My MBP has already depreciated $300!

The Apple Store http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/wo/15.RSLID?mco= E60A57E5&nclm=SpecialDeals is selling 1.83mhz MBPs refurburshed for only $1699 with free shipping in 2-3 days. I waited a month for mine and have recently become aware that I'm infected with the infamous whine, although I hadn't really noticed it at first (well, maybe it's just starting to get to me). That means if I send it back for repair, I'll end up with one of those refurbs, but I'll have paid full price.
We are NOT amused!

1) No, you wont get one of those refurbs. Apple doesn't replace laptop repair units with refurbs. They only do that with iPods. You will get your machine back. They probably wouldn't even exchange for a refurb if you begged.
2) Apple has to do something with the returned MBPs. You don't expect them to eat them do you? $1699 is $100 less than Edu pricing on a new unit. That is similar savings compared to other Apple refurb products.
3) No one forced you to buy one of the first MBPs off the production line.
4) Did you really expect your MBP to hold it's value? I guarantee you if you tried to sell your MBP on Ebay for $1800 today you would probably get it. Even if Apple didn't have refurbs available, you were not getting $2000 for your used machine. BTW do you realize when you drive a new car off the lot it instantly depreciates 20%. Now that is some depreciation. Do you complain on the various car forums?

    Sorry to begin with if this has been dealt with in another thread already. Ive taken a look around and cant see something that answers my questions exactly. If such a thread exists, please point me in that direction.
    We have a product that needs to be installed on a customer site. Its a windows based, web fronted application with a client program on the user's pc and a server side component that handles requests for data. What I need to do is to check if the user has already authenticated against active directory. If so then I dont need to ask for authentication (single sign on).
    This is my first look at jndi so Im in the dark about how this should be done. Is there a way to use the user's credentials (is there a token?) to check or do I need a specific login for my application to access the customer AD?
    Any tips would be very welcome,

  • My MBP has a hitch in its giddy-up!

    I'm just writing to see if anyone can help me in my predicament. I have a MBP as stated in my signature. I don't understand why I'm having this issue, but my MBP has begun to pause for a second (iTunes stops playing, mouse freezes, sometimes beach ball) then starts back up. Sometimes it's when I'm browsing the internet. Sometimes it's when I'm writing in Pages...I can't see a specific time when it happens.
    I have 4 GB RAM installed, but it seems like A LOT of it is being used. I don't think that I have that much running, but maybe I do. I did disable Dropbox before the below Activity Monitor report.

    Sounds to me like you have a bad HDD. Give Apple Hardware Test a whirl, and be sure to tick the extended tests box. This is one of those times when you wish Apple had HDD activity LEDs, but I'm betting there's a direct correlation between your HDD kicking in and the slowdowns.
    As pronounced as you make it sound, even AHT should be able to pick up on it.

    Hi,
    I have encountered the error message (stacktrace below) in one of the managed servers of my Weblogic 9.2 cluster (containing 4 managed servers). There are ALSB proxies consuming and producing to JMS distributed queues on the cluster.
    The server reporting this error (server01_01) is complaining about the Remote JVM of the other servers (server01_02, 02_01, 02_02) being shutdown, but what I have observed is that server01_01 was killed by the Nodemanager(may be due to failure or being unavailable).
    I would like to know:
    1) When does this error occur usually?
    2) How is it different from "weblogic.jms.common.LostServerException: [JMSClientExceptions:055169]Network connection to server was lost."?
    3) Why did I get an error complaining about the other healthy servers when actually the problem is with the server reporting the error?
    Any hints are appreciated.

    EJB keep traks of Bea CLUSTER using JVMID as an identifier of each manged server's JVM. When this JVMID is no longer valid, you can see "JVM is already been shutdowm" as client exception. This issue happen when, on client side, EJB can't recognize server side JVM shutdown. In WLS 8.1 there was a PATCH to solve this problem. Ask to Bea support if you need a patch also for WLS 9.2.

  • Cannot download purchase - enter code has already been used

    I purchased a six book set of audiobooks which I cannot download. When I proceed to the link emailed to me by Apple, the enter code page has my code entered in the box with a red message beneath that says, "Code has already been used once." I can proceed no further. Nothing has been downloaded and I have written iTunes support three times. Eleven days have passed since I made my purchase and I have received no confirmation of the resolution of this problem from iTunes. The books appear in my Apple account order history but do not appear in my iTunes account purchase history. HELP! I am so frustrated! I feel like I have thrown $300 out the window.

    Just to confirm, what "iTunes Support" are you referring to? Did you use the form at the bottom of this web page (or one like it elsewhere on the iTMS Customer Support pages)?

    When I try to purchase the Minecraft- Pocket Edition app, I get the following message:

    my devices can launch and go through iTunes without issue, so I know they are connected to iTunes, it just won't allow me to download this app. This issue is present across my iPad, iPhone, and MacBook Pro, which are all running the latest operating system they can.

    You just purchase the app. Are you running into some sort of issue when trying to purchase it?

  • How do I get a refund on Export PDF that has ALREADY been agreed

    On 1/21-1/22 I tried to 'renew' a subscription for Export PDF. By some error (maybe mine - I just dont understand the whole thing) my Bank was immediately charged for two subscriptions, each at a different price. I immediately "chat"ted with several  reps (it was difficult to get onto the chat and find out how to cancel) and was assured that both would be cancelled and refunded. They weren't!
    I waited a week. Was again frustrated by the chat hookup, and tried the 'cloud' retail product tel #, assuming it was wrong but that I could be switched to the correct one. Had a very pleasant chat, was assured that both would be cancelled and refunded, received 2 e-mails confirming the cancellations, each with a seperate "Case #". Felt pretty good! It had only taken me a week of reasonably diligent effort to get a very simple thing done! IT WASN"T DONE! (Yes, I apologize - I know I'm loud - but by now I've got steam coming out of my ears!)
    Today I got an e-mail, telling me that the refund had been processed and the case # would be closed. I looked at my bank, and only one had been refunded! I reviewed all the other e-mails and the notes from the telephone calls and chats to be sure I hadn't misunderstood something. But, no I hadn't. I went to my Adobe on-line and looked up 'my orders' history. Sure enough one had been invoiced and refunded ( the lesser charge of the two) but the other had ONLY BEEN INVOICED - NOT CANCELLED. And it seems that every piece of this transaction generates a new "order" , "case" or some other "reference #" - none of which are tied together, except by the invoice amount, when it is mentioned - which it typically IS NOT.
    My question, then, is : How can I get past this absolute frustration over every aspect of my interaction with Adobe and GET THIS TAKEN CARE OF?????????

        What frustration? (Just kidding !)
        As I mentioned, one of the two charges has been  refunded. Credited by
    Adobe on Jan 28, I believe I received it in my bank on Jan  30.
        The other charge, $25.37 of order # AD011017507,  has not been received
    by my bank yet. But this can't be that much of a surprise,  and has nothing
    to do with "10 business days" for refunds to post.
        To this minute, "My Orders" on Adobe website shows  that the order #
    AD011017507  was invoiced on January 22, but that no  credit invoice has been
    posted against this order to this moment!
        Can you begin to understand the frustration of  being unable, through
    all attempts to untangle this mess, starting within  one hour of the original
    order, with I believe nine different "Chats",  telephone calls and, finally
    a "problem" posting,  stretching over more  than thirteen days. Of course
    it doesn't make much sense to devote this much  attention to less than $50
    worth of stuff, but I do not let things like this  dangle.
        And can you imagine how loathe I am to deal with  Adobe for fear of
    some real problem?
        At any rate, I would certainly be pleased if you  can suggest a way for
    me to extricate myself from this. Any help would be  GREATLY appreciated!

    As per your other thread, I believe you have restored couple of tables from your backup and this is not supported. In order to have everything running properly, then a full database restore should be done.

  • How do you search through configured Alternate Extensions to correct error message : The phone number or extension has already been assigned to some other object.

    When configuring a new Unity Voicemail Account I receive this message : The phone number or extension has already been assigned to some other object. I understand that this means that the 10 digit number I am trying to configure as the alternate extension for this user is already configured for another object with Unity.
    I need to search by the 10 digit number and determine where it is configured so I can change it and map to the correct end user.
    I have attempted to to search Users via DTMF Access ID using the 10 digit number with nothing being returned via that search.
    How do I Search all of the copnfigured Alternate Extensions within our Unity Server?

    A subscriber info dump is likely the fastest way.  If you're curious regarding other methods, you can also use the Data Link Explorer (CUDLE) tool which is in the Cisco Unity Tools Depot.  All extensions for all objects are referenced in the "DTMFAccessId" table.  The View menu has a Query Builder which you can use to compile a SQL query that searches for a digit string.  It's best to search for both the 10 digit string as well as an abbreviated string as Unity sees them essentially the same and they are usually should be associated with a single subscriber.  Once you find a match, you can use the "ParentObjectId" value associated with the DTMF access ID to look for a matching owner in the "GlobalSubscriber" table.  The ParentObjectId should match the SubscriberObjectId for a subscriber (assuming the DTMF access ID is assigned to a subscriber).  This is the same thing as looking at SQL; however, you are not directly accessing the DB so this is generally considered the safest way to browse and get a feel for where things are.

  • Unable to load the tables in the Power Pivot Window – An Item with the Same Key has already been added

    Hi there,
    I recently had the following situation, where I changed the source of my CSV file in Power Query.
    Once I had reloaded the file, it would then not load into Power Pivot. So I disabled the loading from Power Query into Power Pivot. I then enabled the loading to the Data Model. Which then successfully loaded the data into Power Pivot.
    But once I went into Power Pivot, had a look, then saved the Excel file. Once saved I closed the Excel file. I then opened the Excel file again and all the sheets that interact with the Power Pivot data work fine.
    But if I go and open Power Pivot I get the following error: Unable to load the tables in the Power Pivot Window – An Item with the Same Key has already been added.
    This is what I get from the Call Stack

    I would assume that the issue is with the synonyms and for some reason, when I disabled the loading of my data into the Power Pivot Model, it did not remove the associations to the actual table and synonyms.
    If I renamed the table in Power Pivot it all works fine. So that was my work around. Fortunately I did have a copy of the Excel workbook before I made this change. So I could then go and add back in all the relevant data to my table.
    Has anyone had this before and know how to fix it?

  • HT201209 I have tried to redeem a gift card but I get the message "the gift certificate or card you have entered has already been redeemed". I haven't redeemed it, please help.

    I recently bought a £15 ituens gift card for my partner. Since she is not too savvy with itunes, I went on to her account to redeem it for her. I scratched off the panel and entered the code into the correct box on itunes and was told "the gift certificate or card you have entered has already been redeemed".
    I took the card back to Morrisons Supermarket in Guiseley where I had bought it and was told that since Morrisons only sell gift cards on behalf of iTunes and receive a commission, that they could do nothing and I had to take the problem up with iTunes.
    Well, dealing with iTunes is no easy thing. I finally found what I thought was the right area on the website and was directed to send an email. I did this, but the chap I got through to seemed to think I had a problem with my iTunes software or that I didn't know how to redeem the card. I tried my best - over several emails - to get through to him that the problem was with the gift card code and that they may have been hacked. It would be very easy for them to find out that a) I wasn't the one who had redeemed the code and b) who the culprit was due to the fact they would know whose iTunes account the code had been credited to. I got nowhere, the chap sent me a link to "account security" and told me to phone them even though it was not possible to get a phone number from the link he sent me.
    So, I got back in touch with Morrisons customer complaints and basicaaly told them that as far as I was concerned they were selling faulty goods on behalf of another company and that they should at least try and help me out with iTunes. I have since received an email from Morrisons asking for all the details of the card so they can look into it. iTunes - meanwhile - have stopped replying to my emails and I am now being completely ignored by them.
    Has anyone else had this problem or does anyone know where I stand and how I can either get my money back or get the funds put on to my partners iTunes account?

    Not likely you'll get a "history" but Apple should be able to resolve the problem.

    I did an index reset and now I can't start any crawl. It's complaining "An item with the same key has already been added".  Exception seems to from Microsoft.Office.Server.Search.Internal.Protocols.SharePoint2006.CSTS3Helper.GetVirtualServerPolicyInternal.

    1. Try to crawl your content source using farm admin account.
    2.
    Disable loopback check .
    3.Add reference  SPS3s://WEB into your content source start addresses.
