My movies will play on my iPod but not my computer

I've purchased a few movies in iTunes (2 Days in Paris, Inglourious Basterds) that play fine on my iPod—and have bought television shows that play on both my iPod and Macbook—however the movies that I have purchased on my iTunes won't play on my computer. This is the computer on which I bought the movies and I am using the most current version of iTunes. A screenshot shows up in "Now Playing" but I otherwise get a black box where the movie should play (screengrab attached). Has this happened to anyone else? Is there a way to fix it?

I'm having the same problem. All suggested fixes from Apple have not worked. I just had this problem tonight and here is what worked: Go to Settings; General; Software Update; and update to the new iOS: 6.0.1. It worked for me, hope it works for you!

Movies will play on my ipod but there is no sound

After downloading movies to my computer I can play them in quicktime player. I can download them to itunes, but when I put them on my ipod after converting them the sound doesn't play. I figured that the sound doesn't play because it says its "muxed". How do I get those videos to play with sound or is the video too corrupt to play altogether?

Songs will play on my phone but not on computer so can i transfer them back to the computer?

What im wondering is if i can transfer songs back to the computer. Random songs on itunes just randomly changed to being unable to locate on itunes. I have searched on the computer for them but cant seem to find them and some were downloaded off of itunes while some were transfered by disc. All the songs missing are scattered around all the devices in the family and i hope that we can get them off of the devices.

Composite AV Cable will play video and audio, but not music

I just bought an Apple Composite AV Cable to use with my iPod touch 3rd gen. It will play videos and the accompanying audio through the TV with no problems, but it will not play just music. What's the deal?

No. However, you can get a cable from the headphone jack to an audio input for your TV.

Audio will preview in iDVD, dvd will play audio in puter but not player

Sharing a movie from iMovie 8.0.3 (all programs up to date) gives me a movie with audio I can preview in iDVD 7.0.4 again, all updated. When burned, the dvd will play with audio on the computer, but in an actual dvd player, it will not play audio, and the movie autoplays - to get the dvd menu I had to press "menu."
Any thoughts?

If the burned disk plays ok in your computer, I would not suspect the software, but the DVD player that you are using. Try the disk in another player and see if it works. DVD players vary considerably in how they handle the audio tracks. I am especially sure that it is the player when you note that one must push 'menu' to get the iDVD menu to appear.
Other suggestions:
Use a good recommended brand of DVD disk to burn your DVDs, such as Verbatim or Maxell. Memorex and TDK are not recommended here because their layers are thinner and they give inconsistent burns.
Be sure to use a slower burn speed, 4x or less.
Also, most of us recommend that you make a disk image file of all your iDVD projects.
From within an iDVD project, select 'Save as Disk image' from the menu. The process looks like a burn, and takes just as long for encoding, but the end result is a disk image file, not a burned DVD disk.
You can then mount the disk image file and play it on your computer using the application DVD Player.
This disk image file is an exact replica of your iDVD project, with all the media data encoded within it. If it plays properly, you can use it to burn DVD disks now and for as long as you save the disk image file. It is a great backup for your projects. In fact, you can safely move, change or delete the original iDVD project and the original iMovie used in it without losing the ability to burn a disk of your project later.
An iDVD project, on the other hand, is a shell container that points to the media used in it, but does not actually keep those files in it. iDVD pulls the media for the encoding/burn, but the media stay where they are originally located. If you want to save all your iDVD projects, you have to save all the media precisely as it was when the project was created or iDVD will be unable to find it to open the project.
Many have been keenly disappointed to learn that their projects are gone because they saved only the iDVD project and deleted all the other media.
However, with an disk image file encoded with the media, the original iDVD project and iMovies used in it can be safely deleted.

Applications. Will sync up to iPod but not run!

After close on 14 hours of trying to repair all the bugs in iTunes 9, I am still stuck.
I have various applications in my library (compatible with iTouch & downloaded via iTunes)that appear to successfully sync up to my iPod, but when I try to run them from the iPod directly, they open then close immediately and are not "runable".
Any suggestions to help my sanity (short of throwing iPod in bin) will be appreciated...

Yes (part of my 14 hours work). I had problems installing V9 in the first place. Then getting any sync at all.
Did a total wipe/ restore of iPod (which in itself didn't run smoothly).
Am able to get music, but applications won't run and podcasts just caus iTunes to crash when trying to sync (see my other thread question).

hopefully i'm not screwed. i basically had to erase and reinstall everything on my harddrive yesterday. i had my songs backed up on a flashdrive. i synced my ipod with itunes and tranfered purchased songs to the ipod. today, i deleted some songs from itunes and attempted to sync by ipod with my library and got an error message saying that about 200 music files couldn't be found. these are songs that i didn't buy through itunes. i did something i now realize is stupid- i deleted the songs off my flashdrive. i thought once i synced last nite, the songs would have been saved in my 'my music folder'.
is there anyway that i can start over and transfer the songs on my ipod to my itunes library and not lose the songs that weren't purchased through itunes? if i uninstall itunes and reinstall it, will songs on my ipod then get transferred?

The transfer of content sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. Dvd plays on dvd players but not mac computer

I burned a short film onto a dvd using DVD Studio Pro. When I play the dvd in a dvd player, the menu and tracks play fine and in accordance with the simulate menu in DVDSP.
However, the dvd will not play on my macbook pro or imac using dvd player. The menu comes up, but "play" has no result. "Not Permitted" comes up.
Details:
Menu is assigned first play.
Menu is simple: a single button "play" linked to asset (track 1, 6 min runtime).
Video Asset is MPEG-2, 7.7Mbps, 2-pass, 16:9 Anamorphic, from Compressor
Audio is Dolby Digital Professional 2.0.ac3, from Compressor
DVDSP preferences all set to SD, 16:9 Letterbox
Burning to DVD-R
Has anyone encountered this?

Well not that anyone was involved with this thread but I rebuilt my dvd menu from scratch and it seems that there were some buttons that i had brought in but had disabled (and never bothered to clear from the menu because they were invisible.) I guess they were confusing the computer when trying to hit play.

It sounds like you have the option to use Airplay on your phone but your Apple TV doesn't seem to be picking it up. I would start by restarting the device and testing it again:

Verify that your iOS device has Wi-Fi turned on. Enable Wi-Fi on your iOS device by going to Settings > Wi-Fi.
All AirPlay-enabled devices must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
Some Wi-Fi network configurations offer a Guest Network. On your Apple TV, go to Settings > General >Network and ensure that you're connecting to the same Wi-Fi network on your iOS device. On your iOS device, tap Setting > Wi-Fi and confirm that this matches your Apple TV.
Ensure that other devices are not trying to stream to the same Apple TV at the same time.
Ensure that your Wi-Fi router is set up with the recommended settings for the best performance.
Certain external devices, such as microwave ovens and baby monitors, may interfere with a Wi-Fi network. Try moving or disabling these devices.
If possible, try to locate your Wi-Fi router in the same room as your iOS device and Apple TV.
If your wireless and wired networks are the same, try connecting your Apple TV to the router via Ethernet instead of Wi-Fi.
If the Wi-Fi router has an external antenna, check to see that is it connected properly and in good condition.
