My Microphone wont work on my x

I recently reformated my pc and i installed my sound card drivers etc, i use a head set with a mic, before i reformated i just used the soundcard for the most obvious reason why i bought it but i kept my mic connected to the cpu, but since i reformated i cant use either the soundcard or the cpu for my mic as it wont work, i tested another mic but that didnt work either. And MSN doesnt detect any sound in the mic when i talk in it.
If anyone has any solutions for this problem i would be very grateful
Thankyou

  • IPhone 4S  Microphone Wont Work

My microphone quit working.  It will not work for emails, texts or siri....help?

This is official terminology because it is the Terminology that Apple Advisors use.
No it is not.  No Apple "Advisors" I have had any contact with use those terms, and those terms ("Hard, Soft, or Forced Reset, Factory Reset, Reset Factory Settings", etc.) are NOT used in ANY of the  hundreds of "Official" support documents published by Apple,  NOT ONE.
Using terms like Hard and Soft will not at all confuse anyone if you're explaining to them what steps to take in orfer to perform it. 10 or 15 seconds doesn't matter, 15 IS at least 10, so you're just complaining about nothing
You need to re-read your own post, which had no mention of ANY time to press the buttons - no mention of "15 seconds."
Maybe if you had more experience following this forum you would know of the many who failed to press the buttons long enough (up to 30 seconds needed in some instances), or even pressed them briefly resulting in screen shots!!
Even if "explained" accurately, they confuse neophytes when they later see the correct term, simply Reset iPhone, used and don't know if that means the same thing.
Move on and get back to helping people rather than High Horsing around. Thanks anyways!
You're welcome.  You should move on from the ancient PC world and learn how to accept constructive criticism without becoming defensive and persuing wrong, obsolete, and irelevent arguments.
As well, the iPhone user guide nowhere says what the Resets are called and never provides official terminology.
Read again.  See page 173, under the paragraph "Restarting or resetting iPhone":
"Restart iPhone: Hold down the On/Off button until the red slider appears. Slide your finger across the slider to turn off iPhone. To turn iPhone back on, hold      down the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears .
Reset iPhone: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears."
See page 168 for Reset settings....
You also need to read the many Support Documents referring to these procedures such as:
iPhone and iPod touch: Frozen and unresponsive
iPhone and iPod touch: Troubleshooting touchscreen response
Nowhere does Apple EVER use the terms "hard" or "soft" in reference to resetting or restarting.

  • Microphone wont work

I am using PPCC 2014 on a windows 8.1 computer.
I have a microphone connected but can not get it to record directly into any of the audio channels using the Audio track Mixer.
I have done this before so I am aware of the various controls to do this recording, but lately no audio.
I have tested the microphone using the windows accessory "Sound Recorder" and was able to record using it.
As a work-around I have recorded voice over using the sound recorder and adding the file on my timeline. That works but it strikes me that there is some setting in PP that I am missing.
    Any help will appreciated!

In the Edit->Preferences menu, check for the sound control items ... there's a drop--down box there that probably has other things that could be selected ... try them until you get the one that works ...

  • Skype microphone wont work on Ipod touch 4th gen after updating it.

So i dont usually update apps that often. But i for some reason wanted to update skype. So i updated it and then went to go on skype with my friends. So i went on a voice call and it turned out they couldent hear me, it wasnt on mute, they didnt put me on mute blah blah. I just want it to work again.
    and going to Privacy>microphone>skype
doesnt work cause the microphone option isnt even there....

    - Make sure the mic hole is clear and unobstructed. It is the little hole on the back by the camera lens(if has back camera). For the 16 GB one without the back camera the mic hole is on the top edge near the center.
    - Open the Voice Memos app and see if you see movement on the VU meter needle with changes in noise level trying to be recorded.
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Webcam microphone wont work

I recently purchased the Creative WebCam NX Pro. The camera is working fine, but I am not able to record sound. The camera came with a seperate microphone that I pluggeg into the "Mic" jack. SoundBlaster Live 24bit came installed on my computer.

Can you check if the microphone works in a standard recording program? Open up the Sound Recorder that comes with Windows, it should be under Start > (All) Programs > Accessories > Entertainment. Try recording with that and see if there is any sound from the microphone.
You may have to adjust some settings in the mixer that comes with the soundcard, such as setting the recording source (usually a red slide) to microphone. When you've got the microphone working in the Sound Recorder, check the webcam software for any settings and you should be good to go.

  • After update to 10.5.4 internal microphone wont work

it dosnt work in ichat or in anything else ?

So the Mic shows in System Preferences > Sound > Input tab but the volume adjustment makes no difference.
I have checked to see if MUTE, which would normally effect output had any effect and it does not. My blue bar still moves.
If System Profiler sees the Mic I would try deleting com.apple.audioDevices.Settings.plist from Hard Drive/Library/Preferences
These are the Preferences in the Library you can see when you open the Hard drive not the one in your home folder.
IF this does not bring the Mic back to full life it may need and engineer to tell you more.

  • Sennheiser PC 350 microphone not working

    Hello
    First my specs:
    Windows 7 Ultimate English
    Headset: http://www.sennheiser.com/sennheiser/home_en.nsf/root/private_headsets_pc_pro-gaming_502141
MSI P35-NEO-F, Intel P35 (Realtek onboard soundcard)
I let Windows 7 install two drivers (High Defintion Audio Device and Realtek High Defintion Audio), I then installed this driver/software http://eu.msi.com/index.php?func=downloaddetail&type=driver&maincat_no=1&prod_no=1215 (Realtek High Definition Audio Driver at the bottom)
The sound is working, but my microphone wont work. It worked on XP with the same driver, but there is no sound coming when I speak. The volume indicator is also not moving.
Here is what the sound settings look like in Windows 7 and Realtek HD Audio Manager:
    http://peecee.dk/uploads/112009/SoundRecording.jpg
    http://peecee.dk/uploads/112009/RealtekManager.jpg
It doesnt matter if I use stereo mix or anything else. It doesnt change
    Any ideas?
    Thanks :)

    Hi Dumpen,
Please double check if you have plugged in the headphone in the correct jack. Also, can other microphone be recognized? Does this microphone work on other computers?
In the meantime, please also perform the following suggestions:
Use Speech Recognition to test Microphone
    ============================
    1. Please click Start, type “Speech Recognition” (without quotation marks) and press Enter.
    2. Click “Set up microphone” and follow the Microphone setup wizard.
    3. When you reach “Adjust the microphone volume”, please note if the volume bar moves from yellow to red.
Is the Setup wizard complete? If the microphone works properly, we can eliminate hardware problem from the possible causes of the issue. Please check to see if the issue persists in the Third-party software.
Also, you can run the Troubleshooting by going to Start -> Control Panel -> Troubleshooting -> Troubleshooting audio recording -> Follow the wizard to complete the troubleshoot.
    Hope this helps.
    Regards,
    Linda

  • How can I get a microphone that works on windows to work on Lion?

    I have just recived a headset I ordered off eBay. : http://www.ebay.com/itm/380536763585?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m143 9.l2649
I have a windows laptop, and I plugged in the 3.5 mm jack for the microphone, and it works fine. If I go on my mac, and I plug in the correct plugs the the correct locations, it wont work. I have selected it in settings, and looked at the volume and gain. It wont work on Lion. I am using a 2008 iMac with 4gb of ram, and it is running mountain lion. How can I fix this?

Hi, most PC Mics/Headphones won't work on Macs that use Line level, to use that you'll likely need an iMic...

  • Mic wont work.

I cant get my microphone to work, it worked fine last week. I tried a different mic and it still wont work. So I think its my laptop.
I reinstalled my sound card and made sure it wasn't muted.

What laptop model and operating system?  Also, if you know how, go into Device Manager and check for the Conexant Pebble High Definition chip.  If you have that and Win 7, your microphone will continue to not function.  You can work around it by using a USB microphone.  HP keeps telling all of us that they are working on a "fix" and it will be out soon.  I'm not sure what their definition of "out soon" is because many people have been waiting months and months.

  • Mic wont work please someone help!

I've Creative Webcam Live Pro, and my mic wont work. I used the installation CD(webcam CD), and I tried plugging the outlet in the mic slot, and line in slot, but it still wont work. I went to the sound recording program that is installed in the XP, and it wont work. Please someone help I need to make it work.

Make sure you plug the microphone into the mic jack on your sound card.
Depending on what audio card you have, you will need to set the recording source to microphone in the audio settings. (Start, Programs, Accessories, Entertainment, Volume Control, Options, Properties, Select Recording Source.) You might also selecting Mic Boost if there is an option.
Once the Mic is selected as the recording source, change back to playback (Volume Control, Options, Properties, Playback Control) and for now, make sure the microphone setting is not muted. Once that is done, try talking into the microphone to see if you can hear yourself over your speakers. If you can, then it's all set. If not, contact the company who makes your Sound card and verify the settings for enabling your microphone and specifically, what types of microphone and what range will work best (ex 600 ohmz)

  • Skype wont work with my mac os 10.5.8

afternoon, tried to download skype on my power book g4 and it after download I try to open the dm and it says wont work with this artitecture.
I am running 10.5.8  after I have download the dm the window that I should put it into the applications had like a do not enter symbol.
    Thank you for your help

Your Mac is too old to run it.
    http://www.skype.com/en/download-skype/skype-for-mac/
Click the system requirements on that page & you will see…
    1GHz Intel processor.
    Mac OS X 10.5.8+.
    100 MB free disk space.
Either USB or regular headset if your Mac does not have a built-in microphone.
Download drivers if you are using an external webcam.
For voice calls recommend broadband connection with 100 kbps down / 100 kbps up.
For group video calling everyone on the call needs Skype 5.0 for Windows or Mac or higher plus webcams. For best quality we recommend you use a high-speed broadband connection of 4Mbps down/512kbps up and a computer with a Core 2 Duo 1.8 GHz processor. As a minimum you’ll need a high-speed broad connection of 512kbps down/128kbps up and a computer with a 1 GHz processor.
Your Mac has a Power PC processor not an Intel CPU.
