My mail wont stay deleted

so when i delete my mail from my trash/spam/junk they will delete but the second I click on another mailbox all of the messages that i just deleted start filtering back in. I have set mail back to default settings and deleted my email account and re-added it but the mail comes with it. These e-mails are from when i first got my email and since they wont delete they keep piling up! I have around 5000 emails that will not stay deleted! I have tried everything!

I am having the same problem.
I have a Macbook Pro..brand new.  I am using GoDaddy for IMAP services (about 8 accounts).
I have seen that I will go through a bunch of emails in my "inbox" (the consolidated inbox for all my accounts).  I will delete a bunch of emails.  They disappear and stay gone for a while.
When I explore other mailboxes individually and then go back and click on the "inbox" for all accounts and there they all.  All the messages I replied to, moved to other folders, and deleted.  It's really bad!
I have rebuilt the overall inbox as well as all the other individual ones.
On a side note, spelling and grammar checking in Safair *****.  It never works.  Happens in Mac Mail too.
I have been a PC person for decades and am trying to move over to Mac.  This stuf makes it very hard to do this.  It is continual frustration and I am doing just the easy stuff.  Outlook doesnt have any of these problems.  Sure, it may run poorly on the Mac, but how much worse can it be from this?  Look above, note that the spell check inside of Safari did not catch the spelling errors?
Please help!!!!

  • Mail wont stay online HELP!

I cannot get my mail to stay connected. It either keeps going offline or keeps asking me for my password. When it wont connect it says to verify password and username (which are correct every time). When it has server issues it just says pop3 and port 995 failed. I thought my icloud mail and live mail may have been conflicting so I unchecked the use this server only box for each one and have not had the server error since. But now the password constantly being asked is the main issue. How do I fix this? I've tried several things already.

I believe they both were not connecting but now it just keeps asking for my live email password every few minutes. I can send mail during the the few seconds I type the password and hope it goes before it asks again. I have not received any emails though for the past 2 days.

  • Can't get e-mail to stay deleted

When I delete e-mail messages from my icloud (formerly .me, formerly .mac account), they just pop right back up again. I select the message in Mail, click the trash icon, and the message appears to go away. But if I click over to another mail account, and then back, the messages are there all over again.
    Help!
If I can't trash messages, I'm going to ditch icloud. So far, this is totally not worth it.

Thanks for the response orangekay. As it turns out, they took back the router that they had bought and they picked up an AirPort Express station and now everything is working perfectly fine again.
Still not sure what the exact problem was but my sister is happy with how things worked out

  • Messages wont stay deleted

I have an iPhone 4s and after downloading ios 7, I noticed I was unable to delete full conversations anymore. Whenever I swipe a conversation and press delete, it crashes my message app and then deletes all my conversations. When i restart my phone all my messages come back including the one I originally tried to delete.
Ive tried every way of deleting the conversations except deleting the texts one by one because some of the conversations are years long. I need to clear this space up too because my messages are almost taking up 2GB of my phone.
THIS PROBLEM ONLY STARTED AFTER IOS 7.

  • Email wont stay deleted

my emails keep coming back even after i have deleted them. i have both a live and hotmail account, using 4.2.1. it was working fine until a couple days ago. i have deleted the accounts, reinstalled them, restarted the device and deleted the emails from the server itself and the emails still show up as unread.

I'm having the exact same problem. It's driving me crazy. I hope we get an answer soon.

  • I've deleted all of mail, including trash and sent folders, but my mail usage stays high at around 1.4 gb. What am I missing?

I've deleted all of mail, including trash and sent folders, but my mail usage stays high at around 1.4 gb. What am I missing?

It is possible it just hasn' updated yet.
    Try resetting:
Hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons and don’t let go until the screen goes dark and the Apple logo appears (no data will be lost)

  • Mail wont open in Leopard

Have upgraded to Leopard also installed XP Pro in NTFS format, I use Leopard for all day to day stuff and XP Pro infrequently. When I try and launch MAIL the following message appears on screen MAIL WONT LAUNCH. During the set up of XP Pro I went on line and validated. I was wondering if this has blocked my mail. Safari is working fine and all other network links around the office are fine.
    Thanks

Sounds like you've co-minglied an old install?
Check your MAIL app version...should be 4.2. If not and you can't find it, do a custom install from the SL DVD and choose to install related applications only.
If still no joy, try this - find the /Library/Preferences folder in your user/Home folder and then locate and delete this file:
    com.apple.mail.plist
*Caution* - doing this may clear your account settings so be sure to note those first in the event you are required to reconfigure, etc.

  • After updating my iphone 5 of ios 7, I delete or trash my emails rorm my inbox and they pop back up in my inbox.  How do I fix this?  They are deleted from the main server but show up in my email on my phone and will not stay deleted.

I recently updated my iphone 5 to IOS 7 and since doing this, i cannot get my email messages to stay deleted when I trash them.  They have been deleted from the main mail server but show up on my phone.  When I trash them, they disappear for a few seconds and then re-appear in the inbox. I tried deleted my mail account from my phone and re-adding it, but this worked for about 12 hours and now its doing it again. I also have shut my phone off and rebooted it but this did not work.  How do I fix this?

Have you tried restarting or resetting your iPhone?
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after It shuts down, press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds).
Also consider deleting and reinstalling the Mail Account in question.

my mothers mac the safari dosent work right the mail the mail wont open up certain emails saying the plugin is blocked etc

Could be many things, we should start with this...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair Disk, (not Repair Permissions). Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.
    If 10.7.0 or later...
Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partition & use Disk Utility from there to Repair the Disk, then Repair Permissions.
Open Console in Utilities & see if there are any clues or repeating messages when trying to open Mail or Safari.

    HELP!!!!

I was having very similar issues with both the iPhone 3GS, which I returned, and then when I updated my original iPhone to the 3.0 OS. It turns out that the problem (at least in mine and others case) is an unassigned dummy email account on the iPhone. On the settings icon open up mail, contacts, calender and look at the end of your list of e-mail accounts. The dummy account will have the word e-mail in the margin but the rest of the field is blank. Select this for the account information go to the end of the information field and delete it.
When I did this it completely resolved my battery life issue and the over heating in my original iPhone. The cause it is suggested is because of the dummy account, the iPhone goes into perpetual search mode because of all the missing information. I wish I had know this before returning the 3GS.
Hope it works for you and you can begin enjoying all the benefits of the new 3.0

  • How can i check my mails on the iphone and make sure that the mail wont pop up again on my computer ?

How can i check my mails on the iphone and make sure that the mail wont pop up again on my computer/ will be deleted on the server ?

For that kind of connectivity you need to be using an email account configured either as IMAP or Exchange.
IMAP & Exchange accounts will maintain a sync across all your devices, so if you read / delete a message on your phone, it will disappear from the server as well. This cannot happen in POP email accounts.
If your using gmail, instructions on how to set up exchange / imap are here http://www.google.com/support/mobile/bin/answer.py?answer=138740&topic=14252
Alternatively, if its anything other than Google, you will need to contact your email providor or IT department (if your email address resides with an enterprise environment) to get the correct settings.
    Hope this helps!

  • How do I make deleted gmail stay deleted? All of a sudden, everything I delete is there again when I open my email the next time.  I am opening it with the icon on the bar at the bottom of my screen.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • IMac G5 wont stay asleep

I have just recently restored my iMac and am having the same issue with sleeping as I did last christmas when I got it; It wont stay asleep! I called AppleCare last year and they had me delete some com.autowake. something something in the system folder and I don't remember what it was. Since I don't have AppleCare anymore, I don't know what to do.
Does anyone know how to correct this?

I called AppleCare last year and they had me delete some com.autowake. something something in the system folder and I don't remember what it was.
It was probably the file com.apple.autowake.plist in the folder /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/.
