My monitor is not recognized correctly before I'm logged in.

I have a Dell U24H14 monitor. Connected with a Mini DP to DP port cable.
In preferences I've set the monitors to extends. Not duplicate. This is al working just fine.
BUT:
When I boot my MacBook, with the monitor connected, half way during the boot process, when the monitor is being recognized by OS X, it goes to the standard setting, which is duplicate the screens.
I've tried with other monitors, but they all are on extend at the login screen after boot.
I think that somehow the settings(extend) of the monitor are not loaded before I login. Or the settings only apply to my user account and not to the root user.
I've tried:
- Reset NVRAM
- Reset SMC
- Factory reset Dell Screen
I have to try with HDMI, maby that works, but I do NOT want to use HDMI.
How can I fix this? I really love the screen but it is getting annoying when I boot.
Any help is very appreciated.

You should set the Unattended Execution Account if you don't want to set credentials for data sources.

  • I-pod loads but not recognized correctly

My Ipod set-up fine on my home computer but at work it is not properly recognized. When I plug it in, in pulls up in I-tunes as "Single Disk" not the name I gave it. And all my music is listed as "other" data, not as music. How do I get it to read my music and properly recognize my I-pod?
    Nano-2G   Windows XP

Your iTunes may not be the correct version on your work computer or you may need to re-install it. Since it works fine on your home computer it is unlikely that it's the iPod.

  • Secondary monitor seems not working correctly. Please help.

I am using a secondary monitor in Lightroom and one feature does not seem to be working correctly. Let say, I want to use the Survey mode on my secondary monitor, I select my images on the first monitor, and on the secondary monitor, I press Shift+N, and all the selected images on the first monitor in the Grid view will be displayed side-by-side on my secondary monitor in the Survey mode. But the problem is when I try to click on one selected image, and try to give it a rating, it does not just rate that individual image only, it rates all of the selected images the same rating. I don't understand! That's how it works if you are using one monitor, why it does not work on the secondary monitor. Will appreciate a fix to this problem with many thanks.

Hope someone will help with many thanks.

  • InDesign CS6 plug-in not recognized correctly by InDesign

I have been trying to create a simple InDesign CS6 plug-in that writes to a log file as I'm opening & closing InDesign documents. SDK package had the LinkWatcher sample that I've been using as a reference when creating my solution.
Currently the problem is that I'm getting a "Adobe InDesign does not recognize mfindesign.pln as a valid plug-in" when I try to start up InDesign CS6 with the plugin. That isn't too helpful as it doesn't let me know where the problem is and compiling the code with VS2010 gives me no errors currently.
Relevant parts of the code can be found from https://github.com/crnd/MFIndesign/. I've been using CResponder as a base class in my implementation.
Anyone have any good pointers where & how to start looking for the problem? Or even better if someone can already spot the mistake(s) I've made...

This is a typical problem to solve, based on my individual experience on this issue i would recommend the following check points.
Check that your plugin is linking to correct version of libraries.
Check you are using the correct version of SDK
Look for the odfrc command line and see that correct flags are being sent as argument to it. Also that the correct version of odfrc is being used to compile the resources
If possible use the debug version of InDesign, it may give you more detailed error prompt. Like if the plugin you are trying to load is a release version, or the resources are missing.
See if the resources are actually compiled and the resulting folder is placed parallel to your .pln file, like very truly mentioned by Bartek. Pay attention to what the name of this folder should be.
Also makes sure that these resource folders are not empty.
Hope one of these steps does the trick for you.

  • Just did security update and restated now monitor is not working correctly

Just did the latest security update (didn't catch the specific number), restarted my 1.83 GHZ macbook white, intel chip. Running 10.4.11.
Monitor from has what appears to be scan lines at the bottom and are slowly creeping up the screen!
Any help would be appreciated, don't know if I can undo the update somehow, or if it is a driver conflict?

does an external monitor work(with descrete or optimus only since integrated doesnt drive the panel), if so, then it might be a display issue. if not, then check resolution and refresh rate.
looks kind of like my monitor did when the resolution was wrong(computer tried 1366x768 on an FHD display)

  • External monitor is not working correctly

I recently bought an external monitor and just hooked it up. It worked right the first time, and I had the screens mirrored. I tried to change the screen resolution and it went wack. It will not pick up a steady signal on the external monitor or the macbook pro when connected. I do not regain signal to my macbook pro until I either unplug the external monitor or turn it off it works on my roommates macbook pro. I can't even change the resolution to get it back to how it was originally because the computer freezes up.
Any help on what to do to fix this?

    Hi Mike,
resetting the PRAM should return the resolution to its original settings (boot up the computer while holding down the "command", "option", "P" & "R" keys. Keep them held down until the startup chime has sounded at least twice.)
If this doesn't resolve it try resetting the SMC - see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964

  • T420 Not recognizing keyboard before OS loads

The T420 my company buys will not recognize an external keyboard while docked before the OS loads.  After the OS loads, there is no problem.  We us a disk encryption software that requires a username and password before it will load the OS and each time I have to open the lid of my T420 and enter the password there.  We also have the same problem with the X220 models we get.  I've updated to the latest BIOS, is there anything in the BIOS that will enable the keyboard?

    @dmarshal17,
Is it this mini dock 3?

  • Not recognizing correct device

Mac Mini does not recognize my mp3 player. Not in Disc Utility either. Yes it is plugged directly into the computer usb port. instead, the only "new device" that shows up is of all things the Amazon mp3 downloader application, not even a piece of hardware. what now?

Try connecting directly to the computer and not a usb hub.
    try a different usb port
    try a different usb cable
try letting your mp3 player charge for a full day before connecting to the computer

  • IPOD Not Recognized Correctly by Windows

3rd generation Nano ... worked fine until upgraded I-tunes to 7.6.1.9 ... now device manager sees IPOD but shows yellow balloon and exclamation point. I-tunes does NOT see the IPOD. Followed instructions in Apple article 305136 to uninstall and re-install USB drives(s) but message balloon pops up asking "please insert Compact Disk labeled Mobile Device Setup Disk into CD:Rom drive (D:) and then click okay" This ain't good. The Ipod works properly otherewise

Thank you very much. I created an Apple Id and forum account just to post in this thread. I have this driver issue almost any time I update my iTunes these days.
I don't know why they find it so hard to write proper software for PCs, but I suspect they just don't put too much money into their QA for their windows line of software in hopes that people will think it's their computers fault not the software vendor.
They could at least provide the drivers as self contained downloads so you don't need to grab an entire software package you most likely already have installed.

  • Video iPod not recognized correctly in iTunes

    Hi--
I recently bought an 30gig iPod video [5th generation] and tried using it with iTunes.
while iTunes was able to move music onto my iPod, it would not move videos.
using another software, I converted all my videos to mp4, a format which is supposed to work with video iPods.
I went to a friends house and downloaded some of his videos, which worked fine.
but I still cannot get videos onto my iPod through my computer.
my sister, who uses the same computer, runs into the same problem, so this is not a problem with our iPods.
    what's going on?
    Thanks.
    30gig iPod video Windows XP

Just to check, are any of the videos labeled as TV Shows?
Videos Labeled TV Shows Don't Appear on iPod
Also, is all of the software up to date?

  • 4K TV not recognized correctly: MacBook Pro Mid2014 15" reports a Samsung UE40HU6900 4K TV as 8K (7680x4320). This results in an ugly, washed out image half the size it should be. Is there a fix for this? (OSX 10.10.1)

    MacBook Pro Mid2014 15" reports a Samsung UE40HU6900 4K TV as 8K (7680x4320).
This results in an ugly, washed out image half the size it should be. If you turn off scaling everything is tiny as 8K are displayed on a 4K screen. To get the actual 4K resolution you have to turn on scaling. Still 8K is transferred to the device, but doubling the data lines makes the picture look washed out and create obscure effects for line borders.
Did anybody encounter this problem before? Is there a fix for this? (OSX 10.10.1)

You have the MacBookPro6,2, the Edsel of Macs. It may be covered by this program:
MacBook Pro (15-inch, Mid 2010): Intermittent black screen or loss of video
Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store to have the machine tested.
Print the first page of the panic report and bring it with you.
Back up all data on the internal drive(s) before you hand over your computer to anyone. If privacy is a concern, erase the data partition(s) with the option to write zeros* (do this only if you have at least two complete, independent backups, and you know how to restore to an empty drive from any of them.) Don’t erase the recovery partition, if present.
*An SSD doesn't need to be zeroed.

  • Vision:M not recognized correctly on deskt

Hi. When I got my Vision:M I installed it on my desktop, and then later on my laptop. I did a firmware update for it on my laptop, and when I plugged it into my desktop it wasn't recognized by any of the usb ports I use. The only usb ports that recognize it are the two usb . ports in the front of my desktop, and they're awfully slow for large transfers.
I tried the instructions on the support section but that did nothing. Any help?
    Thanks. -Vinn

It just started working again. I plugged it in and opened up WMP0, and it showed up as a device. I tested it and transfered a song to it, lightning fast usb 2.0
Strange.. maybe it's because I had to rebuild the library after it froze and I reset it. Oh well, hopefully it stays this way.
    Thanks

  • Memory not recognized correctly on boot

Okay, I have 2 sticks of memory in my main computer: 1G and 512M. On boot, the BIOS says I only have 1G. I've heard that you can't mix the size of mem modules so I removed the 512M stick, but then the system says I only have 512M mem installed! Sensors sees the 1G stick.
I tried passing mem=1536M to the kernel, but free still shows only 1G.
Anyone have any ideas on why this might be?

Ghostwalker, the problem is that not only linux, but also the BIOS is detecting 1G. But I just assumed that Arch's default kernel would have High Memory enebled anyway.
Penguin, I just looked at my MB manual and it's good on my PC2700 RAM and says it takes up to 1G per stick, so that should be good.
Maybe I'll swap out all the memory with another system and see what happens.

  • Processor not recognized correctly

hi everyone. i hope you can help me..
i just got done building a pc for the first time. its boots up fine. i have a Amd Athlon XP 2400+ that runs at 1.8 ghz. but my computer is saying it is a Athlon XP 1500+ and its running at that speed, 1.4ghz.
i have a MSI Kt3 Ultra2 motherboard. i try upping the clock in the bios, but it crashes my system. please anyhelp to configure the MB right would be appreciated.
    email me or reply here.

Have you set the FSB to 133?  The BIOS defaults at 100, which will give you a slower reported speed for the cpu.  Bump it up to 133 and you should see your correct speed.
