My most recently taken photos disappeared

I recently took about 5 photos on my iphone 4S (with the newest IOS 5.1 update which I did about a week ago) via the quick photo button. Those photos have disappeared from my camera roll.
When I connected my iphone to my computer, the photos were not there to download either.
The most recent photo that I took, is in the preview button when I click on my camera from either the button or the quick button screen. However when I click on that photo on the left, it instead shows photos I took a week or so ago, not the 5 photos I took tonight.
I've tried rebooting the phone, and deleting some of my pictures and video to my camera to no avail. I have also just turned on photo stream, and nothing is in it. I did text one of the photos prior to them disappearing, so I still have it in the message that I sent. However, I do not understand where those others went. I tried to text the photos again, and I cannot get to them from that angle either.
None of the photos I've taken before tonight have disappeared. Just the ones I took tonight, and I took them via the quick camera button on the home screen. Where did they go?

I have the same problem here. Before I did importing (from iPhone to computer), everything was fine - all photos/videos were right there on my iPhone. I simply used "cut" - "paste" from Windows File Explorer, and then I found that all the photos and videos after certain date were all gone. They are not in the iPhone, neither in my computer. Luckily all the recent photos are automatically kept in "Photo Stream", so I managed to save them all to the "Camera Roll" and then I could still import them to the computer. However "Photo Stream" does not save the videos, so now looks like I lost those precious videos forever!!   There is another weird thing: after importing, some video files still remained on my iPhone which are unplayable, and the notification said "the requested URL was not found on this server". To ensure I don't lose anything, I still moved them to the computer. And the result is predictable: those video files cannot be played on the computer either, by any kind of players.
I think I am not the only one here. I see another post iPhone 5 some photos and videos disappeared from a particular photo onwards and three videos left are not able to be played and are saved as 0:00 files but I cannot reply. Can anybody offer help?

  • All but most recent songs have disappeared

All of my albums are still in the standard location, but the albums are now empty of songs.
I am getting the "The song “*********” could not be used because the original file could not be found. Would you like to locate it?" message. When I open the relevant album folder, it is empty.
The exception are the most recent album purchases which do have all songs in place.
    So my questions are:
1 - why would the iTunes application remove my song files?
    2 - how can I do a mass restoration?
I can get the tracks to play by choosing 'cancel' from the above error message, at which point iTunes takes a few seconds then pulls the track from the cloud. This isn't a solution, as I am getting the error for every track before I can play it.
    Any help greatly appreciated.

They remain in the place where I left them this morning on my MacBookPro. Also mentioning that my iPad retains all the music may help. Do I need to restore iPhone?

  • Why are my recent imported photos disappearing?

All of my photos imported in the last 2 months have disappeared from my iphotos events. Where have they gone, and is there any way to get them back? Once I import them they show up, but if I quit iphoto and reopen they are no longer there. We just recently sarted to use time machine to back up our system, though I think some of the missing photos predate the addition of time machine.
How can I stop this from happening and how can I recover month's worth of missing photos?

Have you checked the View ➙ Sort menu to make sure the Events are sorted as you expected and looked for the photos that way?
Or use the Search feature at the bottom and choose Date.
Then click on one of the last two months and see what you get:
If none of those find any photos continue with (assuming you're running iPhoto 9):  apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #3, followed by #4 and then #1 as needed.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments.  However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • When browsing for photos, why does it not recognize the most recent iPhoto photos?

Whether I'm browsing for a photo to upload to a website, or to put into a word document and use the "Photo" directory which looks at my iPhoto photos it doesn't seem to register photos that I've put into iPhoto recently. I'm not sure if there's a way to "refresh" this directory or not, and there's no exact time that I've been able to recognize where the photos are available through this browser. It's kind of annoying, as I'm using iPhoto to manage all my photos.
    Anyone run in to this?

You can't and shouldn't access image files inside the library via the Finder.  The following is from a post by Terence Devlin on accessing photos for use outside of iPhoto.  It's the definitive treatise on the subject.
There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto:   You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Command-Click for selecting multiple pics.
(Note the above illustration is not a Finder Window. It's the dialogue you get when you go File -> Open)
You can access the Library from the New Message Window in Mail:
There's a similar option in Outlook and many, many other apps.  If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
If you want to access the files with iPhoto not running:
For users of 10.6 and later:  You can download a free Services component from
MacOSXAutomation  which will give you access to the iPhoto Library from your Services Menu.
Using the Services Preference Pane you can even create a keyboard shortcut for it.
For Users of 10.4 and 10.5 Create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use this free utility
                                                      Karelia iMedia Browser
         Other options include:
Drag and Drop: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
File -> Export: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
Show File:  a. On iPhoto 09 and earlier:  Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.    3.b.
b: On iPhoto 11 and later: Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Reveal in Finder -> Original. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.

  • My photos are not working, any recently taken photos won't show, they're just like blank grey pictures & all my photos cannot be uploaded or loaded into an editing tap, it says error, cannot find photo, and the last photo I take ends up being repeated!

someone please help me! I just traveled to hong long and the minute I arrived something wrong was happening with my photos, I can't take any new photos because if I did they either get repeated or just be shown as grey pictures and when I try to upload one to a photo editing app it says "error cannot Load photo" and the same happens in twitter and Facebook! this has been found on for Like more than a week now, even when I want to set a picture as my profile picture in man it ends up zooming the picture way more than how I chose it in the border,, I would like to be able to take good photos again, any help?

    1. You did not get an error message telling you that your iPhoto library was getting full. You got a message telling you that your HD was getting full, right?
OS X needs about 10 gigs of hard drive space for normal OS operations - things like virtual memory, temporary files and so on.
Without this space your Mac will slow down as the OS hunts for space on the disk, files will be fragmented, also slowing things down, apps will crash and the risk of data corruption - that is damage to your files, photos, music - increases exponentially.
Your first priority is to make more space on that HD. Nothing else can be done until you do.
Purchase an external HD and move your Photos and Music to it. Both iPhoto and iTunes can run perfectly well with the Library on an external disk.
Your Library has been damaged from being run on an overfull disk.
How much free space on it now?

  • How do i recover my most recent i-photos after pushing relaunch of the i-photo icon in my i-book, which caused i-photo to reopen without the past 8 months worth of photos?

I went into my i-book to open up i-photo to see when the last time was that my photos had been backed up.  When i clicked on the icon it said would you like to relaunch i-photo because it is already opened and i said yes - then quickly tried to cancel, scared of what it would do, but it was too late.  It immediately shut down the originally opened i-photo through the dock and reopened what I had stored in the i-book.  Of course i apparently haven't backed up my photos in quite some time -which was also news to me as i thought it was constantly backing up and now i can not find hundreds of photos.  I-photo keeps opening up with what was saved on the i-book and not what i had on there minutes before.  Someone please help as I am devastated, because they are all pictures of my sons, including the one born 4 days ago :'(

    Hi..
    Thanks for the reply..
My original I Phone 5 was running IOS 6.12
My I phone 5S currently runs IOS 8..When I upgraded it, it had IOS 7 on it which made the I Photo app compatible with everything below IOS 8...( which the photo app is not compatible with ) so I just connected the I Phone 5S to my computer and thinking the new phone had IOS 7 on it that these was nothing to worry about..I thought all 900 + pictures in the photo stream would transfer but somewhere in the process, I Tunes decides to just go and install IOS 8 which requires that you run a " Photo Migration App" to transfer photos from IOS 7 & below. The problem was is that I didn't want IOS 8 on my new 5S so I thought I wouldn't have to do that part..
Anyway the phone emerged with IOS 8 on it and the only photos that remained were the ones that were actually on the phone..The 900 + I had in the stream didn't transfer because the Photos that works on IOS 7 and below isn't compatible with IOS 8..I guess you have to use the photo migration app that comes with IOS 8 & I phone 6..But I didn't ask to upgrade to IOS 8...It just did it on it's own!
I still have the I Phone 5 Back up that I did just before giving it back to Verizon but if I try to restore the I Phone 5S running IOS 8 those photos in the stream will not go back on the phone because IOS 8 isn't compatible with the I Photos" that ran on IOS 7 and below..
So I have an I Pad mini that runs IOS 7..should I try and erase it...and put that I Phone 5 backup on it and pray the photos that were in the stream come back on it so I can transfer them back to my computer...then erase the I pad mini again and restore it using it's original backup that I have on the computer and the in the cloud?
I know this sounds confusing but I'm at a loss as to what to do..This is what I found ...http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201386
    but it doesn't help me..

  • Message "Use the most recent SAPGUI version" in search help for CC or GL

    Hi,
Would anybody know how to make the pop-up message "Use the most recent SAPGUI version" disappear when using the cost center or G/L account search help during shopping cart creation. We are using SRM 4.0 (SRM Server 500) connected to ECC 6.0 backend.
I've tried looking at SAPnote 929208 which essentially is for correcting the same message for a 640 WAS connection to a 700 WAS but the kernel patches recommended are already installed in the system (current patch level for both systems even exceeded recommended kernel patch levels).
    Thanks and regards,
    Joy

    Hello,
Please  check the attached note 1005358.
Note: Customers using SRM 4.0, which allows using integrated ITS 6.40,
must use the integrated ITS 6.40 if they wish to use ERP 2005 (ECC 6.0)
as a Backend system. No code changes will be done for SRM 4.0.
    In order to maintain the product version please check the following;
    http://service.sap.com/system-data, note 172481.
    Also, check the following notes:
929208 - 640 RFC branch, "Use the most recent SAPGUI version"
721993 - ITS updates in Release 6.40 (SAP Integrated ITS)
    I hope it helps.
    Kind regards,

  • Sharpness problem in recent Apple Photo Aps

More testing needs to be done but I believe that we are losing sharpness when straightening or cropping in the most recent Apple Photo Aps iPhoto08 and AP2. I believe the algorithm needs to be revised.

I have the exact same problem as you. It started immidiatly after I upgraded to iPhoto 8.1
There are many others with the same problem. It is almost certanly some bug due to iPhoto 8.1 update, and I guess Apple will fix it soon.
I have posted a bug report to Apple, I suggest you and others with this problem do the same.

I've just upgraded my iPhone from ios3 to ios6 and it has taken my phone back in time. My most recent photos and messages are dated from a year ago. My music is fine, just messages and photos are gone. HELP?

Restore the device using the most recent backup.
If you have not backed up the device recently, then there is nothing to restore.

Help, I have just restored my iphone from last back up to retrieve vital messages that somehow disappeared.  Now I have lost the most recent messages, calendar details and photos.  How do I get them back?
    I have an iPhone 5S

You restore from the backup that contained them.
Restoring from a backup is all or nothing. It completely overwrites the data in the phone when you restore. You can not combine the contents of a backup with what's currently on your phone.

  • Lost my most recent upload - where are the photos?

I had been having lots of problems with my iMac and Time Machine so I backed everything up and took it in around Christmas. I am only now getting back to using iPhoto again, so my most recent upload was 3+ months of photos, mostly of my sweet young children. When I opened iPhoto the other day, it didn't have an associated library (as I had copied it to my Time Machine external hard-drive and then deleted the one from ~Pictures) so I copied and pasted the one from my drive back in there. I believe that I reopened iPhoto and it just found the library at that point. Anyway, I saw all my old photos in there. I then uploaded the new ones from my camera and, of course, deleted them from the camera....Sigh....
Anyway, today I was doing software updates and synching my new iPhone so everything got shut down. When iPhoto opened up, it asked me which library to use, so I selected the iPhotoLibrary option it gave me, assuming it had everything in it, but when iPhoto opened, I didn't have any of the photos from my last update. Can anyone tell me where on earth they went and where I should look for them? I am incredibly sad to not know where three months of my children's lives has disappeared, especially since it was Christmas and birthdays in there! Please please please tell me the photos are living somewhere and I can get them. I tried searching for the next photo name my camera would have created but oddly that seems to have taken me back to photos from 2007 (I guess my camera is re-using names?).
    Thanks in advance.
    Caroline

First, open the library package with the Finder
and look in the subfolders in the Originals folder to see if your image files are still there. If they are make a temporary, duplicate copy of the library and try the three fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your Home/Library/Preferences folder.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding the the Option key. You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache files that are located in the Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
    Fix #2
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library. Select last three options.
    Fix #3
Rebuild the library using iPhoto Library Manager as follows:
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 -Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 -Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your User/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File->Rebuild Library menu option
4 - In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • Iphoto will not save photo in most recent folder

I have having trouble with the new iPhoto 9.3   When I import a photo, it will not go to my most recent folder.   It only goes to the library section.   I have called Apple support twice and have gone through the lengthy steps of dumping iPhoto files from my library, and then rebuilding everything.   It takes the 4th option, rebuild data base to make it work again.   However, that only lasts for one day.   The next time I open iPhote, it is back to the same way.   I spent an hour on the phone last night, I certainly do know how to do it now, but what is the point, when it will just happen again?   Is anyone else having this problem with the new update.   It is driving me crazy.   I am not going to bother fixilng it again if it just lasts one day.   I want a permanent fix.   Help

I mean in my folder that says last 18 months--under the Recent heading.   In the library section the photos are shown in both photos and events.   The dates on my camera are correct.   I have called Apple care and we have repaired this twice.   First I have to find my library (hidden under the GO heading.) Then go to library, dump the cache and everything with iphoto in the title.   Close iPhoto.   Then hold option and command at the same time and click on iPhoto.  It will open with a box with 4 things that can be done to rebuild or restore.   The 4th one is the one that works--do not rebuild the snapshots--that takes forever!!   Anyway, this works --for about 24 hours, then it reverts back.   This all started with the update to 9.3.   Two other problems.   If I send a photo through iPhoto, and I type anything with it, the typing shows up on the photo and is almost impossible to read.   Got that info back from the person I wrote to.   And my photos that I put in the photo stream have disappeared, all but 3.   They still are in the photo stream on my iPad and my husband's computer (not with updated iPhoto--I said do not do this.)   So, I could fix this again, but what is the point?   It takes forever and does not last.   I think we need a software correction of some kind for iPhoto 9.3.   Is anyone else having this problem?

  • Most recent import disappears when backing up

I back up to an external Lacie drive automatically 3x a week using Super Duper. I recently discovered that my most recent photo import was gone. I had erased mym emory card in my camera after I knew my disk had backed up (so those photos are gone for good), but I've experimented with importing more photos and whenever the backup runs, the newly imported photos disappear from iPhoto. They are neither on my internal or external
I've also noticed that any changes I make to my iPhoto library also happen simultaneously to the library on my external backup drive. Is this supposed to happen?
What's up with this? Thanks for any help.

It sounds like you have been inadvertently using the backup library instead of your main one. That would explain why the new imports were lost when your backup ran - they weren't on the library that was getting copied, so the backup deleted them to make your backup library match your main one.
To switch libraries, hold down the Option key as you launch iPhoto. Select "Choose Library" and navigate to the location of the iPhoto Library that you want to open. You may have done this to check that your backup library was functional and then forgotten to switch back to your main library. Since iPhoto will open the most recently used library by default, you have to Option-launch and select your main library before iPhoto knows to use that one. Once you have selected the correct library, iPhoto will continue to open that one until you change it.
To check the location of the library you are using, Right-click (Control-click) a photo in your library and select "Show File" from the contextual menu. A Finder window will open with the file selected, and you can navigate up from there to see where the iPhoto Library is stored. That way, you can be certain that you are opening your main library and storing new imports to the correct location.
If you haven't used the camera card since erasing it, you can see if [MediaRecover|http://www.mediarecover.com> is able to save your photos. I haven't tried it myself, but I have seen many users here report success with it.
    Regards.

Use the Photos ➙ Adjust Date menu option. Pick the date of the photo you want for the entire album. That will change the date of the event to the date you chose but not change the metadata of the files themselves.
*DO NOT* checkthe box to change the Original files as you might want to revert back to the original dates at some time.
