On top of this my recovered files keep appearing and so do deleted drafts.

I can almost guarantee that your Mail isn't configured correctly. Sometimes, changes in the ISP can cause your Mail to go haywire; other times, a system update may do it.
In my experience, the most efficient way to taking care of this is:
1. Print out your settings for each of your accounts. While the info may not be 100% accurate, it's information you should have.
2. Open Mail, and then Mail Preferences/Accounts.
3. Highlight an account (if it isn't already), and use the minus ( - ) sign to delete it. Do the same for the other accounts. Now, there aren't any Mail accounts listed.
4. In the part of the screen where you used the minus, use the plus ( + ) to add your first account. You'll be guided by the software to enter the correct information. Do the same with your other accounts, if any.
This gets rid of the deleted drafts, and allows you to access Mail again.

My work uses Go Daddy for our mail server at work. Up until 2 weeks ago, it was connected to Apple Mail using IMAP just fine. Then I stopped being able to receive mail to Apple mail or my phone. I tried something similar by adding a new mail account doing the apple id etc but it worked in that it would look for mail but no mail would come even though mail still goes to my phone I was loath to delete my original account just in case the new one did not work as well. So I guess I am a little stuck now.. I hope you can help me to sort it out.

I Cannot receive mail on my iPad. Password correct in setting. Receiving mail on another iPad with same password yahoo account have had no trouble till yesterday.

A lot of people have been unable to access Yahoo e-mail on their iPhones or iPads. My wife’s iPad was not downloading Yahoo mail, although her iPhone was. Both used IOS 8.2. We tried deleting the account several times and troubleshooting all of the other settings. The problem appears to have been that allowing the IOS to automatically create the account on the iPad resulted in the wrong settings for the incoming server. The following procedure, pieced together from two websites, fixed the problem for us. So far, so good.

On the iPhone, tap Settings.

IMail freezes, and won't send or receive mail

I just updated system software on both of my iMacs at home. Everything seems to work fine, except iMail. All of my internet connections are correct, but the software appears basically dead. Icons are grayed out. I can create a new message, and hit send. It just goes away. I don't hear the notification sound, nada. No problems connecting to the internet.
Even more strange -- I have to force quit in order to close iMail, even if I do absolutely nothing besides open the application. iMail does the exact same thing on both of my iMacs. Oh, and I downloaded all of the software upgrades AFTER installing Leopard. Ironically there is not an iMail upgrade. Any ideas? Anyone?

How long has it been going on? I've had my yahoo mess up and if i wait a bit it resolves itself. Yahoo is doing something with their servers and it messes with your mail if your mail happens to be on one of those servers.

Your reply suggests that you have moved Mail to a different location, which (as I said) will prevent it from being properly updated. You cannot use Mail 4.5 with any recent version of Mac OS X. Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion) included Mail 5 and Mac OS X 10.8 (Mountain Lion) includes Mail 6. I'm assuming that you have either Lion or Mountain Lion, but if that is incorrect, you will need to provide that information.
At this point, you will need to reinstall your system. Hold down command-R at startup and reinstall the system right on top of the old one. This should not disturb any of your documents or applications, though you should have backups beforehand in case something goes wrong. And at this point, with your system in an uncertain state (I don't entirely know what you have done to it), something could go wrong.
You will also want to delete the old copy of Mail 4.5, wherever that is. You can't use it.
In the future, do not move any of the preinstalled applications. Leave them where they are.

Check your smtp preferences in mail.app.
See if mail.app's Connection Doctor has any useful info. Does it's status indicate all is ok? When you use it's Show Detail are there any (useful) error messages?

Exactly which driver did you downlaod and from where? By "GET STRAT", do you mean one of the Getting Started VIs? Error 5 means "NI-488: Command requires GPIB Controller to be System Controller." Are you using GPIB to control the instrument? If so, what type of board are you using and which version of VISA and NI-488? If the error only occurs on a read, try issuing the query from MAX and see if the error occurs there. In a couple of the Xantrex drivers I looked at, there seemed to be some fixed delays after a write and before a read. You might try increasing those values to see if that makes any difference.

Please follow these directions to delete the Mail "sandbox" folder.
Back up all data.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:

Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A Finder window should open with a folder named "com.apple.mail" selected. If it does, move the selected folder—not just its contents—to the Desktop. Leave the Finder window open for now.
Restart the computer. Launch Mail and test. If the problem is resolved, you may have to recreate some of your Mail settings. Any custom stationery that you created may be lost. Ask for instructions if you want to preserve that data. You can then delete the folder you moved and close the Finder window.
Caution: If you change any of the contents of the sandbox, but leave the folder itself in place, Mail may crash or not launch at all. Deleting the whole sandbox will cause it to be rebuilt automatically.

Hi. I have an iphone 4s and the screen is barely readable. it is nearly completely black. The light beside the camera seems to come on every time that I turn on the phone but yet the screen doesn't seem to come on. i have restored the iphone and done everything it says in other forums but yet nothing is working. it is on the set up screen ready to set up as a new iphone but it is so hard to see everything that i cannot set it up. im planning on bringing it back to vodafone tomorrow to see if they can do anything. Any suggestions on what to do?
