iPad running slow? How to speed up a slow iPad

If You Think iOS 7 Feels Slow Here’s How to Speed It Up
http://osxdaily.com/2013/09/23/ios-7-slow-speed-it-up/
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

Using the Mac with your iPad has nothing to do with the fact that the iPad is running slow. There could be any number of reasons why the iPad is now running slow.
Have you tried a reset on the iPad?
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

  • I upgraded the OS system on my 2011 mac mini.  It now runs very slow.  Do I need to increase the ram.  I only have 2 GB now.

My 2011 mac mini now runs very slow.  I have to wait on it to do basic things.  I only have 2 GB of ram.  It came with this amount and it fan fine for several years.  But I upgraded to the most recent Os system and now it runs slow.  What do I need?  More RAM?

I will upgrade to 8GB. Thanks for the advice.  Also have an older (2009) 24" IMAC and it also runs slow with the upgrade. It has 4 GB. I think I will replace it with a brand new 21 or 27 inch.  Thanks for the response.

That's one way to justify a new Mac. :-)  Adding more RAM to the 2009 model is cheaper, though (but I'm guessing not as much fun).

  • Safari is running very slow.  I have cleared cache, reset safari, and put in new DNS 208.67.222.220 runs worse now.

Safari is running very slow.  I have cleared cache, reset safari, and added DNS Servers 208.67.222.222.

Mac Mini connected directly to modem by ethernet cable.  Ipad loads same web pages much faster.  Again thanks for help.

Is too much of the system memory tied up? If so, what can I do to free some up?

I was getting support for my Office 2008 for Mac, and the support tech said my OS was very slow. I have latest update for Snow10.6.7. Question; How can I speed up my Macbook?

    Hi
In the first instance, I'd use Onyx and run through its sequence of maintenance and tune up tools:
    Verify, Maintenance, Cleaning.
I'd also reset the SMC and PRAM (Google them)
If that doesn't help then I'd look at System Preferences.. > Accounts > Login Items tab (not Login Options).  Check what processes get started at login and decide which ones you don't want.
After that I'd use Applications/Utilities/Activity Monitor to see if any processes are using a lot of computer power or if anything else nasty might be happening.
If none of this helped then my final step would be to reinstall OS X.

Why?My mac mini is incredibly slow, but I have plenty of memory available. My machine has 2.3 GHz Intel Core i5 processor and 2GB 1333 MHz DDR3 for Memory.  Any idea what I can do?

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
              View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then take an action that isn't working the way you expect. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.

  • Very slow Safari after IOS8 Iphone 5S

    Hello all
I live in Iraq, so basically internet here is very slow, however after installing IOS 8, Safari now is very very slow
I tried other browsers and they were a better
any one of you guys have similar issue ?

My iPad and iMac are really screaming after the update. My iPhone 4 is running more slowly. What's odd is that even with it right next to the AEBS it's running slow. The iPhone 4 is listed as 802.11 b/g/n in Airport Utility in the Advanced/Wireless Clients window. When it was running slow, the signal level was OK (actually good-about the same level as the iMac) but the noise was high so the signal to noise ratio was only between 12 and 20 dB. Also the rate was at 5 and staying there 9 (not sure what the rate number is but it was much smaller than all the others clients).
I turned WiFi OFF on the phone then back on again. When it came back, the signal to noise ratio was better (went to about 30-40 dB, and the rate went up to 58. Then after a few minutes, the signal to noise ratio went back to about 20 and the rate number dropped to 5 again.
I'm not sure what this all telling me exactly, but I agree the iPhone seems a bit slower. It's running quite a bit below my 60 day average for download and uplaod speeds - especially a ways away from the AEBS (new 5th gen). The other devices (iMac and iPad are performing as good and even a little better than their 60 day averages.

  • Mac is running very slow rainbow wheel is popping up all the time

mac is running very slow rainbow wheel is popping up all the time

This happened to my iMac a few months ago. Back-up your data then RUN, don't walk to your local Apple repair store, your internal hard drive is failing. They were not able to retrieve any data from the original hard drive; the fix was a new hard drive. I was told the hard drives are made to last 2-5 years. Mine was about 3 years. Good luck!

  • I have Iphone 4s, and the phone will activate itself again. How do I get changed Apple ID on my phone so that I get using the new username and password that is verified? I would like an answer as soon as possible ... Thank you very much.

I have Iphone 4s, and the phone will activate itself again. This I have verified, but when I shall put this onto my phone, so the phone will not approve the newusername and password. How do I get changed Apple ID on my phone so that I get using the new username and password that is verified? Silly to buy a new phone just for this .... The phone is almost three years old. How long can weexpect this to last? I would like an answer as soon as possible ... Thank you very much.

It sounds like your device might be in Activation Lock.  Is it asking your to enter in an Apple ID & password, but only showing you the first letter of the email address and then some dots? Example: j•••••@icloud.com?
If so, do you recognize that email?  Do you have an Apple ID that fits the same format?  If so, then go to www.cloud.com, log in with that Apple ID & password, and see if under Find My iPhone it shows this device.  If so, turn off the device, then remove the device from the list.

    Hi all
So I have lightroom on both my laptop and desktop and sync catalog through google drive.
I have been working on the desktop all week on edits of high res scan in lightroom.
Today i opened the program to find everything i have done for a week isn't there.
    Help.
I feel it has synced to the last time i opened on my laptop and lost what ive on on the desktop.
    any help much appreciated.

I have no idea what happened, why you are seeing what you are seeing.
My only guess at finding the missing work is to look under File->Open Recent on both computers.
I do know that if you aren't making regular backups of your catalog file, and relying on synchronizing catalogs from one computer to another via the cloud, you are living very dangerously, and now you are possibly going to pay the consequences of not making regular backups.

  • I just received the error message "Attempting to copy to the disk failed. The required disk cannot be found". When I try to sync my iPhone or iPad to iTunes. Anybody have any ideas? The sync worked yesterday.

  • Hi All! I have an iphone 4s. I want to buy an ipad but torn between wifi or wifi cellular. Can I use for sure, my iphone 4s as the wireless hotspot for my ipad if I get the ipad wifi only? And if yes, is the signal/connection good? Thank you.

Hi all! I have an iphone 4s. I want to buy an ipad but I'm torn between wifi or wifi+cellular because of the price difference. Can I really use my iphone 4s as the wireless hotspot for my ipad? If yes, is the signal good and fast? Thank you for your response.

    Yes you can if:
1: Your cellular provider offers a data tethering option.
2: You have subscribed to this option.
Speed will be as it is with your existing iPhone.
