My mini's fan murdered its host - help!

Okay, so I guess this is a 2005 Mac Mini, using...Tiger, I believe? Anyways, it had been running pretty badly for a while (very slow, fan always going) but didn't seem in terrible danger as it was. I was backing up my files, irony of ironies, when all of a sudden the fan kicked itself up to a maximum, the screen went black and the computer died. Attempts to turn it back on were unsuccessful - not a sign of life anywhere. I put it away for a while, hoping that someday I'd get around to saving the files on it, but today I took it back out, thinking that its long nap might have done some good or something. When I plug the power supply in, the fan starts churning away again, but the computer IS NOT ON. What's going on here?

More likely a component on the logic board murdered the rest of the Mini.

Unfortunately, unless you can do board-level repairs (pretty much a lost art these days) the standard fix is to replace the logic board, which is generally not economic.

I just did the repair as you suggested. T ran the disc repair, and twice it cam back, the volume macintosh seems ti be okay, I also ran the verify and permissions repair, both came back okay.
I was actually hoping that they would find something, so they could repair. I shut the computer down, and restated with out holding a key, and I started up great. I'm baffled. I have moved 20 GB to an external hard drive, as I only had 10% open space.
I have Tech Tool 6, would you recommend to run a repair check on that, or just leave well enough alone.
I agree with you on the new Mac's, I have problems with no disc for back up, until they realize their mistake I will stay with Snow a Leopard. This is the first problem I have experienced, so I can't complain. Their last programs are not as perfected as under Steve, prior to his handling over the reins, hope this is not going to be the future we can expect from Apple.
I will wait to here back as to your suggestion regarding the Tech Tool check

Is it lost or stolen?
Apple (and no one else) can not assist (with serial number or iCloud) in finding a lost or stolen iPad.
Report to police along with serial number. Change all your passwords.

I'm sorry to hear you are having issues with your iPhone.
The article below will provide some troubleshooting steps for this issue:
iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting
Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIs and corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 15 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged. Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.

Try this - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. Have you tried logging out and back into your account on the iPad and seeing if they are then recognised ?
If that doesn't work, then try going here and click on 'Manage My Account' and sign in to your account. Then on the left-hand side select the 'Password and Security' section and see if you can update your questions/answers.
If you can't change them there, then underneath the security questions is there a link to have a 'reset email' sent to your Rescue email address ? If there is then click on it.
