My MSWord .docx download as docx.exe

Just recently, any MS Word .docx download as docx.exe and I can't open them.
.doc open normally.  I can rename the file in Downloads as .docx but would like to find a way to eliminate the download as .docx.exe.
Any ideas...?

I have a similar problem with Safari adding .doc to .docx files, so once I download I get a file with .docx.doc at the end, which won't open in OpenOffice. Have you found a solution to this problem?
Thanks,

Step one is to log into a newly created admin user account and see if the problem persists.

  • Unable to download a docx file

will this PDF sofware download a Docx file?

    Hi Charles,
ExportPDF will take PDF's and convert them to various files depending on the level of service you have purchased.
Are you receiving a specific error message while attempting the conversion?
Let me know how I can assist!
Looking forward to hearing back from you.

  • Trying to install on MacBookPro with Parallels and Windows 8.1. Downloaded the CreativeCloud.exe but says I can't install from network drive

I sometimes like to use Photoshop CC and Lightroom on the Windows side of my MacBookPro with Parallels. I had to reinstall Parallels and also Windows 8.1 recently and am trying to reinstall some of the software that I had previously on the Windows side. I downloaded the CreativeCloud.exe program and when I try to install it from the Windows side, get a message that I can't install Creative Cloud from a network drive. Where can I put the CreativeCloud.exe so I can install it?
    Thanks!

You probably need to check your drive setup for the Parallels environment. Nothing to do with Adobe.

  • Where can I get a free download of saplicense.exe?

Where can I get a free download of saplicense.exe?
saplicense is the SAP tool, that is mostly used for installing a new SAP license. This tool is command line based. In the easiest way, you just issue the following command:
    saplicense -install
Then you are asked for the SID, the installation number, the license key etc.
The SAP License can be ordered online in the SAP Service Marketplace at:
    http://service.sap.com/licensekey

    Thanks Mark, for the hint!
I too was missing saplicense.exe from my ABAP trial install.
Eventually, I found it in the zip file "51032266_3",
    "NW 2004s SR2 Kernel 7.00 Windows Server on IA32 32bit".
    (SAP Support Portal download)
    unzip 51032266_3.zip
    cd NW_2004s_SR2_Kernel_WINDOWS__LNX_X86
    cd KN_WINDOWS_I386
    cd DBINDEP
    d:\sap\NSP\sys\exe\run\sapcar.exe -xf SAPEXE.SAR saplicense.exe

  • CAN'T DOWNLOAD .RAR AND .EXE !!!!!

    Hello to everyone
I've just bought a brand new Nokia E51 and i was more than satisfied with it. WiFi works perfectly, it's rather fast, a lots of memory and a perfect, although-small screen!
Opera browser which i downloaded from the official site doesn't working but ok...
problem is that you can't REALLY use WLAN if you can't download enything but .sis or .sisx.!!!!
When I try to download .rar or.exe or simply enything else, movies, songs, ..etc the browser shows : FEATURE NOT SUPPORTED!!!
Please tell me is there anything i could do to???
    TNXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXx

It's still a bit lame.. I don't need my phone browser to nanny me on what I can or cannot download.. I don't expect it to be able to open .rar without additional software, but I would expect to be able to download some (any) format and then for example attach it to an email to send it to someone.
Or it could be that you access a web application that wants to send you some text based data format as a .dat file even if it's just text.. Again, smart-phones should not attempt to be smarter than you.
It's probably possible to get it to do that though, some applications for sure register their own file format extensions which you can then handle.

  • Downloading changes setu.exe to setup.exe.part-can't run the file

Any time I download a setup.exe file the file extension is changed to setup.exe.part. The executable won't run to do the install. I've tried the same executable downloads with other browsers and it works fine. Suddenly Firefox seems to be altering the file I'm downloading.
    1. I use the Download Manager and download to the Desktop (as I have chosen in "Tools".
    2. I always save the file since the "Run" button is not available when starting the download.
    3. The file for some reason now always saves as xxxx.setup.exe.part
    4. The executable will not open and I always get an error dialog that offers me a search on the web to try to open the file.
    Please help.
    Thanks

Try downloading an installer from the Apple website using a different web browser:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
If you use Firefox instead of IE for the download (or vice versa), do you get a working installer?
If you can't get a working installer via the standard download links, try the following download links instead:
    iTunes 11.1.4 for Windows (32-bit) - iTunesSetup.exe
    iTunes 11.1.4 for Windows (64-bit) - iTunes64Setup.exe

  • HT201468 My Windows download file is exe

I bought Windows 8.1 Pro from the Microsoft store but I didn't receive an ISO image file or a disk, mine downloaded as an exe file, why is this and how can I make it work?

The .exe file is a Download Manager which needs to be installed on a Windows PC. Once installed, if you run it, it will download an ISO or create a DVD, as you choose.

  • Where to download ALIPortletSuiteExchange_v3-2.exe

Where can I download ALIPortletSuiteExchange_v3-2.exe? This is the "add-on" for WebCenter Interaction that provides portlet/s that interface with MS Exchange. The documentation is available here:http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E13174_01/alui/integration/exchangeportlets/docs32/install/index.html but the link to ALIPortletSuiteExchange_v3-2.exe, as listed in the documentation, is dead. Could anyone who might have come across this please let me know where to download this file? Thanks

Trevor's right, this integration component is not available for download online and will need to be shipped to you. Make sure you open a "NON TECHNICAL" support case, as well as mentioning that you are requesting media from the Oracle Hub Media Team.
Here are some additional details you can provide, to make this a smooth process:

  • Safari adding .doc to .docx download

    Hi all,
Using a 2010 imac with Yosemite installed. Latest version of Safari. Using latest version of OpenOffice.
I need to download some Word docs from a website each week. The Word files end with .docx, but when Safari downloads them, it adds .doc to each file. For example, the file I want to download is called "Spring_Registration.docx", but once it is downloaded by Safari, the file is called "Spring_Registration.docx.doc
When I try to open the file in OpenOffice, it reports that the file is corrupted and it will not open it (even if I say to extract what it can). I can fix the problem by removing .doc from each downloaded file--it will then open seamlessly in OpenOffice. However, since there are a numerous files each week, this is not a workable solution.
From what I gather, it has something to do with the way that the file is uploaded by the website I get the files from, but having them fix it on their end is not going to happen.
Does anyone have a way to tell Safari to stop adding .doc?
BTW, Firefox does not add .doc, but I would prefer to use Safari. Thanks for any help.
    -Bill

I am using Yosemite (10.10.1), not 10.5 as stated at the bottom of my post above.

  • How to download converted .docx files from Adobe?

I have converted five .pdf files into .docx files, but when I click on "the download icon" after putting a "check" in the box before the first converted file, nothing happens?
Is there a process to use?  I am using a PC using Windows 7 Ultimate Operating System, and my internet browser is IE 9.  I cannot upgrade to IE 10 as it compromises my MSN mail account: Outlook.com.
I have tried to read all other answers to questions about this same issue, but none address the simple process of downloading a converted .pdf file back onto one's PC.
    Thanks for your help, Thomboy

The trouble with these kind of situations is that an applet runs on the client. If you want an applet to connect to a specific server (which means the client makes a connection to that server), you basically have to give the entire world access rights to that server. I don't think your friendly local administrator will be too happy with such a prospect.
What you could do is put a man in the middle. Don't upload to the file server directly, but to for example the web server where the applet was downloaded from, for example by making a servlet available that takes a HTTP file upload. When that upload is complete, send the file from your man in the middle server to the file server using whatever method you like/have available/know how to code. In this situation only your web server needs access to the file server, which is far easier to secure.

  • Whenever I try to download my .docx files from dropbox, they open as .pdf files instead. How do I fix this?

All of my .docx files on dropbox open as .pdf files when I click on them. I can get around it by closing the file and going to the download window that opened when I clicked on the file and clicking download again. It then opens up a window asking me how I want to view the file. However, this is quite inconvenient. Is there any way to make it so that it doesn't automatically open as a .pdf in the first place?

Change the Default program for ".docx" files to Microsoft.
    try this

Your main question was 'chopped' in the title. Please reply in the body of a reply box with the full question and anything you have tried. And no, the long report was not helpful .
If the same website is opening each time you launch a browser (Safari?) hold down the shift key as you launch to prevent previous pages from opening.
Have a look at your settings in Safari > Preferences. Especially General and Privacy.
Reset Safari to remove cookies and other stored data.
    System Preferences > General
