I accidentally dropped my Ipod into the lake, at the beach yesterday, but i caught it early and it wasn't too soaked... i wiped it off for the most part, and most of the buttons and the screen worked fine! i was shocked, and there were a few glitches with the camera and the slide button on the lock screen, but otherwise it was greatly intact! so i gave it a rest, put it in my purse, and picked it up fifteen minutes later, and it was working 100% normally again! when i got home a few hours later, i put it in rice for a few hours, taking it out every once and a while to check my notifications... it still seemed to be working perfectly, so i just set it down out of the rice, assuming the moisture was gone. this morning, again, everything was working normally, no glitches, UNTIL, i opened my instagram app, and the screen froze, and it seemed like it had two separate screens, and i held the Sleep button down until the screen went black... then i tried turning it back on, etc. and it still didn't work, and so i plugged it into the computer, holding down the sleep and home buttons, and itunes identified it as in recovery mode, and started updating. i tried again to press the sleep and home butttons, maybe pressing only the home button, because I heard the Siri noise, as well as the charging sound, but the screen was still black.... i checked my iTunes, and lo and behold, it had identified my iPod, and synced it to the computer, as if it were normally functioning. However, the screen is still not working, and Siri is not working either. The sounds may be the only thing that's functioning. Should i send it in?

If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

i'm using windows 7, my computer sound was working perfectly, recently i tried to update my sound driver using DRIVER BOOSTER, after the update there was no sound when i tried to play music an ERROR appears, then i uninstalled it, still not working, i went
to DEVICE MANAGER, to check my SOUND DRIVER it says '' This device is working properly.'' though i get no sound.
NB : my sound driver is 'Realtek high definition audio'.
help me please.First you need to go find the correct driver for you computer. If it is a dell, or similar model go to the manufacturers website. If not then go to Realtek to download the proper driver by model number.
Download the correct driver for your model soundcard.
You need to uninstall your current sound card driver. restart your computer
Upon restarting you can then install the proper driver by running the program you downloaded.
P.S. Only get your drivers from the manufacturers, third party drivers, like Drivers Dot Com and many others are just BAD to put it nicely. They rarely have the correct ones and more often then not add extra programs to the driver packages. -
Is there anything I can do to get my microphone working again. Some one suggested a reset but if I do will that reset everything and will I lose all my contacts etc??? Help.

Especially holding the trackpad mouse button upon restart and resetting the SMC.
If it's stuck in there you might have to make a "guide" out of two thin pieces of plastic. Post back if that's the case. -
My Microphone is not working after upgrading to Windows 7 using Laptop Satellite L505D-S5965
Please I need your help. My laptop Satellite L505D-S5965 had vista and I got the upgrade for windows 7. However after the upgrade I noticed that the microphone is not working while the speaker are working fine. I have went to the sound right click and choosed recording device and found tha the realtalk is my driver and everything is fine there. when I change to stereo mix I got very bad noise.
can someone help please. please note that the microphone was working in vista operating system. Does Windows 7 has a bug in this regrad.
I also have another question my understanding is the model Satellite L505D-S5965 has no internal microphone is this is the case? I can plug in external mic into the jack provided for this but there is no built in microphone am I correct please advise?

Check with the volume controls on the right corner of the toolbar by right clicking on the volume icon and recording devices and see if the microphone is detected you should a green tick mark on it if not select the microphone and click on set as default and click on properties check in the device usage if its enabled or not, click on the levels tab and move the microphone controller to 100. If still its not working, Uninstall the audio drivers from device manager, download and install latest drivers from hp.com.

I just bought an imac in september 2012. And i just find out that my microphone is not working. So i did an apple hardware test and with no problems found? I have sound but no one can hear me, not even the computer. Should i bring it back to the store
Before you go through that trouble open About this Mac > More Info... > System Report > Audio and see if the system actually knows it has a microphone. Then you can look into Applications > Utilities > Audio MIDI Setup and see if the microphone is there, select it and make sure the sliders are set to full. Then in System Preferences look for Sound > Input and make sure it shows up there and the sliders are at least half way up. If none of that works do a

Unplug the computer's power cord and ALL peripherals.
Wait 15 seconds.
Attach the computers power cable.
Wait another 5 seconds and press the power button to turn on the computer.
It is the 5 second timing that initiates the reset.
then go through the process of looking for the microphone again as the reset may reenable the mic. -
I got my Macbook Pro 17inch (early 2011) back from Apple (they had to replace the logic board) 3 days ago, I had a terrible experience as the genious who gave me my solid state disk for safekeeping lost my disk's brackets thus I had to wait 2 more hours until they find one after 10 days of waiting for the repair. I noticed some weird sounds, like somehting is moving with the mac 1-2 times, even if I have no mechanical parts other than the fans, but my real issue at the moment is that my microphone is not working. I can see the mic in the System Info however and in Audio Midi Setup. In the Audio Midi Setup I see that the master chanel is turned off and I can't turn in on. Ch 1 and 2 are on full. I also noticed the first seconds after the comp. boots the blue bar goes to the middle in the System Preferences -> Sound -> Input. Any ideas what to do or try? I do not want to go back to the apple store as it is 50 minutes away from here and I need my laptop as a computer science student. Everything else is working perfectly.
You need to call both the store that did the repair and Apple directly, warranty service or Apple care, and report this problem with both of them and get a ticket number of some kind (some kind of verification number) that the unit just came back from major service with this problem and that you want it fixed when you can lose the use of it, which is not right now.
Without doing something like that they could easily say it is damage not covered under the normal warranty.
God knows what the repair center did and did not do to it while it was there.
And depending on when you actually bought it the warranty could run out in the mean time. -

To rule out a software issue, try to set it up as new device, without using the latest backup, explained in this article:

I live in South Africa, and I had the same problem with my iPhone 4.
After weeks of frustration and swearing, I was in the process of restoring my phone to a previous iOS. To do that you need to turn the "Find my iPhone" option off, since i turned it off, my problem was solved. No need to repair anything or revert back to old iOS.

Dictation is not working in the reminders app on iPhone 4s IOS6. The microphone is grayed out. How do I re-enable the microphone?
One day I tried to dictate a note and discovered the microphone was grayed out. As someone suggested I did a hard reset of my iPhone 4S and that didn't solve the problem.
Then I had an epiphany. I use the Notes app a lot and have a lot of Notes stored in the app. I tried deleting some of my many notes and "viola!" the microphone is black again. My guess is the app has some kind of storage limit and when you hit that limit, the microphone is automatically turned off. Anyway, that's my theory and I'm sticking to it.

I have the iPad 2 16GB, bought it in August 2011, I worked perfectly but in mid-August 2012 I took her to the store because the microphone did not work reviewed and changed me, but to my surprise that the new iPad had the problem is disconnected WIFI signal I have to be glued to the router, and I did everything he says is supported by the Apple and all other pages and forums regarding this problem is not solved and always disconnects when connected always disconnects again!! passing will be settled as no longer factory warranty although it has neither the three months I renewed new, please help because the investment has been great and I can not use only as "a mirror" I'm waiting a true solution, thanks ....

I have an extremely old router dLink 524....but I have NEVER had any problems with it at all ever. My xbox connected great to it and netflix ran flawless through my xbox.....now I have an ipad2 and an apple tv and they are BOTH having horrible connection problems. I have read most of the forums on how to fix it by changing the settings on my router but since mine is so old I couldn't do some of the suggested solutions. So here I am debating on whether to spend all this $ on an airport extreme? I am just hoping that if I go and purchase this, my connectivity issues problems will go away like yours did. Just wondering if you have ATV as well and if the AE solved its problems? I have read about AE solving ipad2 wifi problems, I'm just hoping it will solve my ATV as well.
