My main inbox appears to be archive mail

my main mailbox is now archiev mail

Allan,
Thanks for your response.  Not sure then what this means, the emails I am sending are not showing up in the user accounts that I am sending them to, not in spam or junk or anything?  There is nothing in the email that I am sending that is different than what I am able to send on the other account on the iphone.  By the way, it was working before, I have confirmed receipt of emails from this account from the iphone in the recent past (no sw upgrades in the meantime).
Regards,
John

  • Every email in inbox opens when I enter mail

My boss uses Apple mail. Every time he clicks on mail to enter the program, EVERY email in his inbox opens (hundreds) all over the desktop. This never happened before, and we don't know what caused the problem. Is there a setting we're missing? He simply wants to look at the inbox and click on emails ONE at a time, and have them open ONE at a time. Thanks. (I use Entourage so I don't have a working knowledge.)

I don't fully understand what are you talking about, but I believe holding the Shift key down until the main window appears when you open Mail would fix your problem.

After upgrading to Snow Leopard, Mail will not let me archive any mail. All archived messages re-appear in my inbox (I have tried archiving and placing in the trash bin). How do i regain control of my inbox?

The main differences that can cause a problem are scripting additions (64-bit vs 32-bit and security reasons) and the usage of dates (it is not as forgiving). AppleScript itself is basically the same, so if empty paragraphs are what caused your problems the update would have just been a coincidence.

  • Why is my new mail going to an "Inbox" folder in the Archive folder?

I've discovered that my new mail is now longer going to the regular Inbox. It's now landing in a new "Inbox" folder in the Archive folder. Why? How can I reset this back to the regular new mail inbox?
I tried renaming the folder in the directory but mail still is defaulting there. I've check to make sure I don't have a filter to do this, no filter for this account.

Use C:\YourWebSite (where C: is your hard drive).

  • How can I set up a rule to delete all messages older than 6 months left in Apple Mail's main inbox?

How can I set up a rule to delete all messages older than 6 months left in Apple Mail's main inbox?
I have created other rules to move some of my daily messages into specific folders and I don't wish to auto-delete those.
Just the general stuff that keeps piling up in my me.com main email box.  Mail such as FB announcements and other low priority stuff I want to look at before deleting but don't want to keep longer than a week or month.
    TIA
    thokitts

Thanks, but I am looking for a more automated solution than hand marking emails as junk. I might as well move them to the trash myself.
Again, these are emails I want to receive and quickly read, but not keep longer than a week or month or so. By setting a rule to toss any older than 30 days back then my Mail program (and thus my hard drive) won't be wasting so much space. For example, currently I have over 6000 read messages, with their attachments, in my main email box. I'd rather not have to physically attend to sorting the one I don't want out.
The one I do keep for other reasons get moved into other folders.
It seems this should be possible.

  • HT1277 only my hotmail inbox appears in Mail.  How do I get my file folders to come over?

only my hotmail inbox appears in Mail.  How do I get my file folders to come over?

It sounds as though you have set Mail up in POP mode. POP only sees and downloads from the server Inbox.
To see or download any other server folders you need to set it up in IMAP mode.
    Good luck.

  • How can I see my messages again? Messages in my Inbox are there but invisible...the Inbox appears empty (but isn't)

All Inbox emails can't be seen but can be opened by a right click and 'Open Message in New Tab'.
The Inbox appears blank but if clicked on then the shaded bar of an e-mail appears so they are all there. I've several Inboxes (this is my main and most important) and they seem unaffected.
Moving an e-mail elsewhere takes its invisibility with it! Other folder contents show up.
The Repair Folder in Properties seems to have no effect.

And attached is a screen grab showing selected e-mails in the Inbox...the white space below are e-mails too!

    I'm working in AppleScript Editor v2.6.1 (152.1), Microsoft Outlook 2011 v14.3.5, OSX 10.9.4 Mavericks.

Ok, red_menace above me had a shorter and more elegant solution to the question, I'm adding this just for another example.
To solve your problem I'd make a mail rule that looked for any messages with "Filename:" in them (along with whatever criteria you wanted, like sender, domain, etc). The mail rule would execute the Applescript. My assumption is that the "Filename:foobar" text could be anywhere in the email, not necessarily the first thing in a paragraph, so I had to parse it differently.
The results end up in a datalist, (theFilename {} ) that you can parse later to collect all filenames found in whatever messages were processed.
I realize this could be cleaner, hope it's not hard to follow, but I did it really fast. It works flawlessly for me, picking out the name of the file no matter where in the email it appears.
    using terms from application "Mail"
on perform mail action with messages theSelectedMessages for rule theRule
repeat with aCounter from 1 to count theSelectedMessages
set theMessage to item aCounter of theSelectedMessages
set theContent to content of theMessage
set theWords to every word of theContent
    set theFilename to {}
set tid to AppleScript's text item delimiters
set AppleScript's text item delimiters to ":"
    repeat with thisLoop in theWords
    try
if (text item 1 of thisLoop) is "Filename" then
set end of theFilename to (text item 2 of thisLoop)
-- rest of your logic goes here the display is just to show it finds the filename, take it out!
    display dialog theFilename ¬

  • How do I add an archive Mail folder

The help file on organizing mail tells me to go to the mailbox screen and hit Edit.  There is no edit button on that screen.  I want to add a folder to save or archive mail messages as a local file, not take up room on the server.

Tap the back arrow that saysMailboxes until there is no back arrow just a title saying Mailboxes. You should see two sections under it, one that says Inboxes and another one that says Accounts. Under the Accounts you should see a list of your mail accounts (if you have more than one), select the account you want to add the folder to and it will take you to the lists of folders for that account. Inbox, Drafts, Trash... At the top you will see the Edit button that will allow you to add a folder.

  • Outlook 2013 Won't Display My Archived Mail PST Files

    Hi there,
I have recently upgraded to Outlook 2013 from 2010. I have archived mail in PST files going back many years. I managed to open the first one I tried (Outlook 2003 archive) but noticed it wouldn't display sent items on a common search. I then clicked on the
name bar to sort by name and it did do it. Later when I went back in it wouldn't display any sent items; it just has the "thinking" dots moving at the top. I left it for 3 hours but nothing. I then closed the archive and moved the PST file to my
C drive and tried again; nothing. I opened another PST file but still nothing shows.
Does anyone know what could be causing this? I'm thinking of going back to Outlook 2010 but would rather get 2013 to work properly.
    Regards
    Ross
    Ross Bevin

    Hi Ross,
From the description, the problem is that the archive.pst file you created in Outlook 2003 doesn't display anything when opened in Outlook 2013, right? If I've misunderstood something, would you please provide a screenshot so that we can understand this
    issue more clearly?
What's the file size of the PST file? It may cause unexpected problem if the file size exceed the limit. See:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/982577
In addition, we can try to use the Inbox Repair Tool to scan and repair the PST file to check if it helps:
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-in/outlook-help/repair-outlook-data-files-pst-and-ost-HA102749454.aspx?CTT=1
Please let me know the result.

  • Email names are appearing incorrectly in my mail

Email names are appearing incorrectly in my mail inbox.
The from names are incorrect or missing the full name, some from names have commas around them when others don't, some are coming through with 'test' in the subject line on my phone but if I view on my computer, 'test' is not showing..
I work in email marketing so this is extrmely important that the correct from names are displaying and certain text i.e 'test' are not showing on a live email sent to customers...

This seems to be a problem with Yahoo! that started within the past few days.  I am assuming that you are accessing your Yahoo! Mail through Safari.  Until a fix is issued, you have two options -- (1) use the Mail app included in iOS, logging in with your Yahoo! account information or (2) when in Yahoo! Mail in Safari, click on your profile name/pic in the bottom left corner, choose Options, and then choose the last option, which displays your e-mail using the older classic version of Yahoo! Mail.  It's not as pretty or easy to manuever around, but at least it shows the images in your e-mails, which is the most important thing.  Both Apple and Yahoo! have been contacted about this issue, so hopefully a fix will be released soon.

  • Help locating archived mail!

I archived some old mail that I wanted to save but now I cannot locate it.  I watched some tutorials but the archive folder shown in the left panel of mail doesn't exist for me.  Where is my archived mail?  I am running Lion.

I actually found it myself.  Way down at the bottom of the left mail panel, there are some ghost/grayed-out mailbox names. (gmail, etc).  If you hover on the right of the bar, the word "show" will appear.  click this and the archived mail for each account will appear.

  • Whenever I access my Hotmail inbox to open a new mail it starts reloading the mail after every second unless i switch it to full view?

whenever I access my Hotmail inbox to open a new mail it starts reloading the mail after every second unless i switch it to full view. Kindly help me to solve this continuous problem.

I confirm this is a known bug and Microsoft are working on a fix. They plan to fix this before Firefox 4 reaches release candidate phase.
A workaround is to change a preference in Firefox:
    # Type '''about:config''' into the location bar and press enter
    # Accept the warning message that appears, you will be taken to a list of preferences
    # Locate the preference '''html5.enable''' and double-click on it to change its value to '''false'''
If you do this, remember to set the preference back to true by double-clicking on it again when Firefox 4 release candidate is made available, the bug should be fixed by then.

  • Exchange email folders and sub-folders: iPhone only pulling main "inbox"

    Hello.
I've got iPhone set to access my Exchange email via IMAP. My work computer is an Win XP PRo, running Outlook 2007. My Outlook email folders are organized via rules that most important emails are automatically routed to specific folders (such as from a particular client or staff member).
My problem is The iPhone is only checking for mail in my main inbox. The only way I can get it to check for mail in my sub-folders is to click on the folder. This is a big problem, as I am missing notifications, and have over 35 subfolders!
I've tried and tried to find a setting I can change, or something...but cannot. Does anyone have any recommendations either via iPhone settings or my Outlook rules settings?
    Thanks so much in advance!
    Sovi

Thanks for posting that thread. My problem is slightly different in that it won't pull the mail *at all* -- even to the inbox. The mail is only pulled if/when I click on the sub-folder. At that point, the mail goes go to the correct sub-folder.
For obvious reasons this is an issue -- I miss lots of mail!
I (we) can't be the only ones using sub-folders with this issue.

  • How do I access archived mail?

Please advise how I can check archived mail and mabe find something that was put in the trash a few months ago and I need!!!
    I do have a time machine but can't find a Mobileme/mail icon.
    THANK YOU!!!

If you put it in the trash, but never deleted the trash, it may still be in there.
Even if it has been deleted, if you've been using Time Machine, it should be easy to get back.
Launch Mail and make its main window the front window.  Select the mailbox where that deleted item existed.  Click on the Time Machine icon in the Dock, to go to the flying through space screen.
Note:  I noticed there was a bit of "lag" when I did this with the Mail window, for the first time.  If it seems unresponsive (or slow) initially, just wait a minute or so on that screen and responsiveness should improve.
Go "back in time," using the timeline on the right edge of screen, until you see the item that was deleted.  Select that item.  Click Restore.
