My mini loses the mouse cursor when it goes to sleep

Since I upgraded to OS X 10.7, my MAC mini loses the mouse curson when it goes to sleep. I am able to use the mouse to "awaken" the system and get the home screen, but the system will not display the mouse cursor. The only thing thast will recover the mouse cursor is to reboot the syste,.

going to sleep means disabling the network connection to save power
so what you're asking is not really possible
unless you can change what going to sleep mean on your computer
in the power saving settings you may be able to set going to sleep to just turn off your monitor
because thats pretty much the only thing that can go to sleep if you still wish to use it over wifi

  • Get rid of the mouse cursor when on desktop touch devices

    Hi there,
    I'm using sap.ui.commons controls to build my application. However, this application will sometimes be used on touch devices like large touch screen HDTV connected to a desktop Windows PC.
    When clicking on a button, the button gets focussed. However, as clicking on a control moves the mouse cursor, too, the button gets a mouse over look and feel and the focus style applied.
    Is there a way to disable the mouse over events and style sheets for desktop controls in an easy way? I want to get a similar behaviour like using an application on a device without a pointer (like a tablet or smartphone). No mouse over, no focus.

  • How can I keep my iMac on the wireless network when it goes to sleep?

    I have a new iMac (from Santa) and when it goes to sleep, so does its wifi connection.  I use it for work and need to keep my instant messaging app open and running at all times, even when it's asleep. I also like to have all of my email waiting in the inbox when I come back to the desk.
    Is there any setting (or workaround) I can do to keep it connected even when it goes to sleep? I have a MacBook Pro that keeps its connection when it goes to sleep so can't figure out what's happening. Thanks in advance!

  • My brand new iMac loses its WiFi connection when it goes to sleep, does anyone have a proven fix?.

    I have a MacBook that is about 4 years old and a brand new iMac both are running the most up to date version of Lion.  My old MacBook has no issues; however, my iMac loses its WiFi connection every time it goes to sleep.  There are some discussions about this already out there but does anyone have a proven fix.  This is very frustrating.

    I was having the same problem for a long time.  I tried everything but nothing seemed to make it stay connected.  It was very frustrating.  I just got a new Airport Extreme.....bang!.....all better.  Problem gone.

  • How to get dimensions information to appear next to the mouse cursor when drawing/ making selections

    Hello,
    On a previous computer I used Illustrator for, when I would draw or make selections, next to the cursor in a small black box with white text, there would be the dimenstions information. It was similar to what you'd find in the Window>Info panel but simplified and would let you know how big the selection you're making is. I've looked all over the Preferences and can't find it. I can't tell if I was imagining it somehow or what, but I'm hoping someone knows what I'm talking about and knows where to find it. Thanks.

  • Wireless losses connection when it goes into sleep.

    I'm using a Linksys Wrt54g router. Not a major problem since all you have to do is click the Airport icon and restart but why do it does it do this? My iMac flat panel doesn't do it.

    I have the same problem at my school. I have about 50 eMacs (1.42) using OS 10.4.5 and I have 3 eMacs that lose the airport connection when they go to sleep. I have tried several things but can't find the problem. Each computer is in a different room and the other 3 computers in each room stay connected. Please help.

  • Need help - wifi gets disconnected when it goes to sleep mode - iOS 6, iPhone 5, WPA Enterprise

    Hi, I have read a lot of discussions regarding wifi gets disconnected when it goes to sleep mode on iOS 6, mainly on iPhone 5.
    Here is my configuration and it just keeps disconnecting wifi connection once it goes to sleep mode
    iOS 6
    iPhone 5 white
    Purchased on Nov 3
    Work wifi config: WPA Enterprise
    I tried to manual add the wifi but it did not work. I tried all except for upgrade to iOS 6.0.1. I had a call to Apple Support and the guy told me I could not trust everything i read from here (well, how dare he is!!!). But I did all I could think of, and read from here.
    I am with ATT and I do not have a receiption at all at work. I have to turn it to airplane mode, and use the wifi connection. I put my iPhone 4 with iOS 5.0 side-by-side to compare. My iPhone with iOS 5.0 DOES NOT disconnect the wifi connection when it goes to sleep mode; but of course, we all know, iPhone 5 with iOS 6.0 does
    Any helps would be so much appreaticated. I am considering to return the phone to apple store, and cancel my 2 yrs extended contract with ATT. I might think to get another one once they have the issue fixed. It is no point to have an expensive paper-weight at work while I can't use the celluare nor wifi connection.
    Thanks again,

    Hi ChrisJ4203
    I have tested it at home wifi tonight. My phone and my wife's iphone (both iPhone 5 with iOS 6.0) do the same.
    With cellular data on (aka airplane mode OFF) with WIFI ON
    Wifi icon replaced by ATT's LTE icon once the phone was waken up from sleep mode; but within 2 secs, the wifi connection got reconnected again.
    With cellular data OFF (aka airplane mode ON) with WIFI ON
    WIFI icon disappeared from the top bar after both phones were waken up from sleep mode. It took a while to reconnect to the wifi network (more than 10 seconds).
    On a separate note, after i rebooted my phone, i can see it does "searching" the ATT's signal, then it shows "No Service", then next second, it shows ATT with full bars and LTE icon.
    My question is, i have never noticed the "No Service" showing up from my iPhone 4. The "No Service" shows up on my wife's phone too. When I first got her phone and was doing the installation, I had noticed the cell signal dropped from full bars to no service, then within few seconds, it went back up. I have not had time to test on her phone again, but it is something I will be monitoring for. I wonder if anyone has similar experience like this.
    anyhow, any feedback on how to fix the wifi got disconnected while in sleep mode would be very helpful.
    thanks,

  • HP dropping connection when it goes to sleep.

    I am running Windows 8 and my new HP Photosmart 7520 keep dropping the wireless conection when it goes to sleep. I see posts all over the net. Has anyone figured out the problem yet. I've tried scan doctor, no help.

    Hi Swenn,
    I would recommend following the document below - although you can skip the print and scan doctor until later, as you've just tried it.

  • How to change the mouse cursor icon type when mouse moves out of client area ( propertysheet) WTL?

    I got stuck with an issue in property sheet .I want to load different cursor when the mouse position is within the client area and load another when moves out of the client area.
    In the porpetysheet I added four page. In the first page when I click next I am loading cursor of IDC_WAIT type and loading IDC_ARROW when the mouse moves out of the client area.
    In the page class I triggered the event for WM_MOUSEMOVE as follow:
        MESSAGE_HANDLER(WM_MOUSEMOVE, OnMouseMove)
    LRESULT OnMouseMove(UINT /*uMsg*/, WPARAM /*wParam*/, LPARAM /*lParam*/, BOOL& /*bHandled*/)
    if(TRUE == m_bIsNextBtnClicked)
    ::SetCursor(LoadCursor(NULL, IDC_WAIT));
    else
    ::SetCursor(LoadCursor(NULL, IDC_ARROW));
    return TRUE;
    This event is getting triggered and absolutely had no issue with this. Similarly I tried adding `MESSAGE_HANDLER(WM_MOUSELEAVE, OnMouseLeave)` this event making an assumption that this will get triggered if the mouse moves out of the client area,  but
    this event did not get triggered at all.If this is not the mouse event to be triggered for mouseleave which event should I trigger?
    LRESULT OnMouseLeave(UINT /*uMsg*/, WPARAM /*wParam*/, LPARAM /*lParam*/, BOOL& /*bHandled*/)
    ::SetCursor(LoadCursor(NULL, IDC_ARROW));
    return TRUE;
    Now when I click Next button , **I was actually calling a function which is taking sometime to return** . Before to this function I am loading IDC_WAIT cursor i.e.,
     `::SetCursor(LoadCursor(NULL, IDC_WAIT));` .
    Now when move the mouse cursor on to the non-client area I want to load IDC_ARROW cursor i.e.,
        ::SetCursor(LoadCursor(NULL, IDC_ARROW));
    When the moves on to the non-client area I am handling the mouse event in sheet derived class as follows,
    MESSAGE_HANDLER(WM_NCMOUSEMOVE, OnNCMouseMove)
    LRESULT OnNCMouseMove(UINT /*uMsg*/, WPARAM /*wParam*/, LPARAM /*lParam*/, BOOL& /*bHandled*/)
    ::SetCursor(LoadCursor(NULL, IDC_ARROW));
    return 0;
    This event is not getting triggered until unless the function in the Next button event is executed.
    I want both of them to be done in parallel i.e, click Next button now hover mouse on the client area, Busy icon should come and when mouse moves out of the client area then IDC_ARROW icon should come.
    LRESULT OnWizardNext()
    ::SetCursor(LoadCursor(NULL, IDC_WAIT));
    m_bIsNextBtnIsClicked = TRUE;
    BOOL bRet = MyFun();
    m_bIsNextBtnIsClicked = FALSE;
    //Until this function(MyFun()) is executed **WM_NCMOUSEMOVE**
    //event is not getting triggered.But this event should get triggered and I
    //should be able to see the change of cursor within and out of client area.
    Can anyone kindly help me to solve this issue.

    I am using Firefox 16.0.1 on a macbook pro using 10.7.5 software.
    When I access a picture directly, I am unable to advance the photo forwards or backwards using the mouse/cursor or the arrow keys. The same is true if I use an external mouse.
    If I use Safari as the browser, I don't have this issue.
    This problem just started a couple of days ago.
    All had been working fine.

  • The mouse cursor doesn't go away when you are working

    Okay, so the problem is that the mouse cursor doesn't go away when you select a tool. It turns into a mouse cursor with a precision cursor as an attachment. I have been all over the internet and the manuel and can't figure out how to get my regular cursor back TT^TT.

    What happens when you press the Caps Lock key?  Do you get a combination mouse cursor and brush size cursor?
    Cursor problems often involve the display driver, and can also be a result of using a large text size setting in Windows.
    Visit the web site of the maker of your video card and see if there's a newer version of the display driver available to download and install.
    It doesn't sound exactly like what you're seeing, but if the display driver update doesn't help, check this knowledge base article:

  • Hide mouse cursor when typing is not working in IE11 Windows7

    Hide mouse cursor when typing is not working in IE11 Windows7 - I saw a post that devs were looking at this in 2011? Slow progress huh?
    This is really annoying when you have to move the cursor to see what you are typing...

    Hi,
    Please first make sure that Mouse Properties\Pointer options\Hide pointer while typing is ticked.
    If this option is already ticked, then try following steps to troubleshoot:
    Update the driver for the mouse to get the best performance.
    Choose a different cursor as Rob said for a test.
    If this issue occurred recently, check if you have any newly installed programs or IE add-ons which cause this issue, you can test this in no add-ons mode, click start button, type "internet" in the search box, choose "internet explorer (No add-on)".
    * I test in My IE, I have Hide pointer while typing checked, and in some typing boxes in IE the cursor will hide automatically, while some are not, but I think it's not an annoying issue for me.*

  • Making the mouse cursor invisible.

    I am currently in the deployment phase of software made for two touchscreen kiosks.
    When moving the applications over to these kiosks I realized that we needed to make the mouse cursor invisible.
    I have tried the
    Cursor cursor = new Cursor();// ALthough i was unable to find a cursor constant that gave me an invisible pointer.
    testFrame.setCursor(cursor);
    Any ideas how I could remove the pointer from view alltogether?

    Toolkit tk = Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit();
    Image image = tk.getImage("yourPicture.gif");
    Cursor invisibleCursor = tk.createCustomCursor(image, new Point(0,0), "invisible cursor");I usually use a 1 x 1 transparent gif.
