My mail account disappeared!

my Mail Account disappeared and I had to add the account again. When I did this there was no Junk Box or a Trash box showing in the list of Mailboxes. His do I get these back/to show again?

The Mail app is still there. One of my accounts simply doesn't work. The same account works fine on my desktop computer (the one IPhone is synced with) but it won't download mail on my IPhone. When I try to send a test message from IPhone to that account I get an error message and it won't receive test message sent from my desktop. The tests from my desktop come in fine to the desktop but not the IPhone.
I have reset the IPhone and tried re-configuring the Mail account. No luck.

  • Mail account disappears - help?

    Hi,
my pop3 mail account disappears almost every day. So I need to add it again in the mail settings to receive mails. Maybe it has something to do with the mail provider (Strato, a big internet provider in Germany) but I wonder why that should be. Any advices, help?
    Thanks a lot
    Ben

    Hi,
as Safari was instabil as well, I decided to reinstall iPhone using the iTunes feature. It worked perfectly, making a data backup first. Since then everything works fine.

  • How do I fix it when an e-mail account disappears from the left panel of the main interface (with inbox of another account on right)..

I recently added two accounts to Thunderbird and everything seemed to be going smoothly. Today I was using one of the new accounts and wanted to change to my old Edurostream account. But it was nowhere to be found. The new accounts and another old account are there. If I go to "accounts" Edurostream is still there, but there is no way I know of to get from there to the inbox for that account. There is no error message. I am using the latest version of Thunderbird (24.6)

If you have all your emails going to Local folders, this sounds like you have a Global Inbox for the pop mail account.
    You can check this here:
Tools > Account settings > Server Settings for the mail account.
    click on 'Advanced' button.
    Is this selected?
'Inbox for a different account' and 'Global Inbox (Local Folders)'
Global Inbox accounts do not show the mail account name in the Folder Pane as it does not use those folders.
See info on Global Inbox account:
    http://kb.mozillazine.org/Global_Inbox
If you remove the account, the emails will remain in Local Folders.
If you change the settings as described above to point to 'Inbox for this servers account (also see image below - words may be a bit different as not an image of latest version), then you will see the mail account in the Folder Pane with it's own set of folders. New mail will go to those folders, but old mail will remain in Local Folders.

  • Mail Accounts disappear!

Mail seemed to freeze up today - wouldn't send an Email - and when I quit and then restarted Mail, it came up with non of my POP Email Inboxes showing!
Just the .Mac Inbox was there - all other inboxes were no longer showing on the left.
    Anyone seen this???
I checked my Library/Mail folder, and the POP inbox folders are still there - but Mail does not see them.
All apple support could suggest was manually re-configuring each account from scratch, inputting the Email details, servers, passwords etc etc - a real pain
Anyone any ideas as to how I could get Mail to re-recognize my accounts????
    Thx.
    Chris.

LOL, make me #4 because it happened to me as well. I was sending a mail message at the time and my computer completely locked up. No kernel panic messages, it just froze. After a restart and I launched mail all my email accounts except for my .mac were gone from my mail account preferences. Luckily my mail folder was fine, it seems the preference was corrupted. So my advice is to locate a com.apple.mail preference from your backup and replace your current one. Worked for me finally.
The good news is I took this opportunity to convert all 6 of my Gmail accounts from pop to imap.

  • All mail accounts disappeared from mail

Today, I can not get any mail from my mail accounts becaue no accounts are listed. I migrated to iCloud, but it didn't do any good. Mail.app is now useless and I have no way to send or receive email. What the **** do I do now????

OK, I have solved it by using the instructions posted here:
    http://www.wilmut.webspace.virginmedia.com/notes/icloudmail.html
However, now that my @mac.com account has gone from my Mail.app, I can't get at any past mail that was listed by the thousands in the inbox under [email protected]
Is there any way that I can migrate all the mail that was listed under @mac.com to the @me.com iCloud account? If I enable the @mac.com account I can see the list, but Mail app keeps trying to download mail from a that server that no longer exists and ties things up.
    Anybody?

  • Mail Account Disappeared!!! HELP!!!

I was using my work email on "Mail" and things were going smooth for the last 10 months.
Today it started acting weird where my emails were going missing and it prompted me to restart "Mail" and it took 15 mins to rebuild my whole mailbox of 5000+ emails.
I then tried sending emails out to clients but it kept prompting me that the email could not be sent out.
I decided to quit "Mail" and restarted my laptop.
When I clicked on "Mail" it started guiding me to set up an email account.
I then tried to set up my mail again, and guess what, I started facing the same problems as my previous post in this forum!
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2578755&tstart=0
(Which by the way has is still an unresolved issue...)

    Bob,
Probably only the file named com.apple.mail.plist from the Home/Library/Preferences location. It may also have a version with .saved appended, not sure.
It would seem your iMac may not have had an orderly shutdown, at least not safely after Mail had completed its housekeeping tasks. The would account for the com.apple.mail.plist being rewritten. Since your MobileMe account is available in part in System Preferences, Mail is able to automatically set it back up.
Make sure make a temporary back up the Mail folder until this is resolved.

  • Mail Account Disappeared

Yet again I have switched on my computer, clicked on the mail icon and it has come up with the box which guides you to make a new email account. Why is this happening? This is the third or fourth time this has occurred in the last year.

I have lots of free space on my hard drive and wasnt using anything which was a particularly heavy user. This is not a laptop, but I do switch off the computer at the mains when I close it down at night, and may on occasion have switched it off before it completed housekeeping.............
Having said that, it has wiped my account out when changes were made to the mail application generally.

  • The password of my mail account disappears frequently

this happens in the Mail preferences only with one of my email accounts and on one of my Mac's

If you tried to change just the password and that didn't work, then I would delete the account from your iPad and then readd it to see if adding it from scratch will allow the new password to go through.

  • My Mail Accounts are disappearing!

    Hey!
My mail accounts disappear after my computer restarts. The email i have saved in folders stay, but i have to reconfigure my emails. And now, each time i do, i have problems sending emails.
    HELP
    Thanks!

Hi, are other things staying, like Bookmarks, Pictures, etc.?
Could be many things, we should start with this...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair Disk, (not Repair Permissions). Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.

  • I tried several times to setup a mail account with Thunderbird, but next time I boot the computer and start Thunderbird, no account is shown.

I bought a new desktop PC with Win 8.1 and installed Firefox and Thunderbird.
Then, I tried to configure the e-mail account manually (as IMAP) following the instructions provided here: https://support-en.upc-cablecom.ch/app/answers/detail/a_id/22 , but failed to configure the smtp outgoing mail server correctly (I could receive mail, but not send them). Subsequently, I deleted that account. Then, I launched the automatic mail setting tool provided by UPC Cablecom under the link http://www.upc-cablecom.ch/content/dam/www-upc-cablecom-ch/Support/executables/upc-cablecom-email-assistent.exe and it did successfully setup the account, however as a POP3 account. As I was not happy with it, I deleted the POP3 incoming mail server (and lost the received e-mails, of course...) and retried a manual setup. Doing so, I obtained an incoming IMAP mail account plus two outgoing SMTP server (comparing them, I also understood the configuration mistake I had done the first time). I then deleted the manual SMTP server as the automatically setup server worked properly.
In this context, both receiving and sending e-mail worked OK. However, the next time I started the computer, the e-mail account disappeared and Thunderbird asked me to setup a new account again. I successfully set it up manually one more time, but the same problem surfaced again at the next boot, the e-mail account was gone...!
Thanks in advance for your help!

Check what profile is being used.
AppMenu button - Help - Troubleshooting Information - Profile Directory - Open Directory
Your profile folder should open in Windows Explorer. What is the profile location?
Reboot your computer and repeat the steps above. Has the profile folder changed?

  • Apple Mail account missing in Mac and iphone

Last Sunday, one of my mail accounts disappeared in apple mac.
This morning, the same mail account disappeared in iphone.
I did not delete any account.
What's more strange is that the account seems to exist since I cannot add a new account using the same setting/information. It says the same account already exists
I have exactly the same mail settings on mac, iphone and iPad. Hopefully my ipad won't get screwed up.

I just had an account vanish on my apple mail. I was able to re-enter it though.

  • I have two computers one 10.5.8 one 10.6.8.  Updated the 10.6.8 and now my mail has disappeared on one computer - do I sync account to get all my mail content back?

I have two computers one IMac 10.5.8 one MacBookPro 10.6.8.  Updated the MacBookPro 10.6.8 and now my mail has disappeared on that computer - do I sync account to get all my mail content back onto the MacBookPro?

You can do it. This article from Macworld will be helpful to you:
    http://www.macworld.com/article/161087/2011/07/install_lion_over_leopard.html
    I recommend the "brute-force" method.
Just make sure you have your data backed up properly!

  • Camera icon disappears when i setup a mail account

My iphone has 4.2.1 update. every time I set up my work mail the camera disappears. Once i delete the account the camera appears again.
My company mail is hosted in google app so i add my account through exchange to give me full control ( cal, contacts, mail ...etc)
I tried to restore the ios but its the same thing. I cant find any relation between exchange mail account and The camera!!

i do not think I have made any policy regarding the Cameras.
You're not the one that makes the policy, but your company can restrict the camera when setting up a company exchange account, so the question I asked in my first post, which you have not answered is: Have you checked with your company's IT dept?

  • 10.6.5 Mail - Crazy Account Disappearing Problems on 2 machines!

My mail on my MacPro started crashing yesterday. Mail accounts (POP and Apple) disappeared. I replaced the mail.plist file and all's well, for like 5 minutes. Then one account or two would disappear, or maybe all. Then I noticed the same thing was happening on my MacBookPro, delayed, mirroring what was happening on the tower. So, some research suggested also replacing the address.plists along with the mail.plist. Which I've done now multiple times on both machines with older time machine versions from like 10 days ago. Each time all appears well, accounts show up, mail comes in, then either crashes, or one or more accounts disappear from the left menu.
HELP! Is it a virus? A Bug in recent Mac software auto upgrades?
I have to say, because its happening on two separate machines simultaneously, this is the weirdest system problem I've had in 25 years of Mac use.

Sounds like something is interrupting the housekeeping tasks in Mail, and resulting in the loss, corruption, or other of the plist.
This can happen with a sudden loss of power, or running out of space on the boot volume, even if only temporary because some other app is using the disk space.
Start on the Mac Pro, and run Verify Disk to look for possible reasons for the crash you reported. The crash of Mail could result in the loss of the plist info.
Have you any Mail plugin or enhancement app for Mail on these Macs?
