My Mail, Contacts, Calendars keep crashing
Everytime I try to go into my Mail,Contacts, Calendars in settings it crashes. What can I do?
Try a reset.
Doing a Reset:
Hold the home and power button until the Apple boot logo appears. No data will be lost.

I hava a Iphone4 and have upgraded to IOS 5.0. Since then when selecting prefereces>Mail,Contacts, Calendars the Preferences Screen crashes. Result: I cant change email preferences anymore... any Ideas what to do?
this worked for me: (thanks to @fortbailey!)
(1) If your iPad/phone is syncing contacts with iCloud, turn it off. In Settings on your iPad/phone, Mail,Contacts,Calendars, Accounts, iCloud, turn off Contacts.
(2) sync your iPad/phone to iTunes.
(3) now select the ‘Info’ tab in iTunes for your iPad/iPhone. Ensure that ‘Sync Address Book Contacts’ is ticked. (You can revert to syncing with iCloud later, after this process is complete.)
(4) scroll to the very bottom section of the Info tab. Where it says ‘Replace information on this iPad/iPhone’, select ‘Contacts’.
(5) Sync again.
Now check Calendars on iPad/iPhone, this process ‘fixes’ the information of birth dates and they should now appear correctly. -
In system preferences iCloud, mail contacts calendar crash
In system preferences icloud and mail, contacts, calendars crash, so I can't alter them.
Mail seems to freeze and only way to restart is force quit and then it is fine till I think it updates with iCloud again and then won't shut down again unless force quit.Hi lynne168,
If System Preferences or Mail are quitting unexpectedly, there are a few ways to isolate and resolve the issue.
First, I'd recommend booting your computer into safe mode:

If the applications are working normally in safe mode, this usually means OS X is fine, and the issue is caused by conflicting software in your user account.
Next, see if your computer behaves normally in a new user accoun:

If the issue persists in safe mode and a new user, I would recommend reinstalling OS X:

I updated to iOS5 weeks ago; but suddenly I can't open the mail, contacts, calendar settings and I am not getting any email to my iPad2 AND it keeps trying to connect and it is runnijng the battery down...any help?
I already tried rebooting, and I tried hooking it up to itunes as well, no luck there either.Try to reset all settings.
Settings > General > Reset > Reset all Settings. It won't delete your data.
When you say reboot, do you mean you pressed the home and sleep button at the same time until it restarted? -
Hi,
Upgraded new Ipad2 to IOS5.0.1.Unable to open Contacts.... closes instantly. Also unable to access Mail,Contacts, Calendars in Settings.
Turned on iCloud and attempted to turn on Contacts (solution suggested elsewhere). Its asks if 'Merge Contacts'. Selecting 'Merge' crashes settings back to homepage.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.I have the same problem. This was a very expensive Christmas present to myself. I spent Christmas morning setting it up & updating the software only to find that clicking the “mail, contacts etc.” in settings sends me straight back to the home screen. Does anyone at Apple read these forums? Although I have been using computers for years, on a recommendation from an Apple user this was my first Apple purchase, at this rate it will be my last.What happens if "Restore" in iTunes is used?

Mail on Yosemite keeps crashing
Hi everyone,
My mail app on Yosemite keeps on crashing a short while after starting it up. I've tried numerous things, removing the accounts from preferences solves the issue, but when I add them again the error reoccurs. I've also tried a manual reset by deleting all cache files etc. This doesn't resolve the issue either.

Quit Mail if it's running. Open the Internet Accounts or Mail, Contacts & Calendars pane in System Preferences. Select each of your mail accounts in the list on the left and click the "-" button below to delete it from the list (the messsages themselves won't be deleted.) Launch Mail. I want to use Mac and my office requires a PC, whats the best way to stay in sync. Ive been partially successful at trying to sync my Hosted Exchange account with Mail, Contacts and iCal but it seems inconsistant.
Can someone help me with the proper setting to get this to work?
OR
Do I need to load Outlook on my Mac and IOS devises?
OR
Is there another option?
I have searched the forums and havent found a good solution detailed. Hope to correct that here.

On the iPad and iPhone, set up your iCloud by going to Settings -> iCloud and entering your username and password. Choose to sync all.
Set up your Hosted Exchange by going to Settings -> Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Add Account... Choose Exchange as the option and enter the info.
For iCloud on the Mac, click the Apple icon -> System Preferences -> iCloud. Then sign in.
For Exchange on the Mac, click the Apple icon -> System Preferences -> Mail, Contacts, & Calendars -> Microsoft Exchange and enter the info.
For iCloud on the PC, you must be running Outlook 2007 or 2010 and have downloaded the iCloud Control Panel. Sign in and choose to sync with Outlook.
For Exchange on the PC, use Outlook. Add the account... -
Error enabling "Mail, Contacts, Calendars, and Tasks with Outlook" in iCloud 3.0 Control Panel
Unable to enable option “Mail, Contacts, Calendars, and Tasks with Outlook” under iCloud 3.0 Control Panel.
Get following error when clicking checkbox to enable it under iCloud 3.0 Control Panel.
"Setup can't continue because Outlook isn't configured to have a default profile. Check your Outlook settings and try again."
Have tried the following:
Uninstalled / reinstalled iCloud 3.0 control panel
Removed all mail accounts from Outlook 2013 except MS account
Confirmed Outlook was chosen for “Always uses this profile” under Control Panel – Mail (MicroSoft Outlook 2013) – show profiles
Still get the same error when trying to enable the option under iCloud 3.0 Control Panel
PC is running Windows 8.1 (64 bit)

<Personal Information Edited by Host>These are user-to-user forums, you are not talking to Apple here, so I've asked the hosts to remove your email address, postal addresses and phone numbers from your post.
I'm not entirely sure what you are saying, but if those apps are crashing then have you tried toggling them 'off' and 'on' via Settings > iCloud ? And if that doesn't fix it then try closing them via the iPad's taskbar : from the home screen (i.e. not with any app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of each app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
You could also try a soft-reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

My hotmail access disappeared from my iPad. When I go to settings and click 'mail, contacts, calendars' the page freezes. It doesn't allow me to the account setting. Anyone have suggestions?
Your Settings app is crashing. Sometimes, the only way to fix this is by restoring the iOS software but hopefully it will not come to that.
1. Quit the app completely and restart the iPad. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the task bar will appear with all of your recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar. Restart the iPad.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
2. Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
3. You can try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your app preferences and device settings again. -
Help, I can,t get mail contacts calendar to load in settings.
My mail won't download. When I go to settings to check it the mail, contacts, calendar option won't load it seems to freeze on the previous option. Any ideas please
Try to use the SearchReset extension to reset some preferences to the default values.

I tried to restart so many times but still not working, now my email is open and everybody can check it. Pls help
I'm not at all sure about this - if it has any bearing is what I mean - do you have restrictions turned on?
Settings>General>Restrictions>On.... if you do have it turned on, that can prevent anyone from making changes to email accounts. But the way you describe what is happening - it sounds like the Mail, Contacts, Calendars Setting is crashing for some reason. "Send me automatically to the main screen" sounds like a crash - that is what apps do when they crash or quit unexpectedly.
I don't use restrictions and I've never seen them "in action" so to speak. I just assumed that if you had restrictions enabled, the setting is greyed out and "unselectable" if you will.
The only other things I can think of that you can try are to reset the iPad and then restore it if that fails.

If the setting went bad, I know of nothing else to try other than to restore. -
Why cant I add contacts on the iphone4? the mail contacts calendars button unders settings, the contacts button, the add a contacts button under message and the phone button will not work to add a contact.

Suddenly I have over 300 emails appearing on my ipad2. I know you are supposed to be able to change that by going to "Mail, Contacts, Calendars", then select "Show". Well, when I do that, "Show" doesn't appear as an option. Any thoughts on how I get "Show" back?
Tap the blue + sign in the upper right corner of the Safari toolbar to open a new tab. Then look in the lower left portion of the screen for the word "Private". Tap that to turn off private browsing.

If you don't have an Installer disk then you can't install without a purchase. Do you have the grey SystemRestore disks that came with your Mac? It's on that. No, iPhoto is not part of Lion.

Hi, is it possible to delete a layer in Acrobat X (by scripting) ? I need to delete it because although it is hidden and locked it still shows up in Safari on a Mac. It takes a lot of hours to go back to InDesign and then Acrobat so that's no option
