My MBP keeps ejecting my install disks!

I thought I'd make backup copies of my SL disks, but the Machine keeps ejecting them. It reads other disks just fine, including the Tiger install disks off an iMac.
The SL disks will read fine in the iMac, but the MBP doesn't want them!
And once I've solved that, how do I copy them? On the iMac I keep getting the installer if I click on the disk icon.

The SL disks are DL DD DVD's. Perhaps your optical drive is having problems reading those. Take it to an Apple store or AASP.
How to Make a Non-Commercial DVD copy of MAC OS X
Making a DVD Image:

Step 1. Insert the retail Mac OS X Install DVD into your drive.

Step 2. Launch Disk Utility (Applications > Utilities).

Step 3. In Disk Utility, you will notice a white pane on the left hand side. In the pane, select the Mac OS X Install DVD by clicking on it once.

Step 4. Click New Image on the Disk Utility toolbar.

Step 5. A dialog box will appear. Give the new image a name. I used 'Mac OS X Install DVD'. Select the destination where you wish to save it. Leave Image Format at Compressed (default) and Encryption at None (default).

Step 6. Click Save to begin creating the image.

Step 7. Once your image has been created DO NOT mount it. Leave the image alone and proceed to the next section.

Burning the Image:

Step 1. Launch Disk Utility (Applications > Utilities).

Step 2. Click Burn on the Disk Utility toolbar (upper left).

Step 3. Navigate to where you saved the DVD image created in the previous section. Click on the image file, then click the Burn button. Do not drag and drop the image file into Disk Utility during this step.

Step4. Insert a DVD when prompted and proceed to Burn it. (use good quality media).

Not sure which iMac you have or what OS X it is running, but
If your iMac is running Lion, Mountain Lion or Mavericks, use OS X Recovery instead of the Install Disc.
see > OS X: About OS X Recovery
If your iMac is running Snow Leopard or earlier, then something is wrong with your Superdrive or your Install Disc.
If other DVDs and CDs are working in your Superdrive, then contact Apple Support and order a new Install Disc.

  • MBP keeps ejecting SL installer disk

Can someone please let me know what my options are to make my MBP take the Snow Leopard installer disk? I tried the restart and "C" option, that got me no where... Please help! Anyone?

Try this. Open Disk Utility and let it repair permissions and check the HD itself. If that turns out OK, disconnect all that is connected to your Mac (except for keyboard and mouse), and try running the installer of Snow Leopard again.

Try zapping PRAM. Hold down the cndopt+RP keys on restart (with the Leopard disk in), and release them after 3 "bongs". Then, immediately hold down the C key.

  • Why does imac G5 eject leopard install disk

Why does imac G5 eject leopard install disk?  I'm trying to help my father get online to read the newspaper using an iMac G5 1.8 GHz 17".  I've installed a new hard drive and reinstalled software and rus software updates until I've reached 10.4.11 and the lovely "your software is up to date" message.  When I put in the Leopard 10.5.1 Install DVD, it auto ejects within 15 seconds and never gets mounted and never shows on desktop.  When I place the same DVD in my Intel MacBook Pro running 10.6.8, the disk mounts and the install window opens as usual.  Any suggestions on what i'm missing here? thanks

  • Eject the install disk

Hi. Please help. My install disk appears to be hanging on the grey Apple screen at start-up. I've not yet installed Leopard. I just want to eject the disk. How do I get it out of the computer. I'm thinking I got a bad disk.
    Thanks. Dan

I can understand this to be a problem. The optical drive is barely reading the DVD, but just enough so it does not give up. Typically, a drive will re-read a sector several times if it experiences a problem. So imagine if much of the DVD had this film on it - - the installation might finally work, but only after the drive struggled with the DVD for a very long time. Also, at some point, the computer or drive might get really hot and make things worse.
I think this is one of the major problems people have been having, with no explanation until now.

  • Can't eject keyboard install disk

Hoping someone can help me. Bought my brand new Mac Mini yesterday with only a new LCD - as I planned to use old keyboard and mouse. However while setting up (didnt even get to power up stage!) discovered that old k/brd and mouse aren't USB so immediately rushed out and bought new ones (Microsoft Wireless). Initially Mac didnt recognise my keyboard so inserted install disk - all went well until it asked for restart. It shut down and half restarted - disk didnt, and wont, eject and nothing at all showing onscreen tho it does light up. What can I do? I desperately want to play with my new machine!!!!
    Mac Mini 1.66   Mac OS X (10.4)

That will solve it. I had the same problem. Found out that there is an issue with Microsoft Wireless Keyboard and Mouse. Just plug in a usb mouse and restart while holding down the left click. The disk will eject and everything will work fine. I've been using the Microsoft keyboard and mouse since with no problems.

  • Drive will eject vista install disk but not any other disks

My two-day old iMac G5 will not accept my install disk for vista. It has accepted all other media that I have tried so far. The disk was immediately recognized by my MacBook Pro, so it is not a problem with the dvd itself. Any suggestions?

Um, is the computer new or used? I ask because G5s were discontinued in early 2006. G5s won't run Windows unless you have VirtualPC.

  • How do I eject the install disk on the mini mac?

In wiping the mini mac, it keeps looping to the erase and install.  It won't allow me to shut down or eject the disk to put in the program disk.  When the screen gets to the Install Mac OS X, it won't show any disk (the Mac Mini) to install it.  I used the Utilities to erase and install, but I can't go any further.  It should install with a system lower than the OS X Yosemite.

  • Studio 8 keeps asking for install disk

    Hi-
PC, Win XP SP2, Compaq R4012 laptop. I had Studio MX 2004
installed and downloaded the Dreamweaver 8 and Fireworks 8 demos to
try out. I installed them and used them for a couple of weeks
(Studio MX 2004 was still on my machine at this time--it was my
understanding that I could leave it in place while I demoed DW 8/FW
8). I purchased Studio 8, uninstalled the demo software,
uninstalled Studio MX 2004, rebooted and installed Studio 8. Now
about every third time I start one of the Studio 8 programs I am
prompted to either reenter the Studio 8 registration number or am
asked to insert the installation disks-- a "The feature you are
looking for is located on your installation disk." (or something
like that) window pops up and I have to put in the installation
disk, let it run for several minutes and then, Dreamweaver 8 in
this case, will start just fine. Also, in DW 8 I had associated
StyleMaster with .css files but decided to remove that association
and just use the CSS editor in DW8. However, every once in a while
DW 8 will "revert" its preferences back to using StyleMaster as the
CSS editor. Honestly, I've never had anything like this happen
before. Did the demo possibly mess things up (I've heard of Adobe
demos later causing problems with full installs)? Should I
uninstall and reinstall Studio 8? If so, how can I get a full
"clean" install so that any bits of MX 2004 and/or demo software
    are completely removed?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • DVD-r read error; keeps ejecting burnt backup disk

    Hi all,
I'm running a Dual 1.8 G5 with OS 10.4.8. After 3 years of use, I had some serious hard drive errors and had to reinstall the OS, but not before backing up my system on DVD-rs using Disk Utility. I checked them on my old system and they read fine; however they aren't reading now that I've reinstalled the OS; as I insert the disk, the drive hums as if it's reading the disk and then ejects it.
Any suggestions? I'm at my wits end.

  • How to undo boot camp, wont boot from install disk in dvd drive

A few months ago I went through trying out boot camp and parallels. Now, I think something is messed up. I dont need either right now, so I just want to wipe out the whole system, repartition the drive, and restore to a blank new install of os x 10.5 leopard.
But when I put in the install disk, it wont boot up off it.
I tried holding down the c key while powering it up, and it just cycles through: hearing the drive whirl, a bling sound, and then repeating it again while the screen is blank. Finally, I held down the click button on the touch pad so it would eject the install disk.
Maybe this will help someone recognize part of the problem. Ever since messing around with boot camp and parallels, my machine wont "reboot". To reboot it, I tell it to reboot, then it hangs on the star like screen, then I have to hold the power button down, then if I do nothing, it tries to boot, but ends up in a dos looking screen saying no bootable device. So when I power it back up, I hold down the alt key, and then I have one choice: the hard drive. I pick that and it boots up ok.
So... I thought, well, maybe the boot camp is still messed up; maybe I should undo boot camp. When I start the boot camp assistant, there is only a "partition" and "back" button; nothing to "restore" the hard drive to just one partition.
What can I do? I want to wipe the drive and install a fresh install from my install disk.
