My mouse "hover" has quit after installing Airparrot.

It wont highlite anything or bring my dock from hiding w/o having to click. I drug parrot to the trash, repaired permissions, & cleared cache.  Still no hover.  The irritating thing is apple support suggested airparrot "off the record" to get around my Airplay not working due to my 10.6.8 os.  Help please...

Any third-party software that doesn't install by drag-and-drop into the Applications folder, and uninstall by drag-and-drop to the Trash, is a system modification.
Whenever you remove system modifications, they must be removed completely, and the only way to do that is to use the uninstallation tool, if any, provided by the developers, or to follow their instructions. If the software has been incompletely removed, you may have to re-download or even reinstall it in order to finish the job.
Here are some general guidelines. Suppose you want to remove something called “BrickYourMac.” First, consult the product's Help menu, if there is one, for instructions. Finding none there, look on the developer's website, say www.brickyourmac.com. (That may not be the actual name of the site; if necessary, search the Web for the product name.) If you don’t find anything on the website or in your search, contact the developer. While you're waiting for a response, download BrickYourMac.dmg and open it. There may be an application in there such as “Uninstall BrickYourMac.” If not, open “BrickYourMac.pkg” and look for an Uninstall button.
You may have to log out or reboot in order to complete an uninstallation.
If you can’t remove software in any other way, you’ll have to erase your boot volume and perform a clean reinstallation of OS X. Never install any third-party software unless you're sure you know how to uninstall it; otherwise you may create problems that are very hard to solve.
Trying to remove complex system modifications by hunting for files by name often will not work and may make the problem worse. The same goes for "utilities" that purport to remove software.

I've had the same issue and despite clearing the PRAM and powering on and off repeatedly this is what has (at least temporarily) resolved my issue:
I've done this 3 times and sometimes it works right off the jump other times I've had to wait a bit and try again or power off and try again, once the start up screen is frozen hit Command : Option : Shift : Esc and a window should pop up "You restarted because of a problem..." from there you can go to your desktop. I haven't found an actual resolution to fix the problem but this does get you into your computer.
    Hope this helps!

  • Netscape 7.2 Mail "Unexpectedly Quits" after install of J2SE 5.0 Java

My problem is with Mail & Newsgroups in Netscape 7.2 for Macintosh OS10 - Netscape quits at end of message download.
Since "Software Update's" recent J2SE 5.0 Java update, which I installed a day or two ago, Netscape's Mail & Newsgroups has been completely unpredictable. The most annoying problem being that Netcape would quit, over and over again. Sometimes for no apparent reason, but always reliably quitting after having downloaded the last message from the server. Poof! Window gone, program quit. And with each launch of Netscape, more messages in my Inbox. I finally was forced to change the server settings so that messages wouldn't download automatically. I could then delete them from my Inbox... if I could do so quickly enough. Sometimes the program would quit before I could make the necessary changes.
I have read many similar complaints and suggestions involving rather complicated fixes. None worked for me.
Here's what did work. And oh, so easy! UNCHECK "Enable Java" in Netscape's preferences. You will find the box in the Netscape/Preferences/Advanced pane. Apparently Netscape Mail & Newsgroups doesn't like the new J2SE 5.0 Java update.
So far I've seen no adverse effects from this in the Netscape 7.2 browser. However, I would like to know that Java is at work in the background as usual in ALL my browsers. Since Apple doesn't support Netscape, I am counting on an answer from another user.

Power Mac G4 "Quicksilver"   Mac OS X (10.4.6)   800 Mhz Dual Processor, 1.5GB RAM

Scapsuiter, Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I still don't know why Java effected Netcape's mail the way it did, or even if that was really the culprit. But I did a little investigation into the MRJ plugin for Mac OS X (which I HAVE NOT installed). I found a sight that could be used to see if Java was really working in my browser (namely, "Walter Fendt’s Java Applets on Physics"). To test Netscape's bowser and mail I once again enabled Java. The applet worked fine in the browser. But here's what I don't understand. Now Netscape's Mail & Newsgroups feature is working exactly as it should, behaving just as it did before the problem. Is it possible that Netscape was simply overloaded with such a huge amount of messages as it downloaded them again and again, duplicating them each time I quit & re-launched the program? This seems unlikely as I've seen Netscape handle huge numbers of messages before, in various sub-folders and even the trash. My concern is since I don't know what caused the problem, it could happen again. I guess time will tell. I still have much to learn, but thanks for your response and for helping to further my knowledge on Java applets and the MRJ plugin.

  • ITunes keeps unexpectedly quitting after installing Leopard

After installing Leopard, iTunes keeps unexpectedly quitting? I've tried recreating the iTunes library with no help.

i had the same problem. finally i found out what was going wrong. it was the digi core audio extension that messed up my itunes. so if you are using pro-tools you should have a look into this possibility.
if not you might want to try and remove any non-apple audio extension and see what happens. don't trash them as you might be able to pin point the problem to only one extension.

  • Mouse will not scroll after installing lion os

Mouse will not scroll after lion os install.

In Lion the scrolling is natural i.e. reversed to the way that computers typically scroll. Think of the scroll as grabbing the page an moving it either up or down vs moving the scroll bar down up or down. Also, the scroll bars are "hidden" by default and only show up when you are scrolling.
Are you using and Apple mouse? If you go to the system preferences and then to the "mouse" section there are options to change the natural scrolling. And if you go to System Preferences and then to "general" you can set it to show or hide the scroll bars.
If this is not what the issue is let me know and let me know what mouse you are using because there is something else that it could be.

  • Acrobat keeps quiting after installing through creative cloud

I have not got Acrobat to work ever since downloading from creative cloud. If I open it it quits after a few seconds. It seems others have had this problem but I couldn't find any solution. When I went to save a word file as a pdf it reported that there was no file association.  I really don't wnat to resort to cutepdf but will have to because I use this a lot for work.
    Does anyone know the solution?
    Thank you......................... liz

    Hi Liz,
    Try this
    - Close Acrobat
    - Launch Adobe Application Manager from either the Start menu (Win) or Applications (Mac) folder. It should auto update if needed
    - De-activate and reactivate one of the other CS6 products like Photoshop CS6
    - Test if the behavior persists for Acrobat
Not the same issue but the same solution

For the file association issue I would post here as a separate issue

  • Lost sound driver after installing airparrot

I have a 2009 Macbook pro running mountain lion. I downloaded this program called Airparrot to stream my screen to my apple TV. While streaming it asked to download Airparrots sound drivers so I did. No im able to get sound on my TV while streaming and sound if I plug in headphones to the headphone jack but No sound trough my internal macbook speakers. If I go into system preferences there is no option for internal speakers.
I think when I installed Airparrots audio it deleted the internal speaker driver.
I tried restoring the system and still nothing
How do I get my internal speaker option back ??

  • Excel Unexpectedly Quits After Installing Boot Camp

I installed Boot Camp last night on my MacBook Pro (Leopard 10.5.1, 160GB, 2.4 and 4GB Ram) and now my Excel files won't open in that application. Also, I can't repair permissions. If you might be able to help (greatly appreciated), here are the details:
Excel crashes when I try to open a saved file. It complains that: "This file is not in a recognizable format." and then "Microsoft Excel cannot open or save any more documents because there is not enough available memory or disk space." and finally "The application Excel quit unexpectedly."
All apps worked without a problem before installing Boot Camp. During installation I got an error message at the end of my first attempt to partition, saying that files could not be overwritten (or moved around) and I had to back up my HD and then erase it and then reinstall from the back-up. I did a file back-up using Carbon Copy cloner (tested the back-up by successfully booting from it), erased the HD using disk utility (running my Leopard start-up disk) and then reinstalled from the back up disk. Then partition was successful. I chose a 32GB windows partition. Installed Windows XP and then the drivers. Now I have the crashing Excel. My Mac partition still has about 15GB remaining. Isn't that enough?
I tried to fix this with my Leopard install disk by running DiskUtility and repairing permissions. It now gives me a dozen or so warnings about the permissions being wrong but when I click "repair permissions" it reports that the problems were not repaired.
Maybe the disk back-up screwed up the permissions? Maybe I need more than 15GB to run Excel? Any ideas? Thanks for reading my post.

  • Wireless mouse does not work after installing new batteries

I have a PowerBook G4 and have been using a wireless mouse and keyboard. The batteries needed to be replaced in my mouse. I successfully installed new batteries. The mouse will turn on. The LED blinks. But the mouse is not functioning. I must use the finger pad on the machine. I double checked the battery installation and even set-up the mouse as a device again. When I turn the mouse off, I get a "connection" lost window on the screen. I have tried
clicking the mouse to re-establish connection with no luck.
    Any suggestions?

    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=86468
I had the same problem today - go to the above URL and follw precisely the instructions - after you delete the current mouse settings from your bluetooth preferences - apparently you have to sometimes reinstall the mouse after changing batteries - however I changed them before and did not need to do this
    hope this helps

  • Wireless mouse doesn't work after installing iTunes

New 30Gb iPod, installed iTunes v6 on 6-mos old HP laptop with docking station/wireless keyboard/mouse. All is well, updated iTunes with latest from web, loaded songs on iPod BUT now wireless mouse will not work. Reset mouse, works for a few clicks, then dies. Reset mouse again, few more clicks, then dies. Reboot without iPod connected, no iTunes up, still mouse only works for a couple clicks. Touchpad on laptop works, also so does wireless keyboard so I know transmitter is working (not battery problem). All worked fine until I started playing with options in iTunes today. I didn't uninstall iTunes yet, is that next step? Anyone else have this problem? Suggestions???

I'm pretty sure it's probably just your mouse/computer, however I would recommend uninstalling iTunes just to make sure though.

  • Calendar, messages, mail all quit after installing OS 10.9.4

    I just purchased a macbook air 11" early 2014 on July 6.  When I set it up, a senior apple advisor helped me move the backup from my old macbook air onto the new one.  No problems.  Then we installed the 10.9.4 update and over the course of 3 days, with very little use, first calendar stopped working, then messages, then mail, and now my browsers both Chrome and Safari randomly quit.  Info on my laptop;

  • Mouse does not swipe after installing osx mavericks

I just installed Mavericks and my mouse swipe does not work for Safari and iphoto. Can anyone help?

Go to SYSTEM PREFERENCES - MOUSE - MORE GESTURES
Once there enable SWIPE BETEWEEN PAGES
For some reason the upgrade unchecked this for me
    Easy fix
    Hope this helps

  • TimeCapsule has disappeared after installing AirPort Express

I installed an Airport Express (bridged) over ethernet to my existing Time Capsule.
Now In the Airport Utility I can no longer see my TimeCapsule.  In the Time Machine utility  I see the TimeCapsule after I press "Select Disk" but it times out and I receive msg "OSStatus Error 2".
Internet connection through the TimeCapsule still works fine.

jlybly, Welcome to the discussion area!
Assuming you have an iBook G4, your problem is different. The iBook G4 is ONLY compatible with the AirPort Extreme card.
If, by chance, you actually have an iBook G3 then you need the original 802.11b AirPort card. The iBook G3 is ONLY compatible with the older AirPort card.

  • Keyboard and mouse not working correctly after installing Windows 8.1

I was forced to upgrade my computer to Windows 8.1. My keyboard worked fine until the sytem did a reboot. Numbers on keypad stopped typing and letters were being capitalized when the caps lock was off and the numbers across the top will only type the symbol above the numbers.
I looked up this problem and it seems I need to enter UEFI settings and disable Intel XHCI mode. When I get into the UEFI settings I cannot make any selection from the startup menu. Both my keyboard and mouse stop working.
    Any suggestions?

Thank you for posting a response. Fortunately, I didn't have to try your solution because the computer resolved itself.
