My mailprogram in OS 10.6.7 frequently gives on old content/mail connected to an actual / new sender.

This sounds like an indexing problem.  Force a reindexing by deleting the Envelope Index. With IMAP or Exchange account, forcing reindexing requires removing the account folder. See:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mail/4.0/en/14019.html
Ask any questions needed to get comfortable with doing this.  Do you have any third party plugins or Mail enhancement apps that might be moving stuff around?  This would not be good for the index.  Rebuild on an IMAP account, where local copies of messages are kept may not be as clean as it would for POP and On My Mac mailboxes.

  • My HP Photosmart Premium C309g-m printer frequently gives me false "low ink" readings

My HP Photosmart Premium C309g-m printer frequently gives me false "low ink" readings, which wouldn't be a big deal except that unlike other printers I've had, instead of just printing as best it can on low ink, it refuses to print at all.
I know the readings are false:
    (a) because I've only recently refilled the ink - (since this started I write down when I refilled the ink and note the number of print jobs, which can be as low as 10 and the false readings can occur) and
    (b) my only work around so far is to turn the printer off and on until the false readings stop, it then shows the correct ink levels and does print, but his can often take 5 or 6 times of "off and on." Very annoying.
    Questions:
    Has anyone else experienced this?
If so, is there a fix?
If no fix, is there a way to change the printer default configuration so it will print anyway -with low ink - instead of simply refusing to print?
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thank you

Maybe there is some ink on the connections to the cartridges. This document may help with checking those areas after you installed new cartridges last time:

  • I frequently receive a notice from Mail that it "can't connect" to my yahoo mail account, despite the fact that I can receive mail from that account. The banner appears with my coded password highlighted and asks me to choose 'cancel' or 'ok'.

I frequently receive a notice from Mail that it 'can't connect' to my Yahoo account despite the fact that I am able to receive mail from that account. It appears with the name of my Yahoo account, my password (coded), and the choice to 'cancel' or 'ok'. If I click either, the banner goes away but comes back soon. I can open Mail and see that all accounts are online. I get the banner SEVERAL time during a session - very annoying!
I have several accounts, but this only happens with Yahoo and sometimes Hotmail. Can anyone tell me how to resolve this Mail issue?
    Thanks.

I have 5 IMAP and 1 POP (Hotmail).
    The Yahoo is IMAP.

  • Firefox 4 frequently gives message "Firefox is nnot working" and needs restart

I have been using all the beta releases of Firefox 4, but with the final version I frequently receive the message "Firefox is not working," usually when I have it minimized or am otherwise not actively using it. I did not have this problem before the final release. I am running Windows 7 Home Premium with 4 GB RAM. It does not give me a place to file a crash report. So far I can tell, my Firefox installation and all add-ons u to date and compatible with Firefox 4.

    See "Hang at exit":

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
    See:
    * [[Basic Troubleshooting#Make_a_new_profile|Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile]]
There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins"
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile (be careful not to copy corrupted files)

  • My Firefox crashes frequently, but I the system can not find the reports to send for analysis.

My Firefox crashes frequently, The system goes to the grayed screen and sits there until I try to close it, then it says "Firefox not responding" and I close the program. When I go to "about:crashes" it says the report was submitted, but I never get any feedback and when I try to retrieve the report to look at it, the system can never find it. This happens at least twice daily. It keeps searching for a while, then displays the gratituous "Oh Noes. The report could not be located" message. I've included the latest crash report address.

Firefox 4 requires at least OS X 10.5. You can get the latest version of Firefox 3.6 from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
Mozilla are working to prevent Mac users with non-compatible systems from getting the notification about Firefox 4, and also not displaying the "Download Firefox 4" button on http://www.mozilla.com

  • How can I disable an frequent update of chart contents?

    Hello,
I have a vi with a xy graph (x = time) and lots of data in there (aprox. 6000 values).
I do not update the values very often, maybe once in a second, to not to stress the cpu too much, but I have noticed, that the chart updates much more often and that causes a high cpu load. If I cover the VI with another window druing run time, the cpu load drops to almost 0.
Can I set how often a chart updates? Where?

Oh, I just found out, that my problem comes from somewhere else.
I set the xscale minimum and maximum every cycle according to the current time. If I reduce this xscale updates, the cpu time drops drastically :-)

  • Several websites that I frequent require me to right-click to open to a new tab, otherwise they aren't completely visable

This just occurred with a new website and I am now unable to close it. It just remains partially behind another tab/window.

Thank you, I know shortcuts are always an option but I was hoping for a more... automatic? solution. I've resorted to forcing links to new tabs that are "to other sites." It has solved my immediate problem, but still is a bit screwy.
Thank you for the help, though. :]

  • Icloud emails not working in fact rubbish

Are any body else having problems with icloud emails on their macs? To be honest since the change over from mobileme the icloud setup is pants. I rarely had problems with mobileme and it offered so much more ie websites through iweb and picture galleries. Today I have been unable to send a message, it keeps crashing. In the end gave up. A few months ago my mac email account removed itself from my mail programme, when the icloud system was put in place. For me icloud is a retrograde step and far inferior from previous systems. Thoughts?

I use an imac intel with operating system 10.6.8. I only access my emails using the web as the mail on my mac removed my mac (mobileme/icloud) account when moving to the new system. I access icloud on my mac and PC at work using the web. Both routinely give me problems far more frequently than the old mobileme mail, often logging me out being very slow and not responding. Basically fed up with it at the moment. It also seems to occur at the same time of the day, using the work PC going offline around 11am to 2pm. So I kind of feel that the problem is icloud. But very much open to ideas and suggestions. Many thanks

  • Mac OS X Lion Server screen freezes frequently

I have recently purchased the Mac Mini Server with 8GB RAM Upgrade and have been experiencing screen freezes frequently. The Mac Mini is connected to a ViewSonic LED Monitor via an HDMI cable and is running Mac OS X Lion Server.
It all started a month ago and I suspected it was due to an external hard disk I had. When I removed it the problem didn't crop up for a few weeks. So I thought the issue was resolved.
Over the past week the problem re-surfaced again and nearly everyday I am experiencing screen freezing about five times a day and the only option is to power down my Mac Mini Server from the power button. This is becoming increasingly frustrating. When screen freezing occurs, everything freezes and I get some small rectangular boxes on screen moving.
The only things that have changed over the past week was that I installed the latest Safari fix and connected the Harman Kardon Sounsticks II to the Mac Mini.
Can't understand what is happening. From various threads I read, many mac users are experiencing screen freezes. If anyone has any resolutions please let me know.

Lion has a screen refresh bug it is just the screen going to sleep and the the screen updating only where the curser moves.

  • TCP connection for DHCP failover frequently are broken in Solaris 10

    Hi
We have two dhcp servers which are installed in Solaris 10 and set to a failover pair. Currently, we can find that tcp connection for dhcp failover protocol are frequently broken. It looks like that primary dhcp server initiatively send FIN message to secondary one but in general, this tcp connection should always keep alive. On the other hand, the tcp connection can not completely be closed right now which FIN_WAIT_2 status in Primary one and CLOSE_WAIT status in secondary would last for a long time.
Will Solaris 10 cause this fault? Is it a known bug in OS?

Thanks, but had found a previous discussion with this hint and applied it.
svccfg -s sendmail listprop shows config /local_only = false
Yes, I would really love to fix the fault, but what I would really like is some hints as to how to debug ports under svc control.

  • Frequent c2s failures

    Hi,
    BM3.9sp2ir1
    NW6.5sp8(with post sp8 patches through April 17,2010)
    eDir8.8sp4
We frequently are having problems with clients connecting to our system.
Most using the bm3xvpn12 client with NMAS.
Often have to try multiple times to get connected, sometimes restart the computer, sometimes it just doesn't want to work, but sometimes it will work just fine.
No rhyme or reason that I can find, same user and system will work and then not work. Though those with problems frequently have the problem.
When some have problems, others will be connected just fine, so it isn't just that the server is refusing to accept connections.
the last item shown before it times out on the IKE screen is:
IKE : Nmas user check authentication and traffic rule.
Client sits at the negotiating and authentication message for several minutes then fails with:
may be Invalid VPN Server or IKE not loaded.
No problems at all if I unload the filters, consistently get a VPN connection in under 15seconds.
Is this a possible filter issue?
I have run brdcfg to see that they are all applied. I only do filter work in Filtcfg, never in iManager.
I've run wireshark on the client side and have good and bad captures. everything seems to match up ok until it is in the port 500/4500 sections.
    good:
2 cycles of port 500 communications, then switches to 4500 Wireshark Info column says: "Identity Protection (main mode)"
3 sends on 4500, then 3 receives on 4500 Wireshark Info column says: "Identity Protection (main mode)"
and then a send/receive/send on 4500 Wireshark info column says: "Quick Mode"
and then switches to UDP 353 ndsauth
    and connected on the VPN.
    bad:
2 cycles of port 500 communications, then switches to 4500 Wireshark Info column says: "Identity Protection (main mode)"
3 sends on 4500 Wireshark Info column says: "Identity Protection (main mode)"
    NO reply from VPN server
3 sends on 500 Wireshark Info column says: "Identity Protection (main mode)"
    No reply from VPN server
1 send on 4500 protocal UDPENCAP wireshare info column says NAT-keepalive
1 send on 500 Wireshark Info column says: "Identity Protection (main mode)"
4 replies on 4500 Wireshark Info column says: "Identity Protection (main mode)"
1 reply on 500 Wireshark Info column says: "Identity Protection (main mode)"
Then client sends on 500 to 4500 Wireshark Info column says: Informational
then back and forth port 500 sends show Informational, replies Identity Protection.
we also have similar problems connecting to another BM server in the same tree (different location)

Ok, spoke too soon. just happened to work a couple times.
Server has read-only replicas of everything, plus is master of its own partition.
Turned on NMAS in DSTrace, any other options I should turn on when tracing? I don't see any SLP or NCP addresses.
In a failure, the trace is identical to a success, except that it appears the client doesn't recognize the success message.
Though there is a error in the traces: (both success and failure)

  • Best Solutions For Offline Address Book on Workstations Not Updating Frequently Enough?

We use Exchange 2010 SP2 and we set Outlook 2010 to Exchange Cached mode by default for all workstations.  This seems to work OK for the majority of email most of the time, but because we are very frequently adding and removing external mail contacts
and and adding and removing them from distribution lists, the GAL and  distribution lists memberships are frequently out of date in the middle of the work day.
Sometimes the users can manually download an updated OAB assuming it has been updated on the server, but sometimes the OAB is not updated yet and redownloading the OAB solves nothing.  It is a lot of hassle, confusion  about bounced messages and
missing contacts and phantom names in distribution lists with this method.
I notice that for mail contacts, there is an All Contacts address book that is live, but it does not include include anything else other than contact addresses.  Distribution List memberships are still out of date until the OAB is updated on the server
and then downloaded to the Outlook client.  This is taking too long.
Is there a keyboard shortcut to force the client to do a GAL address lookup in online mode rather than using the cached OAB?
Can Outlook display both an online and offline address book for the GAL and let the user manually select online version of the GAL if a contact or new mailbox or DL has not synced to the OAB yet?
If we set the registry key to force online address books even when Outlook is in cached Exchange mode, is there any performance downside for PCs on the LAN other than the GAL being unavailable when the network is not available?
Would the Exchange server have a significantly higher load if most PCs were accessing the GAL without an OAB cache?
If we should not expect a significant increase in server load or network traffic, we might set desktops to use online access to the GAL and only laptops to use OAB.

    Hi,
If users are accessing the GAL without OAB cache, definitely it will increase in server load and network traffic. If you are in cached mode, one suggestion is to define that in Send/Receive Settings:
Go to Send/Receive Groups -> Define Send/Receive Groups
-> Select the account and Edit -> Select
Include the selected account in this group, and check Download offline address book -> Click
OK -> Go back to Send/Receive Groups, select the frequency for automatic send/receive(Schedule an automatic send/receive every x minutes.), and then close.
I hope this setting can help in your scenario.
