My Mighty Mouse works like any other mouse (not a good thing...)

I came bac to my PowerBook a couple of days ago. The first thing I noticed was that my MightyMouse didn´t work properly. It scrolled superfast, and it didn´t help to slow down the speed i System Preferences either. Then I realised that the buttons on the side or the scroll-button didn´t work either...
So, then I started off by stopping USB-Overdrive that has a tendence to run in the backgrund and make problems. I really don´t know why I haven´t removed it earlier. But my point is that this didn´t help.
Then i tried to repair my diskpermissions that actually might help in some situations, but since I´m writing this now I think you can guess that it didn´t work either.
So, then i took the reboot that didn´t to much either. Then i created a brand new user-profile to check if it was anything in my specific profile that was wrong. It wasn´t. The Mighy Mouse didn´t work here either...
I posted i a Norwegian forum as well, and there i heard that some other guys had problems with their as well, and they had got their replaced by Apple, so I tought that i should use the Self-Service form that I have used earlier, but it seems to be gone. Anyone that have seen it?
Still, my real question is if anyone has any idea about what´s wrong here. The mouse isn´t old either, I bought it right before the summer holidays.
So, I´ll be very thankful for any tips that can help me here. It´s so much easier to fix it instead of having a one beeing shipped up to this polarbear-land from Apple...

Bang it kinda hard on your desk.... it helped with my scroll problem. no kidding! and when apple tells you they cant do anything it will relieve the tension. haha... try rebooting the computer with the mouse unplugged and plug it back in when it boots up. then try re-installing the drivers and see if there is a possible update. then call apple and complain for ~ 1 hour. Then get a replacement. good luck!

I am looking to buy a Creative Zen Sleek or Touch and need to know something. Do you need to use the software and drivers with it or does XP recognize it as a "removeable disk" like a flash dri've or like the ipod.

I'm guessing that WMP will work with the player irrespecti've of the firmware version.
I'm not sure where you bought your player, but in Europe they seem to have shipped with one version, whereas in the USA they seem to have shipped with another to support PlayForSure subscription downloads.
Perhaps a mod can confirm this, and whether Europe will get the PlayForSure firmware if this is the case?

After updating my iPad 2 to iOS 6, I cannot connect to my router.  I have turned the router off, left off for a considerable time, turned the iPad off and on, reset the network settings, nothing works.  Any other suggestions?  It is obvious many others are having similar problems, so the iOS 6 looks like a loser.

I have just upgraded from a 3 to a 4S and now I can't connect to my wifi. I've tried everything, resetting network settings, switching to boot, renewing lease, rebooting, turning off cellular data etc etc. nothing works!! Very frustrating!

If you have carefully follow ALL of the steps in that article, you are using a USB port directly on your computer and not a USB hub (don't use a front port on a tower or desktop either, as they are an internal hub) and you installed iTunes correctly using an Administrator ID and you have tried disabling your antivirus and firewall then there is no hope of it ever working. Look at the tip again, and go through it carefully, not skipping any steps.
Note, BTW, that an iPhone will not show up on a computer, only in iTunes. If there are photos in the Camera Roll then it will appear in Windows as a digital camera only.

    Do not worry about it.
Time Machine needs that your external drive is formatted in HFS+, or better known as "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)". This filesystem is used by Apple on Macs and Windows cannot read or write drives formatted with this filesystem, being this the reason why all your devices do not read the external drive except your Mac.
You can only use your external drive to make Time Machine drives. If you store anything different, you may damage the Time Machine structure, so it is better not to use it as a drive to store other data. Instead, get another external drive to do it or create a second partition on the external drive formatted in FAT32 by using Disk Utility > http://pondini.org/OSX/DU3.html FAT32 can be read by Windows PCs

  • Can the MacBook Air work with any other type of internet connection beside wifi?

Can the MacBook Air work with any other kind of internet connection besides Wifi?

Who? ITS VERY important when doing a restore, in fact you DO NOT want to do a wifi restore
The pros all have that Ethernet adapter,... that should tell you something. An Ethernet restore via that "thing" makes restoring the OSX about 8X faster.
Its called a Gigabit Ethernet adapter for a reason.
"who the heck" is anyone working with their Macbook Air at home and want a MUCH FASTER download / internet connection.
*Stockbrokers who pack their Macbook Air, arrive at work and plug that "hardwired" dongle to their Air........  because even seconds in the stock market can make the difference between losing a million $$, or making a million $$

Did you try to connect in recovery mode and restore without using the latest backup?

Did you try to remove the ipsw firmware file and restore, to make iTunes download a new copy from Apple?
    Those files are located here:
Rename, move, or delete the iOS software file (.ipsw)
iTunes uses "ipsw" files to restore your iPod or iPhone. If those files are unusable, then try deleting them, renaming them, or moving the file to a different directory. This will cause iTunes to download a new copy of the IPSW. When a restore issue is specific to a user, it is likely due to an unusable .ipsw file. If removing the .ipsw file does not resolve a user-specific restore issue, then the issue is caused by other user-specific security software settings or iTunes preferences. Creating a new user will also cause new .ipsw restore files to be downloaded in the new user. You can find the ".ipsw" files in these locations:
    Mac OS X
    iPhone
    ~/Library/iTunes/iPhone Software Updates
    iPad
    ~/Library/iTunes/iPad Software Updates
    iPod touch
    ~/Library/iTunes/iPod Software Updates
Note: The tilde "~" represents your Home directory.
    Windows 7 and Vista
    iPhone
    C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates
    iPad
    C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPad Software Updates
    iPod touch
    C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPod Software Updates

I tried all suggestions fo a grayed out wifi toggle and nothing seems to be working. Any other suggestions?

I had this problem last month.  I ended up having to get a new iPhone 4S.  It's a very, very common problem and in my opinion it should be covered by Apple for free since it is so popular and is an obvious hardware defect especially in the iPhone 4S.
So I suggest you order a new iPhone ($230 with no warranty) ($50 with Apple Care+).  And while you wait for your new iPhone to come you could back up your iPhone and try some of the YouTube fixs.  I put mine in a plastic bag (off with no air in the bag) in the freezer for 30 minutes, pulled it out, turned it back on, let the iPhone thaw out in the bag, and it then worked again for over a week before it died again.  But I would only try that if you knew you had a new iPhone on the way.  My cellular, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth all went out so I had nothing to lose.

My bluetooth suddenly stopped working soon after I upgraded to OS 10.9.4. I rebooted SMC, didn't work. Any other ideas? Don't know if it's related to the upgrade. I see other complaints about bluetooth in the thread but none of the solutions offered there have worked for me.

Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service provider. You may have to leave the machine there for several days.
Back up all data on the internal drive(s) before you hand over your computer to anyone. There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional—ask if you need guidance.
If privacy is a concern, erase the data partition(s) with the option to write zeros* (do this only if you have at least two complete, independent backups, and you know how to restore to an empty drive from any of them.) Don’t erase the recovery partition, if present.
Keeping your confidential data secure during hardware repair
Apple also recommends that you deauthorize a device in the iTunes Store before having it serviced.

To get rid of "pop-up ads and other crap on my computer when I am on the internet", click on Safari in the Menu bar, and select Preferences. Next select Extensions. Delete all of them. Restart Safari.
The first step in addressing the black screen is an SMC reset.
    Shut down the computer.
Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
Note: The LED on the MagSafe power adapter may change states or temporarily turn off when you reset the SMC.

Have "OK to Disconnect" frozen with low light backlit. Won't turn off or able see any files. Tried to reset, didn't work. Any other options other than restoring?

By a reset, I assume you mean pressing and holding both the Select (Center) and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear?  Is the hold/lock switch in the On position?
If you cannot get the iPod to reset, your only other option at this point is to just sit and wait for the iPod's battery to full drain.  Then charge it back up and restore in iTunes if necessary.
