My MSI KT3-ULTRA2 doesn't work with my CPU cooler!!

My MSI KT3-ULTRA2 doesn't work with my CPU cooler!!
I've got an MSI KT3-ULTRA2 mainbord, and I have a NEOLEC VENEZIA TB Cooler. But when I attach my NEOLEC cooler and I start the machine, the machine shuts down within a couple of seconds, and I get nothing to see on my screen. The weird thing is when I turn the PC on, the cooler starts rotating so it can't be broke, but then the pc shuts down i a couple of secs. So pleezze anybody help me!!
The weird thing is that I also have a coolermaster cooler, and that one works fine. But the problem is that this coolermaster is designed for AMD XP 1900+, and I ahve an AMD XP 2200+ that's why I bought the Neolec Venezia TB cooler.

one easy thing to watch for... see if the heatsink or fan is in contact with any part of the motherboard, like... if it is too big and touches something that normally wouldn't be in contact with a fan or heatsink.  If so, it could be shorting it.

  • MSI KT3 ULTRA2-R NO WORK WITH XP 22OO

I have the MSI  KT3 ULTRA2-R with the latest bios. MSI states clearly on ther web site that this board will work up to a xp2800. Can anyone tell me why this board will not boot up with anything above an XP2000.
The only thing I can think of is the core volt. this chip needs 1.65 but in the bios it only goes as low as 1.725.
I dont know how MSI can say up to XP2800 ?
Thanks for any info that might help me from jumping of the nearest bridge.

my only thought if it boots a 1700 or the like is lack of power, the vcore is dependant on the cpu installed
or the coolers not up to it

I tried to install Haswell optimized linux-ck. Systems always freezes at boot, after kernel and init ram disk are loaded. After some time of troubleshooting I've tried generic linux-ck kernel and it works.
My question is, why Haswell optimized linux-ck doesn't work on Haswell CPU - Intel G3258?

Despite being labeled as such, it doesn't have the full Haswell feature set. Among other things, AVX and AVX2 are missing. If the compiler generated code which uses AVX/AVX2 instructions, their lack can definitely cause the kernel not to boot.

  • Will Zalman's passive VGA-cooling work with their CPU-cooler on K8N?

    I'm thinking of getting the
¤ Zalman ZM80D-HP VGA Dual Heatpipe
    combined with
    ¤ Zalman ZM-7000A-CU
Will they both fit on a K8N? EDIT: What I'm asking is wether there is enough space to fit them both, not compatibility.
What other passive VGA-cooling will work/won't work?
    Thanks!

OK, I'll think about that and read some reviews. I've allready read good stuff about it, just haven't considdered it, cause I thought 'why go low-noise if you can go no-noise', but since this cooler draws air out of the case, other fans could possibly spin slower, so it may be a contestant.

The 9800 Pro doesn't have any temp reader, but with the fan @ 5v it got really hot to the touch, now days I'm using a potentiometer controlling all the fans in the computer, and surfing the web etc it doesn't really matter if the GPU get's a little hot.
That was innovative! Don't have the guts to do such a thing though. Since I haven't bought my stuff yet, I'll rather play safe and try other solutions.
BTW: Do you mind if a post a link to this modding on the sweclockers forum? It might help someone there.

  • MSI KT3 Ultra2 uses VT8235 with KT333

MSI KT3 Ultra2 uses VT8235 with KT333.  Can this be possible and what North/South Bridge Link is used?
    VIA site illustrated VT8233(A) with KT333 and VT8235 with olny P4X400.  ?(

The standard KT333 southbridge on MSI's KT333 boards is a VT8233A, which already supports ATA-133.  USB 2.0 in the southbridge is the real difference.  Hope it works as well as the NEC chip, which is rock solid with my USB stuff.  Love it.

  • MSI K7N2-L usb 2.0 doesn't work with scanjet 4570c

I have a MSI K7N2-L motherboard with WINXP and SP1 that doesn't work with Scanjet 4570C if I set USB in BIOS to 1.1+2.2.  Sometimes it locked up the PC or it showed streaks on the image.  It worked just fine if I set to USB 1.1.  Does anyone knows this is the problem with the MSI motherboard?  I'm sure it was not the Scanjet since it is USB 2.0 supported, and I'd tried another Scanjet and the problem was still the same.

If you are having problems with USB ports, read this topic.
besure you have only 8 wires connected no usboc
    Nice topic!
But usb 2.0 DOES work with 1.3, 1.4 and 1.52 BIOSes. Only after updating to 1.5 official one of the front panel ports (not all 2) start works as 1.1

  • MSI KT3 ULTRA2-C and AGP compatibility

Hi, I'm just about to buy a new motherboard these days, MSI KT3 ULTRA2-C, with an XP 2000/2000+ and memory, but not a new video card, since i can't afford it right now. I only have an AGP Creative 3D Blaster Banshee 16 MB, but it is a 3.3v agp card (AGP 1.0). I was wondering if this motherboard can support it, i checked in a lot of places, including the manual and it doesn't say anything about the voltage it can take, neither if the AGP slot is universal or not (i.e. if it can support both 1.5/3.3v or only 1.5v). The manual for the KT3V specifically says '4x 1.5v only', but this one just says 'AGP 2.0 1x/2x/4x'. I really need to know this since otherwise i'd have to wait two months to afford another video card. I also checked another post here with an answer to a page with AGP explanation, but it didn't help. Thanks you very much, really

     One AGP slot
     - AGP (Accelerated Graphics Port) specification compliant
     - Supports AGP 2.0 1x/2x/4x
so whats the problem, your fine there

  • MSI KT3 Ultra2-BR

    Geachte heer, mevrouw,
    Ramon

    Hi,
Sorry I don't understand....  :( What language is that?
Let me guess, are you asking for different versions of motherboard model for KT3 Ultra 2 ? Ultra2-BR comes with Bluetooth transceiver and key, while Ultra2-R doesn't have Bluetooth bundled and Ultra2 doesn't have RAID either....

  • How can I flash the bios of a MSI kt3 ultra2 without a floppy drive?

How can I flash the bios of a MSI kt3 ultra2 without a floppy drive?
I used the msi live update software to download the bios update programe...when I run it gives 2 options dos and windows
but the windows option is greyed out and the dos option requires a floppy drive (mine does not work)..what can I do?

I can tell you what you need to do but unfortunately - not how to do all of it.
You will need to make a bootable CD with the neccessary files on it .- Somewhere on the www you should be able to find the instructions. I have flashed from a CD   with no problems on a K7S5A board . The CD image was available as a complete download and just needed burning to the CD  so - apart from the obvious ( BIOS file , BIOS installer ,command.com,msdos .sys, io.sys)I don't know what else might  be needed on the CD- unfortunately the disk I made is long gone.
I'm sure a search will find what you need to know.
Once you have the disk -just insert in CD Drive - restart and follow the instructions.

will samsung pc3200 ddr memory be compatable with the msi kt3 ultra2? have seen on one site were the extreme pc3200 ddr memory is not compatable with all boards.

They should work.. but as the Ultra2 only officialy support up to 166MHz (333MHz) (PC2700) on the memory it seems like a waste of money.. Unless you plan on overclocking.. I never had problems with Original Samsung memory..

  • !! Help !! MSI KT3 Ultra2 (MS-6380E) No BIOS Prompt!!

Hi Guys, this may be really elementary to you folks, but I want to change the boot order in bios, so that my Acronis True Image boot disc will be recognized, but when I start my machine, there is NO message about pressing ANYTHING to enter into bios.  I've tried delete and esc anyway, to no avail, and I'm about to restart and try F2, but the screens flash past pretty quick, but not too quickly to see that there is NO prompt to enter BIOS at all..... is that expected, problematic??
Can I download a driver or something that will make the "press [ ] to enter setup" or "press [ ] to enter BIOS" prompt appear?
Failing that, is there anyway to force the system into BIOS without a prompt??

Good tip about the ps/2 keyboard, not that I've tried it yet, but I will tomorrow after I get my hands on one, and I'll let you know.  Thanks for the tip..... but I wonder, shouldn't it at least TELL me that there exists an option to go into BIOS?  Even if it doesn't there must be some way in I guess, so I'll try this tomorrow.  Thanks again.....
