My MobileMe expired , I can't send
I can't send and receive email since yesterday , it says that my account has expired , does this have something to do with the coming of iCloud? How can I revive my account ? Do I need to pay for another subscription ? Where & how ?
You'll need to contact Apple Support. They were supposed to extend your MobileMe subscription without charge. My subscription was up for renewal in June. Instead, I received an email from Apple informing my subscription would be renewed at no cost until the Cloud. Once iCloud is up and running, you'll have the option to pay for services that were included in MobileMe.

On two iPads, mobileme mail gets stuck on 'sending'. It periodically will say that smtp.me.com failed. I've tried deleting the account to no avail. I can receive email and browse the internet no problem.
Possibly related, I upgraded my router to a Time Capsule at about the same time this started happening, but I can't be sure it is the problem. I have an iMac on the same wireless network that can send email from the same address.I don't think it would make sense that the router would haveanything to do with it. I am having the same issue, but only from the Mac Mailapp. My iPad and iPhone have no issues sending Mail. For whatever reason, theapp couldn't send mail the day of Apple's announcement of iCloud and theclosing of MobileMe. It shouldn’t affect it because MobileMe will still bearound until next year but I still think it’s a little weird.

I have a mobileme account and I can both send and receive just fine on my iMac. I have a first gen iPhone with 2.2(5G77) firmware. I can send from another gmail account on my iPhone but not the mobileme account. When I attempt to send and email with the mobile me account on both the edge network or any wifi network I get the following error message:
Cannot Send Mail
The connection to the outgoing server "smtp.me.com" failed.
My smtp.me.com settings are greyed out but the server is in the ON setting. I have Use SSL - ON and I am using Server Port 587
I can receive mail on the mobile me account just fine. Please help
Thanks
NickI had not tried any of them. I just deleted my mobileme account, powered off and on my phone and then reinstalled my mobileme account. Everything works fine now. Thanks for waking me up

Can't send calendar invites with mobileme sync ?
Hi,
I have an iPhone with OS 3.0, I'm using MobileMe to sync Calendars and Contacts with my Mac over the air and it's working well.
One of the new features for OS 3.0 for MS Exchange was to be the ability to send calendar invites from the phone - something not possible in 2.0.
However unless I'm mistaken it is still impossible to send calendar invites with MobileMe directly from the phone ?
If I then go into iCal on the Mac and add invitees to the event that was created on the Phone, iCal can send invites, and when I check back on the phone it now shows the invitees and whether they have accepted or not, but now the Edit button is gone for this calendar entry making further edits from the phone impossible, including even deleting the event.
Huh ?
It seems crazy that the phone is able to display the invite status but can't edit it, especially if that feature is now available with Exchange. Or have I missed something ?
Regards,
SimonHmm,
Well you can accept calendar invites on the iPhone since 2.0 if you're using Exchange, but 3.0 added the ability send calendar invites from the phone with Exchange.
If you can't send or receive calendar invites by MobileMe it kind of puts a lie to the "MobileMe is exchange for the masses" comment from the keynote speeches doesn't it Maybe in 3.1 we'll see it, and maybe in 3.1 we'll be able to Sync Notes by MobileMe as well cough.

How can I send email using two different email address that both link back to my one exchange account on my Ipad mini?
On my PC I simply have a master return email address and use a POP for the secondary address. Both are through the one exchange account without a problem. I need to be able to do the same on my Ipad.Ah, I should have made that clear. My domain didn't come from google. It was purchased at and is hosted at dreamhost, but I haven't used their email servers in years - I just route everything through gmail. I actually have a bunch of domains (with websites).
Gmail has an option that lets someone with custom domains send (and receive) email through gmail using the custom domain once Google confirms proper ownership of the domain (to prevent spammers and such). Gmail has a setting for "send email as" which allows gmail to be sent using a custom domain as the sender. I'm pretty sure Apple's old mobileme had this feature too, but I didn't use it. -
Can I send email using my own domain address with iCloud the way I can with gmail?
Let's say I own mydomain.com and have a [email protected] email account. I have set that up to forward to gmail, and that would be easy to switch to iCloud. Here's the tricky part: gmail allows me to send email as [email protected] I've been doing this for years and it works, but I'd like to switch from gmail to iCloud. Can I set up this same behavior with an iCloud @me.com address (which I already have but haven't been using yet)? I know I can obviously switch the forwarding of incoming mail to my @me.com address... but can I send [email protected] email through iCloud the way I can with gmail? All of my devices are Apple: a Mac Mini using Apple's Mail app, and an iPhone and an iPad both using the Apple email app, so I'd rather switch everything over from gmail to iCloud.
P.S. Awe, c'mon Apple. Don't turn those fake addresses into links. I just used them for the sake of giving an example.Ah, I should have made that clear. My domain didn't come from google. It was purchased at and is hosted at dreamhost, but I haven't used their email servers in years - I just route everything through gmail. I actually have a bunch of domains (with websites).

Can't send mail on iOS 5 devices with iCloud
A long time ago I signed up for a .Mac trial to use that address with iChat. The trial expired, and, as expected, the address continued to work with iChat, though it no longer functioned as an email address. It then came to be my Apple ID. Now, having set that Apple ID up for use with iCloud, my iOS devicess are having trouble sending, and only sending email from my iCloud address. The reason is this: I logged into <username>@mac.com for iCloud (as that's my Apple ID), and everything set up right except the mail address that iOS Mail thinks I have. It thinks the mail address for the iCloud account is <username>@mac.com. When I send mail to <username>@me.com, my iOS devices get it just fine, but when I try to send mail back, it tries to send it from the @mac.com address, and therefore fails as that is not a valid email address.
I've tried to go into the settings and change the email address that it uses for iCLoud, but with no luck. I see a place to change it, but it is grayed out and won't let me select it and bring up a keyboard to change it.
Is there any way to tell it that it assumed the wrong email address for my iCloud? Or is there no way to send iCloud email from my iOS devices?
Thanks in advance!
P.S. I can send mail via iCloud from the web app and from Apple Mail (OS X Lion), but not from iOS devices because of this glitch. I can also send mail from iOS devices using other email accounts (Gmail, Yahoo).I found a work around that works. Got to Settings...Icloud....account......advanced....outgoing mail server.....
Add an "other" server.
Host Name p01-smtp.mail.me.com
Put in your me.com email address as username and your Apple ID password
SSL is on
Authentication is password
Server port 587
This worked for me.....I will use this until the bug is fixed. (you may need to use p02, p03 etc) Don't make this server your primary. Leave it in "on" status in the other category.
Good luck -
In my iPad 2 with IO6 today I can not send emails from my gmail account, they go to the outbox directly...why? How can i solve this problem? ..I restarted the IPad but the problem was not solved. Please help.
Greetings,
Questions:
1. What version of the Mac OS are you running (Apple > About this Mac)?
2. What version of the iOS are you running (Settings > About)?
3. Do you use MobileMe/ iCloud or another server based sync solution like Google or Yahoo?
4. Do other changes to synced information like Address Book content sync successfully back and forth?
Based on your description it sounds like you have a 1 way sync issue. Events sync fine between the iOS devices and fine from the computer to the iOS devices but not from the iOS devices to the computer.
Try:
Backup your computer and iOS devices before doing anything else:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1427
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1766
Ensure all the devices in use are fully up to date: Apple > Software Update / Settings > General > Software Update
Make separate backups of critical data:
Backup your computer Addressbook: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=AddressBook/4.0/en/ad961.html
Backup your computer iCal: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2966
Reset syncing on your Mac: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1627
Reply back if that does not resolve your issue.
Hope that helps. -
I regularly send photo files up to 10mb but now I can't send any files unless they are very small.
I am able to send via Outlook so it must be a problem with Thunderbird.OK, the provider is TalkTalk

Is anyone else having problems with the email? I am not receiving any emails, nor can I send anything out. Spent 30 minutes on online chat last night with someone most unhelpful, only to be told that the reason I'm not receiving anything is because my email is being forwarded to another address. I set my preferences to do that several years ago when this mac.com/me.com server began having so many issues, to ensure I was receiving email so I could check from my other address. The only comment I got was well, we no longer support 10.4.1 so there isn't anything we can do to help you. The status update says 33% of their customers are unable to migrate. So I'm pretty sure I'm not alone and that is a pretty large base of customers to no longer provide support to. Is anyone else who has not migrated to iCloud experiencing these email problems? Currently my iDisk works to transfer my larger files, but my email does not.
Hello, here's the fix I think...
I think they're slowly nudging people to switch, .mac & MobileMe are going away about July, may as well set it up now.
I understand .mac mail will still come through.
iCloud Mail setup, do not choose .mac or MobileMe as type, but choose IMAP...

Can't send email with SMTP servers
Not sure if I have the right SMTP server but I'm using mail.1xbell.ca and have also tried smtp.bellaliant.net. I can receive fine but can't send. It just times out. Tried it on 3G and WIFI.
I'm using Aliant in Newfoundland, Canada for my email and the phone is with Telus. The tech dude at Aliant wouldn't tell be dick all because the phone is with another carrier even though my email is with Aliant.
Any suggestions in getting this fixed? If the email account provider for the email account is not the internet service provider associated with the wi-fi network your iPhone is connected to at the time and the email account provider for the email account does not have an authenticated SMTP server, you won't be able to send with the account - unless you have access to the ISP's SMTP server being used for your internet connection at the time.
As already provided, most if not all ISPs block the use of SMTP servers that are outside of the ISP's network or that isn't provided by the ISP being used for your internet connection at the time unless the SMTP server is authenticated.
A MobileMe account is my primary email account which has an authenticated SMTP server and I've never had a single problem sending with the account from my iPhone over the last 3 years regardless my internet connection at the time - various wi-fi networks with different associated ISPs or when connected to AT&T's cellular network.
Having an account with an authenticated SMTP server is the key. -
I am suddenly having trouble sending mail. I've checked my settings through ATT, they are correct and used their connection assistant which comes up as a green light. I'm receiving mail but just can't send it. They suggest delting the account online, but then I would lose everything.
I have one main account and 3 sub-accounts, same problem with all of them. I have also run disc repair and the iMail troubleshooter and tried re-installing mail, but my iMac won't let me.
I have an iMac bought in 2007 with intel, running Snow Leopard and 3 Gigs RAM.I have an error that says it can't connect to port 537 TSL because it's an ssl. I have ssl selected. It happens with replyies as well as new messages.
This is a copy of the connection doctor detail:

HT1752 I can not send mail with my powerbook g4 running tiger
I can not send/receive mail using tiger 10.4.11. Can anyone help?
Hello Gerry, who is the Mail provider, the part after the @ sign?
Plenty of problems of late with AT&t, Yahoo, and dot mac/MobileMe, but some possible fixes for the last one. * -
RE: Can't send mail with iCloud from Mac
OK so you have made everyone using a mobileme account switch to iCloud- I still use the mail icon on my Macbook Pro and every now and then
the server quits and does not allow me to send emails. I run the server doctor and only my address gets the green light. The smtp.me.com: my username
is always red. I have checked my user name and made sure my password is correct and still I m locked out of sending emails. I have time sensitive work that I need to send it to clients and there is nothing more frustrating than having to tell a client, I can't send an email right now. What can be done for this.
Here is what the details have to say:

maybe you can figure out why I can't send any email and possibly help me to fix the problem. I m not a fan of iCloud it has been nothing but a headache and I am tired of having to put my clients off. I am loosing money thanks to all of this.
Sweeney GraphicsIt's a bad idea to post your email address - it's an invitation to spam - and I've aasked the Hosts to remove it.
The first thing to try would be to sign out in System Preferences>iCloud, then sign back in again and check 'Mail' and any other data types you need in the list. This will set Mail up, hopefully correctly.
If you are still having problems accessing or sending mail go to http://appleid.apple.com and change your password, making sure that it complies with Apple's requirements: at least eight characters, of which at least one must be a numeral and one a capital letter.
Note that iCloud does not interact with any other email service. You cannot use it to check other email accounts, and you cannot send using its smtp server with any address other than your @me.com one as the 'From' address.
You should be able to set up other accounts separately in the Mail application: these would be unaffected by iCloud in any way. -
Can anyone help[ me to reset the mail setting on my mac book. Ever since my move the icloud I can't send or receive mail from my account, only from icloud?
Many thanks.
IanGreetings Ian,
Lion is required for iCloud which is a bit of information they tell you when you do the migration from MobileMe to iCloud: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4759
Because you are using an older version of OS X, Mail is attempting to talk to the old MobileMe mail servers when iCloud is on a different set of servers.
You will have to reconfigure Mail to use the new servers.
Go to Mail > Preferences > Accounts
Click on the MobileMe account listed on the left.
Go to Advanced and remove the check mark for "enable"
Click the plus sign at the bottom left and add a new account
Enter in your full @me.com e-mail address and then the password
Hold down the "option" key on your keyboard and click the "continue" button (this allows you to manually enter e-mail server information)
For "account type" choose "IMAP"
Fill in the rest of the fields following http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4864
Assuming all your information is present and you can send and receive you can return to Mail > Preferences > Accounts and remove the old MobileMe account.
Hope that helps.
