My mountain lion won't download, says downloading but no progress

Same problem. Appears to be related to the availability of OS X Mavericks now. Here is another post on this issue: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5503509?tstart=60

  • TS1702 mountain lion won't download

I am new to Macs and computers. I have a Macbook Pro and have just bought Mountain LIon to update my Snow Leopard system. It was downloading fine but suddenly stopped saying that 'an error had occurred' and has a grey blank box at the side of it. I can't find any part download of the app. I have tried to look in folders but no joy. Does anybody have simple step by step instructions for a beginner please?

    Try it this way ...
How to re download apps from the Mac App Store:
Open the App Store. From the menu bar click Store > Sign In
Click Purchases from the top of the App Store window.
Select Mountain Lion. Then right or control click where you see Installed then click Install.
Make sure and use the same Apple ID used for the original purchase.

  • Mountain Lion won't download from app store even after I've purchased it

I have purchased and tried to download Mountain Lion OS X but the icon just says "waiting" and in the purchases tab on the App Store  it says "an error has occurred" and I can't click anything. What do I do? I just want to download it!

    i have resolved the issue.
I had to close down the App Store, re-open it, and in the purchases tab the error disappeared and the option to resume the download was there again. However, I have spent the last 3 days opening and closing the program, restarting my computer. There is obviously a problem with this because there are other users who've had the same issue. Its frustrating because Apple has already taken my $20. I could have easily gone to a store to buy it if I could.

  • Mountain Lion won't download. Any help?

    Hi,
I have purchased mountain lion 3 days ago but I can not download since then. I see the icon saying "waiting" but there is not any progress.
    How can I fix this?
    Thanks a lot

[Assumption: You have functional Internet connection to your ISP and have Mountain Lion running by now.] If not:
Stop the indicated "waiting" dialog. Logout of the App Store.
    Reboot.
Sign back into the App Store and with the option key depressed, choose purchases. The Mountain Lion purchase should have an "install" button indicated. Try again.

  • OS X Mountain Lion won't download

So I'm on a Macbook 2010 version running OS X version 10.6.8 which is the requirement for downloading Moutain Lion.  I bought Mountain Lion in the App Store and when i start downloading it I can see it progresses to around 700mb and then it just stops and says "An error has accurred". I have a 100mbit line and not using wifi but an ethernet cable. Anyone got advice? Very frustrating to pay for something and not be able to use it.

Contact the Mac App Store support folks - http://www.apple.com/support/mac/app-store/.
It seems that a number of people, recently, are getting that "an error has occurred" message... may be a 'clink' in Apple's MAS servers...

  • Mountain Lion won't download from App Store

Hello, I'm on the Mac OS X 10.6.8 and am currently trying to download Mountain Lion onto my computer. However, after I've made my purchase nothing happens when I try to download the software from the App Store. I've tried restarting my computer and App Store. Any ideas?

The loading bar for Mountain Lion actually showed up when I restarted my computer by using the software update. The downloading bar is still empty but I'm guessing I simply can expect quite some time for it to download?

  • I have version 10.6.8 but Mountain Lion won't download.

I am trying to download Mountain Lion to my Macbook 10.6.8
It's been trying since last night. Am I missing a step?

  • Mountain lion won't download, stuck at 142mb

I've been trying for months to download Mountain Lion, it keeps stalling at 142mb. any ideas?

The Apple Store idea is probably the best. Do you have access to another network using another ISP (friend's house?) where you can try the download again? Needs to be someone who has a Mac. You can then put the download on a USB stick and install it on your iMac.
You can also try resetting the App Store.

  • Mountain lion is not downloading but it's on the side of my computer how long does it take to download

How long does mountain lion take download b/c it is just sitting there idle

actually nevermind, it's working now. I closed iTunes, then waited a little, then double clicked one of my iTunes video files from my documents, which opened up iTunes again and the video started playing. I tried restarting iTunes before and that didn't work, so maybe for those who have similar problems, just try clicking on the video file in your documents/desktop of your computer, rather than directly from iTunes.

I downloaded Mountain Lion on my Mac Book Pro but when I go to install it, it says "OS X cannot be installed on Lion."   Any advice?

Right-Click the "Install OS X Mountain Lion" installer under /Applications and select Show Package Contents and drill down through the folders; Contents/SharedSupport.  Drag the InstallESD.dmg file to your desktop.  Grab an 8GB USB stick as the file is 4.35GB's and might not fit on a 4GB USB stick.  Then mount the DMG by double-clicking it and stick your 8GB USB stick in and that will mount then you can use Disk Utility to restore the DMG to the 8GB USB stick.  Then shutdown and reboot while holding the Option key and select the USB drive.  See if that will let you install Mountain Lion.
One more thing, you have to format the USB Stick first and ensure it's set to GUID mode (under Partition tab Options button) or it won't boot.

No, I don't know about that kind of software. It isn't Pages anyway. You need somekind of database.

  • How long does mountain lion take to download and where does it say how much it has left mine just says downloading ?

how long does mountain lion take to download and where does it say how much it has left mine just says downloading ?

It's totally dependent on your broadband speed.
It took me about 45 minutes to download, but I have a reasonably fast connection.
It will often say in the purchased pane of the Mac App Store how much longer it will take.

  • Install for mountain lion is not progressing - for about 3 hrs now. It went to the launch pad and just has a dot, saying it is "downloading", but no progress. Shouldn't i get a "time remaining" somewhere?

The Download is about 4GB, it depends on how fast your internet connection is and how busy Apple computers are. Have you any way of checking if your Internet is downloading, I.E activity lights on you router. My Internet is 8Mb/s download and it took just over an hour to download earlier today.
I am not sure about a "time remaining"icon.
