My mcafee site advisor is no longer working

I have the newest version of mozilla. the mcafee siteadisor browser botton has dissapeared from my mozilla. the green, yellow, and red ticks no longer appear after a web site search. i have re installed mcaffee. still no results.

I have Firefox 22.0 and latest updates for mcAfee but McAfee (see Add-Ons) sez it disabled McAfee site advisor to protect my system from crashes--McAfee tech support 1-866-622-3911 person, "Martin" in India, helped me enable it but but nothing improved: still no search result indicators. So he said to uninstall Firefox and install latest version. I have not tried that cuz it seems to me version 22.0 must be the latest version---am I wrong?

My McAfee comes with o2 and the site adviser (the little green shield) always showed clearly in previous versions of Firefox but now it doesn't show at all.
Hope this explanation is enough to go on. It certainly mades me feel more secure when I could see the grren site advisor.
It works perfectly on Google Chrome but i like using FireFox

McAfee Site Advisor is blocklisted by Mozilla. The Site Advisor extension was the #2 cause of crashing the Firefox 5.0 betas. McAfee was notified of the problem long before that extension was added to the blocklist. Now it is up to them to fix it.

McAfee is supposedly working on a re-written version. The '''original projection was''' that it would be available in the 3rd week of July, which of course has now come and gone. Latest information is that their fix will be released near the end of August. They seem to not care about the inconvenience to their users.

  • The McAfee site advisor used to work brfore but no longer does with the new version of Firefox. How do I revert to the olderversion or get the McAfee site advisor to work?

The McAfee site advisor used to work before with earlier versions of Firefox but now no longer does since upgrading to the latest version. It still works with Explorer so it a Firefox version compatibility issue with McAfee. The PC runs on Microsoft Vista.

I am sure that it is only their toolbar that is incompatible. To verify that and ask if they currently support Firefox 5 with their add-ons, go to the following address and post your question(s). Changing their toolbars to be compatible with any browser is their responsibility.
Other than the toolbar, the rest of your security application should be working as expected, but you can also ask that question at the above link. Firefox has built-in malware/phishing protection, if that is what is provided by their toolbar, another question that you can ask at the above link.

  • I am running Firefox 5, McAfee Site advisor is blocked. I contacted McAfee and they said it won't work with Firefox 5 and that I should use an ealier version of FF or use IE. Is there a patch coming to allow Site Advisor to work on FF 5?

As above McAfee apparently feels the fault is with FF. I will admit that under the latest 3 version it worked fine. I skipped version 4 because of some things a read about it. I did go with FF5.

I have read that McAfee is working on a re-written version that is projected to be available in the 3rd week of July.
Quite honestly, with McAfee taking the position that this problem is with Firefox or is Mozilla's fault, when that add-on has a long history of being [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Problematic_extensions PROBLEMATIC], I have lost the little respect I had for McAfee being a respectable, ethical company. ''Of course, my level of respect for McAfee was low to begin with due to problems I had with their software 10 years ago causing me to re-format my PC bi-weekly immediately after their security scans on a Win98 PC, and haven't used their stuff since once I discovered their software was causing my problem with lost video card drivers repeatedly.''

When I downloaded firefox 5.0 it checks for incompatible add on etc. and it deleted mcafee site advisor which shows which web sites are safe to use. It will work again if McAfee does a full update...

  • My McAfee site advisor is missing since I upgraded firefox, can anyone help

Hi, I updated my laptop with the latest version of Firefox this afternoon. Since doing that my McAfee Site Advisor isn't working.
Does anyone know what I can do to recover this.
    Regards and Thanks
    Arthur

The McAfee Site Advisor 3.3.1 extension was the number 2 cause of crashes in one of the Firefox 5.0 betas and Mozilla Blocklisted it. That extension is disabled in Firefox 5, Firefox 6.0beta, and Firefox 7.0alpha versions. McAfee is working on a new re-written version of the Site Advisor extension to fix their problems - ETA is mid to end of July. <br />

  • Firefox 5 does not allow me to use McAfee site advisor. How can I download previous version?

McAfee site advisor is important to me and the new Firefox 5 does not allow it's use. Can you please let me know if I can use previous version of Firefox and how can I get download.
Perhaps you could e-mail me when problem has been resolved and I can then return to using Firefox which is my preferred browser. In the interim I shall use Internet Explorer which permits site advisor Thank-you

The McAfee extension was blacklisted due to be a #2 top crasher and McAfee has been working on fixing their toolbar for a month now and it may be ready in 2-4 weeks.

  • When will firefox 4.01 be compatible with McAfee Site Advisor?

I get pop-ups offering the latest version of Firefox (4.01) but when I go to install it, it warns me that my McAfee Site Advisor will not work with this new version. Can you tell me when you expect the new version of Firefox to be able to support use of McAfee Site Advisor??? Thank you for your time.

Check with McAffe for an updated version of the Site Advisor extension.

  • Can I revert back to my older version 3.6? This 4.0 Version does not support McAfee Site Advisor & I think it sucks!!!

I should have been warned that McAfee Site Adviser would no longer be available with this new version, especially since I paid '''hard earned''' money to McAfee to have this feature. I would not have downloaded this new version had I known ahead of time.
Can I revert back to 3.6?

    Use WOT (web of trust):
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/wot-safe-browsing-tool/
Its a way better alternative to McAfee site advisor simply because its open to everyone and supports every browser. Trust me downgrading to 3 is not worth the benefits of McAfee.

  • McAfee Site Advisor add on causes Firefox to operate slowly, wht can be done?

Running Win 8.1 on a new Dell.
McAfee Site advisor is enabled and causes Firefox to run slowly and in fits and starts.
When I disable Mcafee site advisor Firefox runs fine.

    Hi Richard,
Unfortunately, extensions such as Site Advisor are known to slow-down Firefox. Often, poor memory utilization is the cause; this can lead to slow start-up, crashing, and general slowness loading webpages.
In my opinion, Site Advisor is completely unnecessary, as Firefox includes built-in phishing and malware protection already (see [[How does built-in Phishing and Malware Protection work?]])
In addition, some search engines such as duckduckgo.com have an option to enable Web of Trust (mywot.com) ratings alongside search results without the need for additional add-ons. In your case, I think this would be the best option for you.
