-apps on an Intel machine.
Unfortunately, Lion does not support Rosetta, so those apps no longer work.
Solution - update them to a version which will work in Lion, such as the MS Office 2008 suite, or newer if available.

  • 10.10.1 magic mouse will not scroll now

10.10.1 magic mouse will not scroll now
    anyone else having this problem
mouse works... is recognized but the preference pane
has not swipe selection and i cannot turn off bluetooth

To resolve this issue try the following:
from the upper left corner of your screen click:
    1.  / system preferences / bluetooth
    2. Locate your mouse under the devices panel
    3. Remove your mouse
Click on it so it is highlighted in blue
Click in the blue "x" or you can click delete after you have selected your mouse.
    4. Reconnect your mouse (re "pair" ) your mouse
This should resolve the scrolling issue if it occurred after the 10.10.1 update.

  • Why does my magic mouse button and scroll surface not work?

My MacBook Air 13" ran out of power before I could connect it to a power source. After I was able to power it on again, the Magic Mouse button and scrolling surface could no longer work even though I could still use the optical pointer below to move the cursor. How can I restore the button and scrolling surface. Have tried powering down and up both the MacBook Air as well as the mouse. Also tried unpairing and re-pairing both but nothing works so far. Thanks.

Have you tried to edit your settings in Apple menu -> System preferences -> Keyboard and Mouse?

  • The button on the mouse doesn't scroll down or sidewides...

This is a minor bother but it bugs me every single day. The little nub-button (Button 3 according to System Preferences) on my cordless not-magic mouse will only scroll up; not down or side wides. I've mucked about with the mouse preferences setting but it's still not working. There has got to be an easy fix for this; I'm just missing it.
The batteries are still at 66% so I don't think that's the problem. Any ideas?
    Thanks.
    Brian

Usually when that happens, you need to clean it.
    Here's one demo video: http://km.support.apple.com/library/APPLE/APPLECARE_ALLGEOS/HT3226/HT326.mov
You will find many other ways of cleaning an Apple Mighty Mouse (the only one with a scroll ball) - just search for variations of "mighty mouse scroll ball" in your favorite search engine.

  • We just added Maverick to our Mac and now the magic mouse will not scroll with finger tips!!

We just upgraded our system to Maverick. Now our majic mouse does not respond to the finger swipe at all.
Also the volume contro;s stopped working on the wireless keyboard.

    Hi davidgraham193,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If your Magic Mouse is not scrolling, first go to the Mouse section of System Preferences and try toggling the "Scroll direction: natural" checkbox to see if it has an effect.
    Scroll direction: natural:
Select this option to move the contents of a window the same direction as your fingers.
