My middle button is stuck

The middle button on my U2 iPod is seemingly stuck and it won't click. It still functions properly, but now, alot of times when I press another button on the wheel like menu or next, they will act as if they were the middle button. It remains this way untill I press the actual middle button alot of times.
This problem has made navigating the iPod's menu alot more difficult. The Genious Bar could'nt fix it, so is there another way I can fix this? If not, would it be possible to trade it in for a replacement iPod?

The same thing just happened to my new ipod, the centre button is stuck, but it seems to work if I press hard. how did you fix this?

  • My middle button seems stuck and won't respond. Help?

My middle button for the iPhone 3GS seems stuck or sticky and won't respond. Voice control keeps popping up because the iPhone thinks I am pushing the middle button to make it do the voice control. Any advice on what to do?

    stoughie,
I'm sorry to hear that your phone is having data and power issues. That's never awesome! smashogre had a great tip, too. I hope it has worked for you. If not, I do recommend an alternative reset to return the phone to the factory settings. If after these steps, it still isn't functioning properly, please direct message me so I can assist you further.

  • 5G click wheel MIDDLE BUTTON STUCK!!!

WOW. i mean i just got my new 60GB black video ipod from the store.
i played with it a bit after transfering all my data onto it.
then the middle button got stuck inside!
its surrounded by the click wheel, and its sunken in.
i have tried to push it back up anyway i could find, but using needles is hard. and it's screwing my brand new ipod, which looks bad right now.
i am too **** far to go back to the store now... [really far!]
never heard of this problem... any ideas ???

Actually you are not the first. The same thing happened to my 4th generation 20gig. About 7 months after I got it. The middle button still worked but was stuck down. It caused some stange behaviors when I would navigate the iPod and when I finally got tired of dealing with it I took it to the Apple Store and they replaced it on the spot. As long as it's still covered don't mess with it, just bring it back.

  • The middle button on my iphone stoped working and i think it is stuck because when i restart it , it goes straight to voice commands. how do i make it work again?

The middle button on my iphone stopped working and i think it is stuck down because whenever i restart it the voice command thing comes right up, like when you hold the middle button down for a few seconds. How do i make it work again?

If this has happened more than once the problem is likely on your PC.

  • Middle Button Stuck In.  Any Ideas?

    Hey,
I've had my iPod (30 GB Video) for about a year now, and recently the middle button has become stuck in. It still is functional for playing music, I just have to push it in really hard, but it is quite annoying that my very expensive piece of equipment has already started to die after only 1 year of use. And, also, it is important to note that I have not once dropped this iPod, and it is constantly in a plastic case (the case does not cover the wheel and middle button though). Anyway, has this happened to anyone else? And if so, what did you do to remedy the problem? I assume Apple will do nothing to fix this, so I am relying on any answers I can get here to help me out. Thanks a lot for reading. Have a nice Labor Day Weekend.

This is how I fixed this problem on my 3rd Generation 20GB iPod. I don't know if this will work on your model iPod, but you might as well try it.
First, open the case of the iPod. You can find information on how to do this on Google. Once you have the case open, try the button. If the button now works with the case open, continue on.
Inside my iPod, the battery is crammed against the button, and the hard drive is crammed against the battery. It is this jamming together of the hard drive, battery, and button mechanism that is causing the button to be stuck in.
In between the hard drive and the battery, there is foam padding, about 1/8" thick. Pull off as much of the padding as you can. Then take a small screwdriver and scrape off the remaining padding, being careful not to damage the hard drive.
Once you have removed the foam padding, put the iPod back together. The button should now work.

  • Middle button stuck thinkpad T440s

Hey, i get a strange behavior from Synaptics. on my new T440s laptop there is no dedicated middle button, it's just a touchpad that can be clicked as a whole and is divided to left middle and right click logically by synaptics.
The problem is, after i use the middle button, for a few seconds, no matter where i press on the touchpad, it gives me a middle button behavior. for example - i open a new tab with the middle button, and when the click the left area of the touchpad to go to the new opened tab, it closes it instead. this happens after i use the middle button, and only for ~10 seconds, then the area gets rebinded and i get a normal behavior.
    The 50-synaptics.conf is

  • Yoga S1 Trackpoint Middle Button

I am not a fan of the new "clickpad", I'm a long time ThinkPad user so my pointing device of choice is the Trackpoint (eraser).  I've set the control panel on this for "Trackpoint Only", and at least the virtual buttons are useable now.  HOWEVER... the "middle button" seems to be stuck in only the "scroll" mode.  The latest control panel doesn't seem to have an option to set it as "normal middle button" - it is just doing this scrolling thing.
I would like to set the middle click action to a regular "middle click", not scrolling.  Anyone know if there is a registry key or some other way to do this, and not the scrolling thing?
    Thanks!

Try setting the following registry keys:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Synaptics\SynTP\StickPS2\Gestures
    Set this to 0.
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Synaptics\SynTPEnh\UltraNavPS2\TrackPointMode
Set this to 0x1211 hex (4625 decimal).

How do you fix the middle button on the 4th generation Ipod Touch because everytime i turn it on and off it goes straight to voice control as if it was stuck.

  • Middle button broken

I had to restore my ipod and the middle button is broken (has been for awhile). Now I'm stuck on the set up page (asking which language I want) because I can't use the middle button. Is there any way to get past this set up without using that button?
    Thanks!

OK thanks. I was afraid of that.

  • Volume button is stuck

My volume button is stuck and a sound effects icon is in the middle of the screen

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430

  • The volume increase button is stuck on my iPod nano (6th Generation) and I can't turn the volume up. Is there a way to fix it?

I have the iPod nano 6th generation, and I have had it since Christmas 2011 so it isn't that old; recently I went to listen to my music and found that the volume increase button is stuck (basically it's like when you press the volume button down to increase the volume, except it is stuck down like that and won't come back up) but it was only stuck about 3/4 of the way down. For about a week this was ok, I just had to press the button harder to make it go down and increase the volume, but now it won't increase the volume at all and it feels and looks as though the button is stuck the whole way in, even when I press the button with some force. I was wondering if anyone knew how I could fix it or if I need to take it to an apple store for them to fix it?!
Sorry if the way I have explained the problem is confusing, it's difficult to explain but it's extremely frustrating.

This happened to me a few weeks ago.  Instead of taking it to the Apple store and paying $ the 99 service charge ( I did give Apple 139.00 13 months ago! for this ipod), I saturated the end of a q-tip w/ WD 40 and carfefully rubbed around the perimeter of the power button.  I waited a half hour and then cleaned of the excess WD 40.  This unstuck my power button.  I guess the WD 40 dissovled all the dirt under and around (also the consrtuction of the buttons is done w/ double sided tape-- maybe a design issue) the button.  A friend tried isopropyl alcohol w/ great results.  Try this before you give Appple any more $$ or get a new ipod.  It's been 6 wks. and my button functions perfectly,
