My mother (sigh) recently updated her iPhone 4(S?) to iOS7 and has now found that Settings is missing. No icon. Gone. Anyone else out there have this problem? Any fixes?

First thing to try is to reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.
Check other screens by swiping left or right. It's gotta be there somewhere.
Search using the search feature. Tap and slide down on the Home screen t reveal the search box. Type in Settings.

Iv just done update for i phone 5 of 7.03 and my phone has froze with i tunes on screen only tried re booting , tried updating i tunes and windows on my pc anyone else out there same prob? Any answers to the prob poss :) hopefully

Well the term "hotlined" I have never heard before. In any case many states (like NY) just passed regulatory powers to the State Public Service Commission of which it may be called something different in your state. You could file a complaint with them. Or file a complaint with your state attorney generals office, they also take on wireless providers.
The problem here is the staff you speak to are poorly trained, in days gone by it took one call to them and they pulled up your account and see the error and had the authority to remove any errors. They did not remove legitimate account actions, but used their heads instead of putting a customer off or worse lying to the customer.
Its a shame you have to go through what you going through.

Media and contacts are NOT part of the iPhone backup. Media should already be in your iTunes library and contacts should be in whatever address book or cloud service you were syncing them to. Just re-sync them to the phone.

Thanks - but it is not that simple. the sim cards are in the right phones. my phone recieves calls most of the time, but if it not available then my wife's phone picks it up. we have turned off blue tooth and hot spots and turned phones on and off and this seems to temporarially solve the issue, but then it reoccurs. it did not happen immediately after her sim card was in my phone - it is more recent. we do not have call divert on. it is just odd.

You can't. Return the phone for a refund, if you can, because without the previous owner's Apple ID/Password, you will not be able to re-activate the phone. It will be useless to you.
Apple can't/won't help you with this.

Here is an update for my antenna. The first antenna sent did not fit to connector, second did not fit either. So I checked with the Novatel site and found an adapter was needed. I got the part number, called Verizon, and they sent the adapter which allowed me to start trying the antenna's to see if they would help. They did, but not enough. I got a sleek from Amazon, it helped more especially when used with the antenna's Verizon sent and another adapter that let me use the antenna with the sleek (Amazon again).
Right now my access is very mixed. I can get it to work but it is spotty. I have tried using foil parabolic concentration devices I made using information and advice I got from:

The recent upgrade available on the admin of the mifi help some more.
That is about all I can presently offer as I am out of options that I know of and the result is spotty. I have forced the mifi to use only evdo so that it will be of enough speed to be of use. It often would jump to a slow speed which it would then stay on which made it almost unusable.

Anyone else out there having issues with Apple TV loading movies and tv shows?

Taking FOREVER to load a tv show on the cloud...like 30 minutes. When I rent a movie it says it's going to take 8 hours. My internet provider says everything is ok on my end. I'm able to stream Hulu and Netflix through my Apple TV with no lag. Just taking forever when accessing Apple content. Had this problem last night as well and finally got better around 11pm.

I'm having vey similar problems. I can't stream anything from iTunes, YouTube, Netflix, Hulu, etc. Mirroring isn't working and neither is photo stream. I'm logged into my account correctly and streaming using other devices is working just fine. My network download speed is comfortably over 10 Mbps. I've restarted my ISP provided modem, both of my routers, and the AppleTV more than once. I've also reset the AppleTV but no difference.
I recently updated AppleTV to 5.1.1 and used Photo stream since then, but this is the first tie I've tried the other things. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
