My middle button on my iPod touch doesn't work properly

I got my iPod touch 4th gen in April for my birthday and from the first day I used it the home button stuffs up, every time I open a app, use it and then go to exit I have to press the home button about 5 times before it exits. Has anyone else had this problem and is there a way to fix it? Please help

Try:

- If you have iOS 5 and later you can turn on Assistive Touch it add the Home and other buttons to the iPods screen. Settings>General>Accessibility>Assistive Touch

  • The volume button on my ipod touch doesn't work unless headphones are plugged in?

    Hi there,
So I have had this ipod for a while now but just recently it's doing this thing where i can press the side volume buttons but they don't do anything unless the earphones are plugged in.  i have reset it a number of times and had it plugged into my computer to charge it completely and nothing works.   when i go to play music on the ipod without the headphones, the slider doesn't even show up...any suggestions??

Try restoreing the iPOd, first from backup and then to factory defaults /new iPOd if the problem persists.  If you still have the problem then you likely have a defective headphone jack.
In that case I would make an appointment at the Genisu Bar of an Apple store to confirm.

If after you charge it for about three hours and it only last about five minutes the battery is probably dead or there could be another hardware problem.  I would go back to the Apple store and ask them specifically how can it be OK if the fully charged battery only lasts five minutes.

  • The Home Button on My iPod Touch Isn't Working

A few weeks ago, my home button on my 4th Generation iPod Touch stopped working. I soon found that I had to press it at a certain part of the button for it to work (by part I mean the left right top and bottom corners). Then for a little while it was fine, but yesterday I had the same problem, and now it's not working at all, and closing all my apps didn't help. What can help my problem?
(if it helps, I do have a habit of pressing the button three times whenever I open it or leave an app, so I may have worn it out somehow)

    - Try here:
    fix for Home button
    - Try using the Assistive Touch accessibilty feature instead. See chapter 30 of the Users Guide

    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store and hear what they have to say.

  • Ok so when I try pressing the home button on the iPod it doesn't work.. and I have to press really hard on the home button to make the iPod go back to the homescreen. Is this a defect in the iPod because I have never dropped my iPod on the floor or anythi

    Wat should I do?
    Send it to apple?

Try each of the following to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset the iPod:
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore the iPOd from backup
    - Restore the iPod to factory defaults/new iPOd.
If still a problem you likely have a hardware problem.  An appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store would be in order.  If the iPod is within warranty you can call AppleCare.

  • All the outer buttons on my Ipod touch 4gen  stopped working

I hadn't had my iPod for a while so the amount of apps I had to update was crazy. I pressed update all and waited. I couldn't do much on the ipod cuz most of the good apps were updating. I waited for about 15 minutes and rechecked my ipod. Most of them were still updating. Only 3-4 had successfully updated. I was becoming restless so I started playing with my ipod. I opened an app and was using it for a while. I got bored and pressed the home button to exit the app but the home button wasn't working. I though it had just frozen. My ipod did that alot but recovered quite quickly usually. So I touched the screen and the app still worked. Nothing at happened to it. I tried the sleep button and that wouldn't work either. The volume buttons weren't working as well. I put it on my carging dock and left it there for a while hoping that the lock scrren would show up but it didn't and now I have no idea what to do. Apple Inc. isn't exactly helping me cux their lines are busy. The battery is full so I thought I might wait till the battery died and then charge the ipod and hopefully it would work again. Please help me!! I don;t know what else to do. All the buttons were working fine then they ALL stopped suddenly.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

a few days ago the volume and hold buttons doesnt work, some times it get fixed for a while, but few minutes later it get the same way before

    Try "restoring" your Touch.
    Restoring iPod touch
Make sure you have an Internet connection and have installed the latest version of iTunes from www.apple.com/itunes.
    Restore iPod touch:
1 Connect iPod touch to your computer. 2 In iTunes, select iPod touch in the Devices list, then click Summary at the top of
    the screen.
3 Click “Check for Update.” iTunes tells you if there’s a newer version of the iPod touch software available.
4 Click Restore. Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the restore process. When restoring, it is recommended that you back up iPod touch when prompted.
When the iPod touch software has been restored, you can either set it up as a new iPod touch, or restore your music, videos, app data, and other content from a backup.

  • Ipod touch doesn't work with latest itunes install

Ok, I've been around the block too many times. Somebody, pleez help! I have a 3rd generation ipod touch. Couldn't connect to itunes (previous install for our nano and classic). Uninstalled it. Downloaded fresh, latest, 64bit installation. Tons of problems with Apple Application Support. Uninstalled, reinstalled, uninstalled EVERYTHING (Quicktime, Bonjour, updater, etc.) Used Windows uninstaller and registry cleaner. Reinstalled - iTunes works. Great. Now I connect my iTouch and it says it needs iTunes 64bit to run it. I installed 64bit. What now?

Now I connect my iTouch and it says it needs iTunes 64bit to run it. I installed 64bit. What now?
In iTunes, with the Touch connected, go "Help > Run diagnostics." Uncheck "Network Connectivity tests" and "DVD/CD tests" but leave the other boxes checked. Click "next" and then "next" again. Paste the contents of your diagnostics into a reply here so we can have a look.
