My Mini Doesn't turn on

Please Help!!! My Ipod Mini doesn't turn on. The only way is to restart it(by holding select & menu). When I plug it into the computer it doesn't recognize it unless if its turned on. Plus ever since I got it in May '05 it skips after 5-10 minutes of use. To get it replaced what do i have to do and how much do i have to pay??? My waranty(the standard 1-year0 is still valid by the way.
1 more question! My mini has scratches on the screen and a few bump here and there if I sent it in to get repaired will that also be fixed. Plus the Hold Button doesn't work (It works like 1 out of 20 times I use it).
Please Reply!! I appreciate any help. Thanx for taking the time to read this.

My best guess here is a faulty battery. If I understand you right, the iPod will work on the computer IF you connect it and THEN reset it. I had that same phonomenon with my iPod Video when its battery had gone totally dry; it refused to charge or be recognized until I reset it WHILE connected to the computer. Also you said that you can get 5-10 mins of playtime before it goes nuts.
Call Apple. I fyou have a valid warranty, and it's only as old as May 05 (same age as my mini, and my battery is just fine), it's clearly defective. Apple has been under a LOT of heat about battery failures in the iPods, so lately they've been pretty open about just replacing it and getting it over with. If you have AppleCare, it depends on your coverage, you may not have to pay anything, or you may just have to pay some labor charges. Call Apple and ask them about this, I can't tell you because I don't know. LOL And my best guess is Apple would probably replace the scratched parts during a repair. iPods have had scratching issues ever since day one (anyone care to see my 1G iPod from 2002???! HAHA!).

  • IPad mini doesn't turn on

My iPad mini stopped working and it doesn't turn on anymore.... i did try to reset it and couple other thinks but nothing is working.. What can i do? Please help!

Did you try the reset in the following way?
    Device Reset (won't affect settings/data/music/apps/etc)
    1. Press and hold (& continue to hold) BOTH the Sleep/Wake button & the Home button.
    2. Continue to hold BOTH (ignoring any other messages that may show) until you see the Apple logo on the screen.
    3. Release BOTH buttons when you see the Apple logo and allow the device to boot normally.
Is the battery charged? Plug it into the charger and cable that came with the device and allow it to charge for an hour or so, then try to power it back on or perform the reset as indicated above.

Now you swipe downward, the app will appear and you delete, keep scolling to the right as in the past.  With the new operating system you also swipe downward to get the search bar to find an app

  • My iPad Mini with Retina Display doesn't turn on.

I have an iPad Mini with Retina Display and I have tried charging it every way I know how. I have a 13" MacBook Pro retina and that didn't charge the device nor did the original 10W charger that came with the iPad. Nothing works to charge it and it doesn't turn on. I don't recall the battery being anywhere near 0% the last time I used it either which also seems odd. Does anyone know why this could be happening or do I need to m

Plug your device into the original charger & block in a wall outlet and leave it alone for a couple of hours. Then, while it is still plugged in, restart it by holding down the home button and the power button for 10-15 seconds until you see the Apple, then let go.

Ask these people what Apps they've installed that provides those features. Once you find out 'buy' those apps, install them and configure them to notify you of that information.

...it's been doing this for a few days now. i'm positive the computer is not muted when i turn it off, and the internal speaker works when i play music through itunes. any ideas? thanks in advance.

Mine doesn't either. Don't think it's anything to worry about. Just a little less noise pollution, IMHO.

  • Thunderbolt Display doesn't turn

hi there, here is the issue, i got a MB-P 15" late 2013 (from work) and a TBH 27", recently doesn't turn on the display when the cable is connected, i have tried with others MBP from my mates, and is the same story, doesn't work, the charger cable if it works but the mini display port doesn't, ( funny thing is that light of the mouse turn off when the display port is connected).
    what could be the problem?

I am having a similar problem with a 15" MacBook pro with retina display.  I got it working once after resetting the SMC and the the PRAM (Internet search for instructions).  Howerver I have not gotten it to work again so I would be curious if this solves your problem.

  • Mac mini doesn't boot

    Hi,
My 2009 Mac mini doesn't boot anymore : all I get is a blank screen, I can't even chose to boot on the restoration drive.
From your experience, what do you think it could be linked with ? motherboard ? RAM ? It doesn't looke like a hard drive issue.
    Thanks
    Benoît

Hello! I'm having, what sounds like, the same issue.  Everything was working fine, until I ran a combined update, as prompted, for 10.8.2.  After the normal reboot, the computer boots to a plain, white screen with no Apple.  The computer is not responding to any keyboard command at startup, be it any of the reset commands, 'C' to boot to the optical drive, or option to select the startup destination.  When pressing the Caps/Num lock keys, I notice that none of the LED lights will turn on on the keyboard.  The piggybacked optical mouse is not showing it's red light from the bottom either.  These tested fine on my MacBook Pro, however, and have always worked with the Mac Mini.  Connecting and reconnecting the devices does not help.  I know how to run all of the hard disk repairs, the permission fixes, etc., but it appears as though something is stopping my USB devices from being utilized (or even powered) at startup.  I work in IT, and I support Apple computers every day (point being, I do know my stuff).
I opened the case and disconnected the hard drive from the logic board, thinking a potential hard disk issue is to blame.  Upon restart, I still get the BONG (chime), but the machine will still not respond to any keyboard commands.  Plugging in a USB stick that was created as a Mountain Lion boot device in Disk Utility with the InstallESD.dmg doesn't yield any results (as I am unable to 'tell' the computer to boot from it).  The system disc that was packaged with the Mini is in the optical drive, but the Mini won't boot to that either.  I'm at a complete loss.  This is a 2010 model which was purchased new in December in that year.  I'm using HDMI directly to an HDTV.  The cable is working, the TV is working, the optical drive works in another machine, and the hard disc makes the necessary sounds (but not anything out of the ordinary).
To reiterate, this happened IMMEDIATELY after installing the combined 10.8.2 update.  I am seeing a lot of posts about this issue, but no actual solutions.  The dialogue seems to die somewhere after, "Reset the PRAM."
    PLEASE ADVISE

  • Mac Mini Doesn't Power ON

While watching a movie, the mac mini suddenly switched OFF. I tried several times to turn it ON and tried different wall outlets but it doesn't turn ON.
Anyone knows what is this problem? does the mac mini have a power supply inside? and how to make sure it's not the adapter that was fried?

Since you posted in mini (2009), assume you have an Intel-based mini. Reset the SMC:
    1. Shut down the computer.
    2. Unplug the computer's power cord.
    3. Press and hold the power button for at least 5 seconds.
    4. Release the power button.
    5. Attach the computers power cable.
    6. Press the power button to turn on the computer.
If there's not a more serious problem, that should take care of things.

  • Monitor doesn't turn on

This has happened to me several times, and I've had to take my powerBook to the apple store, and send it in... and I'm STILL having problems!
Every once in a while, my screen starts acting up. I'll try to start the powerBook and the LCD screen simply doesn't turn on. It makes the startup sound, you can hear the HD and such running, but no monitor. So I hold the power key until it shuts off, and try again. Sometimes the monitor will kick in after 3 or 4 tries, but other times it won't turn back on for days, or sometimes not at all (thus I had to take it to the store and send it in).
Does anyone have any idea why it is doing this? I don't have the service plan any more and I still owe quite a bit (and as I have no parents any more, it's kinda hard to shell out money for it as it is).
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

MIne went blank as I posted a week ago. Sent it into Apple and within 78 hours turn-around whole it was back fixed. The repair sheet simply said "cable reseated." There is some cable that goes from the screen to the main machine and it gets loose. Don't know if this is your problem. I will look at teh repair and see what it says exactly.
BTW: After seeing the "MacBokk" today, man am I glad I bought my Powerbook a month ago! AP Extreme isn't even included. Oh well, the future is here but I am happy with what I have.

  • IPod doesn't turn on or do anything...

I have a 3rd Gen iPod Nano that hasn't been working for awhile and I'm trying one last ditch attempt before deciding to purchase a new product. It displays the following problems:
    - It doesn't turn on. It doesn't react to anything: connecting it to the computer (Mac or Windows), trying to Reset, moving the Hold switch, etc.
    - iTunes gives the following error message: "The iPod software update server could not be contacted. The server does not support this version of iTunes."
    - There is a "More Information" button on said error message, it takes me to this page: http://www.apple.com/support/iphone/updaterestore/?error=1478 This is a support page for iPhones and iPod Touch, a product which I don't have.
    - I have tried some of the solutions on this page: I have the latest version of iTunes, connecting it on a different computer (I can't recall what the computer said though), opening the ports to the Apple servers.
Is this iPod gone for good or has anyone ever encountered this issue?

Grawr!! Mines acting up the same way!! Who ever can help me I will bow before their feet. I miss my music, and I can't get a new I-pod because the warranty expired and I got it from a friend for my birthday.

  • MacBook Doesn't Turn On

It's a fact: my Windows PC doesn't freeze/crash as much as my MacBook does.
Just now my new MacBook froze up on me for the fith time in three weeks. Here's what happens: I shut down my MacBook the same way I always do, and then I close my MacBook's lid. I come back later to use my MacBook and realize that the "sleep light" is lit up. I open the lid and the sleep light fades away. I press keys and nothing happens, I move my finger across the trackpad and nothing happens, I press my clicker below the trackpad and nothing happens, I press and even hold the power button and nothing happens. I check the battery by clicking the battery button on the back of my MacBook each time, and never has it indicated that my battery was low (never has less than two out of five dots lit up). So the battery is not the problem here.
How I eventually get the laptop to start up is different every time. In the past pressing the keys over and over for a few mins seems to do the trick. Or holding power for a really, really long time. Today it didn't turn on until I held "option" and pressed power. Then I finally got a response, and my MacBook started up again.
And every single time I get the same message: "The computer was restarted after Mac OS X quit unexpectedly." I click "report" for more information and nothing ever pops up. Pity.
My guess is that when I try to shut down my MacBook, it occasionally doesn't shut down, for some reason. I'm guessing that the MacBook freezes up and goes into a deep-sleep mode or something... even though the screen turns black like it normally does after I shut down my MacBook. So then I walk away thinking my MacBook is shut down when in all reality it's semi-awake. It's irritating.
So that's mu dillema. My MacBook doesn't turn on... or perhaps it just never turns off. Because if it was fully off, there wouldn't be a problem turning it on. Haha.
Why is my MacBook doing this? Why can't it just shut down without a problem? What could be causing my MacBook to crash/freeze up at shut down like this?
    All help is greatly appreciated!
    MacBook 2.0Ghz   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Take your battery out and reset your PMU.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303319
Next time you shut down, wait until the computer is totally shut down -- i.e., make sure you don't hear your fan running, the screen is black and that the light is out on the front of the computer -- before you close the lid.
I had that exact thing happen once, and since I done the above, it's never happened since.

  • Mi N80 Doesn't turns on

    I really need help!!
It seems as though the software that was being installed into my N80ie may have been corrupt, thus it not finishing the install and my phone basically being dead right now. I was told I need the software for the phone reflashed on the phone and that I couldn't do this myself and needed to go to a service center. I would really appreciate any help, right now my phone doesn't turn on, charge, or make any indication that it even works at all. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY, GREATLY APPRECIATED!!
Here's a little background on what happened...
While updating my N80 (internet edition), the update was disrupted with a window that stated "Phone Recovery" and it stated for me to remove the battery and charger, then put it all back in and try and power on the phone. After this was done, it still didn't turn on.
What does this mean? Why did it happen? Now my phone won't power on or anything. When I hook up the wall charger to it, it won't even charge.
Nothing happens, it seems as though my phone is just dead. Can this be repaired? I did nothing to it while it was hooked up and randomly this happens, it just updated and then randomly the phone recovery window popped up. The update did not finish though, it was about 70% done. PLEASE, PLEASE HELP!!!
    Thank You.

I have exactly the same problem as you.....
    It happens to me yesterday.....
Please if you figured out how to bring your n80 to live.... please tell me....
    Check for this URL: /discussions/board/message?board.id=phones&message.id=20966#M20966
I tried this but nothing works... maybe your n80 is not as dead as mine...
