My mail would not open anymore

My mail program suddenly went down and would not open anymore. Any ideas to open it?

Hit '''Ctrl R''' on your keyboard. This will bring up Run. Type '''taskmgr.exe'''. Find the processes tab. Locate '''firefox.exe''' and end the process. This should allow Firefox to run. If you find the problem continues:

I have removed a lot of sent messages(8000>3000) and my sent folder will not open anymore.
For a couple of times I opened my Thunderbird but no respons.
The cursor is still turning cirkels.
What can you suggest?

If it is an IMAP account you might have to wait for an update/synchronization of your actions on the server.

Mail will not open anymore

I am having a problem with mail. Mail opened fine on 10.6.1 until I had to restore my computer using time machine. Now when I open mail I get the error: You can't use this version of Mail with this version of Mac OS X. You have Mail version 4.0 (1075/1076). It can't be used on Mac OS X Version 10.6.1 (Build 10B504).
So far these are the things I have done with no avail.
- restored the computer again, but to a different time point.
- delete the com.apple.mail.plist, restart the computer, and try opening mail again.
- using time machine to bring back an old .plist and a old copy of mail.
- deleting mail and using the Snow Leopard DVD to install it again.
I can't think of any other thing to try doing. Someone please help as Mail is my default mail client and I can't live without it.

Did you reinstall the Snow Leopard 10.6.1 update? If not, you should do that, and Repair Permissions after it restarts, before you try to restart Mail. Also, where are you trying to launch Mail from: the Dock or the /Application directory? If the former, try dragging the icon for Mail out of the Dock, then go to /Applications and select Mail and drag it's icon back to the Dock and try launching it again.

I try to open mail this morning and message pop up and suggest to reinstall osx. I have mountaim lion laterst version on Imac 27". Anybody has solution without reinstalling osx?

Have you copied the Mail application to the Desktop or anywhere other than the Applications folder? If you have, delete the copy and use the original in the the Applications folder. Otherwise, back up all data and follow the instruction in the message.

My LR crashed the other day,frozen,I had to force quit it. Since then,it would not open anymore.

2 things.. look in the Lightroom Catalog folder and delete the file ending in .lock and try again.
Reinstall from the trial download. Your registration should still be intact independent of the reinstall.

After installing Mavericks on an imac, Mail would not sync with my Google Apps email account. After I clicked on All Mail the program crashed and now it crashes every time I open Mail. Does anyone have an suggestions?

Try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. If Back-to-My Mac is selected in System Preferences, the Guest account will not work. The intent is to see if it is specific to one account or a system wide problem. This account can be deleted later.
Isolating an issue by using another user account
If the problem is still there, try booting into the Safe Mode using your normal account. Disconnect all peripherals except those needed for the test. Shut down the computer and then power it back up. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. When you reboot normally, the initial reboot may be slower than normal. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application un-installer. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once.

Fellow user Grant Bennet-Alder offers this solution:
Some users have reported this problem if the Mail Application has been moved out of the top-level /Applications folder, or duplicated in another location.
When the Security Update is done, the old version of Mail is disabled.
The solution has been to:
1) make certain Mail is in the /Applications folder
2) There is no other copy anywhere else.
3) Once steps 1 and 2 have been done, Manually download and re-apply the Security Update (2012-004) by hand.

In trying to open jpegs to examine, I now receive a message stating "The application preview is not open anymore". I can't see my images. Whats the problem here. This is a brand new 27inch iMac.

IMHO the free apps are a band aid fix. If the OP uses Office on a regular basis he will need to upgrade anyway. Personally I have used neooffice and found it substandard however that was just my take. I haven't tried Google's solution.
We both forgot to mention the OP could also use Pages and Numbers to open their Word and Excel files. If he uses Entourage then Mail and iCal would be viable substitutes.

iWork '09 is $19 on Amazon. I would jump on that option. You won't miss iWork'08.

Also, for the other people that may have similar problems and are viewing this forum, definitely try this out. Listen to Jim's advice, don't use the most recent version (which is currectly 5.5.47) - instead try a slightly older one. The one I had installed was version 5.5.24.

VI does not open anymore

I have been working on a VI for a few Months not and it does not open anymore. The last change I did was on a Mixed signal graph
and now when I try to open the VI LabVIEW freezes at the welcome screen. Any ideas on how to recover this VI will save tons of work.
