My mom has a brand new Macbook Pro which was set up at the Apple store and now she cannot get it to accept her login.  What can she do?

My mom has a brand new Macbook Pro which was set up at the Apple Store and now she cannot get it to accept her log in info.  What should she do next?

Thank you sig--it seems in talking to her on the phone that she was not giving me the info correctly and she couldn't get into her bank account, NOT the computer.  The computer is fine she was just frustrated with the bank's system and feeling alone with no help handy...
I appreciate your reply.  Thank you.

  • HT5479 My brand new ipod nano is no longer connedting to my brand new jbl wireless speaker. It worked fine the first day and now either cannot find the apeaker or the connection "fails."  Any advice?

I bought my dad a new ipod nano and a jbl wireless speaker from the same apple store. Everything worked perfectly with the bluetooth connectivity the first day. Then my dad accidentally hit the "forget this device" button when he was trying to turn the bluetooth off. Now the nano either does not recognize the device or it will recognize the device but not connect. I would appreciate any advice.

Does it charge on a computer? Does it appear in iTunes?
    If so:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

It's new and under warranty. That's the reason to go to the Apple Store.

  • HT201364 BRAND NEW MACBOOK PRO 2013 - WON'T DOWNLOAD MAVERICK'S FROM STORE

I have just Purchased a brand new Macbook Pro 2013 from Apple store and it won't let you download Maverick's even thought it's already installed.  Does anybody know why?  I originally purchased a Macbook Air 2013, which I returned for the pro model.  This came with Mountain Lion, which the app store let me download Maverick's from the app store.  I could also download as a backup in case something went wrong.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
You have got a Late 2013 MacBook Pro.
That MacBook Pro needs a special OS X Mavericks version that is newer than the Mavericks version available in the Mac App Store. This is the reason why the Mac App Store does not let you download Mavericks even if you are using OS X Mavericks.
To reinstall OS X Mavericks, use OS X Recovery > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4718 You will not be able to download OS X Mavericks from the Mac App Store until Apple launches OS X 10.9.1

  • Now who has a brand new MacBook Pro Core 2 Duo?

    Hi,
Keep checking each week or so for experiences with the new MacBook Pro Core 2 Duo.
Please let me know how things are working, whether you went 5400 or 7200 internal, pros and cons, size of screen (15" or 17"), etc...
Got my eyes on a 17", but don't know which internal to do.
    Thanks!

david, to be perfectly honest I think the primary advantage of the trio is its convenience. no fuss, well thought out monitoring. a dumbed down (in terms of controls) compression and EQ section on the mono mic preamp strip. easy to use talkback, monitor switching and 2 separate headphone amps.
the compressor and EQ do sound nice, the circuitry is lifted from their high end gear, but it's more intended just for getting a decent sound easily and quickly, I'm sure some corners were cut. the EQ bands are preset, the compression control is one knob (plus gain as another way to drive it), but it's a variable mu compressor design so it's normal that there's no threshold and attack/release settings. for what it is, it sounds nice, and I have on occasion chosen to use it over the avalon 737sp because it had the sound I wanted. it sounds good, but as a vocal producer I'm sure you know that for precision work, if its compressor and EQ don't let you tune in to just the right sweet spots in your source due to only having a single preset variable mu threshold/attack/release curve and preset HF and LF EQ, then it won't cut it on that day. you'll need more precise control.
that said, you can bypass its comp/eq by inserting another one, so if you have your fancy rack of golden preamps and channel strips you use for single mic recording, you can stick that in the chain and just benefit from the trio's nicely implemented ease-of-use and record away using all the glorious sounding input and control you get on the channel strip of your choice.
I've found the sound of its converters pretty good too. I haven't A/B'd it with a rosetta or with a digi 192 but I doubt it is in either of those leagues. still, it's clean. stereo field is good.
what would you be looking at it for exactly? if it's for your idea sketchpad setup I'd say check one out, no hesitation. for that kind of use it could hardly be better. and as I mentioned above, you can effectively swap out its channel strip for the best one you have, so it can also be used for tracking of material that you will still be pleased with taking through to mix stage, for those days you aren't tracking in a 2000 dollar a day studio. even the internal comp/EQ is good enough for this if its tuning happens to gel with your source.
one thing I have noticed though is that it's not the quietest pre in terms of hiss. not talking anything as horrible as say the cavernous white background noise of the worst mixer ever made, the yamaha pro 1? I have banished the name from memory.... it's just a subtle thing, comes up more obviously when you wind in HF EQ, obviously.. not even a real issue for rock/pop/dance vocals, maybe more so for recording your favourite baritone at carnegie hall, but you wouldn't really be bringing a small all in one tracking/monitoring box to a session like that anyway, it wouldn't pass dress code. and again, the channel strip is bypassable for a better one anyway, so bye bye to its sound, hello to the sound of your choice.
as for build quality etc, well I think it feels a bit more solid than it looks in photos. although once or twice I had to switch it off and back on again cos the sound died, on a very hot day in a very not airconditioned room.
anyway there you go. if you want better advice, tell me what you actually would want to use it for and I'll tell you what I think. an RME may be a better idea depending on what you need.
btw had a look at your site. looks like you've done your share of nice work. I'd love to play you some of my vocal production work some time (part of me wants to be a vocal producer when I grow up). are you based in LA? I'll likely be there at some point in the new year on a project, always a pleasure to meet fellow music heads.
    take care,
    antonio

  • Setting up new macbook pro ,want to transfer music on existing Apple id and then set him up with a new one for future purchases ,can itunes play music from both accounts on one user account?

Title says it all really, son has until now used our itunes account,in future will want to build up own but wants obviously to have access to past musuc/books etc.I was thinking authorise new macbook with existing apple id ,transfer music ,then set up new id for future,if he wants to play old music he will have to log in under old account.
Also want to link to icloud but this will need to be the new id presumeably because you are not allowed to change the computer, does this mean it will only back up the stuff from new account?

I have tried the method of authorizing my computer and then initiating transfer purchases method yet my purchases were not transfered. I was told Apple can put your purchases in a certain place for you to retrieve them in your I-tunes account.
Is there any way you can help me with this problem?

  • How do i get the latest version of safari on my macbook pro? where is this in the apple store??

How do I get the latest version of safari on my macbook pro?

    Upgrading to Yosemite
You can upgrade to Yosemite from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Yosemite can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for FREE.
    Upgrading to Yosemite
To upgrade to Yosemite you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Download Yosemite from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Yosemite is free. The file is quite large, over 5 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.

  • My MacBook Pro was restored recently at the Apple Store. Now I can't sync my iPod Classic to iTunes. I want to load all music and videos from my iPod back onto iTunes. It tells me that everything form my other libraries will be erased....

Now I can't add all my files from my Ipod back to my itunes. I get a message telling me that all my files on my Ipod will be deleted and synced with another Itunes library. Since the restore, I now have a new library with about 25 new songs, but nothing from before which is still on my Ipod. Please help me. Everything I've found by Google isn't much help.....

Your iPod is designed to sync with only one iTunes library at a time.  It will recognize the iTunes library on the PC as a new library.  If you sync the iPod with this new library, all content will be erased from the iPod and replaced with what is in the new library.  So what you will want to do is copy everything from the iPod to your new iTunes library on your PC first.
See this excellent user tip from another forum member turingtest2 outlining the different methods and software available to help you copy content from your iPod back to your PC and into iTunes.

  • Brand new macbook pro 2012 (no retina display) 95% battery health with 5 cycles? is that okay?

I know, another battery related question. I have recently bought a brand new macbook pro (no retina display), I calibrated the battery at least twice since Ive had it and it states that I am at 95% battery health with only 5 charges. Is that normal or should I bring my macbook in to be checked? Id like to get this settled before school starts in September since I depend on my macbook a great deal.
    thanks !

    Full cycle? 100%, of course.
How you get there is another matter. It can be a battery killing full discharge that will certainly ensure a brief life. Or a leisure set of discharges down to 20%, 30% or more. When they all sum up 100%, winner! You've got a cycle!!
Apple recommends you enjoy your Mac and don't obsess too much on battery stuff. Just exercise the electrons every so often by bringing it down to, say, 20% and charge it back up. Going all the way down to the bitter end, when the Mac forces itself to sleep is sort of ok too and won't do (too much) damage, provided you don't make it an engrained habit. We all forget the power brick occasionally and get caught out in the wild with whatever charge was left inside.

  • I opened my brand new MacBook Pro the other day and noticed a straight green line from top to bottom near the center of the screen. What is it from and how do I get rid of it????

I am having a problem with my brand new MacBook Pro. After opening my laptop the other day I noticed a straight green line from top to bottom near the center of the screen. What is this from and how do I get rid of it? It is most annoying. Please Help!

"What is this from and how do I get rid of it?"
Such symptoms bode serious hardware issues and you shouldn't think about fixing it yourself when you are still in waranty. Get to an Apple Store, like the other poster suggests.

  • Brand new macbook pro retina - fan noise when running hola?

Hi everyone, I need some help here please!
I have a brand new macbook pro retina 13 - just bought in January this year - and have had no problems so far apart from the wifi dropping occassionally.
So I just downloaded hola unblocker for firefox but whenever I stream anything using it on netflix my fan starts whirring so loudly - it's never even made a noise before! and I can feel the base of the mac getting hotter. So I've closed hola/firefox and it stops after a minute or so. I've tried a few times again with the same problem.
I'm just using it to watch US netflix so probably not technically legal anyway.... but other friends manage it no bother - do mac's just know I'm doing something wrong? haha
    Thanks for any advice.

Try running Activity Monitor (in the Utilities folder). Click the Energy button at the top and then stream a video. Watch the Energy Impact.
I suspect what you'll see is that your rMBP is doing a lot of work while you're streaming the video, and that makes it get hot. The fan struggles to dissipate the resulting heat in order to prevent damage and makes noise in the process.
It may also have a guilty conscience.
