My Mail programs insists on putting flags on some email; I cannot find a setting to make it STOP flagging email unless I want it to!

My mail program insists on putting flags on some emails and not others; I cannot figure out how it is choosing or why.  I would like to flag an email if I need to do further work.
I have check rules...
Thanks,  Mo

You need to download the Google Notifier and set it as the default email client. To restore the application, try running the applicable combo updater; if that doesn't work, you'll absolutely need the disks or a backup to get it back.

Using iPad mail program I have a draft of an email. I have attempted to "cancel" this and "delete draft" but the email stays on my screen. How can I exit this so that I can use other email functions?

Try closing the Mail app completely and see if it works properly when you re-open the app : from the home screen (i.e. not with the Mail app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Mail app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't work also do a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • My mail program does not update when I delete emails in my other email programs (i.e. it still shows messages in my mail inbox when I've deleted them).  I think this started with Maverick?  Any solutions?

  • MAIL PROGRAM WON'T OPEN when click on email link

When I click on an email address when on the web, nothing happens.
Something trys to open, the general "mail" icon pops up briefly in the dock, but fails.
I would ideally like my gmail to open, but cannot find a way to set this up in Safari.
    Anyone know what to do?
    Thanks!

From the Safari menu bar, select
              Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
Turn all extensions OFF and test. If the problem is resolved, turn extensions back ON and then disable them one or a few at a time until you find the culprit.

  • Mail From field overwrites To field for some emails

Every so often I receive eMails that have a messed up header.  The From line overwrites the To line.  Here is a sample.  Any ideas on how to fix?  Here is a screen snap of the issue.
    Thanks,
    Jim

It may be that you have more than one outgoing mail account, and you're sending from the wrong one. From the Mail menu bar, select
    Mail ▹ Preferences
The Mail preference dialog opens. Select the Composing tab from the row of icons at the top. From the menu labeled
    Send new messages from:
    choose
    Account of selected mailbox
Note that this setting may have no effect if you start a new message while a VIP or smart mailbox is selected in the mailbox list. Those are saved searches, not actual mailboxes.
If the problem remains, select the Accounts tab in the preference dialog, then select the affected account in the list on the left.
In the Account Information pane, select the correct server in the menu labeled
    Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)
If there's only one server in the menu, select
    Edit SMTP Server List...
and add a new server with the correct settings. If you're not sure how to do that, try the Mail Setup Assistant.
Another possibility is that the wrong card in your address book is selected as yours. Select your card in the Contacts application. Then select
Card ▹ Make This My Card
    from the menu bar.

Since installing the new ios7 on my iPhone 5  I cannot set my email to only show a certain amount of emails ?  Did we loose that ability or do I not know where to find it . It use to be in settings of e-mail . I really really mis this feature ? Please let me know if we can still do that somehow?

    Leigh...
but cannot do this because I cannot access Mac App Store
If you can't access the App Store from the Apple menu, Dock, or Applications folder installing the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo will reinstall the App Store for you.
It's ok to do this even you are already running v10.6.8.
Plants vs. Zombies, and that is all for additional software on here
FYI:  Some third party software can cause issues with the App Store >   Mac App Store: Sign in sheet does not appear, or does not accept typed text
Apple is not responsible for incompatibility isssues with third party software.

  • I think that all of my mail settings are accurate, but there are some emails that are not making it to my inbox.

Why might some emails that go to my .mac account not make it into my inbox?

  • Send email with native mail program

    Hi!
I am writing a web application emails are auromatically prepared for the user to send. The catch is that I need to either send the mail using the clients native email application or find a way of adding the sent mail to the sent items folder of the native mail program. I have spent quite some time researching this. Am I trying to do the impossible?
    Many thanks in advance

  • Is there a way to completely reinstall my mail program?

I'm having serious problems with my Mail program and am thinking that maybe if I just completely reinstall Mail on my MacBook Pro, that might help. How would I go about this? (And is there a way to do it without using those discs you get when you buy your computer? Because I lost those when our basement flooded during Hurricane Irene!)

Your problem is more likely because of something in your User, the Mail program is a global item, meaning many users can use the same program.
You can try a simple fix first.
Use the Finder > Go to open:
    ~/Library/Preferences
    and drop the
    com.apple.mail.plist
file into the Trash, reboot the machine and launch Mail, reset your preferences. See if that fixs your issue. (the plist file is automatically recreated)
To find out if it's really something in your user or the mail program itself, create/log into a another user and use the Mall program there, if issues still occur, it's the Mail program.
(If it's not in the Mail program, reinstalling it will make no difference.)
The Mail program is reinstalled from the 10.6 disks as bundled programs, or part of a "OS X overwrite" that replaces your current OS X and bundled programs with the older version on the 10.6 disk, you need to immediately Software update afterwards to get OS X and bundled programs current again.
To perform the OS X overwrite, hold c boot off the 10.6 installer disk and simply install OS X, then reboot normally and apply Software update to get current. The Mail program itself will be replaced.
Some third party programs that have kext files and other "hooks" into OS X may not function again after performing the OS X overwrite, you just need to reinstall these programs again from fresh sources and it will replace those hooks/kext files back into OS X.
Please backup your files to a external storage drive and mainatin two seperate hardware copies of your data off the machine at ALL times.

  • TS3276 how do I remove mail program from my computer.  It pops up every time I want to mail something off internet and it does not work.

    Hello,
I just do not want to use the mail program.  I go directly to my email account.  Mail always pops up when I try to email something off of the internet.  Do not want to use that program.  It is not working.
    Thank you

Hi Judy, one silly thing abiut it, is you have to setup Mail, even with a fake account to get to Mail>Preferences to select your default app for Mail!???
Though I dislike Mail.App myself, it's a lot easier than WebMail n a Browser though... maybe we could help you set it up for a try... since you need to anyway to change the default Mail App?

  • Apple Mail program will not delete messages

I have a new MacBook Pro Retina. In the Apple Mail program, I am having trouble deleting some messages from my work email (uses Microsoft Exchange). When I login online to my email account, I see certain messages are deleted. On my MacBook, however, they still show up in my inbox. When I delete them, or right click and move to trash, an error message pops up that says they cannot be moved to trash. This is odd, because on the server they appear already to be in the trash.
I have tried restarting, closing and opening Mail, etc. By the way, my older work computer on which I also access the account via Apple Mail works seemlessly.
    Ideas?

Ah Hah! Though I tried searching for a similar thread, I could not find one until I posted the message and the "More Like This" box on the right led me to similar issues.
I did end up highlighting the box, and going to "Mailbox" -> "Rebuild" which fixed the problem. I hope it does not occur again.

  • Running 10.9.2, out of the blue I can no longer minimize e-mails in Mac mail program.  I have to put the cursor on the upper edge of the screen to show the tool bar that allows me to scroll down to quit mail to get out the of the program.

Recently my mail program has changed itself and I can no longer see the red, yellow and green dots allowing me to close minimize and enlarge.  To get out of mail I have to put the cursor on the top edge of the toolbar expanding to another toolbar that will allow me to quit mail.  This is a real pain right where my mother never kissed me.  How do I get the dots back?

Move the mouse to the far upper right corner of the screen.  You should see a blue box with two arrows pointing inwards.  Click that blue icon.  Sounds like you put the Application into whats called Fullscreen Mode.

  • I just upgraded to OS X 10.6.7 and mail is putting most of my emails in the Spam folder.  I move them to the appropriate folder, but is there anything else I can do to "train it"?

You can see that most of my question is the title.  I just upgraded to OS X 10.6.7 & have a minor problem.  Mail keeps putting most of my emails into the Spam Folder.  I then move them to the appropriate folders (I have several email accounts)  Will this eventually train the program to know what is spam & what is not or am I stuck with constantly doing this?

Returning to Mail Preferences - Junk Mail, in the section
    When junk mail arrives:
select mark as junk mail but leave it in my inbox
This should then give you the opportunity to mark it as Not Junk
and after several days it may improve.
I say 'may improve', based on my experience of when I upgraded to 10.5 a few years ago.  It took a while to learn what I kept insisting was not junk. It is a slow learner but it got there.
P.S. When you are satisfied it is identifying junk reasonably accurately, you can change the Preferences setting back to  'Move it to the Junk mail box'
