My most recent episode of Sons of Anarchy downloaded without sound on my 1st generation Apple TV. What can I do?

You can try resetting your iPad by simultaneously pressing and holding the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons until you see the Apple Logo. This can take up to 15 seconds so be patient and don't release the buttons until the logo appears.
Try again to see if the problem persists. If it doesn't work, there isn;t much anyone here can do for you. It may be a physical problem with your speakers.

Most recent episode not automatically downloading

Hello,
My podcast seems to be valid according to feedvalidator.org, but it's not automatically downloading the most recent episode when I subscribe to it. I've read about other's having this same issue but it was always because they had errors in their RSS code.

I'm having this problem on a few of my podcasts, but not all ... it's weird.

There are a couple of errors but they are quick fixes:
<itunes:image href="http://brandcast.websound.com/feed/7/0/chrysler1.jpg"></itunes:image>
You don't need the </itunes:image> at the end... should be just:
<itunes:image href="http://brandcast.websound.com/feed/7/0/chrysler1.jpg"/>
I think your problem lies with your latest podcast episode, which is the first that the iTunes client will download, it has a mismatched filetype:

Since the file is an MPEG4 audio file (.m4a) it should be type="audio/x-m4a"

Fix those and see if that doesn't help...

Sound distortion in most recent episode of Lost

Hi all,
the most recent episode of Lost plays on my Apple TV with really bad sound distortion starting from 4.23 and continuing to the end.
I have a series pass so the episode downloaded onto my Apple TV. The file that has synched with my Mac plays fine in iTunes. I've changed the sync options to remove that ep of Lost from the appletv and then synched back, but it still does it. The episode is Lost s6 e6 'Sundown'. Has anyone else had this issue? I don't want to watch it on my laptop, I really need it to work on the Apple TV!

Not the best solution, but at least you'll be able to watch this episode on the Apple TV.
Either:
Switch Dolby Digital Out to Off in Apple TV's setting. The episode will then play the Stereo AAC track instead (which is fine, btw). Problem is, you'll have to switch Dolby Digital Out back on if you want surround sound back for other content.
Or:
Download an App called Subler.
Open the HD Episode of Lost in Subler.
You'll see that subler lists the video track and two audio tracks. The Digital surround track is not ticked, but this normal and is not the cause of the 'static problem'
Select the surround track and click the delete button.
Save the file and re-sync to Apple TV.
It will now play in stereo.

Can't See Most Recent Episodes Without Subscribing?

I'm experiencing a couple weird issues with my weekly podcast in iTunes, NF Show.

1. When you go to the show page in iTunes, it shows ten episodes, but not the ten most recent episodes. Instead, the newest episode listed is from over a month ago. People are going to the page and claiming that iTunes doesn't have our last five episodes. Yet when I subscribe, I can see and get access to all the episodes. Is there any way to correct this so the iTunes show page actually shows the ten most recent episodes?
2. Previously I posted this URL for people to get to the show on iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/nf-show/ But when you go there, you now get an error message stating the show isn't available in the U.S. That's really weird since the show is produced and hosted in the U.S., and the link worked before. Now, https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/nf-show/id829116093?mt=2# seems to be the only way to get there. Any idea why?

Thanks so much for your insight, Roger. I've resigned myself to waiting to see if it will resolve itself, but now I seem to have an even worse problem that has developed: my podcast no longer seems to be "available in the U.S. store". When I do a search for it on Google, the URL for it now includes a "/ca/" for Canada, but that also doesn't work. Occasionally when trying to access it from the U.S. store, it says it's not available in that store but in another country's, and when I confirm to try retrieving it there... it also says not available.
I'm not sure what changed to cause this issue. Strangely, I'm personally subscribed to the show in iTunes, and I'm still getting the latest episodes, but when I try to go to the show's information page from my subscription, it says it can't get there due to a "temporary problem." And now, I just updated my iTunes to the latest version and the subscription is blown away. Have you heard of something like this happening before, or any idea what's going on?

Invert the colors back to normal.

TV icon dissapeared and all my episodes of Sons of Anarchy...where did it go? I restarted it and it is still a no show. Everything Ive purchased is gone from my desktop Mac as well...help!

Last night all was fine..today the TV icon is gone from the line up and my season 5 of Sons of Anarchy, as well as other shows, are missing from my desktop Mac as well...no power outtage, no changes in anything. here yesterday, gone today. I restarted the Apple TV and nothing came back. Any ideas?

Sons of Anarchy - when is the latest episode of Sons of Anarchy going to be on Apple TV?

I have the season pass and normally the episode appears the day after airing. The latest episode aired on Dec 3 and it is Dec 5 and it is still not there....
Any ideas when the latest episode is going to be available to watch????

This is now a common bug in the store. Shows that are available do not show up in your purchase list for days even though they are available in the store. If you search for the show in the store it will be there. Just checked 12/3 episode is listed in the store. It's just not showing up in your purchased list. It will probably be there in another couple of days.

showed a new episode to download but when downloaded it was actually a 5 minute trailer and no episode. anyone else experience this?

There have been some other reports of this, contact iTunes and let them know so they can look into it.

Syncing 10 Most Recent TV shows not working

I've purchased the season pass to Lost. I tell AppleTV and iTunes to sync the 10 most recent episodes of Lost to the AppleTV. My AppleTV only has the first 10 episodes of the season. I noticed my season of Venture Brothers only has 10 epsiodes I watched. It left out the 3 epsiodes I haven't watched yet. Is this normal?

That feature never worked for me in iTunes anyways. I've created smart playlists to do the trick. In the latest iTunes (7.1) I've noticed a "Mark as New" or "Mark as Not New" feature (upon ctrl-clicking). I know that iTunes is VERY finicky in that let's say you watch an entire episode, and you're like me, you don't wait til the very very end of the episode before you exit out, and stop the play of the file. The file will NOT register as "watched"...thereby effecting any smart playlists of "unplayed" etc.
It seems like you should try to "Mark as New" or "Mark as Not New", on the Lost files you're referring to, and see what happens.

ITunes won't synch just the 10 Most recent Podcasts, it syncs all.

I have two podcasts I want to listen to on my iPod, Security Now! and The Mac Observer's Mac Geek Gab.
I don't want them all on my computer either, there are over 160 episodes combined... I just want the 10 most recent of both. So I go to the iPod's menu, click on Podcasts, and click on sync, and select from the pulldown menu "10 Most Recent" episodes of: and I hit the radio button named Selected podcasts, and I select only:
I click only:
Security Now!
The Mac Observer's Mac Geek Gab.
When I press Apply, it syncs all of the podcasts from those two podcasts and not only the 10 of them like I requested.
What is going on, why is this happening, and just for upcoming questions.
I formated the HD, installed a new OS, itunes is all new, there are no saved preferences from the old itunes, or old system.

BtVision and lack of most recent content.

I took on bt vision only last Wednesday. Quite disappointed for what I am paying a month which is 17.99 I like the fact that you can record programmes and watch them again, but I feel the content is a bit of a waste of time. First thing I wanted to watch which I have missed the entire series of was Being Human's second series. But can only watch the most recent episode. But you can watch the entire series 2 of Being Human online on bbc I player. This is also the same with Skins and many other series's that are on at the moment. The content is obviously fed from the internet to the telly so why can it not be the same? I have told the Bt customer services this, but they don't seem bothered. Even said I would leave. Do I have the right to cancel after the box being delivered? I read it was 10 days? Or am I too late because I had broadband from the weekend before. I think they do this on purpose set your broadband up 7 days before you get btvision and then you are stuck with btvision. Surely by law I have the right to cancel and not pay anything if I am not entirely happy with the service. The picturebox is also a complete waste of time. I'd rather have not bothered and done a a dvd subscription and bought a minimac to connect it up to our tv. Also I think I'd be better with Sky for the fact that there is a wider choice of channels!

The Replay service is not fed from the internet to the telly as you put it otherwise it would be pretty poor quality. It is instead broadcast quality delivered to BT Vision. For example they have the episodes of Corrie in advance and so can upload them almost as soon the live show has been broadcast.
Until Project Canvas comes to fruition I doubt if anyone will offer the iPlayer in its complete form.
BT don't advertise the iPlayer they have a Replay catch up service at £3.
You seem to have overlooked the main purpose of BT Vision which is to provide you with a large and constantly changing library of On Demand programming.
There are no channels on BT Vision only On Demand content from providers.
You should go with Sky that way you won't get a replay service at all.
You will with Freesat of course.

HT1420 After updating to 11 for itunes and ios 7 for phone - I lost over 3500 songs from my itunes. My ipod still has 4100 songs on it less the most recent ones I have purchased. Can't my ipod be used to recreate the library in itunes?

After updating itunes to 11.1 and phone to ios7, I lost more than 3500 songs from my library. My ipod has 4185 songs less the most recent I purchased.
Is there no way an ipod can be used to restore the lost music? Yes, some of it was from cds but were done a long time ago. Obviously it was acceptable for me to compile this music then, now they want to say since it all wasn't purchased, I can't have what was already mine? Plus I do not use nor want to use the cloud, but it keeps creeping up even though I don't want or use it. HELP!

Restore: How to check whether most recent back up is in iTunes or iCloud?

After the most recent update, my phone went into recovery mode and I can't get around going back to factory settings.
As I was looking at posts about how to restore, I saw a screen shot that shows the options "Restore from iCloud" and "Restore from iTunes".
Problem: I don't remember if my last backup was with iCloud or iTunes. I remember looking at both options a few months back but don't remember if I changed from one to the other or not.
Question: Is there a way to see where the most recent backup is (that is, iCloud or iTunes) without committing to choosing one or the other? How can I check what my most recent settings were?
I also have an iPad, and under "iCloud > Storage & Backup > Manage Storage > Backups" it shows my iPhone, and latest backup date for iPhone via iCloud (January). I believe I have backed up since then. If iCloud isn't showing a later backup date, would that indicate that I switched to iTunes for backup at some point after that date?
I want to restore from the latest one so I lose as little data as possible!

I will highlight the portion of that article that I believe will be most helpful below. This section will navigate you to the information about the iTunes backups, but you don’t have to follow the information about deleting any backups unless you feel like you need to delete any old backups:
Deleting a backup in iTunes
If you want to delete a backup created by iTunes, follow these steps:
Open iTunes Preferences:
Windows: Choose Edit > Preferences
Mac: Choose iTunes > Preferences
Click Devices (the iOS device doesn't need to be connected).
iTunes will show the phone number, IMEI, and serial number of the backed up iPhone when you position your mouse pointer over a backup (iTunes shows only the serial number for iPad and iPod touch). You can use this to find the backup you want to delete.
