My main computer synced to android fine. I then added my laptop and my main computer synced to the laptop, losing all main computer data - why?
Surely this sync is the wrong way round, so why/how did that happen?
I have other lap tops to add, but I want them to sync to my main computer, NOT the other way round!
I now need to restore my tabs from my Samsung Galaxy note 2. How can I do this?
Thanks,
Gary
Did you delete the files and folder after sync?

My computer was reimaged and iTunes was deleted, now when I try to sync my ipad it says it is synced with another library? How do I sync with the newly installed iTunes without losing all of my data on my ipad?
Copy all the content on your iPod back to your PC and into iTunes. Then go ahead and sync the iPod with your new library.
See this older post from another forum member Zevoneer covering the different methods and software available to assist you with the task of copying content from your iPod back to your PC and into iTunes.

my laptop had a virus and I am trying to sync my IPHONE 4 to my desktop, how can I sync my phone without losing all my music, apps and contacts?
You are talking about the menu bar of Itunes, right?
Yes. With iTunes open the menu bar is at the top of your screen.
where exactly is the Store/synck you iphone option?
After you authorize the computer connect your iPhone then follow the instructions here > iOS: How to transfer or sync content to your computer
When you are done transferring the data to the desktop, right or control click the iPhone under Devices left side of the iTunes window then click Back Up.
That way you will have a backup just in case you need to restore your iPhone. -
I recently replaced the hard drive in my computer. I am afraid to download and reinstall itunes again because I worry about losing all the music I had on my iPod Nano. Any suggestions for solutions?
The dragging does not work:
- Transfer iTunes purchases by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer
- For other music you will need a third-party program like one of those discused here:
Copy music
- Connect the iPod to your compouter and make a backup by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up.
- Restore the iPod from that backup
Nothe that the backup that iTunees makes does not include synced media like apps nd music. -
I have been asked to set up an Icloud account by Apple.
How will having another icloud email benefit me. I have my work email which is all i require, but had to set up a @me account to get email on my Macbook.
I have a Mac computer that i upgraded to Mountain lion, a macbook pro and an iPhone 4s which has the latest software. all i want is simplicity and to have one email account which which will not duplicate everything 4 or 5 times.
My notes are duplicated, i have to delete my emails individually on all devices so whenever i put my phone on, all the emails i have deleted at work re-appear on my phone and again the same thing happens on my Macbook pro. I seem to spend all my time deleting emails 3 times.
Is there something simple in the set up of these that i am missing?
Any help would be appreciatedI have been asked to set up an Icloud account by Apple.

HELP!! i have a ton of videos of my boys stored in iPhoto..They played fine on my old OSX system (leopard). However, I just upgraded to snow leopard and then to mountain lion and now i can't open my videos at all anymore. HELP!!
Can you tell us about one or more of the video files - what are they? QuickTime? MP4? Something else? How did you create the video files in the first place?
I do a lot of video and when I upgraded to Snow Leopard I discovered that many of the QT videos that I had created previously (via iMovie & Final Cut) would not play correctly in QuickTime X - the bizarre behavior was that QT X acted as if my video files were only audio files! I reported this to Apple at the time but never heard anything back, and there hasn't been any change in later updates to QT X.
The solution was to (re)install QuickTime 7. But first look in your Applications > Utilities folder. When you upgrade from Leopard to Snow Leopard, the installer normally moves the old QT 7 program to your Utilities folder. If it's there, try using QT 7 to play one of your video files. If QT 7 is not there, you can download and install it from here Make sure you are running at least OS X 10.6.3 before you install QT 7. It's even better if you make sure you are running 10.6.8 which was the last release of Snow Leopard. -

My computer crashed. I now have a new one and I need to know how to sync my iPad without losing the photos, contacts, podcasts, apps, etc I have on my iPad. Can anyone help?
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Some items cannot be redownloaded. You will need third-party software for them - Phone to Mac - Pod to Mac | Macroplant.com or Phone to PC | macroplant.com depending on your hardware.
You might consider modifying your profile information so we will know what your hardware, OS, etc. is. Makes it easier to provided assistance. -
How can i sync my iphone to a new itunes without losing all my iphone data??? HELP
i need help , recently my laptops hard drive broke so i bought a new laptop so i needed to download a new itunes .... how can i put all my data from my iphone back onto itunes ? music, contacts, apps etc.. i heard that u cant and i would need to clear my phone entirely ?! can someone help wityh this please ???? i dont want to lose any of my iphone data ... eve if i cant put it on my itunes can i still keep it on my iphone without losing any data syncing ????
thanx , barry in irelandSyncing to a new iTunes library or computer will erase your phone. Only if you back up your phone manually before syncing, you can restore your phone from that backup again. A manual backup does not include the sync process.
Set up your iTunes account, disable autosync in iTunes, connect your phone to your new computer and right click on it in the device list and choose backup. iTunes will backup your phone without syncing.
Transfer your purchases the same way, choosing "transfer purchases" this time.
When you connect your phone for the first time, all media content will be erased. But you can restore your settings and app data from your manual backup afterwards.
Don't forget to set up at least one contact and event on your new computer to be able to merge calendars and contacts when you sync the phone for the first time.
Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in itunes and transferred your purchases.
There is 3rd party software out there, but not supported by Apple, see this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2013615&tstart=0

Syncing Problems - Worried about losing all my data
Wife and I each have an iphone 3GS running latest version of iTunes in 10.5.8. Never had syncing problems previously. We haven't synced for a month. Tonight, I plug my wife's in and it asks to update software. I proceed and then after it tries, it says there was a problem updating software. I don't have time to problem shoot, so I sync hers and then plug mine in.
When I plug mine in, instead of recognizing my phone and all its content, it says an iphone has previously been synced with this computer and asks if I want to restore from back up or format (not the word they use, but can't remember) it as a new iphone. So, if I format it, I lose all my info and if I restore from a back up, I lose all the calendar entries I've made and applications I've purchased since the last sync which was a month ago.
Why is it not recognizing my phone as current? What can I do?
I tried resetting the phone. I don't want to do anything else that's going to make me lose all my updates from the past month. Please help!
Thanks! If there is any data left on the phone you didn't back up on your mac, try to do a manual backup. Disable autosync in itunes, connect your phone, right click on it in the device list and choose "Backup"
See what the backup contains here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
Transfer your purchases the same way.
If your phone is not recognized, try to connect in recovery mode: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808 -
Itunes will have me erase my phone before I can sync it. How do I keep from losing all of my content (apps, app configs, settings, accounts, notes, voice memos, pictures, songs etc.) Do I need to use iCloud to back it up? If so, I'd rather not spend money on more iCloud space.
Thanks. So you've never synced with iTunes before? Or are you syncing to a new computer?
if the latter take a look at this doc http://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3141 -
i bought a new computer and would like to use it for my existing iphone. the iphone is registered on my boyfriends computer as of now. i dont want to lose all of my data in the process. how would i go about doing this?
Copy the iTunes library from your boyfriend's computer to your computer. Then when you sync you won't lose anything.

I RECENTLY BOUGHT A NEW COMPUTER BECAUSE MY OLD ONE BROKE AND ALL ITS CONTENT GOT WIPE OUT..NOW MY PROBLEM IS I CANT CONNECT MY IPOD TOUCH TO MY COMPUTER CAUSE IM AFFRAID THAT ITUNES MIGHT WIPE OUT ALL MY APPS AND MUSIC. BUT I HAVE IMPORTANT VIDEOS THERE THAT I REALLY NEED TO TRANSFER TO MY COMPUTER..HELP PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEE.THANKS!♥♥♥
- Authorize the computer for the account used on the iPod. Then connect the iPod to the computer and transfer iTunes purchases to the new computer:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
- Transfer other music by using a third-party program like one of thos discussed here.
Best iPod to PC
- Make a backup of the iPod by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Backup. The backup will contain all the photos and video that were taken by the iPod that are still on the iPod.
- Retore the iPod from that backup. -
I previously had 1&1.com hosting my email addresses ([email protected] & [email protected]) and I recently switched to Weebly/Gmail to host these email addresses...
I enabled IMAP forwarding in gmail (which in hinesight I think I should have selected POP) and when I updated my server settings in Thunderbird - all of my old emails disappeared. Theses emails are for business and I may have dramatically hurt our business by doing this.
Are emails backed up anywhere where I can restore from? I do have the option selected to store all emails on my local computer - please help :)With IMAP all mail is managed on the server. By simply changing the server of an existing account you virtually start from scratch. I.e. the new server knows nothing about the mail on the old server.
What you see in Thunderbird is basically a mirror of what's on the server.
What you should have done is moving messages off of the old server to your Local Folders account.
Alternatively you could have created a new account with the same email address on the new server.
The Thunderbird IMAP synchronization option basically is a local offline copy of what's on the server. The offline copy got wiped out when you connected to the new server. It isn't an equivalent for a proper backup of your messages.
I don't know if you still have access to the old server. If not, then you can only restore a backup of your profile folder, assuming you've created one at some point.
It is grossly negligent not to backup your business email. -
I recently got a new computer, but it won't let me sync my iPhone 3Gs to it. When i click sync, it only sync's what i bought on my phone, not what i had bought on my old laptop and uploaded onto my iPhone. It also says that my computer is unauthorised, i have tried authorising it many times, and unauthorising my laptop. This also means that i cannot get files from my new CP onto me iPhone. Help please
"When i click sync, it only sync's what i bought on my phone, not what i had bought on my old laptop and uploaded onto my iPhone."
That is correct . The sync is one way - computer to iphone. The only exception is itunes purchases.
You need to copy everything from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer, to your new one.
