My MB Pro is no longer syncing my iPad in iTunes. It did in the beginning, however I had to change my MB Pro password. Now I get a permissions error message trying to sync: "error storing your authorization information on this computer." Can you help?

First I would just try deleting the SCInfo folder, restart your computer, open itunes and see if you are still getting the error, at that point if you are it is a permissions error with the computer specificaly and not in itunes.

that is for deleting the scinfo folder. scroll to the bottom of the article and the steps are there

It prevents me to sync my iPhone, how can I fix that?

De-authorize - repair permissions with Disk Utility - reboot you Mac - authorize your Mac.
    See if that helps.

  • I have preordered music and went to download it but i cannot do so as i get a error message stating that my iphone is assosiated with another apple ID? can you help with this?

    Hello,
I have pre-orded some music and i ahve gone to downlaod them today but my phone is stating that it is associated with another Apple ID and have to wait 49 days.
Can someone please assist with this as i want my purchases.

    Hi Jaycott24,
If you are using multiple Apple IDs, there are limits on how often a device can change associations for things like downloading purchases (which is slightly different from authorization for things like playback). You may find the following article helpful:

  • ITunes Error "There was an error storing your authorization information ...

I cannot play music downloaded from itunes. I have a dell computer with Windows XP Media with 4 users set up. One user has an itunes library that we downloaded music from itunes and got the following messages when trying to access the song.
    1. open itunes and click on purchased song
    2. the authorize computer pop-up window says this computer is not authorized to play "my doorbell", would you like to authorize it?
    3. I enter the name and password and click authorize.
    4. itunes tells me you have authorized 1 out of 5 machines.
    5. I click ok and another pop-up box tells me "There was an error storing your authorization information on this computer. The required file was not found or has permission errors. Correct the permission problem and try again or deauthorize this computer if the permissions cannot be changed."
I followed the suggestions from a 3/21/06 posting on this matter, to the best of my ability, to no avail.
I've uninstalled itunes, run my disk cleanup utility to remove all unnecessary files (hoping to remove any orphan files) and re-installed itunes which did nothing. the 3/21 posting said to delete the library itl file and imported the library xml file (again). I am not sure what that means so I did not take this step.
    Any help would be appreciated.-lpo

  • There was an error storing your authorization information...

With iTunes 5 I went to the music store and tried to double-click a song just to hear a preview (Black Eyed Peas, Let's Get it Started). I was asked to authorize my computer, it said I had authorized 4 of 5 correctly (I have only 2 machines using it, but whatever) and then I got this error:
"There was an error storing your authorization information on this computer.
The requested directory was not found or there was a permissions error. Correct this permissions problem and try again, or deauthorize this computer if the permissions cannot be changed."
I'm on Windows, with admin access, so it's not a permissions problem. I checked the Apple Computer folder in my Documents and Settings\Application Data folder, and I have write permissions there. I deauthorized this computer, but it gave me the exact same error.
In the knowledge base there is a fix for Macs, but nothing listed for PCs. I had no problems using the store with iTunes 4.9, this is a new problem for me with 5.0. So, until there's a fix, no ITMS purchases for me!

I'm having this problem as well. I'm dissapointed it's so hard to find information on the subject.
One of the things I guessed might have bee a problem is that my music files are on a file server on the network but when I changed the iTunes music folder location back to my local drive, I still hade the problem.
Another non-standard setup I have is a recent HD change. I copied my partitions to a new drive via PQ Partition Magic. I've had no problems with any other app, but I can't help but wonder if iTunes stores some kind of invisible autorization information in a hidden section of the partition that it can no longer access.
In any case, a word from the fine folks at Apple would sure help. What do you guys have to say?

    Authorization and Deauthorization
Macs:  iTunes Store- About authorization and deauthorization.
Windows: How to Authorize or Deauthorize iTunes | PCWorld.
In iTunes you use the Authorize This Computer or De-authorize This Computer option under the Store menu in iTunes' menubar. For Windows use the ALT-S keys to access it. Or turn on Windows 7 and 8 iTunes menus: iTunes- Turning on iTunes menus in Windows 8 and 7.
More On De-authorizing Computers (contributed by user John Galt)
You can de-authorize individual computers, but only by using those computers. The only other option is to "de-authorize all" from your iTunes account.
      1. Open iTunes on a computer
      2. From the Store menu, select "View my Account..."
      3. Sign in with your Apple ID and password.
      4. Under "Computer Authorizations" select "De-authorize All".
      5. Authorize each computer you still have, as you may require.
You may only do this once per year.
After you "de-authorize all" your authorized computers, re-authorize each one as required.
If you have de-authorized all computers and need to do it again, but your year has not elapsed, then contact: Apple - Support - iTunes - Contact Us.

  • Help!  Am getting error messages trying to sync

I have an iPhone 3G that was running fine until I updated the software to 4.2.1 about a month ago.  Everything has slowed down and some apps have started crashing when they didn't before.  However, the main problem now, as of a few days ago, is syncing.  The first error message I get is:
"iTunes could not back up the iPhone "iPhone" because a session could not be started with the iPhone."
I then click "okay" and immediately get a 2nd error message saying:
"iTunes could not sync information to the iPhone "iPhone" because another sync session was alreay running."
There was no other session running and I have tried not only closing iTunes and restarting, but rebooting my computer.  Messages still appear each time I try to sync.
I would really appreciate any guidance on this as Apple Care has now expired as my phone is 2.5 years old (purchased in Europe legally unlocked for about $900 -- so I'd rather wait it out until iPhone 5).
    Thank you.

I think I recall another poster on the forum saying that they were getting this error when they tried to sync music that was corrupted in some way. In that case, they used something called "MP3Diags" to search for and repair music files that had problems.
To test this, try syncing a smaller set of music.. just just one album ... and see if you get the same error.
