  • Brand new iMAC, Mountain Lion installed, dashboard widgets will not download. Webpage times out. Any suggestions?

Just purchased a brand new iMAC and sucessfully performed download and install of Mountain Lion (free upgrade). Discovered that dashboard widgets will not download as webpage times_out in both Safari and Firefox. Already set security to allow downloads from 'anywhere' but with no change. Downloads from anywhere else works fine, just widgets won't work, and I've been trying for several days now. Any suggestions? (firewall is off).

  • Mountain Lion was reedemed but will not download

I just received my emails from Apple with the redemption codes, etc.  Received the link to download Mountain Lion in my app store.  It says "downloading" in the Launch Pad, but in the App Store when I click OS X Mountain it says -  "The item you've requested is not currently available in the U.S. store."
Across from that seemlingly deadlink for Mountain Lion is the button "Download"  When I click it nothing happens and "download" just lights up again.
Is it downloading properly since it says "downloading..." on my Launch Pad?  Is there any way for me to see how much time remains on the download?
    Please Help.
(I am currently running on OS X Lion and just upgrading)
    Thank you!!!

Thank you,  Stupid me didnt realize Mavericks was free.  I am downloading Mavericks now.  I deleted ML from my purchases on the AppStore.
Is there a way to delete it from my Launch Pad before it has downloaded since I obviously will not be using it now?  Didnt realize Mavericks was free.  I cannot believe I paid 20 dollars for ML.
    I feel cheated.

  • HT202159 I have purchased Mountain Lion today and it will not download properly, it just quits. Advice please!!

    Thanks

Check your connection speed. Ideally you will need a connection of more than 15Mb/s. Else it would time out before it complete the download.

  • I just updated to OS X Mountain Lion and now Word will not work?

I just updated to OS X Mountain Lion and now Word will not work?
Word, Powerpoint, Excel - none of them work. . . . Any ideas?

You can also try Pages for Word / Numbers for Excel. Both can import/export Word and Excel files.

  • Why doesn't notes in Mavericks show the notes i had on iCloud in mail in Mountain Lion?, why doesn't notes in Mavericks show the notes i had on iCloud in mail in Mountain Lion?

Why doesn't notes in Mavericks show the notes i had on iCloud in mail in Mountain Lion?, why doesn't notes in Mavericks show the notes i had on iCloud in mail in Mountain Lion?

Ask a fifth time, and maybe the answer will appear.
Are the notes actually in iCloud?  If you go to iCloud.com and log in, do you see them there?  If so, it's an issue on your computer side.  If not, then the notes don't exist on the server.

  • My new macbook pro will not download Mavericks, says it does not meet system requirements. Help!

Mavericks will not download on new macbook pro. says it does not meet system requirements. What?

  • Will not download mavericks

I can not download Maverick upgrade to my macbook pro

First, you must download Mavericks, not the upgrade. The Mavericks file is 5+ GBs in size. Be sure you download the right file.

  • I upgraded to Mountain Lion, now photoshop CS5 will not open

I order photo prints using one of the Roes software programs.  I needed to update Java to 7, and to Mountain Lion and now neither the Roes or Photoshop CS5 will open.

These are the versions of iPhoto that are and are not compatible with Mavericks:
What version of iPhoto are you running?  What happens when you try to launch iPhoto?  Any message?

  • My macbook pro has mountain lion installed and it will not play dvds

my hubby's macbook pro has mountain lion installed, and will not play dvd's.  It says it is unsupported, I also have a macbook pro but has snow leopard on it, mine will play dvd's.  Please help me, I can't figure out why his won't play the same dvd's as mine.

The most frequent problem in an optical drive is a dirty lens.  Use a lens cleaning DVD, a few shots of compressed air in the slot or a fine microfiber cloth (eyeglass lens cloth) wrapped around a business card and gently inserted inside the slot.  If no success, the Apple store genius bar is the next stop.
    Ciao

  • Mountain Lion Mail - bin items will not delete

I use Mountain Lion Mail and use Google IMAP.  In mail box behaviours I have it set to Trash-> move deleted messages to the trash mailbox.  The items go the bin.  However when I got to Mailbox-> Erase deleted items nothing happens.  In Gmail I have it set to delete immediately.  But nothing seems to work in Mail.  I have 16,389 message in the bin!!!! How do I delete these messages rather than going in one by one? Trash under the Top right hand heading of Mailboxes does delete it is just the bin that does not erase any emails.  IMAP in Gmail is set to Auto-Expunge On - Immediately update the server (default). Do I have a setting wrong somewhere?

    Try reinstalling Mountain Lion:
Reinstalling Lion/Mountain Lion Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • After upgrading to Mountain Lion the mail app will not quit and then freezes only a force quit will work. How do i quit it normaly?

Mail will not quit normaly only force quit works. Any help?

Under the Mailbox drop down it is the last option.  Just select a mailbox first before going to the Mailbox menu.

  • Mountain Lion 10.8.2 Will not Boot

I'm on an early 2011 MBP. I have a 256GB SSD with OSX on it and a 500GB HDD with a data partition and a boot camp partition. I just updated from 10.8.1 to 10.8.2.
When the I turn it on, the start progress indicator fills up then the machine turns off. Booting to safe mode also fails. When I boot to the terminal, that works, in that I get the terminal with no errors, though it says the disk isn't writeable.
When I boot to recovery, I can only "verify disk" - the other 3 options under first aid are unavailable. When I attempt to reinstall, the SSD doesn't even show up as an option - just shows the recovery partition, boot camp partition, and data partition.
My most recent time machine back up is rather old as I haven't been working from the desk where I have my backup drive hooked up, so that's not a favorable option at this point.

    Hi all,
I see its been 2 months since the last post. Did someone find the solution? I have the same problem with 10.8.2 update. Macbook pro mid 2010 with Crucial 256 m4 ssd (latest firmware 010G). Since yesterday my mac refuses to start.
    What I did so far:
    1. Impossible to start os x 10.8.2, stuck at spinning circle below the apple logo at startup. Disk check ok, permissions ok. Startup in "safe mode" stucks on spinning  wheel as well.
    2. Impossible to format the drive for a new clean install. What I find strange is that I cannot format the ssd with any utility. So far I tried with windows, linux and with disk utility on os x. I put the ssd in a usb casing and I am able to read it as an external drive, can copy some smaller files from it but cannot change anything on it (no permissions).
    3. Did a clean install on original hd of my mac. Data transfer (1 user)  from time machine or the ssd goes through 85-95% then stops. And now impossible to format the original drive with the 10.8.2 installed to downgrade to 10.7.
    4. Pram reset
Does anyone have any idea what to do now?
    Thanks!

  • The Apple store will not download Mavericks on my Snow Leopard 10.6.8 I Mac

When attempting a download from the Apple store of Mavericks for free, the process goes no further than the download link.  No further action takes place.  Imac 2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 4 GB ram & 500 GB hard Drive. Mac OS X Version 10.6.8.  FRUSTRATION TO SAY THE LEAST!

    500 GB hard Drive.
How much HD space do you have left?
Make sure you meet ALL of Mavericks system requirements.
Have you read for possible solutions over in the "More Like This" thread over here?----------------------->

  • OS X Mountain Lion will not download

I'm trying to download OS X Mountian Lion update and it will not download on my Mac Book Pro. I've purchased it and it says it's "downloading" although in about and hour the download progress bar has not moved. I've tried restarting the computer, pausing and unpausing the download, and nothing seems to help. I meet all the minimum requirements. I even took a look to see if my Macbook needed any software updates, which it didn't. Anyone have any advice? I've used the App store often to buy things so I don't know what's going on?

So you have a Retina or Air MBP. In that case Apple sells a thunderbolt to Ethernet adapter.
But that may not be yor problem. It is not that you can't download MT Lion over yor WiFi connection, it should work just fine, but if the WiFi drops out for any reason the download will just stop and not continue. So it is best, In my opinion, to Wire the computer to the router.
Just saying "I have the same problem" doesn't really help in trying to help you. What happens when you start the download? How fast is your internet connection? The MT Lion download file is 4.3+ GBs in size and will take from 30-40 minute to multiple hours to download depending on how fast an Internet connection you have.
